Such a great spot in the cut in OSJ. Baristas are pros and the coffee is first-class. They have a nice selection of postres and breakfast items. The Mallorca sandwiches are awesome, ham or Turkey on the softest bread , warmed in the oven and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The omelet is also a winner, served with fresh buttered bread. It’s great because you can park a scooter in front ( there are only 3 areas to park scooters in OSJ) and go into the plaza and eat there or take it to go and sit on the lawn at El Morro. Highly recommend this spot
Nice coffee shop inside the museum plaza. Fun little space inside. The place is amazing and the staff are amazingly friendly. However the coffee and snacks are super over priced. The iced coffee tastes watery. Their smoothies are amazing though. Try the smoothies and their savory sweet treats.
This is an amazing little Cafe. Its a bit of a hard spot to find bit once you do it has really good coffee and tea! The service was quick and they were all nice!
Great coffee. Usually have it shipped to me, but always enjoy going to the store when Im in Puerto Rico. Staff is really pleasant, friendly, and helpful
Solid Coffee from here! They are one of the few with many different types of pours. They have their own coffee farm they resources from. The environment is super cozy inside and you can hang out the beautiful Ballaja outside if you want too. The turkey and egg sandwiches were very tasty as well. If you’re around the area, definitely get a cup of coffee here
I came here once before and the experience was good. I came a second time (from Miami) to have a cappuccino in their red ceramic cups, but instead they give it to me in a paper cup. They told me theyre giving out paper cups because theyre about to close. I looked at my watch it was 4:28 pm. They close at 5:30 pm... The barista seemed to express a little funk. Oh! And there was a curly hair in my girlfriends cup.. it was good while it lasted, I guess.
It’s a must go place in San Juan. Everything about this place is just awesome. Coffee and food both are pretty delicious. Great for vegetarians, pesto sandwich was very fresh and good, also their blueberry muffin. Staff was so polite and helpful. We liked it so much that we went again next morning, but unfortunately it was Sunday and they open at 10. Anyways, I am looking forward to go there again on my next trip to Puerto Rico.
Great coffee in a beautiful area. The coffee is grown at their own local farm. Mid-day on Saturday they will even roast in-house.I visited in late October on a Saturday morning. I was a bit confused walking up, given that it is not a stand alone store, nor is it immediately accessable from the street. You have to walk into the museum courtyard from the street and it will be found tucked away in a corner. Cannot recommend enough.
They have the best French toast, tea and coffee on the island!!! The ambiance is also great.
Mallorcas are amazing came for a week and ate 4 days here. Coffee is on point too
Best damn coffee Ive ever had great sandwiches too. Over the top service. Find it if you can!
Good coffee and crescents. Theres a parking garage right next to the court yard! Easy access
Great coffee, lovely staff, great location. If you’re in the mood for a high-quality caffeine fix or a quiet spot to enjoy a good cup of coffee, this is your spot. Very convenient to those visiting the nearby fort.
When visiting the fort, make sure to take a left into the museum de las americas. Don Ruiz is nestled in the back corner. This venue has great staff and a unique coffee menu.Ever coffee stop in Puerto Rico is amazing, but this spot gives a innovative take on features items. Check out the photos!
Great staff, good food and good prices too! The mini guava cakes were a good touch.
Ive walked through this area dozens of times and never knew this awesome place existed! The plaza is almost this fun hidden treasure. Everything is so yummy, the place is cozy and the customer service is on point. If you love chocolate and bananas, try the funky monkey and pair it with their moist banana bread.
This is an AMAZING coffee experience. My ristretto was outstanding. My family enjoyed an excellent cheese pizza and sandwhich that was artfully prepared. The staff was so helpful in helping my cranky children figure out their selections. The barista teased out that my angsty teenager that she liked smoothies and calmed her attitude with a mango smoothie. So well done.#travelformortals
Amazing coffee, great food. Definitely go here!
I had a cafe latte and an egg & cheese croissant and my daughter had the mini cinnamon rolls and quesitos (cheese turnovers) & a banana, all for only $10. Food was hot and delicious! Service was excellent and you get free glasses of ice water. We sat at the tables right in the plaza. Really cool old San Juan feel. Highly recommend.
Im not a coffee drinker but my crew said it was good. I enjoyed the peppermint tea 😁
Came here twice while in OSJ, great coffee and delicious pastry sandwich!
Don Ruiz is a must visit coffee shop in San Juan. Worth every penny & journey getting their. I grew up drinking coffee. My wife loves coffee and the coffee here was so good that we went 3x before returning to Fl. Its the best coffee we ever had! The sandwich with provolone, ham, pesto sauce was delicious and to top it off the warm guave cheese pastry made our journey perfect! I met the manager and he was very humble and friendly. The reviews dont lie. If you want to taste the best PR coffee this is the place. Park at the fort and hike 2 blocks. Coffee Heaven is their. Oh and the building takes you back in time. Amazing!
The best coffe
Great margarita and attentive warm friendly staff
Meh. This place is really like whatever. Im only giving in 3 stars because the coffee was decent. The breakfast was really bland and over priced.
Great coffee, entry is hard to find as inside the fort, must enter from east or west to access. Worth the walk!
Really love the coffe in this place. Excellent Service
Its all about coffee taste..!
Delicious coffee and breakfast burritos.
I live in Florida and I ordered whole beans online. Order was good, coffee is good but there was a little mistake that for me says a lot. Order was shipped on March 18, delivered on March 21 and according to the package the bean was toasted on March 20?!?! Sorry but honesty is a big thing for me. Will not buy again from this place.
Great atmosphere and very good coffee.
Awesome place for expresso, lunch, and a bit of coffee history
Coffee is great. A must experience.
Delicious coffee and very hospitable staff!
As previously stated by other reviews, lack of customer service. I walked in with my family and friends, total of eight. We stood there while three employees were behind the counter. Not one good morning or give us a minute please. The place is nice and good atmosphere but we almost left. A female worker showed up and asked if she can get us something and we decided to stay. All they need is a friendlier staff and the place would be a five star. Customer is NOT always right, but would be nice if you just felt welcomed. Would give it another shot if I returned to viejo San Juan. Food was good and reasonably priced.
Our local friend took us to this cafeteria. I have to say it’s amazing.
Love the ambience of the place, really calm and cool. When we came it we thought there would be more food to pick from, but it is a cafe tho so not mad at that. Disappointed at the customer service, we came in confused not knowing where to look for a menu or what to choose. All that we got was a indirect good morning that wasn’t even with eye contact. We came to the counter, we were looking at the menu in the chalk board. Out of the 3 employees not a single one asked us what we were looking for, what they could help us with or if there was anything they could help us with. The 3 were just in a have fun mood. Point is, we left looking for another place. What people don’t know is that, most of the times what sells the items is the employee selling the item. Doing whatever it takes to please the customer and making sure that the visit is wonderful. Great ambience tho.
Great little coffee shop hidden in old San Juan. The coffee is the best Ive found in the city, and the food great. Friendly staff. Signage to find the place is lacking so pay attention, but its worth it. My only complaint would be the wait time. They may need more staff on a busy day.
That sure was a happy place. I was on vacation in Puerto Rico and I had my Trump 2020 shirt on. I got so many compliments. People were just happy and that’s good. Many people told me that I was a role model for taking a stand and doing the right thing. I think I’ll wear my Jesus T-shirts more now too. This was a good place with great open conversation. I highly recommend you go there.
Good iced coffee
I visit this coffee shop frequently and the food is very good with decent prices. I must say though my last two experiences were not great, the staff in particular was not friendly and the chef refused to make us french toast because he said he didn’t have time for that!Great place and location nonetheless...
This is the place for good coffee in Old San Juan! We went back several times and had excellent espresso, perfectly steamed milk, and smooth iced coffee. You can’t go wrong!
The place is nice and well decorated. The young guy doing the register was, not surprisingly, not very friendly and lacks good customer service. We ordered two cafe latte and really enjoyed them . We will definitely go back, hopefully better customer service next time.
This little coffee shop was a welcome respite on a very hot day. Delicious iced coffee and a cute and comfortable place to sit and enjoy it. What more can you ask for?
Great spot for delicious coffee and small meals. While weekend brunch has the most options, theres both sweet and savory options on the weekdays, including a great veggie omelet. Prices are affordable and staff are friendly.
One of my favorite coffee places in Old San Juan and the vibe is terrific because of the musicians, dancers, the Museum of the Americas which celebrates the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean. My favorite gift shop is located the where one can find objects like Santos, paper masks and jewelry crafted by local artisans. The building is a large one that housed soldiers and has a large courtyard and restaurant facing the ocean.
