I had been searching for a Japanese screw punch to use for bookbinding and am so happy with the one I received from Paper Tree. It works so well and I can see it lasting for many years. My order also included paper, which arrived in perfect condition! The care they put into packaging their orders is incredible.

A hidden gem in Japan Town. As most other reviews mention, this is a one-stop shop for all your origami needs. It also works as a really good shop for buying gifts for friends. There are so many traditional japanese things here like Miku paper and so on.If you need any help, the shopkeepers are really good at helping and understanding what you need.Bonus: They have lot of origami artwork in display, no pictures allowed so keep phones in pocket but they are beautiful to look at and wonder. There are also classes that are head where they invite world famous origami artists. Make sure you talk to them about that.

Thank you Paper Tree for offering to mail us paper for all our happy origami folding activities! Our order was placed on Tuesday night. It was shipped the following morning and arrived this afternoon in a USPS Priority cardboard mailer. My son held his breath as he opened the box, then breathed a huge sigh of relief when he saw the stacks of papers were carefully wrapped in packing paper and bubble wrap. Everything remained flat and no corners were bent - a true testament to the care you put into ensuring your products arrive in perfect condition. We always visit your store when we visit San Francisco. We cannot wait to return to see you all again.Be safe, stay healthy.

Family-run paper store. Everything you need for origami or any paper project. Great selection of Japanese paper. Linda and Vicky Mihara are well known Origami teachers and artists. Their parents are there at the store daily. Linda and Vickys grandfather wrote the first english origami book in the 1950s. Worth a visit.

Lovely products and good customer service, as someone who has look at these same products in other stores I can say that some of the things they sell feel a little overpriced, nothing ridiculous, and it might just be a result of shopping between different states, regardless of that, it did not harm my experience enough to stop me from buying a lot in my visit.

Full disclosure: My dad and I make homemade cards sold at Paper Tree.Paper Tree has the most extensive inventory of origami papers and books I have seen outside Japan. It is a must-see place for anyone enjoys origami or wants to get started. The store gallery of origami works by world-class designers and folders is impressive.I believe I first visited the store nearly thirty years ago...when it was already twenty years old. It is a Japantown institution, one of three remaining Japanese family-run businesses, and they are very active in both the local Japantown community and the worldwide origami community.Beyond just origami, they carry a large selection of Japanese washi paper, other craft supplies/books, gifts, and office supplies. For some reason they also have a lot of Totoro items.

Do you love origami? Do you love washi (Japanese paper)? Then youll dig this spot. This unassuming little shop in the cobblestone plaza area of J-Town has the best assortment of origami Ive ever encountered. Even origami squares that are one inch across for that special gnome origami affecionado in your life. They also sell other gift-y items like those kawaii Japanese erasers and other Japanese omiyage (gifts). I bought a childrens book on the kappa - a mythical water-dwelling beast that has been rumored to lure children to their watery grave. But of course in true Japanese illustration, it is very cute and smiley.Hey, even if you dont have enough spatial skills to fold a paper airplane, you should still check out this shop. They currently have an origami exhibit that will amaze you. Dragons, creatures and the like come to life out of a flat piece of paper. Also my aunt sells her beautiful handmade cards here. Check out Donna Ueda Creations - they are truly one of a kind creations!

Came in to get legitimate origami paper.I despise improperly sized origami paper as it ruins the craft from the beginning.Their designs range goes from solid matte colors to minimal patterns with gold butterflies. Cant say that I could find anything similar to Paper Tree in the East Bay.
