I super rarely leave reviews on anything. This is probably my 2nd review in my entire life. Today my experience was worth reviewing. I had a eye exam with Dr. Andrea Russo. She was amazing, down to earth and really cool. I could tell she knew what she was doing and she really helped me figure out what contacts were best for me and my lifestyle. I’ve had contacts for years but the ones she recommended today feel so much better and I can even see better. I highly recommend going to see her if you’ve ever felt like something wasn’t quite right with your contacts because she will figure it out. Also to the guy who helped me find a pair of glasses today thank you. He was mad cool too and I wish I remembered his name. Overall great experience here.

So friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable. My eyes are difficult to perform some tests on and they were patient and experienced. Also, they managed to find me contacts I can actually wear. Honestly, a life changing experience for me.

Dr. Shapiro was excellent. And his entire staff from entry, to testing, was amazingly nice.I cannot recommend their office enough. My wife just returned from her visit and had the same wonderful experience. Thank you so much for everything and see you for our next checkup.

Dr. Cape was very detailed and thorough. The doctor rechecked my eye pressure in one of my eyes because the numbers initially didnt make sense. She took the time to explain why an astigmatism designed contact lense always felt uncomfortable to me and some possible products that might provide me a more crisp vision.

Dr Shapiro is amazing! Eye exam was great! He took time to make sure and adjust my prescription so I felt more comfortable seeing in my lenses. He also let me try on many colored contacts so I could take time to chose the best color for me. Great experience!

I needed a new prescription to order sunglasses. I walked in and was seen promptly. Both the person doing metrics and the doctor were really good at their work and made me feel comfortable and confident in their observations and recommendations. I made a mistake in scheduling my visit so was assigned to a doctor I hadnt seen before. Once again, the entire staff and doctor were fantastic, accommodating, and nice. I have had so many bad experiences with eye doctors in the past (decades worth!) and every single one of my experiences here has been fantastic! I am always so pleased after my annual visit here. It doesnt hurt too that I get to stop by another store or two after my visit. Thank you, Dr. Shapiro!

Very efficient, and on time! Dr Shapiro does not waste your time. I did not put 5 stars because I was not able to get new lenses due to a remodel of their lab! All the staff / employees were very professional and nice!

I was able to make an appointment for the next day and am very happy with my visit. All the staff and doctors were super friendly and welcoming, and they made me feel comfortable as someone who’s had only a few eye exams in my life. The exam was very thorough and Dr. Russo made sure to explain all the test results to me and walk me through my individual risk factors related to eye health.

Katie was very helpful and made the initial eye exam quick and easy. She made sure I understood the break down of pricing and got me squared away with marking sure my frames fit perfectly. Dr Cape made the exam quick and painless and was very informative with my eye health. A++ for customer service

Couldn’t get correct prescription for contact lenses and I was left me in the contact lenses room for over 1/2 hr alone with no one assisting me. When I requested assistance from the front desk, they proceeded to check me out and asked if I wanted to purchase contact lenses. how was I going to purchase something that didn’t fit and made my vision blurry. Very very bad service.

Location is clean. Staff at this location is friendly, but visibly overwhelmed with actually accommodating the customers coming to their facility.When arriving to my pre-scheduled appointment, I had to wait 35 minutes before being seen. Then when my name was finally called, had to wait another 10 minutes to review my current prescribed glasses that should probably be in my historical files- considering Lens Crafters prescribed them.While in the waiting room, I overheard several people inquiring about how long walk ins would take- and the answer provided was 15 minutes. Over promising and under delivering... to say the least.Following the preliminary testing, I then once again returned to the waiting room for another 20 minutes for the doctor.Being a previous Lens Crafters customer, my past experiences with the actual routine checkup were fairly quick- provided you have an appointment. 40 minutes in and out, if that. Therefore, I dont plan to have an hour and a half to spend getting a routine eye exam. Unfortunately I went into the check up highly recommending Lens Crafters as the location for my boyfriend to go to, and left letting him know that I would not recommend this particular location.

I give 3 stars because instead of seeing Dr. Shapiro of whom I was scheduled to see, I saw Dr. Russo. She didnt even introduce herself, nor did any of the staff inform me I would see her-I didnt know who she was until after my visit when I looked her up on Dr. Shapiros portal. If that wasnt bad enough, she basically backed me into a corner to essentially pay $40 more for my exam by doing a retinal scanning that I didnt even want. My other choice was to have dilated pupils for the next 3 hours and then have to pay extra to stay at UTC due to not being able to drive home with blurred vision. There is no parking validation in place for patients who would require the pupil dilation as part of their exam. But the thing that upset me the most about the visit was that the staff informed me that I would only be paying a $10 copay for the eye exam and that the retinal scan was optional, I told her that I didnt want the retinal scan. She failed also to mention the contact lens fitting fees separate from the exam even though the fitting is part of the vision testing part of the eye exam. I normally pay $75 total for an eye exam including contact lens fitting elsewhere, but for the entire broken up exam processes that Lens Crafters have going on, I paid a whopping $140! Much more than I wanted to spend on an eye exam and they knew it. They failed to break down all the costs before the exam took place, yet they made me sit and wait a full 45 minutes before seeing Dr. Russo. This first visit with this Lens Crafters is also my last and I will order my contacts myself online through my insurance. This Lens Crafters is not the place to go for cost-saving. The 3 stars I give is for Dr. Russos and the techs thorough job with my eye exams. Unless one likes getting hit with surprise fees by strange opticians they arent even scheduled to see, avoid this Lens Crafters like the plague.

Dr. Shapiro made me feel very welcome for my first civilian optometry appointment in over 23 years! The staff overall is excellent. My family has been coming here for years, and we appreciate the love and attention you give to us when we come in.

Dr. Shapiro is one the best.He is skilled, experienced and totally courteous gentleman.My last good refraction and prescription was on mid 2017, but as I moved to different location, I used the services of 3 optometrists and one ophthalmologist, which all struggled with many times of lense changes and provided a prescription but the glasses were not usable and all said that my cataract, that by the way is non-blocking, is the reason for not getting good results with some ridiculous comments to justify their bad work. So I used my old glasses and thinking about cataract surgery.But now I feel lucky to visit Dr. Shapiro. In a short time, he figured out the exact measurement/prescription and now I have a perfect eyeglasses and no more thinking about eye surgery.I absolutely do appreciate Dr. Shapiro for his expertise and excellant work.

Having an eye exam isn’t on top of everyone’s most favorite thing to do. However, my experience here with Andrea Russo went well above any and all doctors appointments I’ve may have ever had!! The staff was positive, funny and personable ... and patient with my need to try on a ton of different glasses. Dr. Russo, well let’s just say that she will be my forever eye doctor! She was beyond caring, kind , gentle and professional. She introduced me to contacts and although I was squeamish, she remained positive and provided gentle guidance. It was obvious she’s passionate about her job and helping others. I’m not one to write reviews but I left my appointment today hoping I would get a survey so I could share my positive experience with others!!

The appointment was on time. The entire staff was friendly and professional. The exam not only covered my vision but the overall health of my eye was examined as well.

I needed two visits in order to do my vision exam. My first visit I arrived on time but had to wait outside in the sun for ten minutes. Employees were competent and friendly and after giving my info I was checked by various optical machinery. After 1 hour 15 min. I still hadn’t seen the optician and needed to reschedule because there was no one available and I was expected to wait, but had run out of time. My appointment a few days later with the optician involved only a five minute wait in the sun and I was happy with the vision check. I could feel the pressure for me to spend more than what my insurance would be paying: A photo of my eyes for $39 was an extra charge which I refused to pay, since I wasn’t told that this would be an extra charge not covered by insurance. Eye mask and overpriced frames were recommended. Please put an umbrella outside since, in addition to the people working there, only four customers are allowed inside. Perhaps a bench as well.

While Dr. Shapiro himself is very nice, a member of the sales team sold me what he said were the most affordable glass options for the frame I chose. Of course this turned out to be not true. He never asked me what I wanted or even explained in detail the things he added to the list, he just presented a very high amount and said that that was due. I was naive enough to pay, and later realized he even charged me a one year insurance, which of course I never asked for. Do not trust Daniel, he’s a charmer, but he doesn’t have the client’s best interests at heart. I wouldn’t recommend this place or go back in the future.

Extremely fast service and Dr. Shapiro kindly took time to explain my results to me. The staff were also helpful, friendly, and fast. Will definitely return here next year!

I made a last minute appointment due to some eye irritation. I met with Dr. Andrea Russo who is by far the nicest optometrist Ive ever met. She is professional, thorough and reassuring. She is also very caring and personable. I would highly, highly recommend Dr. Russo.

Dr. Cape performed a very thorough exam and communicated with me about the overall health of my eyes. I appreciate that. She also amended my contact prescription where I can see much better without use of reading glasses. I happily recommend her.

Wonderful staff - I forgot a face mask but they happily provided me with one so that I could enter the store. The technician was very nice and efficient when taking me through the initial testing, and then Dr. Shapiro finalized my prescription shortly thereafter - providing me with the confidence that he had dialed-in exactly what my eyes needed. I’ll be a customer of theirs for many years to come :)

This staff was phenomenal! The associate who was helping my partner and I with our frames was just going above and way beyond his job! He helped out in every way possible, answered every single one of my questions! If anyone deserve a raise or promotion it’s him!

Fast and easy but out of network for glasses

I came in on a busy Saturday with an appointment to get my eyes checked. I was assisted by Dakota, who was friendly and informative when explaining how the pre-testing machines worked, and helped me understand how they worked. She also helped me pick my lenses and shaped them for me to make them comfortable. Danny and Crystal also provided great input on my frames when I couldnt decide. This was my first visit to LensCrafters, and I loved that I could go to my appointment, pick out some frames, go get some lunch and my glasses are ready to be picked up! Ill probably be returning to look into contacts, but I enjoyed the selection of frames they offered as well. Overall, I had a really enjoyable experience!

My first time at a LensCrafters and they were helpful, informative and wanted to make sure I received the best of care. There were a couple of people that helped me. I didnt catch one of the girls names but she initially gave me the tests and she helped me understand what each device does. DrShapiro gave me a better understanding on what would fit my needs to adjust my vision. When it came time to figuring out what glasses I wanted, Christina (or Kristina... sorry) was the best! She helped me find all the purple frames that I liked and got it down to one. Everyone at this location gave me a great experience! Cant wait for my next visit!

Sales people always seem be be deceptive- hiding upgrade costs without mention, improper communication of insurance benefits Id already used, rude demeanor. Probably wont order prescriptions from Lenscrafters anymore (at least the UTC La Jolla location)

I have been going to Lenscrafters where I received my prescription. I have never had an issue and never make a review unless it was an amazing experience. This is the first review I am writing where I am genuinely upset and disgusted with how Dr. Shapiro spoke to me. I am surprised he has a job with the way he talks to people. Just GROSS.I called because I was having issues with my left contacts which I was advised could have been a bad batch...he decided to interrupt me and say never would that happen.... of course, me sitting there first in shock that he would cut me off and second because telling me Im wrong when I have gone through 8 contacts in 3 months because of how they are bothering me with the same prescription and when I pay SO MUCH MONEY FOR THEM. I am leaving for vacation sunday and have a full time job so they times they have to see me wont work which I advised he said well all I can do is have you come in because there is nothing wrong with the contacts. So now I get to go on vacation with blurry eyes and no help!Thanks Shapiro youre a great guy. I feel bad for Lenscrafters for having you be there.

They lied to us saying that no insurance cover the office visit, which is not true. Be careful.

Danny made the entire experience a truly pleasurable one, from the pre-screening tests, to the introduction to Dr. Liu (sp?), to his guidance in choosing the best frame for the type of lens that I was ordering. I found him to be extremely attentive and flexible - I had to leave to go to another appointment and returned 90 minutes later, and he took excellent care of me. Dr. Liu was also very helpful and took time to explain the retinal images that I agreed to have taken, noted things to keep an eye on, and gave me a referral for consultation on an adjustment to the Lasik procedure that occurred a dozen years ago. My only recommendations are that the patient should be told in advance which optometrist they are scheduled to see (vs. simply Dr. Shapiro), and to correct the opening time given on the recorded voice message for this location (from 10 am to 9 am).

Justine was very helpful and made sure that I was using my insurance benefits to their full capacity. Shes even kind of funny too!
