Paul and Jim brothers are very nice and explained me a lot about spakers, I found them through Kef website. They both have a great knowledge!, they don’t push you to buy stuff like others do! If possible please encourage local businesses!

Initially wanting to purchase just a set of front speakers, my shopping experience started with another shop I entered - had me listen to a pair of speakers and pressured me like a car salesman to buy. Paul at Almas explained that the speakers were overkill for the size of the room I was in - and the lessons/learning went on from there. Paul and Jim were both generous with their time and information and more than just pleased with the results. By the way, replaced my center and rear speakers and receiver as well. Much warmer sound than where I started out from. Couldnt be more pleased with the results.Purchased a TV antenna as well. Great antenna but inadequate installation. Had a local antennae guy remount the unit - so minus one star.

A little smaller than they used to be, but still going strong. Great hidden treasures in the used gear, and theyre repping for some big names you cant get anywhere else in the area.

Found Almas through the Kef website. Ended up buying a pair of Kef Q750s. Paul was very helpful throughout the entire process. Was able to listen to the 750s before I bought them and compare them to other speakers as well.If you want a store that knows what theyre talking about and can steer you in the right direction, this is the place.

Got a pair of Kef LS50 Meta Bookshelf speakers. 10/10 recommend these guys. They know their stuff.

It’s an absolute pleasure to find a place where the knowledge level is high, the prices reasonable, and the focus on the customer primary. I dropped in hoping to get caught up on the state of home audio and could not be more happy I did. No pressure, lots of assistance to help me figure out what I want and need. I’ll be back to buy.

Havent been to Almas since they were on Michigan Ave. Was in the market for a Subwoofer upgrade Went to Paulson and they act like they were too busy to help so I took my money where they always treated me right. Looked up And seen Almas was open so i dashed over there where I should have went in the 1st place but i didnt know they were still open. I discovered Alma’s through a Craig’s list ad. Upon arrival I quickly discovered that the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a nice variety of new and used gear. I was able to thoroughly inspect a set of vintage speakers before I walked out the door with them.I’ll recommend stopping in just to check out all the used gear and chatting with the guys.

I went in for the garage sale and swapped stories of 70s/80s/90s hi-fi gear with the guys. Fair pricing. Fair with trades. I also saw modern upscale lines like Sony video and Sonos audio for those who are not info the hi-fi nerdery and just want really good sound that is also really easy to use. Recommended for enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts.

Great old-school family other hi-fi shop. They know what theyre talking about and they spend time with you to find out what you are looking for. I love going there.
