I first came to Japanese Auto Plus in 2019 after my 07 Xterra had to be towed from the side of the 15. I planned to go to a AAA shop, but my tow truck driver recommended these guys and I thought Id give them a try. Best mechanic Ive ever worked with- these guys are honest, fair, and work incredibly hard to get your car working right for a reasonable price.Over the past two years they have done various repairs and tune ups, and in February 2021 my engine finally failed and I was worried my car was headed for the pick-u-part lot. That weekend Andre and the team found a new engine on Friday, drove up to LA and picked it up on Saturday, and installed it on Sunday. By Monday my car was functional again. That is some amazing service!Even if I moved away from San Diego, I would still come back here to get my car worked on. I cannot give these guys enough credit, bring your car here and see for yourself!

These guys are incredible! I have an older Toyota Van that is very difficult to find parts for, not only were they able to find parts but they also used a great deal of ingenuity to fix things that they could not find the replacement parts for. Best of all they came in under their original quote. They will keep you informed the whole time. These are guys you can trust with your vehicle and your wallet. Scam Shop. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. I believe the ownership or management was changed in 2020 and it has gone downhill ever since. If your reading this youve been warned. Reply: You didnt fix the car. You charged half price and it came out the same condition it went in.

I took my Lexus ISF in to have some brake work done. Fearing I was going to have to replace my calipers, they were able to repair mine and save me a ton of money. Honest, quick, and thorough. I will be using them again.

Had the guys do a tune-up on my Mazda and a couple other small things. Price was fair and the work was excellent! Small communication error between me and the staff, brought my car back in, and they said it should have been included in the estimate and didnt charge me further. Really happy I gave them a chance to fix it, now my car runs better than it has in years!

Great group of mechanics.Came in for a suspension adjustment and alignment for my 2021 Supra. The service was fantastic and professional. The Supra drives much better than it did when I got there.They are also willing to help you understand what the various settings on your alignment mean as well for those who are new to the subject.The price to service ratio is unmatched anywhere.

I came into Japanese auto plus on memorial day because I really needed an oil change and my transmission fluid changed. They said that they would get to my car as soon as possible as they had 2 other cars to get taken care of first. As the man at the front counter was asking me some questions about the car he realized that they didnt have the oil filter in stock. So they sent one of their workers out to do a part run just so they could get my oil changed that day! Not only that but while my car was on the stand they noticed my exhaust bracket had gotten knocked loose so they got that mounted in for me as well free of charge. Long story short these people are extremely trust worth and do very honest work. These are the mechanics that are looking out for you and your car!

I took my 2008 Mazdaspeed3 to this shop after it wouldnt start one day. They were able to find the issue that another shop was not able to find and were able to get my car running back to normal. They are a very professional team that knows what they are doing and go above an beyond to fix your vehicle. I appreciate all their continuous communication with me throughout the repair and even after. All of their parts come with a 1 year warranty which is a great piece of mind. Even though this shop is about 35 minutes away from where I live, this will become my go to shop and will definitely recommend them if you have a Japanese car.

Went in to have some exhaust parts welded. they got me in within the hour and quoted me $200 for the work i was looking for. Upon initial inspection, we quickly noticed the material was not what i originally believed, unfortunately this didnt allow us to complete the work. But they were so awesome, they still assisted with getting a temporary gasket installed and and verified the leak was gone and they didnt charge me a dime. They didnt even let me tip them. Will DEFINITELY be coming back when i need some more work done. All the guys there are super friendly and professional. Id give 6 stars if i could.

Setting up an appointment was extremely quick and efficient. Once I got to my appointment time they were able to take in my car right away!A few months ago, I went to a big quick-lube chain to get my oil changed, and they said my transmission oil was leaking. So, I went to Japanese Auto Plus to get it checked and it turns out there was never a problem! Since there wasnt a problem and nothing had to be fixed for the transmission, the staff had extra time and did a full service auto check for me. They even cleared/fixed my check system light for me. They never tried to upsell me anything and kept me inform throughout the whole process.The customer service was amazing and Im definitely going back here for all my future car maintenance!

I just got my Mazda 3 serviced; changed oil/filter, timing cover gasket set, oil separator, crankshaft seal, engine mounts, serpentine belt; All in just 1 day! I even had a rear breaks issue and they fixed it for me without the need to buy new parts and without additional charges. I recently took my Nissan XTerra to Japanese Auto Plus to diagnose a drivetrain issue (shuddering from the rear at stops, and vibration at high speed). Andre and the team really went above and beyond to service my vehicle in a cost effective manner. Rather than simply swap out the entire rear-end, or even independent rear axle assemblies as the Nissan dealership wanted to do, they were able to address the worn axle seal and bearings themselves (despite having to deal with some rusted parts), resulting in a much more reasonable repair bill.Rather than push the fix that was easiest for themselves, they worked to find a fix that was best for me and my vehicle and were communicative throughout the process.

My alternator was bad on my ToyotaTacoma. They found the cheapest and put it in within an hour. Will recommend them.

I had oil leak from my engine Garage recommend to change the seal on the oil pan and valve cover. After the service one bolt was missing from the exhausts mounting bracket, The oxygen sensor stop working, and oil continue to leak from the valve cover. I had to take the car to a second garage to fix the problem. Not professional service.

I set up an appointment for an oil pan replacement and they were able to help me out very quickly. Yesterday I did an alignment on my car and they did very well. In addition I asked to take a look at the noise that the car was making and they already made the budget to change. They were very helpful and attentive to my problems.

Ron is the man. It always makes me nervous taking my truck to get fixed on as I know a lot of companies will take advantage of you and empty your wallet. This is not the case with Japanese auto plus. Ron is a man of his word and very personal and everything he does is with integrity. I checked around on prices At other places and Ron always is the best and has Always taking care of me. I will not go anywhere else to get work done on my vehicles

This is a very honest body shop. They fixed my brakes (rotors, pads and caliper). After a week, the brakes started to make a strange noise. I was in another city and I had to take it to fix it again. The other mechanic charged me $ 190. I called André who promptly reimbursed me for the additional cost, no questions asked. He takes his work and reputation very seriously. I give a strong recommendation!

I just bought a used Subaru and these guys are known to be Subaru professionals.The manager is really friendly and personable. They are competitive with their pricing and their quality of work is a lot better than a dealership. I took my car here twice and the prices are just right. They have a really good turn around time and will let me know if there is something off about my engine.I trust these guys more than I trust the dealerships. I will definitely be back.

January 29, 2017 I went into Japanese Auto Plus to change out my brakes and my rotors for the front wheel. Jimmy took a look at my brakes and rotors explained to me the rotors did not need to be switched out because they were in great shape however the brakes will need to be replaced. 1 year and 5 months later on June 19th 2018 I decided to get a brake inspection at Firestone. I was advised the rotors were bad and due to the rotors not being switched out at the time of brakes being replaced the brake pad were bad. They ruled it as a bad brake job. I was in disbelief because it had only been 1 year and 5 months so I went to get a second opinion and was told brake pads were bad and rotors also needed to be changed and he advised me that rotors should always be changed when brakes are getting replaced. So I called Japanese Auto Plus and explained to Jimmy my situation and he stated I was over the 12 months warranty and provided me with the fee to replace the brakes and rotors. I then decided to go to where I received the second opinion to get my rotors and brakes replaced. The mechanic who worked on my vehicle was shocked he showed me and pointed out that the brakes on my car were not the correct brakes for my particular vehicle and they were not even placed on correctly but of course they would not be since it was not for my car. As he finished up he provided me with photos and he also provided me with the part. Since then I have been calling. The 1st time I called Jimmy stated I had to talk to the owner. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th time no response, answering machine. 6th time I get a response and was told owner was not in yet. 7th, 8th, 9th no response voicemail. 10th time owner was not in yet but had all my information. This past Friday I have not heard back so I called and it rang once and hung up. I tried twice after. So I then called from a different number someone else picks up and says the owner is not in. Today I called and no response and the voicemail, message had changed which I though was weird saying, You have reached Jimmy.This is suppose to be a business. They are by far the most unprofessional business I have dealt with and do not or choose not to handle issues like this.All they have been doing is giving me the run around, avoiding me and taking advantage of me because I am a women. I didnt want much but to talk to them about this issue. After the 2 brake inspections from 2 different places, I was such in shock that I was driving my car for a whole year and a half with this brake issue. ANYTHING could of happened to me and they do not care. To them it doesnt matter. It so scary I was put in a situation like this by an establishment who refused to talk to me. I found this shop while searching for someone to inspect a car that I was interested in purchasing. Their team did a very thorough job on the inspection and uncovered some decision altering information about the car.The price for the inspection was very reasonable (well under $100), especially given the time spent in the inspection. They gave me a quote for the repairs if I decided to purchase, which also send reasonable.I recommend this shop and will continue to use them for my automotive needs.

I couldn’t be more thrilled to have met MY go-to mechanics! After living in the San Diego area for three years as a single woman I’ve finally found a mechanic shop I could trust. As a former girlfriend of a mechanic who taught me how to work on vehicles a little, every shop I had received inspections from were trying to dupe me. I reviewed side by side recommended repairs, and not only was Japanese Auto Plus the best pricing, they also provided the best parts like NGK spark plugs. I knew before hand my old 2003 Tacoma of 230k miles needed a lot of work. Ali, and Ron recommended the the most important repairs first, and suggested if I was on a budget which items I could save until later and not put my truck in harms way. The only sad part about this whole ordeal, is that I realized how bad my Mechanic “Dirk” in San Francisco might have screwed me over. The moment I started my truck, I could tell a huge smooth difference. Kelly purrrred like she never has before. Driving home was like driving a brand new truck! The guys even replaced my tail light as a complimentary service. Don’t get “Dirked over” go see my guys Ali and Ron. Super clean shop, super trustworthy guys, and top of the line work!

Ron is a stand up guy. If you really want to find an honest mechanic, look no further. I have several vehicles that Ron has fixed and if anything didn’t seem right after the repair, I just brought it back and he handled it.

Always take my cars into this shop. Very affordable repairs/maintenance and trustworthy. Jimmy, Ali, and staff are friendly and repairs were done in a timely manner. They even dropped me off at my office nearby when I took my car in for a few repairs.

Brought in my Nissan Altima 2006 that died in the middle of the road on my commute to work. The car had multiple issues including malfunctioning crankshaft position sensors, leaking AC, shredded engine mount, cracked belts. Ali and Jimmy were highly efficient in inspecting the root cause and providing a fair quote. Left the vehicle at the shop for the weekend and got it back by Monday. The car is now running smoothly with AC blowing cold. I really appreciate their service and will recommend this place to my family and friends.

I bought an 09 STI that needed a new clutch so I bought the clutch kit on my own with out doing much research and found out that the majority of mechanics in SD wont install the customers parts. Long story short, these guys installed it for me the day after I called to get an estimate, when others were telling me it was going to take 3-4 weeks! The customer service was great and the price was very inexpensive as well compared to other quotes I got from all around the county. I wouldnt take my subie to anyone but these guys, the quality of work, price, and professionalism was spot on!

For more then 10years Im trying to find a good mechanic in SD area. Used dealers (sometimes great, sometimes so-so), used some very bad ones, some good one. Finally, I think I have found one that Im gonna stick for a while. He worked on both of my Hondas, Subaru, even on my Land Rover, and all I had was positive experience and pretty decent prices. For example, for a job that takes 3h, to replace some rear bushings on Hondas, where cheapest others were asking for close to $400 he told me we have a hand held press and we will not disassemble your whole rear end. It will take us 1-1.5h. Total was $220 with parts. You cant beat that honesty and convenience. Thank you George!
