Christina did my makeup for my wedding and did such a WONDERFUL job. She really took the time and care to create a look for me that I felt matched my personality and was exactly what I wanted. After the wedding makeup trial with her, not only did I not want to wash off the makeup, but I was EVEN MORE excited about my wedding, knowing how beautiful my makeup would be. :-)She is also a TOTAL professional -- she worked with my wedding venue (I had to get ready in the churchs small backroom) and within my tight time constraints (she did me and my maid-of-honor) and even the folks at the venue said they had never seen such efficiency!On top of all of this, she has her own makeup line, and I got a wonderful creme lip pencil from her that I wear all the time now.I cant recommend Christina highly enough!! And my mom LOVED HER!

I recently visited Christina Chois studio before a branding photoshoot, and had a great experience. First of all, she took every COVID precaution possible and I felt super safe the entire time. The makeup was natural, fit my look, and really popped for the photoshoot while holding up nicely throughout the day. I typically have sensitive skin, and her cosmetics line did not agitate it at all.

For my birthday this year, I decided to treat myself to a private makeup class with Christina. I have been using the same four things for years and have been feeling like it’s time to step up my game for a while now, I just didn’t know where to start.Christina was super wonderful during the whole session. She listened to all my concerns, answered all my questions, and recorded everything into little chunks of video so I could watch on my own time. She would do half my face and then have me do the other half as she watched and offered suggestions. She also incorporates makeup you already own into the process so you are not forced to buy a bunch of things.I would highly recommend you reach out to her if you’re interested in something like this too. She also has group classes if a private lesson is not for you. And while she specializes in makeup for Asians, she has tons of experience so she can help anyone. 😉 She’s also one of the nicest people I’ve met here in the Bay, so I’m going to shamelessly promote her!

I had an incredible experience with Christina Choi. She was a godsend on my wedding day. She gave me a beautiful, dramatic, but natural look that made me look glamorous but still feel like myself. I got so many compliments on that day and still do now, weeks later. Aside from her expert makeup artistry skills, Christina is very kind and listens carefully to what her client wants. I had had to fire the makeup artist I previously hired, so I was nervous and tense about using a new makeup artist on the wedding day. But, Christina acted like both a professional and a friend, and calmed my nerves while applying my makeup and lashes with a gentle hand. My makeup was comfortable and going strong, with no fading or creasing, after a 14-hour day! Christina also did my mothers makeup, making her look naturally beautiful--it was like seeing my mom as she was 30 years ago. I should also mention that Christina has her own line of beautiful color cosmetics, and I know from first-hand experience that they are top notch. It was a pleasure and honor working with Christina and I hope to do so again!

Christina is a 10 out of 10 for me! I just completed a virtual makeup class via zoom and couldnt be more happy with the results. Christina guided me with correct makeup application and I loved the tricks she showed for flawless makeup. Ive been playing with my makeup for a long time, but Christinas tips were so helpful and specifically catered to my eye shape. Im a transgender woman, making the transition in my forties. Having lived my adolescence—and the first half of my life—as a male, my knowledge of aesthetics and cosmetics was superficial at best, and often completely wrong. While I had no problem identifying looks that I liked, attempts at recreating them usually failed, and I knew that it was likely due to a big gap in my basic knowledge. In my search for help with basic skills, I was introduced to Christina. From our very first correspondence, I knew that I was in the hands of a true professional.When I arrived at Christinas bright and cheery Union Square studio, I was greeted with a warm smile, a lovely view of the city, and an array of delicious treats. I explained to her that I was really looking to learn the basics, and that I wanted to leave with an everyday, natural look—something I could wear to the office, and modify for the evening—which would emphasize the features of my face that I really liked, and maybe reveal some I didnt know I had. And crucially, something that I knew I could recreate. She took it all in, and we got to work.Christinas approach is collaborative and and communicative. As we worked, she explained each product, process and tool—its purpose, how it works, and how essential it is. She demonstrated each technique, and then observed and guided me as I reproduced her work. Of course, I was full of questions. Christina not only cheerily answered everything, she took clear delight in seeing my progression. Throughout our session, Christina shot multiple videos of me performing applications under her guidance. I refer back to these frequently, not just for a refresher, but also to re-experience her encouragement.Together, Christina and I developed a look that brought out the true me, one thats been indispensable in guiding the rest of my aesthetic. I left Christinas studio with a level of confidence Ive rarely felt, and for that Ill be forever grateful. There are few greater gifts than a great teacher, and a great teacher delights in her students illumination. Christinas joy in helping me was contagious, and is reflected in the smile I give myself in the mirror every day.

Christina Choi was so lovely to work with. When shes doing your makeup, she makes you feel like the most beautiful person in the world. I loved our trial session--I brought the makeup I use on a daily basis, we talked about what kind of look I wanted, we did some experimentation, we talked about longevity and did color matching, etc. Before the day of, she coordinated with our day-of coordinator to come up with a schedule for my bridal party/family and made everyone up so beautifully. It was important for me to look glam but like myself, and looking back at the photos, Christina definitely achieved that. In terms of longevity, my makeup lasted all day through two ceremonies from 9am - 11pm in terms of foundation, lashes, and color. Through pictures, my sister powdered me once in the afternoon around 3pm, but that was it (which is shocking because it was 100+ degrees). I reapplied the lip product after eating.Another special thing is that as an Asian person, it meant a lot for Christina to do my makeup because I felt that she really understood how to do my makeup, how to work with my monolids; not to mention she has tons of experience prior with BareMinerals and her own namesake makeup line. If I were based in SF, I would definitely try to go to her makeup tutorials and workshops!

Christina is an experienced make up professional who is compassionate and passionate about her business. I learned of her when volunteering with Dress For Success SF, a local nonprofit at which she also volunteers. I started following her on Instagram and related to and admired her story - a sister Asian-American who grew up not fitting the Western ideal of beauty and frustrated with make up products and methods that didnt suit us. Whereas, I mostly rejected wearing a lot of make up, Christina turned this challenge into her mission and passion and started her own business.I didnt actually meet Christina in person until a year later when I signed up for her Asian Eye Makeup workshop. I loved meeting her and enjoyed the workshop. I agree with my fellow reviewers who say that she makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. Her cosmetic line is really fabulous - her make up is made of high quality natural ingredients and feels good. I love her lip crayon - my lips stay moisturized all day - and her BB cream. I dont like wearing foundation because it often feels like heavy mask on my face but her BB cream is very light in weight, feel, and appearance. I can see that it makes a difference in terms of coverage and smoothing out my complexion but otherwise I can barely tell its there and the weight is negligible. She has custom make up brushes that are better suited for most Asian features as well. I learned some great pro tips on how to better apply make up in general and specifically for my features.Ive also had the opportunity to work with Christina in my own business as a photographer. Shes done make up for my business branding clients before I take their new portraits and head shots. As with my own experience, she makes them look and feel beautiful, warming them up before they are in front of my camera. Her touch makes a big difference for my clients and me. My clients look amazing with their camera-ready make up, are more relaxed and at ease. Afterwards, my retouching work is far less than when a client comes without any make up or having done their own make up. I love referring my professional portrait and head shot clients to Christina for their make up.I am a big fan of Christina and her product and services!!
