Good coffee and you can find their beans being used at various local eateries too.Side note: Dune is one of my all time favorite books. So, I was hopeful for some fun merch from here, but was disappointed.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops! Its such a cute coffee shop, and theres always lots of comfortable seating available. There are numerous solutions available that will certainly please your taste. The entire staff is friendly, inviting, and willing to help. This is a location I would strongly recommend to anyone.
High consistent quality. Always a rotation of new roasted beans, pastries are mouthwatering (really miss the OG biscuits and jelly) and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful (not to mention their barista national trophy wall)
Great cup of coffeeInteresting place, they actually focus on coffee and not the everything else like other companies.Sat outside with my cousin and really enjoyed it.
Loved this place. It was upbeat, clean, friendly. The staff are excellent. The coffee loved it. Definitely a place for me Everytime Im in Santa Barbara.
We loved the experience here. While walking up and down state street one morning we came upon this shop. Very friendly staff and great coffee. Would 100% come back here.
Not too busy, friendly staff, great branding and decor. Spicy chai was delicious.
I have been a supporter of Dune Coffee since it was The French Press and they shared their state street location with another business. This week the two times I was in I was discriminated against by the staff because of a couple of T-shirts I have worn.My T-shirts did not promote discrimination against any religion, race or gender, or orientation.however in order to understand it you’d either have to be in the service or a veteran.I have worn these shirts a number of times while purchasing coffee and not once had it bothered anyone,My shirts are from a Veteran owned business which I support because I am a Veteran myself. I choose to support Dune coffee because I believe in supporting local and small businesses.Up until till now Dune coffee had had excellent customer service, with a sad heart I will no longer support Dune Coffee because it seems that they do not support Veterans. As a veteran I fought overseas so we can have the freedom to be able to Think with an open mind So that we can as a whole stick together regardless of Religion, Race, or Sexual Orientation, I fought so that even if we don’t agree with one another we can be able to Live and Let Live.
Still best in town, with the nicest service. Innovative new street furniture...you wont overstay on it ;)
I dont taste any different from Starbucks.
Great coffee and tasty breakfast sandwiches!
I would definitely visit Dune Coffee Roasters again! Im from out of town and we were looking for a great coffee spot. So we couldnt sit inside because of quarantine, the service was still quite good and I love my iced mocha, not to sweet and the espresso shots for definitely enough to give it a very balance flavor. Definitely try this coffee spot!
My favorite matcha in Santa Barbra! Staff is super kind and friendly and there’s a nice patio to enjoy your drink.
Its OK, but nothing to write home about.
Pretty good coffee. Helpful service. Nice venue. Recommended
Coffee was pretty decent, but the girls working there are extremely rude and act inconvenienced by every little thing. Definitely need to work on their customer service.
Some of the best coffee in Santa Barbara area! I always get a cappuccino, it highlights the flavor of the beans without overwhelming it. Haven’t had a bad coffee from them yet.
Prices are reasonable. They offer a variety of delicious drinks on top of an already satisfying menu.
The espresso is quite uninteresting. Very limited crema, and that is after asking not to transfer cause of course they do. If youre looking for good fluffy rock and intense espresso, hopefully there are better places in town
Got honey oatmeal latte, was perfect. Staff friendly
Good coffee
Mocha is really good. Zip zinger is a good fruity coffee for those that like fruity coffees. Has a small nice sidewalk area to enjoy your brew outside. Definite spot.
Great three level, open space, many outlets, speedy free wifi. Couches for lounging are available. Only downside is many communal tables, limited in table space for your own. Pretty minimal noise level. This place is such a contrast from the dim lit coffee. I appreciate the lots of lighting which helps me see my work better. I wish there is more work/study places like this around CA.
This place has great style, staff is very friendly!
The service is friendly, and the tres leches lattes are delicious!
This space has been a coffee place for a long tome. The French Press has brought the quality of the coffee to a new height. Lovely, full-bodied, smooth. There are places to sit outside in both front and back. Generally pleasant. Didnt see any outlets for electronic equipment but the quality of the coffee more than makes up for it!
Great coffee!! Excellent pastry. Baristas can be more efficient
One of my favorite coffee shops ever. Definitely ranks on my top 3, Ive had a good amount of their drinks and they have all been pretty darn good. My favorite definitely does have to be the vanilla latte, its just so delicious and I usually order 2, one for the beginning of the day and one for after my lunch break.Their baristas are all pretty nice and very sweet! Their coffee keeps me going.
It was national coffee day and I HAD to get selfie with a nice cup of coffee or espresso. I did a little research and ended up at The French Press. No I didnt drive all the way over here from LA, I was already in the area. The crowd outside was a great sign that we were in store for a nice experience. There were hardly any tables available inside and outside of the coffee shop. I ordered an espresso and it took some time for me to sip it. Its seriously super strong. I repeat...Its STRONG. Oh well, that didnt stop me.Im particularly huge fan of these types of coffee shops. When available Ill choose a small/non chain coffee chop any day. Even when busy, it feels very spacious because of the layout. On a nice day, I recommend sitting outside and soaking up the sun. If I lived in the area, I can totally see myself here for several hours on my days off...just catching up on my reading OR writing my reviews.Highly recommended!
Great coffee
Ok lunch.Fine view service good.
Nice coffee, lots of seating, parking lot nearby. Not my favorite but SB has many great choices, this is certainly one of them.
I am always surprised and delighted to taste such savory! A nice place where we love to come every time we are in the city.
This is a gorgeous space that maintains the classic neighborhood cafe vibe well. Outdoor seating on both sides of the block, plenty of indoor seating, good music, basic but fly decor, and outlets for a couple hours of work or studying. Although I didnt get to actually sample their coffee, I did purchase bottled Kombucha and some art from the currently displayed artist. The staff was very helpful, attentive, and friendly, and I always appreciate that. Will definitely stop in for a drink the next time Im in town!
The best espresso in town. You can wank about the slow service or the price but I got news for you, nobody cares. They have great espresso drinks and that takes time. If youre in a hurry or want your chemical laden quick drinks from a competitor have at it.
It was peaceful and quiet
My wife and I are in town for a couple of days for work. Staying at the Upham on Sola. Anyway....we walked to Dune coffee shop on State street this morning. Cute place, great coffee and scones but what stands out are the lively, upbeat, friendly staff. What wonderful young people! Thanks girls and guys :)
I love this shop! Always very good Dune roasts, usually pretty busy and it can be a bit cramped / hard to find a place to sit. Baristas are suuuuuper friendly and helpful always. Perfect place to stop for delicious coffee or tea on the go while shopping on State St. - or if you can get a seat outside on the small patio, lots of dogs stop by and it’s a great spot to people watch!!
Friendly and has good coffee. Only reason I rated them 4 instead of 5 stars is I tried several times to call them and their next kvetch was consistently busy.
Nice staff but coffee is not really my taste + spy milk would be nice as an option but overall very good :) just personally not my favourite
Excellent service and coffee! Places like this make me like Santa Barbara even more :)
This FP is a little less crowded than the one on Cota. If youre looking to get some actual work done without being distracted then this is the place to do it. They have a narrow corridor for seating which can limit your people watching habits, but theyve also got a nice outdoor seating arrangement to host good conversations.
Love the Baristas here! They are kind and funny and great at their job! Keeping it light and cool with a packed house! Love the coffee biscuits. My new favorite place to go in the morning before work and between work meetings. One of the regular spots we agree to have sit down meetings for work collabs!:)
This place had good online reviews, so we went in. The staff were friendly, jovial even, but not annoying. They got our order and got our drinks together quickly. We sat at a little cafe table just off the sidewalk and watched the world go by. Listening to the mellow beats from inside, I took my first sip.Holy cow. That is a good freakin latte. Easily in my top ten. Maybe competing for my #1 spot. Months later, I can still taste it now. Its like drinking happiness. In the Santa Barbara battle between The French Press and that other place, Ive chosen my ground to stand on.
Wonderful vanilla lattes. Good atmosphere. Good people watching and really great staff even when theyre busy.
Great local independent coffee shop serving amazing coffee beverages and scratch-made baked goods in a bustling yet cozy space.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Overall a much more refreshing experience than the large franchises.
The people at this place are very nice and I have always enjoyed the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the coffee is terrible. I’m sorry, but it has a weird sweetish/sourish flavor that is unappealing.
Friendly staff, great coffee. Only a stones throw from the nearest Starbucks. Get your steps in and grab a coconut cappuccino. You will not be disappointed.
Nice place to study. Had to leave though because they dont have any outlets. The ones that were near me didnt work. Good coffee. Chill vibes.
This used to be one of my favorite coffee shops in Santa Barbara with the best lattes in town. But they removed ALL the outlets, making it extremely inconvenient to study there. They do this so people will not stay there long. Isn’t that the purpose of a coffee shop? I’m incredibly disappointed. What a shame. Instead of The French Press, go somewhere else that supports college students and their long hours.
Visited about four, it was not full. The service here is outstanding. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.
Very good location, and large space with inside and outside tables so you have room to do work or talk to friends. I really enjoy their coffee, and especially liked the Christmas peppermint mocha. This is my favorite coffee shop in SB!
They make a point to know my name and remember what I order. Love that. Its my local spot.
Coffee is well roasted here. Sometimes dial-ins can be a bit of hit or miss, but I still leave satisfied.
Always stop in here when Im in the area. They had served Verve coffee in the past but recently started roasting their own in Santa Barbara.I had a pour over of one of a Costa Rica coffee. On par with Four Barrel, Blue Bottle, Stumptown, etc. and the best coffee Ive had in months.Cant wait to pick up more beans.
Roast their own beans as Castle Roasters. Can order a French press of coffee to share. When this location opened it was the best coffee in Santa Barbara. I believe they slightly changed the way they make their coffee, and its no longer the best in town. Still very good. The pastries are their own, and are amazing, particularly the paleo/gluten-free pastries.
Love this place. Employees are nice and coffee is delicious. Recommend stopping by here worth it. Price is same as Starbucks (but coffee is better here).
They have at the French press very nice coffee, and desserts. I dont drink coffee but I go there often with my children who love their coffee and say its one of the best.
Coffee is always good and Dune is the best roasted coffee in town. They can get kinda busy, but the product stays consistent.
Oh my, glad to report this place is amazing. If you are a dessert person and like sweets get the affogato.
Awesome coffee, atmosphere and baristas! Free wifi and plenty of tables. I love when you dont have to wonder if there will be a sit available to enjoy your coffee. Definetely worth the visit!
Great local establishment. Friendly staff make an effort to recognize regulars and take pride in preparing their house roasted coffee. Pet friendly with reliable Wi-Fi and clean restroom. No power outlets though.
Good coffee!
Great little place with great atmosphere. The best part is entering the restroom. You feel like James Bond punching in that key code on the number pad.
During the Santa Barbara International Film Festival I had visited Starbucks and Peets. On one of my last days at the Festival, I found The French Press. There were about ten people sitting around enjoying their coffees. There was a nice vibe to the place, different than Starbucks and Peets. It felt more local, low key and less rushed. It just felt more relaxing to be there. I enjoyed my drink, spent some time there and just chilled.
Discussing espresso. Who can mess that up???!! Not Italian at all. It was so bitter. I also waited a long time and I saw they served another guy before me, when I was here first. I don’t recommend this coffee bar at all.
If looking for a great local coffee place, Id pick Santa Barbara Roasting Company every time. Coffee at French Press was just ok. Not my favorite.
The coffee on drip was delicious. It was so sweet youd think there was sugar in it! It was like nuts and honey.
Very good pastries, especially almond croissant and caramel brownie. Coffee was a bit burnt, but overall its a good place to start your day.
Neat place. I had the 2080 blend. The coffee is a bit pricey (the bag I bought was about 17 bucks) but it certainly is a fun experience.
Good banana bread and excellent coffee. I have to be here at the Santa Barbara County courthouse very early and this is a nice place to get prepared.
Didn’t like how they have no gloves on especially during a pandemic. Alright coffee but expensive.
A staple in Santa Barbara. The Anacapa store has a larger patio, but this is right on state and has some outdoor space. Good biscuits too - right, Ben?
My favorite coffee shop. Fun to sit outside and watch everything going on around State st.
Great coffee, cozy interior, they even have a small outside seating area.
I happen to stumble across this place in san francisco city while strolling around with a friend. Its a very small cosy place at the corner of a building. Their coffee is too good and its different from the usual coffee.
Great coffee, quality food & awesome atmosphere. The vegan almond butter is insanely delicious!
Good coffee, somewhat chill atmosphere if I can Dodge rush hour. Nice staff.
