Tldr: got to try a bunch of violin with a fantastic owner into the after hours of the store and am a happy owner of a new violin that comes with a case and a bow!Loved the fact that the owner wears a mask. Came in today and got to try out 3 different violins. The worker (which I assume is the owner) was very patient with me and it was so much fun to work with him. Im an amateur violinist but I didnt like the way my violin sounded, not because of skill, but because of the tone. My violin and bow also had several problems that made it unbearable. Erik let me played the violins and he also demoed the violin for me so I was able to judge the tonality of each instrument, and that made deciding the violin that I wanted so much easier. He is very knowledgable about a lot of detail and nuances of the violin and bow, and knows his stuff! Also he was not pushy to me at all. Just an overall great guy! Definitely recommend!

Picked up a rental cello, no appointment necessary. I am genuinely shocked at the quality of the instrument as it is significantly nicer looking / sounding than a cello rental from a general music store, and in the same price range! I’m definitely going to be coming back here to purchase a cello when I’m ready.

Eric is an absolute gentleman. I called about a violin I inherited, and was having trouble finding anyone who would talk to me about it. He was extremely helpful and knowledgable, pointed me in the right direction, and gave me some very good advice. Thank you so much for giving a non-player the same respect as a pro. I definitely recommend this shop over any other in SD.

We thank you all so much for your help. I was helping my nephew with his violin when the E string broke.. we wanted to get it fixed before I left out of town.. we called San Diego violins and they had no E strings in stock. My nephew had a couple of unidentifiable strings in his case. We took them to San Diego Violins and they graciously put the string on and tuned the violin! We appreciate the help!

A wonderful place to rent or purchase a violin. I went in here after years of curiosity about violins. The shop keeper has a vast amount of knowledge and will lead you in the right direction. I was able to rent a nice violin for a month so I could learn to play. Extremely affordable and a perfect way to learn or test out a violin.

Good rental prices and good prices for buying. Rentals include instrument, shoulder rest (for viola and violin), rosin, bow, and case. I highly recommend this place, got my first viola there.

The owner is incredibly nice and helpful. I bought a violin from the previous business, Hammond and Ashley, and would occasionally come here to get my strings replaced. He would do it for free!
