I called several LBS, even a closer to me American Cycle location, this Royal Oak store was the only one to have stock and I was able to get the exact E-Bike my wife was looking for. Rick and Dan were really great to work with. And it matches our Tesla.

I recently purchased a Roscoe 7 bike for my son at American Cycle & Fitness in Royal Oak. My primary contact was with Chris. I flew all the way from CA to pick up my bike and I can honestly say that it was completely worth it. Chris was extremely kind and helpful. His understanding, assurance, and assistance was exceptional and greatly appreciated. My son has been waiting for this bike for over 6 months. We initially made the purchase in CA but when the bike arrived the staff here sold my sons bike to someone else and lied to us about its arrival. We were then told that the next shipment would not come until Sept. 2021. My son was completely crushed. I then found the bike my son wanted in MI. It may sound ridiculous that I flew that far to get a bike, but what mom wouldnt want to make her child happy. I called the store and Chris picked up. I explained to him what happened, he was very understanding. He confirmed that his store had the bike and assured me that he would hold it for a week to give me time to make arrangements for the pick up, and he did. When I arrived for the pick up, although I would have loved to meet Chris, he was not there that day. However, he made sure that other staff were fully aware of my arrival and I was in disbelief at the kind service I received. The staff showed me the bike, then packed it for me since I had to take it on the plain, they made sure that it would not be subjected to any damage, and put it in my car. I would highly recommend this store. Their time and effort to make sure that their customer left happy was simply priceless.

I live in Los Angeles and I was looking to upgrade the fork on my bike. I searched all of the local bike shops and, since I am new to biking, I had quite a few questions. Not only were there no forks available, most of the local shops were impatient trying to answer my questions. That changed when I contacted the Royal Oak store. Dan, Ryan and Daniel were very helpful. Not only did they locate the fork I needed, they were very knowledgeable, informative and patiently answered all of my questions. Dan sent me images of the product I was going to purchase. I sent him images of my bike and he verified whether the fork would fit my specific bike. I was very pleased with the service I received from the crew. I will definitely purchase from them again, and they get my highest recommendation.

Great experience. I got my bike several years ago from another bike shop. I used to think they had wonderful customer service until I came to the TREK Store in Royal Oak!!! What a difference!!!!! The service department staff was incredible!!!!! They taught me so much about my bike and regarding the repairs needed for my bike as well as my wifes. The process was quick and simple and I had our bikes back within 24 hours. I will definitely buy my next bike from them!!!!!

The staff was very nice especially Cecilia who was my sales agent. I also had help with maybe a manager but dont know his name and the tall guy with dreads. Purchasing was simple. I also like that my bike was held for an hour while I checked KLM down the street. It was the only one left in the color that I wanted but I have to go make sure that they didnt have anything different. I also think the awards program is great and I have rewards from previous purchases that I can use to purchase my extended warranty. The staff was able to put on the rack and kickstand while I waited and also helped me with securing it to my bike rack and providing the tools I needed. Overall it was a great experience and I cant wait to use my new bike on the road.

I drive quite a bit out of my way to go to this store because they are excellent. They really understand the intricacies of their bikes, and how they work. They are outstanding at diagnosing and fixing problems, and are also patient in explaining the issues. And on top of everything, they are very nice too! Five out of five!!

2 stars just because the customer service was very welcoming. First things first I did NOT purchase my bike from here. I purchased a diamondback atroz 3 and had it shipped here for assembly, being my first duel suspension bike I did not want to mess anything up. They called me a few days before my estimated pick up date to let me know a part was broken I got the part and took it to them. They let me know my bike was ready the next day for pick up I went and picked it up everything seemed fine. I was riding it a bit and noticed it was slipping gears pretty often after tinkering with the Barrell adjuster it was working fine. A few days later the rear brake was humming then it began slipping again.after taking the bike to my lbs they noticed the rear quick release wasnt even tight! To have a bike leave your shop with such a a small yet crucial problem is pathetic to me. I can understand things happen but I will not be doing business here again.

I know and trust the products they carry from various manufacturers. What makes it for me, is that I know the staff use and can speak to the products theyre recommending to me. Not only that, Ive found myself having various conversations with other customers and staff members on a range of topics. Overall, just a great place to talk with people. I feel like Ive met and talked to people I wouldnt mind going on rides with, or just having a beer with. I came to American Cycle and Fitness after deciding it was time to buy my first adult bike. I have been riding my childhood bike for the last 15 years. It was exciting yet intimidating to finally make the step to upgrade from a Walmart or Target bike. There are so many options at this store and the experience was everything I had hoped for.Drew helped me through the whole process. He was extremely patient and knowledgeable. He answered all my long winded questions and explained the differences in brakes and styles of bikes. I made a decision and had to order my bike since they didnt have any in stock. It took approximately a month, however it came exactly when they said it would.When I went to pick up, Rick helped me pick out a helmet and Drew assisted me again and showed me some other accessory options.I cant say enough good things and I would tell anyone who is looking for a bike or accessories to stop in here. Purchased their gold plan along with it which includes unlimited tune ups and adjustments for 3 years. Service is slow (10-14 days for a tune up in season) and has been very hit or miss. Past several times have been a miss. One month ago I brought it in for a tune up and specifically asked to dial in the shifting. First ride after I got it back was glacial hills in northern Michigan and my chain couldn’t catch a single gear. Had to walk the bike back and take it to a LBS to fix it. Recently a service employee gave me a hard time for washing my bike myself so I decided to drop it off for a wash. Took 4 days and pretty sure someone just wiped it down with a wet cloth. Still dirt/mud all over it. I’ll try to attach a photo. Would give 5 stars for sales staff and probably 2 for service. There are still some good bike mechanics there, Dan has always been really helpful. However since the gold plan allows you to go to any of the ACF stores I’ll probably take it somewhere else.

I called the store to inquire of a womens small hybrid Trek bike for my wifes birthday. I spoke with Rick and he informed me that they have zero inventory of the bike I wanted to buy for my wifes birthday gift. Rick advised me that I could order the bike, however, it would not be available until April 2021. But wait, superior customer service kicks in. Rick said, Give me your name and number. I will make some calls and if I find the bike Ill call you. Within a couple of hours Rick called me back to say that he found the bike, but couldnt guarantee delivery and it could take a week, approximately four days after my wifes birthday. I was happy. The next day, Rick called me and said that he had the bike delivered so that I could surprise my wife on her birthday!Im so happy that Rick went up and beyond to search for the bike, find the bike, and coordinate efforts to deliver the bike in time for the birthday!I could spend my money anywhere, but I spent my money on superior customer service.Rick introduced me to his manager, who took time out to speak with me during a busy peak time.Rick, thank you. My wife was super happy and shares in my appreciation for your actions.Oh, I bought another bike the same day for me.

I love this bike shop and have purchased three bikes from them. One of them has a storied past:In 2009 I purchased a Trek Soho city commuter bike from the store and got a lot of great use out of it. Several years later, my sons (14 years old at the time) Trek was up on the stand in our garage for repairs and he used my bike to get to swim practice. During an after-practice stop at a local bagel shop, the bike was stolen from in front of the bagel place. My son called the police (Birmingham) and filed a report, and that was the last we thought we would hear of the bike. Fast forward two years. I receive a call from Robert at the store inquiring if I had donated that Trek Soho bike because it had just come in for service . They had the foresight to run the serial number and saw that it was registered to me as the purchaser. Unfortunately, by the time I called back the bike had been picked up already. I worked with both Robert and Brad from the store, and they contacted the Royal Oak police to report the appearance of the bike and to turn over any information they had.The bike was never recovered (nor do I think it will be), but the guy who stole it had committed more serious crimes and has been captured. All thanks to the attention to detail of the employees of this store. Well done.Buy your bikes from them, you wont regret it.Attached is a picture of the bike at the center of this story. Didnt have a lot of road bikes in store. They also didnt have the indoor trainer I was looking for, although they did have other, similar models. I was really looking for the one they didnt have. My sister purchased one a few days prior, but I guess she got one of the last available ones. The staff was very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions based on my intended riding purpose.

I had a fantastic experience this evening at American Cycle & Fitness. The staff exceeded my expectations with their knowledge and eagerness to help me find a new bike. I needed a bike that I could install a custom pet carrier to and Rick was able to find me the perfect bike. While I was there I purchased a few more accessories that Doug was able to install with ease. I like the fact that all the employees have a depth of knowledge on any kind of bike because they are avid riders themselves. Rick and Doug went above and beyond to make sure everything fit correctly and safely. If you are looking for a new bike this is the place to go! I just want to say that after 3 years I still go here for air and accessories or like when my gear ⛮ chain was behind the sprocket. Out near Franklin Cider Mill and I only wish that they had a mobile bike service. I was lucky that my Mom was up from FL and has a truck.... Thats just A mere suggestion.Great variety of bikes for all types of cyclist enthusiasts.Trek, Detroits Shinola, Detroit Bike Company as well as Electra bikes. Any age of riders from the pull behind carriers for kids and dogs to training wheels or the lesser extent balance bikes for lil ones too. To the larger trikes for the more mature person.We purchased a our bikes in June, 2016 and have been back to purchase bike computers and bells. We also needed to get my Beautiful Electra Townies 🔗 adjusted two my wooden aluminum basket tightened down.My companions Trek Dual Sport has had to have his derailleur replaced as well as the chain and his wheels twice already from of all things a loose cable tie. The bike mechanics are awesome everytime we enter the shop. Im just a little bit worried about the length of the turnaround for our bikes tune-ups it could be up to 48 hours, and I dont want to be without my bike for more than 24 hours and thats really pushing it.

Had an issue with our rear tire off the Townie blowing out tubes. (2 in ~60 days) Walked in to purchase a new tube and asked for a recommendation as to why it was happening, as i could not see anything causing it. The guy behind the counter was super cool and recommended the next up in tube size due to the narrow rim. He also looked at the rim and tire and agreed there was nothing he could see that would cause the issue. So bought the tube, they offered to put everything back together for me while I was there so I said sure. Price was good and hopefully the issue will be gone! Great Folks and very helpful !

Customer service is awesome! Amazing people working there, but..... the prices are crazy expensive! With the monopolistic hold on trek products and parts their tune ups start 120$-150$ versus other professional bicycle stores 70-80$ . Almost double!

I bought my Townie Electra over 10 years ago, and when I bring it in for tune ups, etc, I love how you guys think its a great bike and value it for the classic it is WITHOUT trying to sell me a new one! :-) If and when I do buy a new bike (I might need two!) Introduced myself as a beginner customer, had a few bike models in mind as such, but generally letting them know I knew few and how i wanted to ride. When i got to purchasing bikes it was kinda awkward to be asked what I know about bikes that I dont. I was asked what I knew about bikes i havent ever seen which gave awkward silence. I asked about one line of bike (Marlin 5) which they had two, one that my friend in the store purchased however when I went to go purchase the other I was told it wasnt in stock within a span of 5 minutes which was kinda confusing. I put a deposit on a different bike since that one was gone? I was given a time frame for the bike to be built, within two days, which was missed. Hard to get in contact with on my end, as I havent gotten a reply by text or call. I understand the difficult times but was expecting a call or text maybe at least if my bike is due late, given you have my money

I called and asked for an inner tube. The person on the phone was short and impatient with me, and loudly sighed when I didn’t have the answer to their question right away. This left a bad impression and seemed unprofessional. They said I have to place an online order and it’ll take 3 days. I am tired of businesses using the pandemic as an excuse to provide horrible customer service. I went to a local competitor in Ferndale and that bike store had a much more efficient system in place, with staff serving you from your car and half the price for the same brand. It felt safe, and I am not sure what process taking a inner tube off a shelf takes for 3 days. If they were genuinely backed up Due to staff calling off or something you think they would apologize profusely. That’s the problem with corporate chain stores. When I complained about the inefficient procedure and overall experience, an employee deflected and said that I am not sensitive to those afflicted. I’ve already had 2 family members affected. That has nothing to do with the fact that their procedure wasn’t as efficient. I would never return to this store, after the experience on the phone, the process, the price, the fact that it’s a corporate chain, and the way they deflected.

I decided it was time to set the pain cave up for the winter, but had trouble getting my trainer tire all the way on my wheel.I just moved to the area and have been wanting to check out the Trek store anyway since thats all Ill ride. I took my wheel up to the shop. Tim and Corey were super friendly, they got me hooked up pretty fast, I even stayed a minute to chat about bikes and group riding. Ill definitely be going back. Looking forward to road riding in the spring!*update* had some serious service done on my road bike, the turnaround time was very quick and the team was friendly as usual. Decided to get in to mountain biking this year and rented a bike from this shop several times. Awesome service and really nice people! Great place to go when getting startedWhen I decided to buy one of those rental bikes a few weeks later, I was helped by Vinny who made it incredibly easy. After a first ride I wasnt too happy with my selection, so I took the bike back to the store to see if I could swap it out for a different rental (same model). Vinny was extremely helpful here, and he helped me swap it out for another without any added cost! Definitely saved me some buyers regret and I will 100% be coming back here when Im ready to upgrade to a new bike. Thanks Vinny!

A young girl in my church had her bike stolen. I wanted to help out, and my own daughters old bike was sitting unused in our garage. I brought the bike to American Cycle & Fitness to have some new hand-grips put on, and to have a mechanic make sure that it was safe to ride. The mechanic, Daniel, went far above my expectations, giving the bike a very careful, thorough inspection and tune-up and even donating a new saddle for the bike from their parts bin! American Cycle & Fitness generously helped out, charged only for the hand-grips and minimum labor costs. When I expressed surprise that Daniel was doing so much, he said, It takes a community. It really made me feel like we were partners in doing something nice for this young girl, and that my bike shop didnt merely want to make a dollar, they wanted to make a difference.

This bike shop is the best! We bought a bike and a Thule bike rack. Even though it was pouring down rain, the sales manager installed the bike rack on our car so that we could get it home. After watching a video on how to install them... I have to say I was impressed! In addition to excellent service, the sales staff was very pleasant and easy to deal with. They never got pushy and let us take our time while making our decision. I highly recommend this bike shop.

Purchased 2 bikes from here and Paula was a huge help. This was our first time purchasing good quality bikes from a bicycle store and Paula did an exceptionally well job explaining the difference between them as well as making sure we were fit for the correct size bicycle. What I liked most of all was the excellent Customer Service skills of Kirk. I came in exhausted immediately after a Spin Class on 6.15.19. Although that wasnt the best time to be shopping, I was in the area so I decided to stop by. Kirk was very accommodating, non judgemental, professional, engaging and welcoming. The bike’s stock dimensions didn’t work for me due to my physical build (average height with a longer torso and shorter legs). I really needed a good fitting. Chris helped me select my new bike, and provided the custom fitting I required. His adjustments to the bike succeeded in achieving both an exceptional fit for my physique and a very comfortable ride. The people there are great. We have bought multiple bikes for my kids here. Anytime work or adjustments have been needed, they have been completed quickly and professionally.Our latest experience was wonderful. Was told it would be 2 weeks to work on my sons bike. Once we got there, they took it in immediately and fixed it within 30 minutes. My son is thrilled, as am I.Great job all. Greatly appreciate your time and effort.

Very knowledgeable when it comes to bikes. they currently have electric bikes in stock as well. Do not waste your time going to a big box store.

I bought a Trek bike here. The service was good. No one pressured me into anything, all questions were answered and no one balked at my 15-minute test ride. I will be back for my next sweet ride for sure. The service department is top notch here too.
