My Subaru had some serious transmission problems, and ended up needing a new transmission and clutch. I actually switched to poor boys after another mechanic in town quoted me way too high of a price. Poor boys was very helpful from the start of me contacting them. They towed my car to their shop themselves and did all the work on it for a fair price compared to some other local places. My car hasnt had any problems at all since the repair. The only thing I would have changed was being more realistic with their time frame. I understand it was a tedious repair, but a few times I called to check how progress was going and they would say it would be finished within a day or two but it ended up taking about a week and a half. I still give them 5 stars for great service and know that they can probably give more realistic time estimates for smaller repairs. Thank you poor boys!

Blake is great at explaining cars in a simple way that even I can understand, and I’m a city girl who knew nothing at all about cars! These great individuals fixed my wheel bearing on a 4 wheel drive dodge ram 3/4 ton. I called several places to get help and knowone could do anything for days. Incorrect diagnostics.I had replaced all my O2 sensors, but one was still throwing a code even though I had replaced it 3 times. Figured there was probably a wiring issue, but didnt want to deal with finding it, so I took it to Poor Boys for diagnostics. They had my car for 3-4 days, and told me that the O2 sensor needed to be replaced. Like I said before, it had already been replaced 3 times so I know that wasnt the issue. Waste of my time, took the car back and found the wiring issue myself. No charge for the diagnostics though.

Very upfront about how much things will cost, I had a bad motor mount and a dead power steering pump and they got my car all fixed up with it 4 hours of making my appointment!

When I moved here in September, I was wary on who to trust with my car. I researched different places and decided to put my trust into Poor Boys Auto and I was not disappointed! They took great care of my car, called to update me, and they charge fairly. I still bring my car here 6 months later for small issues (luckily no big ones have surfaced) and will continue to bring my car here whenever I have an issue big or small.

My trans was all screwed up. And the owner and his son helped me pull it and build it. Best trans I’ve ever driven with. Good quality work. Spent a lot of money here and they gave me wonderful service.

So I took my bosses truck(2005 Tundra) here to get the transmission serviced because it was last done 100k ago and was due. When I dropped it off I asked them if they were going to use the correct Toyota fluid and I emphasized that they need to use the Toyota fluid. So the truck is done like a week later and I go and pick it up and pay like $280. My boss literally lives a couple hundred feet away from the shop so I drive it back and it seemed fine. The truck sat for a week or two where I parked it and when someone to drive it they notice the transmission was slipping super bad. So I call up the shop and tell them whats happening they tell me to bring it down and theyll take a look at it. This was on a Monday and I told them I have an appointment at the dealer on Friday if they cant get it fixed. So Friday rolls around and I show up and they havent even looked at the truck yet. So Im frustrated again and told them that if the dealer fixes it by just putting the actual Toyota fluid in it that Im going to be wanting my money back and they kind of laugh at me like I was an idiot. One week later the dealer does the exact same service with actual Toyota fluid and the truck is literally like brand new. No slipping at all. Let me just throw it in there as well that it wasnt slipping at all before we took it to Poor Boys. So a day or two later when I had time I drove it back down there and told them that the dealer fixed it by putting the right fluid in there and that I wanted my money back. The guy at the desk basically tells me Im an idiot and then they did not do anything to the truck that would cause it to slip. He keeps citing this law that manufacturers cant require you to use their own fluid. And I showed him that in the owners manual it literally says to only use the Toyota genuine fluid or it can cause damage to the transmission. And he just keeps saying that they cant do that and the fluid they use was just as good. And I just told him my transmission was working before I brought it here and it wasnt working after so obviously something was either wrong with how you did it or the fluid you use. And he basically just told me to kick rocks in that they didnt do anything. So I asked to speak to the owner and he essentially told me the same thing but he was a little nicer about it and said that he would look into the fluid and see if there was something wrong with it. Which basically he was saying I dont think we did anything wrong either but Im going to give you an answer you like. So I told him I want at least half of my money back and he said he can do that but he has no way to refund money at the shop so he would have to do it later. Of course 2 months later they havent refunded me any money. So I spent three hundred bucks to have my truck broken here. Stay away from this place!*Please note that the owners probably going to respond to this and refute some of the things Im saying but this was 100% exactly what happened.

I was able to get ahold of an employee the first time calling, he was very helpful in suggesting what they could do to fix my problem. Once in the store I was greeted right away and taken care of quickly, they were able to finish the repair faster than they had quoted me and it was done wonderfully. The charged a very fair price and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the local area!

I would give this place a better review but the communication was poor. I talked to Blake a couple of days ago and he told me I could come in the next day for them to work on the car. I called the following day to double check that I could come in. A coworker asked Blake and he said to come, but when I got there he said to come the next day. They did help me out by putting a simple door clip in for a good price. Im guessing it was relatively quick but I was given two estimates for time and they didnt call me when it was finished like they said they would. I waited over two hours, then waited longer because no one was at the front desk and the bell to ring for service doesnt work. I hope communication improves because this place seemed good.

Purchased a used car recently and one day it didnt start up...Talk.nerve-wracking. I dropped it off to Poor Boys and they were able to look at it that day and I drove it off their lot the same day. I had an issue with the lock in my car, I called a couple of places, went to a couple and couldnt fix it, I called these guys they told me to go, they checked the lock and fixed it in like less than 5 minutes, awesome service, 100 % recommended!

My pickup sat there for nine months. Let my parts get snowed on. Every time I stopped to find out he would tell me hes going to start it but never did. I finally found some one else. I wouldnt take a pedal bike to them to fix. I wouldnt recommend anyone to that place.

Poor boys took my car in when it was acting up out of nowhere. I thought it was a power steering problem but turns out it was a much bigger problem. After asking around, poor boys was the best price. They did an amazing job for a great price.

Took my truck in to have them put a clutch in it. Blake managed to squeeze me into his busy schedule and get it done same day so I wasnt without my daily driver for long! I originally wrote a review of my bad experience with Poor Boys Auto Repair but was called and felt bullied to take it down. Lawyers were thrown around in the conversation. I felt there was a lack of communication, unprofessionalism, and a lack of time accommodation. I would never take my business here. (Mind you the way they mistreat their customers honest criticism. Name slandering and complete childish behavior are some of the characteristics and qualities Poor Boys Auto are good at. Just look at their facebook comments towards their customers that offered room for a little growth.)

Blake is the best very honest and even still contacts me asking how my car is doing! I would recommend them to anyone!

Best auto shop in Rexburg. I’ve found them to be the super honest, the most inexpensive and really quick at what they do. I definitely would recommend them!

We needed to get an issue with our power steering diagnosed. We called another shop in town and they couldnt give us a solid price to do a diagnosis. He told us it could range from 50$-150$ to have it looked at. Im not against paying to have a car looked at but appreciate a concrete price to do so. Meanwhile Poor Boys Auto didnt charge us to look at it even after we offered to pay. They were able to find they problem within an hour. If we didnt have the parts under warranty at another shop in Utah, we definitely would have had it fixed here. The guy who helped us was friendly and honest. Highly reccomend.

Best place to get a repair in town. I spent a few days getting quotes from every place in Rexburg. These guys not only had the best price, they also didnt try to push repairs that I didnt even need. Super friendly and easy to work with.And for reference, I had a wheel bearing replaced.

Now I cant say much about their work because they never got around to it but dang they take forever. I called in and made an appointment for my truck to get a lift kit and the steering fixed and told them I wanted it done by a certain day they told me to bring it in the following Tuesday and they would get it all done Wednesday so it would be done by the weekend for me, great! Tuesday comes I drop it off right as they open and Thursday I call, after the 2nd attempt a few hours later they answered and told me they would get to it the following day, Friday I call an hour before they close, again no answer, called 5 minutes before they close, no answer (also they have no voicemail) stopped by the shop right at closing time, nobody there so after another call I decide that Im going to take it home because I needed it that weekend but I didnt get a chance to go grab the keys until the following Tuesday morning where he said oh I didnt even notice it was gone he then said he was going to get to it the next day (which would have been a week after he said he was going to do it) but it didnt matter by that time I had already gotten it all Finnish, needless to say they are not good at timelines

Poor Boys Auto is fantastic, especially for students on a budget. I had an oil leak in my car that was more trouble than expected. It was so troublesome and so deep that it took them several days of (over 12 straight hours of work) to fix. They knew my situation and didnt want to bleed me dry so they didnt even charge me for all of the hours they worked on my car.

I was stressing out about finding a mechanic to trust in Rexburg but i read all the great reviews and im glad I chose Poor Boys. They are very knowledgable and have fair prices. You can tell they are not about taking your money and getting crazy rich but rather helping people out and doing what they love. I would definitely recommend them to anyone but especially to college students who are away from home and not sure who to trust.

The staff is friendly, but my experience was mostly poor.I Needed to replace my A/C compressor.I had heard that if you dont bug them, they will take forever to get work done on your car. So, I called a couple times throughout the day. Didnt finish until around 6:00 (they told me they had already started at around 2:00 and that it would take a couple hours).The main issue, however, was that less than 2 months after I graduated and moved away, the A/C completely stopped working again. Very frustrated about that.I recently took my vehicle to get the A/C fixed after it stopped working after I left Rexburg. One of the bolts for the compressor that Poor Boys used wasnt long enough. My new mechanic also found a leak in the condenser, which Poor Boys missed.

Good pricing and decent work but awful communication on their part. Constantly got my appointments cancelled as I walked in. They’ll never call you back.

Poor customer service. Had to send my trucks mother board back to GMC for reprogramming after they used a bad tuner. Then won a $1000 small claims judgment against them. Would not recommend them to anyone

I had an issue with a miscommunication in my computer, and instead of throwing parts at it that could have cost a lot of money including $300 for a module. Blake looked at my wiring for my EBCM and found a broken wire. He fixed it quickly and efficiently, he saved me a bunch of money.

They are very friendly and very helpful. I went a year ago looking for a diagnostic on my A/C all around Rexburg and every other store said it would be at least 30$, but poor boys looked at it for free along with a free recharge on my A/C. I struggle to trust mechanics, but things like that show me that this is an honest company.

Blake came and towed my car, because it wouldnt start. He tested the alternator, battery, starter, fuses, and the neutral safety switch. We determined that my keyless entry fob had died and was tripping the anti theft feature. He was completely honest with me and told me what the problem was. He fixed some wires that were hanging on the bottom of my car causing the check engine light to come on without me even knowing or asking. Blake is super honest, and VERY fair. I left his shop with a full wallet, and knowing that Ill go back for any repairs I need. 10/10 would recommend this shop.
