My sister and I had a very expensive repair done at the dealers on our 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan (intake manifold runner something) about $2700. When it was finished, we were told that it also needed a transmission! to the tune of about $8000!! I went in person to see Frank at Aamco Sarasota, unannounced, and he took the time to sit with me to discuss the problem. He was patient and listened as I explained what I had been told and what had been done already. He and Erik, the technician, explained that they would carefully examine the car and give us a second opinion as sometimes the problem is not the transmission at all. Erik determined, through investigation based on solid experience, that the problem actually was the catalytic converter and we spent $2100 instead of $8000. Great job, fellas! Thanks for taking care of two senior ladies who need to watch our pennies!

I was recommended by a client. Pleased I was, as they did a great job. The work was priced before they started . All the staff were attentive and professional and they fixed my problem at a lower cost than I was quoted elsewhere . Even dropped me off and collected me at my store when the car was ready. Excellent service.

Needed rotors and pads. Frank took care of me. He runs the place like an old school repair shop — no BS, no up-selling, no nonsense, and very upfront and clear on what to expect. And to make things even better, the job was done quickly.Something that really made me trust them was the cool gear head who had brought his truck in for some work (because he had recently moved and doesn’t have his own garage set up yet). When someone like thIs guy trusts a company, it’s a good indication that I should too.

This repair shop is excellent. A transmission rebuild on a Ford Transit is a big job. The whole front suspension needs to be taken apart to get the transmission out. One of my ball joints was bad and they replaced it for the cost of the part only. No extra labor since it was taken apart already. The repair was finished on time and for a great price. Everyone is friendly and the entire shop is kept impeccably clean. This is a total car care shop and I would highly recommend it for all your vehicle maintenance and repair.

Erick and Frank went above and beyond my expectations and we’re able to fix issues on my 2011 Wrangler that I had previously been told were unfixable and would require thousands of dollars in replacement parts. They really won my trust and future business. I highly recommend.

My 2014 Jeep Wrangler began to run very rough with a blinking check engine light. Not good! I had it in to Frank and the guys at Aamco, where my dad has been taking all of our vehicles now for a couple of years, and they had the problem properly diagnosed, the parts ordered and the jeep back on the road for me in no time. My daughters SUV had issues with stalling. We had first brought it to another mechanic who gave an insane estimate and couldnt work on the vehicle for 2 weeks. I contact AAMCO on Clark and they said to bring it right in. Not only were they honest, professional, and courteous, they took the time to explain what the problem was in terms I would understand AND even sent me pictures as a visual! They didnt try to sell me additional services I didnt need, they just took care of the problem. The price was right, service excellent and fast! I would definitely recommend them.

Dont trust these mechanics for their lack of knowledge especially Evan. He doesnt squat about fixing car. Dont trust Frank (Service Manager) or Dallas Council (the owner) either. Theyre thick as thieves. Theyll find ways to nickel and dime you very time you go there.

I brought my 2008 BMW in with a clunky transmission and The problem was diagnosed correctly and repaired quickly. They even told me that if the repair was unsuccessful, and it turned out I needed a new transmission all together, they would swap out the old parts so I would not be stuck with an expensive repair that didn’t fix the problem. Incredible! Will definitely use them again.

Having called three times to ask questions, even with three different people answering the phone, it was clear that they were all on the same page. Booking a convenient time for the work was easy. The franchise owner was at the desk when I brought my car in. He was highly professional and courteous, and I sensed this wto be a place where integrity can be counted on. I happened to talk with the technician when the work was complete and noticed his pride at a job well done! Along with all this, the cost was well below what the car dealership quoted. No hesitation recommending these people.

Brion keasey and his trusted team of mechanics are by far some of the most professional and knowledgeable I have seen in the business.I stop by the other day for what what I though was some well overdue preventive maintenance and I was taking back by how reasonable their prices were and integrity of the staff. I had already had previous quotes from other companies such as tires plus and GOODYEAR for the same work who pretty much tried to rob me with their prices.Brion and his staff did not only beat their prices but their knowledge base about other subjects related to my car was impressive.I would highly recommend them going forward to my friends, family and the general public. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! Car was bucking, got her towed here (AAA approved right?) Quoted me $1400 to get my car running again. Ok go ahead, didnt know any better, need a car- what a mistake! They wanted to charge $388 (part only) to replace my entire lower intake manifold because of a snapped bolt (which I removed & replaced myself in about 10 minutes when I took my car back). They gave no option to even try to remove the bolt, just replace the whole thing! What?! 😂 Wanted to replace my oil separator too, there was nothing wrong with the separator itself, as the pressure control valve plugged into it needed replacing (so even their diagnosis was wrong). Had I gone along with this oil separator repair, I would have agreed for them to remove a cylinder head & fix a problem that never even existed. My estimate skyrocketed to $3100 with the 14 hours of labor (at $115/hr) needed to fix my car. After 4 full business days, lack of communication, and no progress, I got a refund for the money I put down for them to start the work (which never happened), paid $250 for the diagnosis (also didnt apply my 10% AAA discount), & got her towed out of there thank god! Took it elsewhere and got her running for $118. She needed a pcv valve, a couple elbow hoses, & a water belt. ***Since I trusted that mechanic, I went ahead with every repair I was quoted for at AAMCO (that was actually needed) and more for $866, all completed in 2 days.*** AAMCO will rip you off! Truly unbelievable. The only good thing I have to say is that the people here were very polite, especially the mechanic.To really felt to me like a textbook Oh, youre a woman? Let me take advantage of your lack of knowledge! Reported your business to AAA as well. Im not sure if this location simply doesnt know what theyre doing, or if there was just a lack of understanding for my vehicle; either way, save yourself thousands & go elsewhere!Response to the owners comment:You said that you called me right away when you started to undertake the work & ran into additional problems. You had already had my car for four business days when I received that phone call. You had personally said my car was to be completed by then & there was no communication prior. You also stated that you didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need, but a full replacement of my lower intake manifold was needed? It was not.Sincerely, thank you for your apology, because I truly feel as though I was going to be taken advantage of had I not towed my car out of there. You are also right that you refunded me for everything except the diagnostic, which WAS the right thing to do. You were nothing but kind to me when we spoke on the phone as well. Honestly, thank you for this experience, I have learned so much about my car to ensure Im not in this situation again. I really am sorry to leave a scathing review, but this was my personal experience with your business. Im glad to see others have had better experiences than I did. I have posted a review of the Aamco before but would like to make an addition. Just took my daughters 6 speed civic in for fluid changes. The guys at the garage noticed a few things that needed some attention and had it all patched up in an hour. Bottom line, they always seem to go the extra mile and it never ceases to amaze me the level of attention and service that goes in to every visit no matter how big or how small the issue. Brian listened to my personal situation, understood my concerns with an older Toyota it needed to be roadworthy as my husband was in a medical facility an hour away. His team fixed what was needed to accomplish this; Brian was more than willing to answer specific computer code details that were found when I called back the next day after completing the work with additional questions.

We were in the area on vacation and our Serpentine Belt broke. We called AAA for a tow and they recommended AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care. A few minutes after we hung up with AAA we received a call from Ken the Service Manager asking what our issue was so he could be prepared for the vehicle to arrive. Within two hours the belt was replaced and we were back in the vacation mode. The price was very fair for the services provided and I would definitely use them again if necessary. I brought my car in thinking it needed some work that they easily could have charged me for, but instead explained my “user error” and sent me on my way - no charge - after checking the whole car and telling me it was in great shape!!! Wow. Integrity still exists!!! I will use them forever!

Couldnt fix the issue with my diesel engine, and were able to admit that and give me options for who could, at no charge for diagnostic. Used them in the past to replace my flywheel and torque converter, happy with the service here.

I went to other places who never offered a free inspection and they had high prices. Im so happy that I had Mike Allen as a referral at AAMCO!! He checked the air conditioning for free and quoted a very reasonable price to fix the problem. He even temporarily fixed my air problem in my older Honda Odyssey. Since writing this review, Dallas has apologized for what he called technician error and agreed to honor the warranty, offering a small amount of compensation for my trouble. The technician who made the incorrect judgment about my transmission is no longer with the company, Ive been informed. I believe his apology was sincere, however I still consider it a mistake to have gone to Aamco in the first place.---Terrible and dishonest. Brought my car in for a check engine light. They told me my transmission fluid had antifreeze in it which would void my warranty (I paid two grand for a transmission rebuild) and that they would only honor my warranty if I paid them 800 for a new radiator and transmission flush.Had my car towed to a nearby mechanic and had a pressure test done, found out my radiator had no problems and the transmission fluid was clean. They just wanted more money from me, I assume because they had matched a nearby mechanics price when doing the rebuild and wanted to make up the difference.Telling someone with a working vehicle that its not drive-able and needs a repair is pretty dirty, but threatening to void a $2000 warranty if they dont pay up is unforgivable. Would not trust these guys with my keys again for any reason. Avoid this place if you know whats good for you. There are other repair shops literally blocks away who will do the same job for cheaper and not try to scam you afterwards.

I’ve been using this shop for a couple of years and have never been disappointed. Fair prices, they never recommend what you don’t need and get you in if it’s an emergency. I recommend the Clark road AAMCO to all of my friends because it is my go to car shop.

I work in Gulf Gate and took up their offer of a fee up front for FREE oil change for the next year. So I go for an oil change and they go on to tell me theres so much wrong with the car Im facing a cost of $1000. Thats BS. I work local to them and after telling my experience to my customers I hear lots of similar experiences also. Just beware.

Brought my car in to check transmission. It turned out to be fine, but they pointed out a few other problems. Since the car is older, and not worth much, I decided not to invest more into it. Still, the service manager was gracious, and didnt charge me to look over the car. Professional, clean operation. Free coffee, too.

I was really happy with my experience at AAMCO. I was going to go to the dealership to get some work done on my 2010 Corolla, but a friend of mine told me to stop in and see Richard. He was really helpful and honest...something I was nervous about going to a smaller shop. He called me multiple times throughout the process, and they got it done very quickly. I didnt know that AAMCO does everything...I thought they only did transmissions. I highly recommend this shop.

Car battery died and had AAA jump start it. Brought it to AAMCO, since they had done work for me previously. They replaced the battery as agreed, but I had a question about the price. I then sent the owner an email, and he made it right.

These guys went above and beyond to service my car today in preparation for a trip I have coming up. The manager went out of his way to accommodate me on a busy morning and gave me a fair and generous price on all services. I will definitely be back!

Extremely unsatisfied. I took my Jeep here for inspection and because I didnt agree to get my (overly priced) clutch done here they totally screwed me on the services they did supply. Justine initially claimed that my breaks were in great shape after charging $150 for them to be looked at and cleaned. When I returned a few days later for another look at the brakes that were now squeaking, a mechanic rode with me and told me they could be replaced as well as the rotors. At a new mechanic, I was told the front brakes were definitely not cleaned and he had a completely different recommendation. Because I didnt get the clutch done they totally ripped me off and charged for work that wasnt complete. I called to ask about the service and they were trying to twist my words to get out of processing a refund. I will never go back and do not recommend this place.

Hey, Ken is the GREATEST! Ken is a very cool guy to talk to about repairs and I never got the feeling that I was being ripped off! Ive been around to several repair places in the area over the years and I have to say that these guys are the best. I limped in with some kind of transmission trouble (thankfully they were honest and it wasnt the transmission!)...They didnt try to up-sell me and they repaired my car within the day and were very nice about it, too! They even gave me a ride home when I brought it in. A+ for that one! Thank you, guys, you ROCK!

I cannot say how much we appreciated Justine Doubs help and compassion during a difficult time. She is the office Coordinator at this AAMCO. Our Chevy Tahoe broke down on 75 in Sarasota heading back to NJ from Fort Myers on a Thursday night. My cars transmission was shot and blowing fluid everywhere. I had my wife, two kids and two dogs in the car. She assisted us in getting an affordable rental at Enterprise so we could go back to Fort Myers until the repairs were done. She was in constant contact with us and kept us apprised of the progress and was on top of all of the details. She was even willing to come in on her day off to ensure we could get back on the road as soon as possible. It was truly a blessing that we were fortunate enough to find someone we trusted under such hectic circumstances and in an area that we did not know anyone.

Do NOT NOT NOT go there!!!They charged us $5000 to fix our transmission a couple of weeks ago and our car broke down yesterday. They charged us to tow it back to them and now want $1000 more to “fix our radiator”. Not afraid to rip off and take advantage of people that are struggling.

Recommend so highly. Especially to all women customers. I never write reviews but I could not help myself in this case. They treated me with respect and did not look down on me because I was female and ignorant about cars. The owner Jim answered all my questions and made recommendations on what I needed without being pushy and asking for the most expensive work. Have an old Mustang and I rely upon to get to work and am lost for even a day if it is out of service. I thought needinga transmission it would be hundreds of dollars and maybe even a thousand or more but I was so very happy when I heard the price. They checked my car for free/ They did not have to but they even told me about a coupon on their website which they honored which gave me a $100 off the cost. I could not believe they could even finish the work in less than a day and brought me a cup of coffee while I was waiting. I know some auto repairs places get a bad name but AAMCO in Sarasota really is different. I will go back for other work or any time I need my car checked. Hope this review helped others.

KEN AT AAMCO ON CLARK ROAD IS THE BEST MECHANIC WE HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH - him and his team went above and beyond to fix my husbands 2003 Ford F-150, making it easy on us dropping off the car after hours using the drop box, and keeping in touch with us about repairs and costs. The complimentary towing service offered with larger repairs saved us from leaving my husband and kids stranded when the alternator died. It has been a long journey but Ken did not give up and fixed our car. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! He was always very polite, found time to speak to both my husband and I and worked with us on parts and pricing. Out of the blue I started having trouble with my Mustang GT 5 speed. Taking off in first gear it started to kick and buck. Concerned that it might be the clutch or worse yet the transmission I decided to take it to the pros at Aamco South Sarasota. At their office Justine assured me they would do a full diagnostic check to rule out any problems. It turned out the clutch and transmission were fine it just needed a major tuneup and now it’s running like it did the day I bought it new off the lot. I will come back whenever I need any other work done.Thank You Aamco

These guys are just awful. Their customer service people are not helpful. Ive been here 2 or 3 times and always feel like they are trying to scam me. They are incompetent and on friendly. Triple A dropped my car off in the parking lot adjacent to their building and they claimed they couldnt find it. The keys were left in the wrong Dropbox no fault to them but they didnt even think to ask. I would highly not recommend this shop for anything ever. Ive been there 3 times in 3 years and this time I was hoping it would be different but it was not. Once they tried to fix the air conditioning on my Van in charge me $300 to do absolutely nothing.

They are a real ripp off the radiator is only 112 at Napa and the say the tubs and fluid is a hundred extra so with that thats 212 so they want around 400 bucks for labor thats crazy I could see 200 for labor but wow talk about trying to cut someones throat and bleed them dry wow wouldnt go there and people wonder why they dont trust mechanic

Leave the car to do a revision and diagnosis of a failure of motor valves. The day after I left a car, Jeff call me and explain by phone the repairs that will be needed the car. I preffered to go personal and explain me the job requirements. When I was there, Jeff explain me and treat as possible to change the engine for other used, imagine that, He wanted to try to spend more than 3500 dollars in another engine. Then he gave me another option consisted in changing all valves (24) of the 4-cylinder and gave me a budget of 2100 dollars. I started to refute his proposal, and said him that only needed to change the valves of the single cylinder that had failed, but insisted that he explain to me to change all, because that might have a problem with the other cylinders, I asked him, why that could cause a future problem?, he answered me, as you may have more pressure on the cylinder that it will be repaired, etc etc. I ask, why he was trying to convince me to make an unnecessary expense, and telling me that if I not fixed the valves of the other 3 cylinders that affect in the performance of the engine, because the valves of the cylinders repaired, will generated more compression inside the engine. So, Jeff try to lie to me and take advantage financially of my problem. Finally take the car to other mechanic, which made me the budget and work fairly and at an affordable price. Jeff, this opinion is not personal is about the professionalism to manage a company and be in peace for the well done job.
