Sandra is a superhero!!! Found Sandra by word of mouth in 2018. Was in a friends wedding November 2018 and had to make a last minute seamstress change for her alterations five weeks before the wedding.Weddings are already stressful as hell and to find out the seamstress you were going to use is closing her business and cant finish your dress, well, thats just unforgivable. While at the original seamstress who was able to do small alterations to my bridesmaids dress and after keeping the bride calm, I did a quick search and found Alterations by Sandra. We raced downtown and walked in her shop...it felt more like we crawled in on begging knees. She saw the look on the brides face and felt the pleading from myself and my mom and took pity on us.Sandra stopped what she was doing and had the bride to get into her dress. She took all of the measurements, asked all the pertinent questions, and made extremely helpful suggestions for the alterations. She was hilarious and blunt and we loved her. She agreed to squeeze in my friends wedding dress and scheduled in a second and an additional final fitting and have her dress to her with 48 hours to spare. We all returned for her final fitting with champagne and a huge bottle of thank you for Sandra. My friends dress fit her like a dream for her amazing day!Recently, I took a dress in to have a couple of small fixes done and Sandra and her team fixed them in less than 15 minutes.It is ridiculously hard to find a great seamstress but to find a down to earth cool as heck one who can create magic in garments...priceless!

Sandra and her team were INCREDIBLE! They turned a VERY poorly constructed bridesmaids dress into a work of art and helped boost my confidence in wearing this dress in the process. They worked with me to tailor this dress to fit my body shape and size in the most flattering light! They were incredibly professional and their skills in alterations are above reproach. Sandra is absolutely wonderful! I am so happy I came across her store! I went in originally to have some dresses taken in for me and she ended up also making my wedding dress for me. She was so helpful during the whole process of finalizing the design, choosing the material and taking extra care of me during each of the fittings. Sandra has years of experience and really knows what she is doing and takes care of your needs. I ended up moving my date almost a month earlier due to personal circumstances and she finished everything in two days to meet my new deadline. Sandra is amazing! Shes a lovely lady who shows a lot of care and expertise in her work. A little pricey, but I felt like my dress was in good hands when I left it with her. She made it look like it was designed especially for me!

Sandra was a true godsend. I bought my dream dress (Made With Loves Billie in lace) at Lovely Bride in San Diego and found out about Sandra from them. I was quoted by another alterations place almost $2000 for the changes my dress needed, and was very anxious that alterations would break my tight budget. Then I walked into Sandras shop and not only was she so reasonably priced (much, much less than my other quote), she was calming, and a total pro. I felt immediately at home with her and completely trusted her recommendations. You know its a trustworthy place when you walk in and there are hand-written Thank You notes hanging on the wall from previous brides. Sandra let out my dress, adjusted the bust and cups, and added a bustle. The finished product was so stunning, I truly love my wedding dress. It fit like a glove and was so comfortable. When youre planning your wedding, there are many people who will mark-up their services because its for a wedding. Sandra is not that kind of person and is simply an honest, hard-working and skilled seamstress who will make you feel and look your best. She and Wes are an amazing team and you will be so thankful you chose their shop. Go see them!!!

Where do I begin? Sandra is a true miracle worker. I did a consult and she went through everything with me and gave me a quote with no pressure. The whole process was easy and straight forward and THEN she did the impossible. My dress is perfect. Id give her 10 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend Sandras services for her high quality of work, keen eye for detail, and very quick turnaround. She altered my pre-loved wedding dress this spring (took in the bodice a few inches, added straps, re-did the bustle, and replaced ugly metal bustle hooks with pretty satin buttons -- I am so thankful she suggested that last one!). She even asked Wes to take a video of her explaining how to bustle my dress since it would be far in the future and, due to COVID, visitors could not come for the appointment.However, I am giving 4 stars (more like 3.5 but rounding up because she was otherwise great) because communications could use improvement.I understand this year had extenuating circumstances (to say the least!) for businesses such as these and it was my decision to have Sandra complete the alterations despite not knowing when wed be able to postpone the wedding. I felt very comfortable with this because I have been the same size for more than a decade (in fact, I have a zip-up dress from nearly 13 years ago that still fits and is skin-tight in the torso -- the exact same area as my wedding dress). My issues were these:1) The dress was clearly too tight in the interim fitting. I mentioned that I felt like I wouldnt be able to eat or drink at the wedding and Sandra expressed disappointment with how it made my back skin bulge, but said it started to relax a little as the appointment went on and so it could maybe be ok. She didnt offer to loosen it. She asked if I wanted to proceed with the alterations and I said yes because I didnt feel like there was another option besides pausing with an unfinished dress and I was confident I wouldnt change size. After still feeling the tightness hours after removing the dress, I decided I would ask for it to be let out during my final appointment. Sure, a silly thought looking back on it...I probably should have called that day...but Ive never had something altered and was unaware of the process. I really wish that, when we both acknowledged it was too tight, that she had explained that she could let it out a little and that proceeding meant it would be too late!!2) Of course, the dress was still too tight at the final fitting. Sandras response? Oh honey, youve gained! I generally appreciated her bluntness throughout the process, but Im 55 and only 115 pounds, I have been that size since high school, and we both knew it was tight in the interim fitting. This made me feel a ridiculous need to try shapewear to try to somehow make my torso smaller because it felt like 100% my fault for not speaking up. But, ultimately, my rib cage is not going to get any smaller so this wont work!! When I asked if she could let it out, I was told that was basically restarting the process and would need to pay another couple hundred dollars. While comparable to other providers, I was already stretched thin with the initial alterations cost and Ill probably just wear it and deal with the discomfort/have it be slightly unflattering or try to find a really cheap casual dress for the reception. I dont know.Again, I wish Sandra had made it completely clear that there was an option to loosen during the interim fitting (and not blame the tightness on me!), rather than simply say it was up to me if I wanted to proceed or stop. But, otherwise, she did do a great job with all the seams & timing. I feel confident that everything will hold just fine.

I cant imagine having anyone else work on my wedding gown. Sandra is a perfectionist and incredibly efficient. She was so kind and supportive throughout the whole process. She made each fitting so much fun. She has a true talent and Ive already referred her to a number of friends and family.

Sandra did an amazing job altering and bustling my very detailed and complicated lace wedding dress. She fixed things I didnt even know needed fixing and, wow, I felt amazing in it. I also loved working with Sandra. She was so enthusiastic and sweet and she really knew her craft. I would absolutely recommend her to everyone.

Sandra was amazing! She went above and beyond what I wanted, she made sure every inch of my dress was perfect. It was truly one of my most favorite things about wedding planing. Every time I went it was so fun and I really felt important.

Sandra did a beautiful job altering some of my tango dresses, which were a complete disaster before she worked her magic. Now I get compliments every time I wear them. She is definitely good at what she does, her suggestions make sense and she will tell you straight if what you want will work and how much it will cost. I’ve asked her to work on several dresses so far and they’ve all come out gorgeous!

Very friendly and professionalCall ahead and make an appointment as they are busy - but they always have things done a in fairly quick turnaround.

I went to Sandra after being turned down by other tailors or told by others that what I wanted wasnt possible. Sandra never told me that. She told me that it would take a lot of work but she was as excited as I was to re-imagine my wedding dress into what I envisioned. The end result was STUNNING! It exceeded my expectations! She had such a positive attitude, professional demeanor and clear communication throughout the whole process. I wont go to any other tailor in San Diego. I went in to go ask how long a skirt would take to be tailored and the lady told me she was so busy with backed up wedding dresses that she is not even taking any new work and she said she could not suggest anyone else because she said its the same with every alteration place.And said her turn around time is a month or longer!I then called Walla alterations and she said it would be 2 days so thats where I went!

Could not recommend Sandra more! She altered my Monique Lhullier wedding dress to perfection. I am a particular bride (to say the least) and had many small changes I wanted to my dress for my big day. Sandra helped to customize the whole thing, not blinking an eye at the multiple appointments needed. She was calm and meticulous, all while giving me a fair price. Absolutely recommend!

I took two of my jeans here. After I picked them up, I found that the crotch was sewed to the front pocket in one of the jeans. The good news is that when I separated the thread from the pocket, it created a massive hole in the crotch. I dont have to use the fly of my pants anymore while Im at the urinal.For the cost of the alterations, I would think there would be much better quality assurance and control.

I brought my dress to Sandra after getting grossly over charged for a rushed and poorly performed fitting at the boutique I bought the dress at. She actually listened to what I had to say and fixed every one of the issues that the boutique either ignored or made worse. My dress is now perfect and Sandra was much more reasonably priced. Sandra does great work,and got me in for my wedding dress alterations in a pinch! She is very easy to communicate with by text. I would highly recommend her, but she does book up in advance, so dont wait!

There were signs saying no men’s wear. Appointment only. I needed a quick hem, one day that would have taken them 5 minutes but was turned away by the signs. Very disappointed after walking a few blocks to get something fixed.
