She also provided information on financial assistance to help me pay for new hearing aids. Her office was very pleasant, easy to find with plenty of parking nearby. It is also close to 2 bus lines. Dr Beer follows safe protocols for COVID-19. I highly recommend her!!!

Melissa Wilson Beer is an excellent doctor: she is especially great with my 6-year-old daughter (calming, patient, caring) and has provided top-notch service with real attention to detail.We went to Sound Speech and Hearing after my daughter was first diagnosed with hearing loss. She conducted a full exam, created a custom mold and worked with us to find the right ear piece for the hearing aid. After a few months, though, my daughter asked to switch out her pediatric piece for an adult-size option. Melissa helped create another custom piece (and worked with the manufacturer to build it) so my daughter was comfortable and confident with her hearing aid. My daughter now wears her hearing aid daily and most importantly, feels good about it. I am very grateful for this practice and the exceptional level of service.

Very professional and very accommodating. Had a problem when one hearing aid that stopped working. I called and was quickly given an appointment the next day. Came in, and within 15 minutes or so the hearing aid was repaired with no charge because it was still under warranty. What a pleasant surprise as I was expecting to pay.

Our son was recently diagnosed with a couple learning disabilities that we wanted further testing on. Unfortunately we do not have anywhere in our area to service families like ours. Although we were very fortunate to be referred to the Sound, Speech and Hearing clinic. The staff is very warm, helpful, loving, sensitive and kind. They worked for us and with us in this process. Their environment is welcoming and comfortable. The audiologist, Melissa Wilson-Beer is awesome. She talked with us with compassion and understanding. She was great with our son too. I feel very comfortable with her diagnosis and know that I could go to them for further support if needed.

Nicole was our primary therapist, and she is amazing! My shy son warmed up to her quickly. She provided lots of insight and always answered any questions that would come up whether at the visit or via email. She also helped us in coordinating with teachers at my sons school. We also saw Jody a few times when scheduling conflicts came up, and she is great as well. Both are very professional, warm, highly skilled therapists. I also appreciate that they collaborate and discuss how things are going and proposals for continued treatment so you benefit from all of Sounds professionals experience! WE LOVE NICOLE!

Our first-grader had a central auditory processing exam at Sound. We arrived stressed and late, but the audiologist received us warmly and professionally and quickly put my son at ease. She didnt talk down to him, and carefully and clearly explained what was happening during the test. Though the sound booth wasnt much fun for him, he came out calm and smiling. No wonder Sound was recommended to us as great for kids. What a lovely, peaceful reception area, too, with space & toys for kids and comfortable seating. We parked at Whole Foods nearby.

We have been to numerous audiologists for my hearing challenged child and we feel so fortunate to have found Sound! for our son. Melissa is a wonderful audiologist, she is child friendly (very important when working with young kiddos), knowledgeable and able to explain to us the tests they run on our child and has been so helpful and garnering support for our family.As for the speech therapists, they are *all* fabulous to work with. We’ve been with Sound! for long enough for our kiddo to have had sessions with all of them and if we ask who his favorite is, he says they are all nice ❤️There are many good audiologists and speech therapists out there, but for us, Melissa, Jody, Nicole, and Julia are the best so were 100% staying with Sound! I should also mention that Dani is a great front desk person that is efficient and kind with scheduling and billing. All around a great team at Sound!

She is clearly knowledgeable in working with children with hearing loss and has made the experience fun with SO MANY useful toys and tips! She is thorough and organized -- I love her weekly recap emails. Additionally, Melissa was savvy at navigating the insurance system facilitating approval (even though they are out of network for us). My little sister Summer has been Jody’s patient for near three years. Jody and staff are very kind and professional. Summer learnt techniques from Jody at each Grade to cope with new academic challenges, due to her reciprocal speech issues. Before COVID-19, Summer enjoyed going to SHC weekly to “ hang out” with her friend Jody. Now, she is having fun via zoom to learn from Judy. One more thing, Jody is great at collaborating with school teachers in order to provide the best help to her young patients.

Three years ago, I went to Melissa Wilson Beer to discuss my difficulty hearing in a variety of environments. She was very professional, but at the same time, friendly and helpful . After testing my hearing and listening to all my concerns, she suggested I try different hearing aids to see which one worked best for me. After choosing the one I liked best, she continued monitoring my hearing and servicing all my needs for three years. In a word she is wonderful. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs professional help with their hearing. You wont be disappointed. The only disappointment I have is that I moved from San Francisco, and she will no longer be my doctor.

Working with Nicole has been great and I love her approach to helping my 20 month old son. She is wonderful with children, full of energy, and well informed. She also takes the time to help my husband and me develop and use strategies to support my son in gaining communicative gestures and language, which is of course critical to his treatment and something I really appreciate.

I got my first ever hearing aids from Melissa about a year ago. What a fantastic experience it has been! My re entry to the wide world of nuanced sounds continues to be thrilling while the volume on my appreciation knob for my ears, as it were, has been turned way the heck up.So there are my awesome high quality hearing aides, but then there is Melissa! And that whole hearing and sound crew! I feel like a kid again going to see my childhood dentist, because of happy-to-see-me Dr P and that stuffed treasure chest I got to visit after the check ups. I always felt lucky leaving that office, and was sad my friends didnt get to see Dr P too.Now I get to see Dr M! She hugs me! She gives me stickers and multi colored neon earplugs! She has taught me to be very grateful for the hearing I have instead of feeling mopey for my hearing loss. Nicole has been working with us since October and she is awesome! She is communicative, open, and warm. She is very informative and answers questions thoroughly, Sara is the first face you get to see when entering the office, and she always has a beautiful smile and happy welcoming! Jody and Melissa have created a beautiful Zen office to focus and work on your speech. The billing system is easy to follow, and they are very helpful with any insurance questions. Weve learned lots of great tools!

I visited Sound Speech and Hearing Clinic to have custom ear plugs made for my chronic ear infections. I cannot recommend them more! Everyone at the office was beyond helpful and even helped me book an ENT appointment for later in the week. I had no idea what to expect during my appointment but Melissa talked me through the whole process and even sat down with me to explain the anatomy of my ear. It was such a fun experience.

This clinic has an amazing audiologist! My children loved Melissa for their hearing tests. We are also seeing the speech therapist Jody and Nicole and both of my children love going to see them. They are very knowledgeable and have wonderful skills to work with children and keep them motivated! I can’t say enough about this clinic

Dr. Beer has been seeing my daughter since G was a toddler. Dr. Beer is gentle and attentive. I just started to see her and she is honest about different product offerings. The office is clean and staff is very friendly. As a new patient, you will have no regrets on choosing SSHC.

The staff at Sound Speech and Hearing Clinic are very kind, friendly, supportive, and patient. They helped me with my voice, but they also helped me cope with the transphobic policies and attitudes of my horrible insurance company (Blue Shield). They waited to collect any payment from me until I had appealed Blue Shields decision to refuse me coverage 3 times. After the 3rd appeal, Blue Shield was forced to cover me by the California Department of Managed Healthcare, and SSH received full payment for the speech services they provided me (4 months after I received them). I hear that most transgender patients there dont face nearly as much difficulty with Blue Shield, usually they are fully covered, but nevertheless I am truly grateful for how patient Speech Sound and Hearing Clinic handled it when my insurance company challenged my eligibility.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Melissa explained everything clearly and was very gentle and thoughtful with my baby. An overall good experience.
