Customer service not so great, kudos to the over amp security guard and staff for not realizing who they should of followed. Either learn how to get better lost preven services, or you probably will catch a lawsuit instead of a thieves. Selection is great, lots of choices and options. But again to there lack of proper training in L.P. & Customer service, but thank you super helpful guy in back of store dont know your name wish I did only helpful person in the store who knew where things were and was attentive to Customer service.

Randy in the painting department was such a fantastic help! He took the time to review all of our colors and made sure we were hitting the tones for our big painting project. When I came to tell him how one color was a little too dark, he lightened it for me! Randy is so knowledgeable about paint, colors and everything at the store. While mixing my paint he was still answering and helping every other customer that came to the counter. What a guy! Thanks Randy! I’ll always come back to discount builder!

Make sure you know your stuff before going here. One of the older guys near the hardware section will be extremely rude to you if you ask him a basic yes or no question. They expect you to know everything rather than educating you or simply just being nice to you.

Being a jack of all of the Trades, Discount Builders is a great place to get what you need to service your home, office, or business. And the location near the downtown area is optimum for me.

This is my favorite hardware store by far for electrical, plumbing, tools,, and lumber. Their inventory is way better than any big box store. They also have a great special order department for pros and DIY fanatics.

Discount Builders Supply is locally owned and has a HUGE selection of anything handy. They have it all, from kitchen appliances to gravel and soil. They are conveniently located near the freeway, theyre walking distance from a Muni line (the 49 or Van Ness station) and have a ton a free parking. Its a workers paradise! I often find that when I visit I add additional, superfluous items to my basket, even when I go in looking for just one, because I know they will come in handy. Definitely check them out before the big box whatsoevers and support locally owned.

I have been shopping from this place for years and today one of the arrogant person made my mind to not to go there again. I said hi 2 times he didnt even answer, He wasnt wearing a mask, asked him to wear then he got more offended when I warned him. I told what happened to the manager he didnt warned him. This place is a locally-owned business and the service I received was friendly and informed. It had exactly what I was looking for (tape measure, scrap wood, wire, & mailbox letters). I will def. be a returning customer.

Large store with everything from custom screens to custom cabinets and Lumber to Lighting. Also, they carry all the tools needed whether your a DIY homeowner/renter or an independent contractor. They do have a parking lot for customers.

This place is great! They have great customer service. They also have lot of supplies that you couldnt find in other places because they are no longer in the market. For example I was able to find belts for my vacuum that I couldnt find anywhere else.

After dropping $700 on redwood to make planters, I went to the hardware aisle. Mistake. The employee was rude, condescending, and delighted by the fact that I did not know the exact name of the bracket I needed to finish my project. Although I had told him that what I was building. Ugh. Would like to support local businesses but not coming back here. Helpful hint: Do not make your customers feel like idiots. #hardwareshoppingwhilefemale

Always the best place for your DIY jobs

I cannot tell you the joy this place brings me! Lets be clear, I geek out on this stuff, and would happily spend a rainy day in a hardware store, but they have everything! I needed some zip ties, they have a wall of them! The other thing I love is I can come in with a weird request - Im trying to do X and cant figure out how. Theyll take the time to figure the project out with me and the best approach. It seems like they enjoy a periodic challenge.

Today, I was treated very rudely by an employee at the paint department. I was not able to get his name but he is a thin, young guy. I have been going to this store for 30 years and had always been treated very well. Until today. The other employees at the paint department witnessed the very unpleasant incident. For that, I give my experience a one star.

Lots of choice and great prices in the city

I called to find a out if they had a particular screw I was looking for and the service person went to find it. They had it in stock and was told where to find it. At the store people were helpful and I got in and got out. Great service and they have an extensive selection of hardware and supplies.

Are you tired of wandering around Home Depot or Lowes begging for some assistance?! I know I am!!! I went to 3 Home Depots and 2 Lowes only to still not have what I needed. Then I decided to try Discount Builders, where I met Neil. Neil is one of their amazing sales reps so in 7 mins not only solved my problem but came up with a better solution than I had. He listened to me like he actually cared about my projects success and together we came up with solutions! The lady at the register who super polite and gave great customer service as well. The prices might be a little more but I dont even care because of the customer service I received!! FORGET THOSE BIG RETAILS AND THEIR ATTITUDES, THAT CANT BE BOTHERED TO ANSWER A QUESTION!!!! Best place for grabbing actual hardware supplies when you need them.

I took a window frame with a broken pull tab to the store to see if they carry the pull tab, or have to replace the screen, in order to install the new pull tab. They can do both, and the estimate is very reasonable.Sergio, a store colleague, recommended replacing the pull tab only, after inspecting the quality of the existing screen and told me the isle number. To my pleasant surprise, he even offered to install them at no charge ! While I was looking for the item in the isle for like 5 minutes, he walked over and helped me locate it, what an attentive service !Sergio provided excellent customer services.A big thank you for a good job !!!

Not discount. Unfriendly when you try to return something. I was told you can return without 45 days, but when I went to return something, I was told 3 days return policy; clerk said go look at the (small) sign in the electrical department. Not good. Also, Lowes or online have better prices.
