Visiting Car Tender was a fantastic experience. I called ahead to schedule an inspection on a vehicle I was interested in, and the service from start to finish was top notch. Rob was very helpful discussing everything with me on the phone and preparing me for what to expect. After dropping the car off, Car Tender communicated with me very clearly and promptly on when to expect the inspection to be finished so I could plan my day, and Paolo was just fantastic at breaking everything down from the inspection for me. My brother and I had never been to this business before. It was recommended to us by the owner of another car mechanic business that my brother trusted. I can certainly see why this place was recommended. Everyone there was a kind knowledgeable professional. We had a time critical (to us) request on a Friday afternoon and though they were busy, they fit the job in, as decided by one of the two owners himself. For this visit Paolo in the office and John the mechanic that did the work were the ones involved, and both were terrific. This place specializes in European cars. If you have a European car, a Mercedes in our case, this is a great place to take it for maintenance and repair. We consider it a great discovery.

I was an out of state buyer and these guys are amazing. I needed a PPI done on a Mercedes Benz E55 AMG and spoke to John on the phone. He was super helpful in scheduling a time for inspection on short notice. I learnt that he’s been racing cars for years in his spare time and I could tell right away that I could trust his judgement on this car. And for as much as he knows about European cars, he also knows when something could be handled better under someone else’s eyes.His tech, David, performed the inspection on this car and went through everything he found that raised concern. Telling me which issues to prioritize first. He walked me through everything from subpar coolant, to old suspension, to notes about transmission shifting. Comfortingly, David shared that he has a ML-500 which shares the same engine as mine. He knew what to look over on this Mercedes and I was now confident I could drive it 1100 miles back home. As I walked out, he was working on a 1960s Austin Healey, fine tuning fuel on its carbureted engine.Paolo is another one of the great people working under John, an avid enthusiast who takes great care of cars and customers alike. If he is your first point of contact, you’re in good hands and will be guided towards the best course of action for getting your car working as good as possible. He, along with everyone at this garage, is interested in getting your car to be in great working order.These guys and this shop are standout. If you have a European car, this is the place to take it to.

I got a pre-purchase inspection on a used car I was interested in buying, and Rob and John were so helpful! Both took time to ask me detailed questions about the car I was looking at, and Rob spent time explaining the recommended repairs. He even took the time to help me understand some of the details of buying a used car, and how I could use the info they found to help me in my search. First time at Car Tender:We had a good experience working with Car Tender. Very professional all the way through the repair process. Our Mercedes is 21 years old and in excellent condition. However it needed hose and gaskets and brake calipers replaced among other things. I highly recommend this team.

I own a 2001 BMW Z3 and Car Tender has been the only shop Ill take it to for 15 years. They know there BMWs. My cars have been serviced by Car Tender for literally decades. Two BMWs, an MG, a Jaguar XJ6, a Mercedes 500SL, a couple or three Jeep Cherokees, and a Mercedes 230. No matter what the vehicle, their service has always been very professional. They do not substitute inappropriate parts although those might be less expensive, they always let you know what is going on (even if its bad news), and perhaps most important if you, as I do, drive older cars, they will take the time and they have the persistence to track down squirrely problems that other shops would simply walk away from. Excellent people.

I bought a 1974 Mercedes 450 SL on a whim and knew very little about the car. I only knew that it had 60k miles and seemed to run fine. The guys at Car Tender took a look at it for me and quickly let me know what needed attention and how much it would cost. They were very attentive and did great work on the car always working with my schedule and budget. I recently moved the car to the California desert and they worked tirelessly to get the air-conditioning upgraded to r-134 and it works like a champ! This is the second time I have taken my aging Audi here. The first time was while they were still in their Capitol Hill location. That was a complicated issue with a leaking main engine seal that they accurately diagnosed and repaired. This time it was to replace a window regulator. Dealt with John and Paolo both times and they are excellent. I am very glad that they have moved to Shoreline now. I have been to a few of the repair shops in the area and am very glad to have found Car Tender. Highly recommend them. They are very professional, know what they are doing and most importantly are honest.

John and the team at Car Tender went out of there way to make sure all the repairs to my car were completed perfectly. They had trouble with the car shaking after replacing worn out rear brakes. Took my custom tuned BMW 335 with Pure Turbos to Car Tender for the first time to investigate a boost leak. Car tender was my go-to shop for my 2002 Mercedes C-class. They consistently did better quality work at a lower price than Mercedes dealerships and have some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced from an auto shop. I have since moved out of the area so am no longer a customer, but would recommend to anyone in Seattle looking for expert mechanics for older model German cars.

I moved to Seattle from LA about 2 years ago. I’m a huge believer in finding a solid mechanic to work on my older cars because there’s a lot of businesses out there that just don’t understand 1) the love of older cars 2) how to care for them. I happened to live down the street from the CarTender Capitol Hill location (now they’ve moved to Shorline) and thought I’d give them a try. I figured they’d been in business for 50+ years for a reason!From the get, I had a great experience. Their communication was/is excellent from booking an appointment to the moment you pick up your car. They gave me a complete ‘fix-it’ list in order of priority (older cars always have something to work on). The folks that keep that place pumping are always kind and have been nothing but trustworthy. Their pricing is fair as well.Now that they’ve moved to Shorline, I still bring my car to get worked on. Their new shop’s pretty spiffy and they all seem happy with the updated digs. I went in about a month ago because my car was leaking coolant very quickly. they said that nothing was wrong with it. last night i had one of my coworkers who was a mechanic take a look at it as i was still having issues. turns out i have a blown head gasket when i was told my vehicle was, “one of the best maintained camry’s” they’ve seen. it’s incredibly infuriating that they would take advantage of a broke teenage girl that knows nothing about cars. thanks lol.

CarTender has done routine maintenance and repair on my two now nearly classic (20 years old) BMWs since they were new. The guys at CarTender have come through with really inventive repair work on these cars to fix a couple of unconventional problems when they occurred. The guys are thorough, careful, and absolutely stand behind their work. I won’t go anywhere else.

I saw the full video of the incident at Car Tender. The amount of patience and restraint the owners practiced with that mob was incredible. They never worked on my car but as a fellow mechanic and shop owner on the opposite side of the country I can tell you those are qualities you find in very skilled automotive technicians. Got my seriously ill husband out of the hospital - and found that I had a completely flat tire. Im not from Seattle and was pretty desperate. Car Tender was pretty close and Wow! Too expensive, 100. For an oil change?

I always thought of Car Tender as being an honest business until I went over records of a vehicle I had recently bought.You guys charged the owner $370.00 to replace brake fluid in the the reservoir. Not a complete brake flush and not one component was replaced. It is noted as plain as day that the fluid was siphoned from the reservoir and refilled.I have 25 years in the European auto repair business and read all of the repair orders throughly and was very disappointed to see how you guys took advantage of the previous owner of this car. There are several other jobs where it appears book time was almost double what current Alldata times are.I understand you need to be profitable, but some of these charges are out right ridiculous.

Ive been taking my car to the great guys at Car Tender since about 1997. My mechanic of 19 years passed away, and I didnt know where to turn until one day I saw a beautiful 2002 parked in a lot. I wrote the owner a note, asking where she took her car for service, and left it on her windshield. It was the beginning of two wonderful relationships :) one with the owner of the BMW, and the other with Car Tender.Im doubtful there is any place else in Seattle as knowledgable and competent as Car Tender, especially for rarer cars like my 2002. It amazes me to see the scope of their skills, spanning old cars like mine to jazzy new digital wonders.If this review sounds biased, its because it is. I cannot say enough about them. There is huge peace of mind knowing they are there for me, and deliver top-notch professional services for reasonable prices. Im very grateful and recommend them highly. Took my car in when the cable that ran from my starter to the batter melted on my exhaust header.Pros:The customer service was really good. I was dropped off and when the final repair was done they even drove it to my work. Im assuming thats not something they did for everyone. More about that later.Price for labor was about average for this area and the repairs were done quickly.Cons:I had to take the car back right after driving it off because the starter (which they had to take off to get to the cable) was incorrectly aligned and making a grinding noise when starting the car. Not sure how they missed this when they started the car and drove it out to me.To their credit though, they did remedy the situation by giving me a ride back to work and dropping my car off at my work when they finished the repairs. They also didnt charge me anything for the second repair.I got the feeling they were decently honest and didnt mean for the car to have any other problems. I work on cars frequently (I couldnt work on this one because it broke down at 5 a.m. on I-5) and I had a good indication of the problem before taking it in. They diagnosed the problem correctly and were honest about the problem and the repair.Overall, not a bad shop I suppose. Could have better quality control when letting cars go out the door. It looks like they work on a lot of cars but have good intentions at heart.I gave it 3 stars but I feel closer to 3.5.

Did my 2000 528i. I was surprised they only charged half an hour of shop time to replace a MAF pipe. Seattle places can gouge you but not here. Courtesy inspection was informative and accurate. This is an icon of 12th Ave. I remember my friend going here in the mid 90s and it was an icon then.

Car Tender has been taking care of our cars for over 20 years. They are very clear about services needed, costs and time line. They also tell you when Factory Planned Services are not necessary. Cant recommend them highly enough!

Fantastic service. Had a windshield wiper break 10 minutes before closing, and the mechanic helped switch to the working arm/blade so I could drive for no charge. Will return for future service.

I have used Car Tender for service on every car I have owned over the past twenty years since I moved to Seattle. I attempted to use Audi of Seattle for a couple of repairs, but they were a far cry from the quality of service and overall experience that Car Tender provides. While not the cheapest hourly rate, they always have always diagnosed the problem correctly the first time, and probably saved me quite a bit of money with their efficiency. Every repair was done correctly the first time, and I have never had to bring a car back (unlike Audi of Seattle) to get them to diagnose the actual correct problem. Personalized service. Once youve been there, they know you by name, and treat you terrifically. I always spoke with Patrick Linke for 18 years, until he recently moved on. I would recommend Paolo for any questions you have regarding your vehicle. Highly recommend.

Got a quote for $60 to replace a headlight here. Just got the work done elsewhere for $12.50. Cant vouch for the service, but the prices are astronomical.

I recently took my vehicle to this place to have a couple of issues fixed. It went in for rear brakes, exhaust leak, tail light, and a new battery. For starters, it came out of the shop with a couple of brand new problems. It now will not accelerate properly, and the accelerator itself has gotten stuck and didnt free itself until I turned off the car. I brought it back and they basically told me they can check some stuff but it was going to cost more. After inflating the original estimate for the 4 tasks more than $1000. I will go elsewhere from now on.

I was given an estimate of $700.00 for the work on my BMW - 3 days later when I finally asked if we were still within the $700, they said ah no, we are now at $1700.00. I told them to stop all work on the car, and it still took another day to get my car back, and the final bill was $1800.00! they were also rude. terrible experience overall.
