Guys, THIS IS IT!this was one of the most delicious breakfast meals I have had in years.I’m not even a waffle fan in general, but listen: the bacon filled waffle with chicken (that is fried to perfection—super crispy and WELL SEASONED) got me!Side note: if you like churros, my buddy got the churro waffle and it was 🔥. Get the breakfast potatoes instead of the hashbrowns. Again, VERY well seasoned and flavorful. They are large cut, so you may suspect (like I did) they wouldn’t be well cooked inside, but they were PERFECT.And if she is available, ask for Paula to be your waitress. She is passionate about her job, knows the menu, and just has the best personality. I love people who love where they work and are excited about what they do.

Food is delicious and big portions. Love the decorations and lay out of the interior. Wish we couldve had outside seating but the were shortstaffed like most other businesses now. I ordered the classic, chicken and waffles and my girlfriend ordered the egg waffles Benedict. Absolutely phenomenal

2nd best breakfast place* and best waffle house I have ever been to! Restaurant mentioned on a sign that it was short staffed, but welcomed us in and got us sat fairly quickly! Our server took excellent care of us. We got hot chocolates while waiting for our food, and these were delectable. Each cup came with a tower of super thick and rich whipped cream that doubled the height of the cup.I ordered a red velvet waffle breakfast platter (platter coming with eggs, hash browns, sausage AND bacon for only $2 extra), and my wife got an apple-cinnamon waffle breakfast platter. We shared waffles too, so that apple-cinnamon waffle was the best waffle Ive ever had, with the red velvet one coming in 2nd place. We were both stuffed too - I had to finish my wifes plate because she couldnt finish 1/4 of the waffle or some of her bacon.If you are in San Diego, you MUST have breakfast here! I am very happy that the Waffle Spot is open and taking precautions for guests safety. There is plenty of parking on the east side and currently you enter through the Amigo Spot patio. As of Feb 4 there is only outdoor dining on their patio that has been substantially extended into the parking lot. Its covered to protect from the elements, but some sunshine still found its way to our table 😊Waffles are always perfect.

I love coming here. Our server Paula always makes us feel right at home and brings such a great sense of humor to our visits. Although all the servers are friendly, she is the most impressionable and always unforgettable. It is impressive she can remember all our extra requests for more napkins or extra (blank) while keeping us laughing with her great sense of humor. The food is perfect comfort breakfast food with huge portions. I order the El Vegetariano Casserole and never knew veggies could taste so good on eggs, cheese and potatoes. I love this place and Paula is always an added treat to our visits.

Well I thought it would be much better! My French toast was fine, though one was very soggy and not cool through. My daughter got the waffles and asked for strawberries on top, she was disappointed to find out they weren’t fresh strawberries, just thawed strawberries! Nothing wrong with that if you like that soggy waffles! Service was friendly and quick though!

Pretty sad I didnt get to try this place out. We went in on Wednesday late morning and the hostess was so awful. She proceed to stare and not greet us or say anything. She wasnt even on her phone. She was just staring and we waited for a minute and then she looked at us and we initiated and said we would like a table for 3. And she said it would be a 20 minute wait. We said ok. Gave her our name and phone number. And her attitude of just not caring over poured. We decided to see what was around and went to Crust Kitchen instead and what a difference! We were greeted so kindly and they were super friendly there. Maybe next time we are in town, we will give this place another try. Hopefully you will have a friendlier hostess.

The Waffle Spot is one of those restaurants that I think not many people know about. It definitely has a lot of variety and is a great pick if you’re a waffle and French Toast lover. I was relieved to find that there was outdoor seating available. During this covid era, some restaurants don’t have the space for it. My friend and I ordered the Sir Waffelot’s French Toast. It was topped with strawberries, an orange maple syrup as well as a cream cheese whipped cream. I added bacon, sausage, and eggs to the order too. Everything was delicious! I will definitely come back to try something different. If you want to satisfy that breakfast craving, try it out. Eat up!!!

I love the churro waffles. Not a fan of the sausage though. The staff is fast, kind, and courteous. They give it all they got despite being understaffed. This is a popular spot, so expect a 30 minutes to an hour wait time.

Expected a menu similar to IHOP, but found it to be much better. Service was great despite a worker shortage. Food was well presented, delicious, and plentiful. If you on Hotel circle. Id seriously consider eating breakfast here! Our waitress was exceptional considering the shortage of workers. Would gladly come here again!!

Good food and order was ready in less than ten. Quality service and efficient technology to sign in and pay. I would definitely come back if need be, although air quality inside could be improved.

Food was really good. The service...um, well the attitude a few of the waitresses have was unfortunate. I get people can be jerks, but there are some things you dont share with customers. We all dont really like being around people probably isnt the best attitude. I honestly think the food is over priced to be honest. If you dont mind paying 18 bucks for a french toast platter then this is for you. Try it out though and form your own opinion.

Would have loved to try the food. Did not get seated for 30 min as large groups got seated in front of mine. When I asked they completely forgot that I had checked in and told me another 10 minutes for a seat to open up. I will not come back.

The Waffle Spot draws a lot of locals as well as tourists. When you arrive check in and put your name down. Due to the small dining room and social distancing the wait might be longer. You can scan the menu outside so once inside your ready to order.The menu features eggs, waffles, and other classic breakfast favorites. You won’t get anything unique or special here. The food is fresh and well prepared.If your staying in the hotel I’d recommend calling and ordering take out. It will be less social interactions and will save you time. You could also eat in the pool area.Ample parking out front. Staff is friendly. They have a few hand sanitizer stations inside.

Food was good but not the service. We had 3 servers and I didnt like that. One asked for them drinks, a different one got out order and a total different one gave us the check. The place is nice looking.

Amazing place to go for breakfast.Huge breakfast menu here and everything cooked fresh to order.Very family friendly, in fact friendly place all round.We stayed at kings in for 5 days and had breakfast here four times, trying different things each time.Yep, the waffles are awesome but there is a nice Mexican breakfast menu too.The Mexican omelette is good and the country breakfast is also a winner.Good drinks.Can get busy here but there wait is never very long but worth it.If youre looking for a decent breakfast in San Diego then jump in a cab and go here because it will be worth it!

This restaurant was walking distance from our hotel, and was a nice place for some pretty filling breakfast food. Staff were friendly and on top of things.. My only complaint was the rice that came with my chorizo and eggs was cold.

The restaurant policy is REALLY stupid. They wont sit your parties together even if half the party is already seated and there are enough open seats at the table. The only reason they could give was they didnt have enough staff. So instead we sat in two different sections of the restaurant. If anything, itd take fewer staff to seat customers together. They couldnt ever really explain it in a way that made any sort of sense and it was super frustrating. It was clearly an idiotic policy some manager came up with and the staff are throwing whatever excuse they can to justify it.Other than that the food was ok, but overpriced.

I work at a nearby local adult store, and last weekend one of my regular customer friends brought me a waffle from this place...OMFG!! That waffle was 🔥. Hands down the best waffle Ive ever had in my entire life. I am not sure of its menu name, but it tasted like a churro. Every bite literally melted in my mouth. Due to working late shifts, I unfortunately have not yet able to dine at The Waffle Spot because I cannot seem to make it there before they close at 2pm. This place had amazing waffles! The pancakes were good too and huge. The waitstaff is a little slow to come by, but they didnt forget about you. I had the baja omelet with avocado, cheese and salsa and it came with mini waffles and potatoes- yummy. The coffee is okay, but they arent known for the brew. Remember it is called The Waffle Spot and they have a mascot which is fun for the kids.

I got the chicken and churro waffle and it met my expectations! The service was not that well from waitress, she over charged me but the girls checking you in was awesome and made up for the other ladys horrible service.. Be kind to all!

My favorite country potatoes and waffles are the ones at the Waffle Spot! Weve stayed at Kings In a few times now and had breakfast every morning (and lunch one time) at the Waffle Spot during our stay. Its not a continental breakfast included with the hotel stay, but as a result you get way better quality food.Our favorite things on the menu by far are:- the waffles (weve had regular, blueberry, and banana nut), which are more flavorful and dense than Im used to waffles being (not quite as dense as a cake donut, but these are to normal waffles as cake donuts are to normal donuts), and- the country potatoes, which are cooked and seasoned to perfection (veggies cooked crispy in places but still with some fresh veggie crunch, and just the right amount of seasoning to make every bite flavorful).Tip: Arrive early in the day to avoid a wait (or else assume youll need to wait for a table or get your food to-go to take back to your room). We were used to being seated right away at the beginning of our trip when we were still waking up early enough to arrive when it opened at 7am, and then surprised to see a wait toward the end of our trip when wed adjusted to California time and were waking up later.Id give this review five stars for the waffles and potatoes alone, but I did remove one star because quality of some dishes can be hit or miss (every now and then the potatoes/veggies are overcooked, and the omelettes come out amazing half of the time and at other times seem more like they mixed the veggies with the eggs to make a frittata to save time instead of folding in the veggies to make an omelette. I havent kept track, but Id guess the times when the quality wasnt as great might have coincided with when they were really busy, so that might be one more reason to go early in the day! Even with that caveat, Id go back in a heartbeat; I already miss the waffles and country potatoes now that our trip is over! :)

The food quality was okay except that my waffle was barely warm. The service was marginal, and I was surprised that no half-and-half was available for my coffee, so I was offered non-dairy creamer (!) or heavy cream. The seating area was not in its old location, but rather within the adjoining Mexican restaurant, which was a tad creepy. The bacon and the sausages were quite good. My overall impression of this restaurant is that it has poor management, but the workers are doing their best to keep the ship afloat.

We went for breakfast on Saturday 02/20/2021 at around 8:45 or so. We went there because my husband loves waffles. Didnt wait very long to be seated. Our food was good the waffles were definitely fire, came out perfect just the way he like it. I am giving this place five stars because of the service. I dont remember our servers name and I wish I knew it because she was awesome. Very friendly, polite, HONEST, and just great great great customer service, always checking if we need anything, filling our drinks, I had mentioned that our hot chocolate tasted like water not only did she take it off the bill but she also came back with new ones that were out of this world good if you like hot chocolate. I say honestbecause we asked about a few items on the menu and she was brutally honest and we loved that she apologized for being so straight and super honest but we thanked her for being that way. Honest is the only way to be. But, going to the Waffle Spot was the BEST WAY TO START OUR AMAZING DAY! I really want to say Thank you for the AWESOME SERVICE!!!

This place is awesome! Great food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and lots of fun for kids. Go on the weekend to be greeted by the Waffle King himself. Love how they get festive during the holidays. I hope they never stop decorating and dressing up for Halloween!

For the price, I think they should know how to cook eggs. I would hate to have seen what would come out a medium rare steak here😂.

After a 10 minute waiting line I got a chance to finally get inn and try out the food. I was seated at the counter and was quickly offers something to drink. The menu had several iluatrations of the waffle spot royal family, cute but not really helpful. I ordered an apple and cinnamon waffle with a side of bacon and unsweetened iced tea.Food was way better than what I expected it to be, one single waffle was more than enough and the extra bacon turned out to be to much ( I left a single strip our of the 5 handled to me). I can still taste the cinnamon and the sliced apple with the melted butter, delicious. I was left to wander why they only offered one syrup, a wider variety would go well with their different waffle options.The staff was great, quick, clean and ready to serve me if I needed something extra without being too pushy, an amazing and difficult quality to achieve.Overall a great expirience.

I was staying a few hotels down from here at the DoubleTree and the coffee sucks so I decided to look up places that I could walk to to get a cup of coffee the nearest Starbucks is about a mile and a half away over the mountain, and it came to the waffle place. The coffee was superb and the fruit bowls that I picked up for my kids gone the second I put them down. I recommend this place for your breakfast and lunch needs. They close at 2pm.

This place is a hidden gem. Delicious breakfast options that are not just waffles. Best Bacon EVER! Cute retro diner in a vintage motel. It gets busy but you wait in the hotel lobby instead of outside on a sidewalk in the hot sun like most breakfast places in San Diego.

My people walked in and the first thing that was said to us is, Imma just gone and let y’all know for parties of 6 or more is 18% gratuity and you can only split it two ways. We explained that we are multiple parties. The girl said well ok but we can’t sit y’all at tables next to each other. I asked why, being that the establishment was 90% empty. The girl didn’t answer. Then she said it’s gone be a 20 minute wait before we can seat y’all. We said ok, although we didn’t understand why. They weren’t busy.We asked how long does the it usually take to be served because we had a flight to catch. The girl said depends and as she said it, she had a really bad attitude and was snappy. We asked for an estimate and explained we were on a time frame that’s why we asked. She said what do you mean? It depends on whenever the server gets to you. She still had a nasty attitude. I looked at my husband and said let’s go and we all left. I refuse to give 2 dollars for poor customer service but I’m certainly not paying 200-300 for trash service and an ignorant, arrogant, rude greeter. Instead, we went to Wendy’s because she wasted our time, but Wendy’s was better than her attitude. She lacked customer service skills, professionalism, and common courtesy. I strongly do not recommend this establishment. I’m not from California and brought my family to visit, she was by far a different kind of something else.During our entire 2 week stay, she was the only rude representative we encountered. Ever other establishment met expectations when we visited.

I went on 4th of July weekend, bad idea. Waited 1hr to be seated. We waited because we drove to 5 different restaurants and they all had a long wait. After an hour of waiting we got seated and waited another 15 minutes for someone to take our order, the food was okay I had the eggs benedict breakfast with a side of country potatoes, the hollandaise sauce was so bland and my potatoes were burned.

The waffle spot is delicious! I had churro waffles 🤯whaaaat🤪amazing!! No syrup needed. Our waitress was soooo nice, she made us feel like weve known each other forever. It was very clean and bright, even the hostess was very nice. We will be back.

We came early and it was very busy, the kitchen was a tad behind but she kept checking on us, keeping in contact and asking if were okay. She was a wonderful person aswell as everyone else who we spoke to. This is only our second time here but we love it and will definitely be back because of her!
