The staff is efficient, friendly, and accessible, and they set me up with hearing aids that suit my needs. With an opening sentence like that, youd expect to see more than two stars. Unfortunately, the experience is ruined by their poor billing practices. Going in, I understood that Id have to pay for my hearing aids mostly out of my pocket, but my insurance would certainly cover a portion (after subtracting the discount, the deductible, and the coinsurance). So on the day I received my hearing aids I paid in full, and I asked them to bill my insurance. They didnt. Two weeks later at the first checkup (again friendly, efficient staff), I asked if my insurance had been billed yet. It hadnt. So I requested again for my insurance to be billed. They finally did bill my insurance. Then they billed me *again* for the part my insurance didnt cover (even though I had already paid in full). So now my account shows two line items for the hearing aid. The first one fully paid by me, and the second one, partially paid by insurance, and theyve billed me for the rest. When I got the balance due noticed, I called to straighten it out. The billing department said, No problem, itll be straightened out in two weeks. Now its three weeks later, and they still show that I have a balance due. In fact, they owe me money. So anyway: great staff, horrible billing department.

I had an ear surgery scheduled about three week ago. I am very happy with the results. Dr. Mehta’s surgery scheduler was amazing and his Medical assistant was too. They gave me all the information I needed and made me feel I was in good hands. The place was very clean and organized. 10 stars out of 5, highly recommend!

SSCD/SCDS Patients - Do NOT come to this office. My 4 years of experience will explain why...In 2017 Dr. Audrey Calzada properly diagnosed me with SSCD and for that I am thankful. She was smart and caring but released me from her care because she confessed that she didnt understand the condition well. So I began to consult with Dr. Mehta who proceeded to tell me that the only fix they would offer is a Round Window Closure Procedure, also known as a Third Window Closure Procedure. I was naive and trusting, and Ive since found that the Third Window procedure has a ridiculously high failure rate, and that there is a SSCD specialized team at UCLA performing minimally invasive middle fossa craniotomy for SSCD patients, which is the recommended procedure to maximally fix the condition. This seems to have been known to Dr. Mehta, because my doctor at UCLA years later said oh yes, we know him. This is immensely frustrating because I had asked who I could go to for a second opinion and was never given these specialists as an option. The procedure itself was traumatic, I was left in an immense amount of pain, and my autophony symptoms and vestibular migraines became WORSE over the next two years. When I brought this up in my follow-ups I was told I had no other options and that middle fossa craniotomy was too risky and so therefore I wouldnt be able to receive one. I was not even told that I could seek another doctor experienced and willing enough to perform one. In the weeks following the failed surgery I had an audiogram during which I was told I was fixed because my low frequency hearing had changed. Mind you, anyone suffering with SSCD and any doctor who knows the condition understands that hearing isnt the main problem - that we suffer with autophony, vestibular migraines and the like a hell of a lot more than mild hearing loss.Fast forward years later and Ive now had two middle fossa craniotomies at UCLA, which was a very pleasant experience. This doesnt change the fact that SSCD issues remain present and that dizziness and vestibular migraines can be caused by loud high pitched noises. Because UCLA is far and this place already had my info on file, I decided what harm could be done during a hearing test? Ive had so many of these, theyre simple - and came back to CALHNS for an audiogram. Well, turns out, even the audio techs can be awful. This lady ran the noise full blast on me so hard it initiated a migraine within the first 2 minutes. No awareness, no apologies, no foresight. Ive so had it with these people. As for the admin side, Ive had numerous negative experiences trying to get them to call me back for appointments, begging them for the millionth time to send records to my new doctors, or even to myself. Im sure some of them are well-meaning lovely people but good god, the disconnect is crazy-making.The point of this review is that, if you have SSCD, also known as SCDS, this office will not offer you proper care in any capacity. Reach out to UCLA Head and Neck Surgery. They are the only ones who can offer the proper care that you need and they are some of the best in the country. And if you need to get tests done locally, find a different office. Be wary of who you let operate on you (and, I guess, perform an audiogram on you!)

I went to this location for my ear infection. First visit with Dr Mehta was nice. He diagnosed the problem and I had immediate relief. They scheduled the follow-up with Dr Cheng and that was the most expensive 10min visit I had ever had. I was completely healed so the Dr just had to confirm but he ended up looking through my nose for sinus and now when I see the bill I see a charge for $700 nasal endoscopy along with other Dr visit charges!! Avoid and find a better reasonable place who is not trying to rip you off. And, good luck trying to get hold of them afterwards.

The office is nice and clean, the people are friendly, and the location is easy to get to.I went twice. My initial visit was with a doctor who did great. He treated exactly what I was there for, sent me off for a CT scan and some prescriptions that really helped. I was there for something that was a lifelong issue. My only thing with the first doctor is I wish it was more of an education experience. Instead of only saying this is what is wrong and how we will fix it, showing me the images and walking me through what each issue actually means would have been cool. I am trusting so I went with the prescriptions and all worked out.For my follow up, I waited 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment to get in. The front desk would not let me reschedule which was super annoying. I got in, the doctor looked at me for 5 mins max then sent me off. I was so frustrated I forgot to ask her about my CT scan that I paid $220 ( total after the bill arrived) but shouldnt the doctor follow up on that? After insurance both visits were expensive and not insightful. I feel like I wasted my time and money, especially on the second visit. I also emailed them about it with no response. So as for the lifelong issue... I went to a new ENT doctor this week in Regents row of UTC. She showed me the inside of my nose, walked me through my CT scan, explained what it was the first doctor saw in the nose microscope (she saw it too), she gave me options, talked me through the possible lifetime solutions and I made my decision. It was a much better experience.

Could not smell for the past two years. My headaches were constant. I had two previous surgeries that did not accomplish solving my headaches and sense of smell. It was a nightmare to be congested for so many years. Then I met Dr Chang. After my surgery by Dr Chang I regained my smell and to date have no headaches. She is truly special and has unbelievable skills. She treated me well before and after surgery. She is a ten out of ten.Thank you with all my heart Dr Chang.

They are the worst. Please do yourself a favor and choose another clinic. I was waiting for Dr Changs assistant to order my CT for more than a month and She still hasnt ordered it yet. I understand that sometimes there is a problem to order but of course it shouldnt take that long specially after calling them 1000 times. I dont know how she can handle other stuff when she cannot even order a CT and figure out the problem. So disappointed and im going to change my clinic.

California Head & Neck Specialists office staff refuse to answer the telephone. I have tried calling for 5 days in a row during their office hours. I have left multiple voicemails, all have gone unanswered. I faxed a request for my medical records to be sent to another physicians office two weeks ago. My fax machine showed that the fax was received, yet the medical records were never sent. Patient service by the office staff is totally unacceptable.

Very poor treatment of their patients by the office staff, particularly Tiffany. From the get go it took them almost 3 1/2 months to refer me out for a barium swallow test. I had to keep calling them to remind them to please send out the Referral then when I finally got in to Scripps for the test I was never given my results that were sent to the office. and when I called for them finally 4 weeks after being seen at Scripps for a test to check my throat I found out that there was a nodule detected on my RT lung, most likely nothing to worry about I hope but regardless she was rude and annoyed with me when I asked her to please have DR.Ruther contact me to see if she could directly refer me to a pulmonologist, she rudely snapped at me that this was NOT possible and said I’m transferring you. My insurance called them and also said Tiffany was extremely rude and unhelpful and she still refused to send the Dr who is now on maternity leave a simple request via e mail for a referral to the other specialist. They rarely answer their phones there and seem more interested in selling their Botox treatments and cosmetic stuff that you hear about while on incredibly long hold times. Dr. Ruther is kind and a good doctor but her staff is very unprofessional and this lady Tiffany was outwright rude to me and to my insurance who was trying to help speed up the referral process. I hope I don’t have anything serious because if I did and I hadn’t called them I wouldn’t have even known. I am very disappointed.

Dr. Mehta is a miracle worker. He saved me from a life of isolation. No one wants to talk to someone who can’t hear. I went to lunch with friends, and I may as well have stayed home. He is Harvard trained and confident without being haughty. He is really compassionate in addition to being a marvelous surgeon. He operated on me for a Cochlear Implant Nov. 25, 2014. It was painless, easy and exciting. Recovery was really brief, a couple of days. He activated the CI in December. What a Christmas present! IIMMEDIATELY I could hear! Dr. Sasha Fischang was my audiologist. She has been fabulous. She and the doctor determined a CI was appropriate for me. Sasha has encouraged me, taught me, and it feels like she is a close friend. Every month my hearing has improved, and 6 months later, it has only gotten better and better. If it had never gotten better after the first week, I would have been grateful. I heard that MUCH better-that soon. This ear will probably be my “better ear” shortly! My brain is still learning how to hear from what was a totally deaf ear. A virus killed my hearing in that ear. I miss a word occasionally, but so do people with good hearing in noisy places! I can play bridge, have lunch and date again! In short, he and Sasha gave me back my life. If you have any doubts about getting a CI, ask Dr. Mehta or Sasha for my phone number. I would be happy to talk to you.Thank you, thank you for giving me my life back!!!

My first visit with Dr. Mehta was a second opinion regarding a possible bilateral stapedectomy. His explanation of the surgery and possible complications was very thorough, and he answered all questions without hesitation.I just had my follow-up audiogram and the improvement is amazing! My quality of life has improved dramatically and I am very thankful for Dr. Mehtas skill and ability. I also appreciate that kind staff at both the office and the surgical center.
