“I want to marry this sandwich”Friend and his wife took me here a few years ago. Place still does not disappoint. South Bronx club was amazing. Mediterranean sandwich was so good my friend told his wife he would happily divorce her if he could marry the sandwich.

Been going here since high school and this place is still going strong and just as good as the first time! Amazing service and people! Since I’ve moved away from Richmond, I always try to stop on in when I am in town visiting friends and family. I took a friend from Roanoke to eat here and he said it was incredible! Love this place! Great local Italian deli. They known for their sandwiches. They offer their Italian deli meats and cheeses for sale by weight. I have had several sandwiches and have been satisfied by all. Additionally I have purchased deli meat and fresh cheese for home consumption. While not a full sit down restaurant, sandwiches are made fresh upon ordering thus can take time to make at prime meal times especially if cooking of components are needed. If you are short for time, order ahead.

Just ate my first to-go order after having had lunch here quite a few times and it was great! Food was hot, with the cheese on my hot turkey sub still melty and good, potato salad was nice and cold. The person behind the register is always above and beyond kind and today was no different, even though they looked pretty busy when I arrived.This is my favorite and first choice for lunch when I’m on Cary and I’ll definitely be back, many even later this week. :)

Been going here for at least 25 years. Authentic deli with high quality meats and excellent combination of ingredients. My fav is the grilled Industrial! Yummy!!! Tom Roukous does a fabulous job keeping the tradition alive in Carytown.

This place deserves all the hype. Its a bustling little deli, with fast and friendly service. I ordered the fresh mozzarella sandwich, and it was everything I wanted for lunch. Would definitely recommend stopping by if youre in the area!

First and foremost the staff was very sweet. Second, the sandwiches were great. Third, the atmosphere wrapped it all together. We got a reuben and an Italian hero, with a bag of chips each. We both loved our sandwiches.Note to self though, bring a water bottle! We ended up buying 4 cans of soda to wash everything down, and talk about a pretty penny for a drink!I understand that its local, though. (: So we were happy to pay. Looking forward to coming back and trying a cannoli.

I was thrilled by this place. I was very hungry and I’m not familiar with Carytown, but I walked past this place and I knew it was the one. I ended up getting some sort of Mediterranean sandwich, and it hit the spot. It had turkey, pesto, lettuce and some other stuff, but I thought it was really good. They have a huge selection of chips, and I ended up choosing a bag that I didn’t like, but that’s on me not the restaurant. The sandwich was made to order and I got it take out, but the service was still solid. If I’m ever in the area again and craving a tasty sandwich, I know where I’ll be headed!

Great little deli with lots of sandwich options! Good craft drink selection. Very clean inside. Very nice counter personnel. Bread was fresh, but not toasted/crispy outside as I would expect in an Italian deli. Not a chain. Better/authentic than the other deli on the block.

They serve the Italian hoagie hot, so be aware before you order, but is was a good sandwich.

This place exemplifies what I love about living in Richmond. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was everything I could hope for out of a small deli. I got the meatball sub this time, and like everything I have tried here, it was delicious. I feel like the portion sizes can run a little small for the price but it always more than makes up for it in quality. I honestly have no complaints.

South Bronx Club was excellent. Highly recommend for a quick sandwich fix.

The sandwiches here are AMAZING. Our favorites are Barn Yard and the Ruben. Yummy sides, too! And the people who work here are always pleasant. Bathrooms are down stairs. No changing tables.

Im kinda surprised at how this place has a 4.5 rating. I was pretty disappointed with what I received from this deli.Taste: I ordered the Real Italian Hero. A sandwich of prosciutto, mozzarella, basil leaves, and roasted red peppers. The taste was good. Theres a dash of olive oil on the bread that really adds to the flavor. Unfortunately the few sprinkles of basil and peppers were basically lost in the sandwich and therefore non existent. This is the only reason place got 2 stars from me.Price: My goodness. $12 for a sandwich. Im more than willing to pay a high price for some real good food, but at this price the sandwich missed the mark in size and substance. The sandwich was thinner than a can of soda, shorter than 2 cans stacked on top of each other. Its incomprehensible how this size would go for $12. I understand prosciutto and mozzarella is not cheap, but its also not this expensive either.Service: I arrived at 1:20 PM. There were roughly 5-6 people already eating and 1 person at the cashier paying for his food. I was next and made my order. Almost 10 minutes later I received my sandwich. Not sure what took so long, my order only had a few slices of cheese and meat.Overall: This place seems to have the right ingredients to make a really good meal, but their gauge on size, price, and substance needs to be calibrated. Quite honestly, they need to pick up the speed on service as well. Ive been to a handful of Italian delis in my life and maybe my issue was bringing that expectation to this location. Youre better off going to Jimmy Johns or Pot Belly.

Great experience at Coppola’s Deli in Carytown yesterday. It was Labor Day and we decided to look for an open restaurant in Carytown. There was one other patron in Coppola’s so there was no wait. I ordered the South Bronx Club with extra Sauerkraut and my fiancé got the industrial. Both sandwiches came out piping hot and delicious! The employees were very friendly and hospitable. The atmosphere was very laid back. We had a nice view of Carytown as well. Also the portion sizes were huge so that was another plus. If you’re in Carytown and are in the mood for a sandwich you have to check out Coppola’s!

Excellent food and snacks, as well as miscellaneous items I cant name off hand. Delicious cooked sandwiches also theres dine in and carryout. Definitely give this place a try.

Nice, unique, small, local deli with homemade pasta and potato salad. Fresh made desserts also. Sandwiches are good, but for my taste, I was expecting more flavor. Dont get me wrong, its definitely worth stopping by for a meal, and you are supporting local businesses!

If you live in Richmond and haven’t been to Coppola’s yet, put it on your to-do list. Best cheesecake I have ever had in my life (creamy, rich, and fluffy). Top notch service and high quality ingredients. The famous Industrial, their classic Italian hero, lives up to the hype and then some. Tom and his family are running an amazing operation and I now understand why it is considered a Richmond institution. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

Delicious subs made on french bread. Other yummy italian snacks. Plus you can pick up a bottle of wine or a can of tomatoes.

This is my favorite sub/sandwich shop in RVA! Everything Ive ordered here has been delicious and I love that everything is super fresh. My go-to sandwich is their chicken, bacon and ranch; I think its called the Rancher (its not on the board menu). But I also love their honey turkey sandwich and their cheese colombo. You cant go wrong with any sandwich you order here. Theyve been in business for so long and I hope they never go anywhere because they are such a loved local staple in Carytown.

Every sandwich I’ve ever had from Coppola’s has been on point. Their cannolis are divine. Their staff is super helpful, and hospitable. It’s no wonder that they are a Richmond institution!

If you havent gone yet you are really missing out on that small batch, fresh, family taste in a sandwich at a very fair reasonable price for the quality offered. Every time I go here I have such an incredible sandwich. All of the food is great. Really reminds me of an Italian deli in Brooklyn. The meats and cheeses all taste fresh as could be. Great staff, too.

Great spot if you want a sandwich. Ive tried the Industrial and the Cheese Colombo. Both were yummy. The Cheese Colombo was like nothing Ive had before. Highly recommended.

This place is absolutely incredible in every way. The manager is such a nice guy, always making sure me and my girlfriend have a great experience, and always remembers our order. Speaking of that, we always get the Cheese Columbo because it’s always delicious. We are always disappointed when it’s gone, and are tempted to spend more. Really really good. I got “The Industrial” and would highly recommend it. Didn’t take long at all. The atmosphere is also really cool and the smell of the food inside the restaurant was super appetizing. If it’s nice out and you’d prefer to eat outside there are tables outside.

I can’t speak for the rest of their food; my husband loved his sandwich; but I had the absolute reuban I’ve EVER had in RVA. The bread was mushy and obviously not toasted at all; couldn’t find the thousand island dressing... just bummed. It’s hard to screw up a Reuben. Barely any cheese.It was well filled with meat.

Amazing pasta dinner. We have been here many times for lunch and the sandwiches are perfect, but this is the first time weve been for dinner. The jazz, the family atmosphere, the delicious cannolis, all made for a relaxing evening.

Its a great little Italian sandwich shop. The cashier had us laughing and feeling comfortable. I ordered a rueben and my son ordered a grilled cheese. We both loved the food. It was hot, delicious, and filling! It was a larger sandwich than I expected, so I was stuffed. Couldnt recommend them more!

One of the best delis in the Richmond area. Great sandwiches, and better desserts. Its not very noticeable when in Carytown, but its all the more worth it when you finally find this gem on your walk around town.

Great Italian Deli in the heart of the city. If youre looking for good Italian sandwiches, deli meat, or snacks, this is one of only a few place in RVA to find the good stuff.

Excellent Subs. We had the industrial and the meatball sub and both were very good. We got A Slice of Cheesecake to go. I want to return to try some of their pasta dinners which sound good and the sausage lasagna and the spanakopita both looked very appetizing. Definitely get a cream soda with your sub.

Impressive.The Food: To quote my fiance who grew up in Italy, the food reminded her of Italy, except it was better.The service: Greeted at the door by the owner makes this a very personable experience.The atmosphere/location: Right by the Byrd in the heart of Cary Town, you cant ask for better. The atmosphere is an exact replica of an Italian deli.Price: Very fair price for a premium product. Which make this place a bargain.

Best sandwich shop in carytown - hands down

So delicious! It does take awhile for the subs to come out but once they do they are so good. So much tastier than Jimmy Johns or Subway. Great little sub shop around the corner!

Cheese columbo was very good

Went for the first time today and had one of THE BEST sandwiches I’ve ever had. Staff was very friendly and professional, prices are great for what you get, and the food is phenomenal.

If you are looking for an old school deli sandwich shop feel, Coppolas is the place for you. Amazing sandwiches, great sides like pasta salad, and loads of old city vibe. The place is bigger inside than you would expect, but still not great for large groups. Parking can be tough in this busy area, but the parking deck around the corner can help with that. Just be aware that if the deck is full and you go all the way in, you will either have to back out or struggle to turn around.

Fantastic lunch yesterday. We had a Mediterranian and an Industrial, traded halves. Loved both. Comfortable and clean table in back, very friendly service. Look forward to going back when in Richmond.

Kind of pricey for portion size but the quality is great and the staff are friendly

I’m not going to lie, the sandwich was pretty good up until I bit into a long piece of hair. $9 was wasted because I refused to drive back across town for a refund. I heard great things about this shop and a little disappointed that I didn’t get the same experience.

Good sandwiches at a reasonable price. Not another concept or marketing ploy, thank God. And the owner takes an interests, which is more rare than you might think.

This place has some of the best deli sandwiches in the city - but is run by incompetents. I just waited 20 minutes for two sandwiches and there was only one other customer for the entire time. There were No less than 3 EMPLOYEES at the time! According to my ticket, I ordered at 17:43; I walked out at 18:05. The only time I got an explanation was when I told the guy bringing me my sandwich that it took a very long time. He said that they accidentally put cheese on the sandwich when I didnt want any. Still, 20 minutes!!?!? With no explanation! Also, only two out of three employees were wearing gloves while preparing my food. That wouldnt be bad if he wasnt the one preparing my food. Dont worry though, Im sure he washes his hands before returning to work after using the facilities in accordance with state law.
