The coffee chip cup I had hit the spot, and the rest of the family found flavors to pick out too. The setting and location clearly hit the mark. The service was ready and cheerful. The flavors are more “solidly compact” and emphasize taste than those that try for texture, novelty, or innovation. It’s old school in that sense and must be approached that way.

Its close to home and they offer what they call Mongrel Monday ... a free doggy sundae (vanilla softserve with a bone).I find the portions are sometimes smaller than other places, and flavors are limited at times, but we still go because its delicious ice cream!

Always great ice cream and friendly staff. They have been out of Oreo the past two times Ive been there, but moose tracks is a decent substitute! I do wish they were on some kind of delivery service :(

Stopped here after a long bike ride in Portland to grab something sweet. The best brownie sundae I have ever had! Great location and sitting area, great people and service, but prices are a little high. Still, I totally recommend this place to the ice cream lovers out there!

Stopped by on a Sunday evening. Parked along Veranda street without a problem and then got 3 of my son’s and myself ice cream cones. No complaints on our end! Flavors amongst the group: grasshopper (kind of a mint chocolate chip + Oreos), chocolate, black raspberry and banana cream pie; all great and great variety of cones to chose from. Very relaxing atmosphere and the staff was polite and fast, and kept the line moving without a feeling of inconvenience. Certainly will be back!

This place was great. Perfect little ice cream place with great flavors and happy charming staff. And it didn’t hurt that they had good parking.

They have so many great flavors, but I just love their teaberry ice cream & get it every time we visit! 🍦💕

Very good waffle cones! Many options at this emporium for fatties. The only thing that ruins the experience is the location. Nobody wants to sit on Veranda Street if they can avoid it.

Having ice cream at Beals Veranda Street stand is like stepping back in time....only better. The ice cream is rich and tasty, better than I even remember, with sundaes that dont skimp on the toppings, except there are WAY more flavors. And the servers handle the steady stream of happy customers with a smile.

THE COOKIE DOUGH IS JUST VANILLA!COMPLETE RIP OFF!Overpriced and plain with nothing in ice cream. 8 dollars for a frappe. Cost 12 dollars total for a kiddy scoop chocolate raspberry truffle and a cookie dough frappe. The cookie dough frappe had ZERO cookie dough pieces and the raspberry truffle had ZERO truffles. They were just chocolate and vanilla ice cream. I asked for a refund but was refused.Terrible customer service. Terrible ice cream.

Mount Desert Ice Cream is hands-down the best ice cream to be found in Portland.. unbelievable that this establishment would average 4.6 Stars that is a joke! Just went to buy a sundae for 6.51 and they demanded 7.32 claiming they changed the price. However the price listed on the board was 6.51 inducing tax. I think theyre trying to get some extra money for themselves. Watch how much they charge you. Doesnt seem honest.

Im giving this a 4 instead of a 5 for two reasons. First, its cash only. Second, my ice cream was twice as expensive as my husbands because as soon as I got outside a bird, flying overhead, crapped all over me and my cone. It sucked. So I had to get a new cone 😕. I do like that they make their waffle cones in house.

Its okay.. Nothing to write home about, the Beals on the way to Gorham is much much better.. I think the ice cream here sits much longer, and the one towards Gorham is where the make the ice cream.. Whatever it is tale the trip its worth it, save this location for a last resort.

I give beals 1 * because I asked for something specificbecause I dont have any teeth so theres certain Cones I can eat and certain I cant and I asked for a sugar cone in a dish with chocolate soft serve last year my husband and I went every single day almost and this time they said they cant put any soft serve in a sugar cone they gave me a cone I did not ask for and that I could not eat I told them before that I have no teeth and theyithey still gave me the wrong cone in a dish upset and very dissatisfied

I got a small cookie dough on a sugar cone and the scoop was almost taller than the cone, and it only cost about $4.50

Way over priced for such small portions. Medium peanut butter sundae for $7.20 and is in a tiny cup. Worst deal you can find.
