Amazing South African food. Very diverse. Kinda of in an odd location, but their main business is shipping their food elsewhere. The crust on their pies are incredibly flakey -- its unreal! They sell pasties, curries, jerkies, etc... frozen to take home and eat as well! Definitely worth checking out!

Couple the meat pies with Societe Beer (especially the Widow Beer) walking distance away…don’t forget to pick up hot sauce or spicy pickle!

BEST PIES ANYWHERE ! My wife and I had exhausted our stock of pies and pasties from here so we needed to stock up again. We arrived just after 11am on Saturday and Savannah ( daughter of the owners ) greeted us at the cashier counter. We walked out to the back room to check out the imported goods ( Vegemite, Cadbury chocolates etc ) and the huge freezer which holds all the delicious pies, sausage rolls, pasties etc. We usually buy 10 to 12 of the pies and pasties...about 6 different varieties incl Pepper Steak, Steak & Mushroom, Chicken & Mushroom, Spinach & Feta, Ground Beef Curry, Vegetable Curry. We also saw they had Vegemite in stock at a great price. My wife grabbed some Cadbury chocolate bars incl a Rum & Raisin one for me plus some other stuff. Mary- Louise the co-owner and master pastry chef came out of the huge commercial kitchen and was so happy to see us. We have known sweet Mary-Louise and her kind husband Graham ( at their Phoenix, AZ store east present ) for many years...top people ! We are so happy we have a stack of their delicious pies and pasties in our garage freezer now !

Perkys, in my humble opinion, has the best meat pies and sausage rolls in California (at least that i have found). I seriously wish I had discovered this place years ago. Even though the owners are South African, they sell many foods that Australians consider, Aussie treats. Besides great pies and sausage rolls, they sell Lamingtons, Tutkish Delight candy bars and custard tarts - all amongst my favorite indulgences.

I got my shipment today and I cant stop to eat... I was humming and Im still humming.... Graham you taking me back to the motherland. Im not sharing my boerewors or koeksisters, my husband seems to think that 1 pack of biltong is his... not on my watch. Ive never hidden food but this i gotta hide.

I have tried the ground beef meat pie here with potatos in it and it was unbelievable. I am so going back to here. I loved the set up because it is very cozy, all the way to paper plates and the plastic forks, loved every bit of it.Very pleasant and friendly faces at this place and you feel welcome. I really can not wait to go back there.You should definitely give this place a shot but dont finish all the pies :)

My wife and I called in here last Friday to stock up on frozen pies and pasties so we bought a dozen to take home.It was great to say hi to Graham and Mary-Louise again because its been a while since we were last here.Even though we have moved to Solana Beach it is a must that we come by here every now and then to buy some delicious meat pies and pasties.You wont find better quality made with the best ingredients anywhere else that we know of.Perkys is a winner!

Stopped in yesterday for a bunny chow after finding out the deli reopened. Fabulous!Grahams food is always wonderful. My personal favorite are the pepper steak pies. We can never leave without the essentials: pies, fudge, boerwors, and drywoers. I am so glad he is back!

Really great, biltong is maybe a bit sweet for my taste but quality is awesome, found out they do a subscription service, I live in SLC so will probably take advantage of that!

This place is a hidden gem... especially the hidden part. Youll have to bust out the GPS just to find it. They only had 4 kinds of meat pies and two kinds of soda when I visited this tiny restaurant, but as long as their limited selection is good, who really cares?

Great food in general, and a wonderful taste of South African specialties. You must have a pie (no, not with fruit, but with real meat/chicken/veggies) with amazing pastry. Or the dried sausage (droe wors in Afrikaans), and the biltong (which is so much better than jerky that it is a travesty to call it South African jerky). Also try the other delicacies, and end with some chocolates from that part of the world - they put many local chocolates to shame.

Holy hell this place is GREAT! My co-workers probably hate me because I took them on this crazy mission trying to find this place from our office on Aero and Kearny Villa... It would have been easy if I knew how to get there properly (going west on Aero, right on Convoy, left on Clairemont and down would have been ideal and smarter than taking Kearny Villa, which was the Google way -- not to mention when you think you have arrived, you actually end up in this weird office-y parking lot and you are not quite sure if you are in the right place, and you then honestly feel kind of shady doing all this for meat pies...Maybe it was just us because I was making u-turns like a mo-fo and it was raining and we were cold and hungry. Man, it was a while ago but I can smell them as I write this. Ill tell you though, when we warily walked into their shop from our weary and long journey in the rain, we found ourselves in this warm and intimately small cozy quaint shop that has AMAZING MEAT PIES!!!! Not only that, but they treat you like family and they are soooooo sweet, they threw in fries since we were waiting for them to cook and I just HAD to leave a good tip and I DONT care that they didnt see me put it in the tip jar (my co-workers said it only counts if they see it). LOVE YOU GUYS! Cant wait to come back!
