I got a cappuccino, which was a bit too mild for my taste - basically just tasted like milk. Next time I come, I’ll try the pour over, that seems to be more of their specialty.

Great place to hang out! It gives me a different kind of comfort every time I visited this coffee shop. I am such a huge fan of their iced mocha. This place is really worth visiting alone or with your friends and family. No one can beat their excellent customer service, good coffee, and affordable prices. Highly recommended!

Please do yourself a favor and get the Coffee Subscription!!! I have one and it’s been amazing during COVID to have two beautiful bags every two weeks arrive . The coffee is fresh, seasonal, and each roast is different and unique. I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how much I like it and how convenient it is to have it shipped to me. It’s also nice getting a variety of flavors, since I’m usually boring and get the same roast when I shop.

Nice coffee shop in downtown. Great alternative to the endless number of Starbucks in the area. The staff is friendly and this one of the few places I found in the area that does a pour over. Price is very reasonable for a pour over. The coffee here is pretty good but isn’t great. I did also try the cappuccino, which I found was above average.

I’m not a coffee drinker but started with Coavas honey latte.... it was delicious! It wasn’t too bitter and had the right amount of sweetness, and not overly sweet. Every time I’m around that’s what I’m going to get. I also go their pastry- the jalapeño, ham and cheese, it was alright. Not flakey and it didn’t taste fresh. Probably won’t get any of their baked goods. Come here for their coffee or lattes!

This is so far the best espresso shot I had in San Diego: the barista is right down pro! Easy going, no fuss, very professional and excellent people skills. The place itself is outstanding, spacious, chick and with a touch of coziness to help you enjoy your experience even more. Of course I had to try their chemex brew also, and... spot on! This will be my to go place in SD. Come and try it out! Just a few blocks from Horton Plaza, train station and little Italy. Off the beaten path if tourist, stylish and the most important thing... GREAT Coffee and service

Very nice space in downtown near trolley station. Modern yet cozy. They make their own chocolate syrup and oat milk, which is a rare occurrence among coffee shops these days. Baristas are professional. The coffee, however, was lacking depth for me. I think this is something to do with the beans and not with the machine or the staff. After drinking my mocha I bought a pack of Costa Rican (honey processed) . Mind you these beans are $25-$30 per pound. At home, my drinks were also lacking depth with these beans even with perfect extraction. Good place to hangout, but there are better places to buy beans in my opinion if you are making lattes or mochas.

NICE COFFEE BREAK ! My wife and I were downtown on Monday morning so I could get photos taken for my Aussie passport renewal. We had to wait 25 minutes before we could have the photos ( non-digital ) so we walked a block or so to this coffee shop to kill time. Its a huge nice designed coffee shop as we noted during our last & only visit over 2 years ago. My wife ordered 2 x Cortados in shot glasses at my insistence ( I will not drink out of paper cups now that the covid stuff is over ) while I visited the unisex bathroom ( clean ). A friendly cashier named Lucy took care of our order..first checking with Angel the barista about my shot glass request. No problem ! We actually had a choice of 3 different single origin coffees...Kilenso from Ethiopia, Cindaku from Indonesia & Robinson Figueroa from Colombia. My wife liked the sound of the last one...rich & chocolatey. I asked Lucy about 2 of the baristas I knew who worked here when the place first opened...all gone Lucy replied. While Angel the barista crafted our Cortados I had a look around. Not a lot was happening at this time of the day...just after 11am. Good thing we were here just for coffees as their food selection was pathetic...no better than when they first opened. Angel did a good job on our Cortados made in shot glasses ...as they should be. We sat at a bench top table looking out onto the street. Our Cortados tasted quite good !

Aww, Coava. What a blessing it is to have you in San Diego, finally! We were fortunate enough to meet and greet with the fellow Coava team members in Portland and havent stopped craving the experience since. Service is personable (as you can probably tell), and you should expect top notch quality beans from them as well. Its our understanding that the founder, Matt, enjoys the meticulous pursuit of ideals coffee geeks dream of and it shows in the development of roast to the experienced baristas behind bar. Those that enjoy the finest specialty coffee has to offer will do well to visit Coava, enjoy all their coffee lineup, and pick up a bag of beans (theyre fantastic and it supports the farmers that work so hard for it) - theres a surprise in every bag!If you enjoy doing work in cafes because of the ambiance, do that too! It is beautiful here, so share the experience.Instagram @coffeepourfavorFound this helpful🤔? Like it 👍 below!❓ Let us know!Coffee: Specialty grade with a huge emphasis on building relationships with farmers. The end result is definitely appreciated by us, the consumer, as the beans are so well-developed.Equipment: All beans roasted at their roastery in Portland on massive Probats. They utilize several brew methods some of which include the Coava Cone filters paired with a Chemex for pour over (most are probably familiar with the Able Kone (founder of which was a previous employee of Coava)), and espresso courtesy of the popular 3-group, La Marzocco Linea.Location:In the heart of downtown San Diego off of Broadway. Those that are driving may find parking nearby at Slate and F Street as well as a parking garage just down the street across from India and Broadway.Final Note:We have been fortunate to visit Coava in SD several times, and have met some fantastic people there behind bar. The coffees are always prepared to represent them faithfully, but most importantly: the service is beyond amazing; it has consistently been courteous, thoughtful, and respectful of time.☕😆👍

A ground level coffee-shop in the Westin hotel downtown. Its mostly coffee-centric (minimal food offerings), with a lot of sitting/working space and friendly staff. On a first visit, I enjoyed the distinct flavor notes discernible in my nitro cold-brew coffee.Coava has an entrance from the lobby of the hotel as well as outside doors. Airy and industrial-looking. The space is long, providing room to not be crowded by your neighbors. Indoor seating (including a large multi-person table) and a good sized patio.
