I’m always running in here 5 minutes before close to grab a last minute item because something in my 100+ year old home will break at the worst time. Despite how annoying I’m sure it is for them- the employees here are always so sweet and helpful! ❤️

I purchased a natural gas grill and because I’m a Rewards member the grill was assembled and delivered for free, while other stores charged $99 for assembly.When Julian delivered the grill on July 3, he also attempted to connect the natural gas line - only to discover we needed a few extra pieces of coupling to connect to the gas line. Instead of trying to explain what I needed, Julian went back to the store and got the necessary coupling and returned within the hour with a coworker to ensure the connection was done properly and that the grill performed well.Julian was committed to setting up my grill so I could use it for the holiday festivities!(The process was way more complicated than I anticipated and I’m certain I wouldn’t have been able to figure it out on my own.)I am so grateful for his kindness and dedication. I’m 65 years old and have not experienced this level of customer service for many years.Everyone involved at the store went out of their way to walk me through the online purchase over the phone: the manager matched the online sale price and an associate guided me through the online prompts (which were difficult for me to understand.)Ace Hardware on Broadway is an exceptional store and will be my first stop hardware store from now on!Blessings to Julian and everyone else involved!

Broadway Ace hardware is a very clean and neat store,I just had my great and loving cousin loan me some money for my new apt.room again thanks to the very nice Portland Oregon mental health unit police and my Mental health Nara Totem logde and all of the great staff at the golden west and I bought a very good and big #20 to inch fan for my room,The fan works great.Thanks to the very nice and polite employees at Ace hardware store.

Their layout seemed a little weird and it took me much longer than it should have to discover the little upstairs area (short staircase, dont recall seeing a ramp or anything for accessibility), but they have a pretty solid range in stock without being too overwhelming for those of us who can get distracted looking at All The Things. What stood out most, though, was the staff. They all seem pleasant, friendly, and happy to help, but without getting asked every few minutes if I need help. They also seem very personable and earnest when talking with them, and really put in an effort to help the customer even with little oopses. For example, on one visit, I noticed someone had left their giftcard at checkout, and when I pointed it out, they proceeded to try to figure out who it might belong to. Later on when I got home, I realized that I didnt have the main thing Id gone in for (just a simple item that wasnt even $10), but clearly recalled paying for it. I didnt get back until the following day and decided to ask before just grabbing and paying for another - and sure enough, they had it, with a note with my name and that Id already paid, and they really seemed delighted to get it to me.

Love it fixed my fob and was way cheaper than locksmith services by far try couple hundred.

Nothing bad to say! Customer service was great. Had to make a quick stop there as soon as they opened. And staffed was friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked through the door. As it is to expect due to the area this store is located in lots of things are locked up but staffed is quick to help you if you do need anything. Clean store, well stocked and maintained. Will definitely come back

Confusing store layout, but a good selection and good prices. The employee at the register made me feel kind of uncomfortable, and then damaged my items after I paid for them, didnt acknowledge it, and looked away and waited until I left. Not a good first impression of the store, and I dont plan to come back

Excellent selection. Big space. Friendly salesfolk. I was in there Sunday, July 11th looking for gloves and Jonah took time out of his restocking to show me where all the gloves were in the store. He even helped me comparison shop. Sales people like Jonah are why we’ll be back.

I went in today to get a few things. I was almost immediately approached by an employee who knew exactly what I was asking for and where those things were. He cut me some PVC pipe very quickly and I got everything I needed within 10 minutes. Excellent customer service.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff! They helped me choose the right product within my price range. It is my Go To store in Portland area for home improvements and other DIY projects.

First time to this location. Parking is short. Lucky to have found street parking near. The staff was helpful and the manager that helped by getting the product I came for was friendly and made sure I got what I wanted.

I love it being a nice small local hardware store I always find a nice plant to take home to plant in my yard. And they always have free popcorn the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly there is never a long line to wait in.

Worst ace in the nation. Only reason I came here was because it’s close but last 2 times the associates has rushed me out of the store because I showed up 5-10 min before closing for quick items. They also could not tell me the difference between the $250 drill and the $150 drill so needless to say I won’t be coming back. Attitude of employees is awful and they don’t know the slightest thing about the products they sell.

Had what I wanted but the staff had no idea where it was and that they were sold out anyway. NOT TRUE. While waiting at the checkout saw a display of just what I wanted. Disappointing!

Good stock, friendly staff, but beware of getting keys copied here. Mine were done incorrectly and I had to pay $65 for a locksmith. Now I need to drive an hour round trip to get them re-done with no additional store credit to help with the $65 I paid on a locksmith. Bummer.Update: Went back today and the manager, Chris, was awesome and understanding and resolved my issue.

Tons of stuff, helpful staff (I even witnessed, gasp, a no hassle return on my own behalf) and being a real price watcher, the Rough and Ready skill set that becoming a journeyman grocer will give to you, I can say without equivocation that the prices are lower on that side of the river Im comparing it to the Pearl Ace Hardware which is closer to me but significantly more expensive so tho I ride a bicycle I actually travel to the Broadway Ace, probably mmmm double the distance? They got my dollar thats truth

Super helpful staff! I needed something that was located on the second floor and within a minute of me walking in someone directed me to where I needed to walk! I love neighborhood hardware stores like these because it always feels like people care just a little bit more. Highly recommend!

Tried to go in with a backpack and was stopped to inform me that I must turn in my back pack but no one would tell me who is responsible for any thing or stolen if I turn it in and no one could point out where is this store policy located. I refused to give them my backpack which had $2000.00 of electronics and so a staff member walked around with me...I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT STORE...WOMEN I ASK YOU TO CARRY YOUR PURSE IN AND SEE IF THEY HAVE YOU TURN IN YOUR PURSE,. MY BACKPACK IS MY PURSE..

Maybe you ought to think about changing your outgoing phone message when you change your hours. Especially if that message says you are back to your normal pre-pandemic hours but you decide to close at 3pm anyway. Thanks for the wasted trip.

If your on a scooter or wheelchair its hard to get to the 2nd floor. You use the employees elevator and they have to stay with you until you go. Dont make it easy to look around . Cramped on the first floor.

I went in to pick up an online order and *stuff* was clearly hitting the fan when I walked in - someone wanting to call 911, a long line of people, a lady being rude and demanding to the cashiers about some small thing. I admired the staffs tenacity and kindness even in the middle of chaos, and appreciate that while they clearly had a lot going on, they still made sure I got my tiny little bag of potting soil.

Josh made my day, every time I give up and think there isn’t good people I get the chance to meet someone like him and I’m grateful. I hope anyone reading has a beautiful time and to go out and enjoy the rain

I worked on my car in the lot and they asked me if I needed any help and even let me borrow a few tools to get the job done. I stop by here about once a week for business supplies and the employees are always very helpful. You never have to hunt someone down to ask a question. Checking out with the cashier is a little on the slow side since they wipe everything down after EVERY transaction, but I dont mind waiting. I wish other stores would at least offer this cleaning service as an option.

Friend knocked his door off the wall and they stayed open late to help us get replacement screws. Employees are top tier ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

They will be delivering 3 heavy bags of concrete and pvc pieces to my apt ni 2 days! I am so excited! I saved TONS by walking in and asking if they would delivery, compared to going to home depoot or lowes ... like I did last time. They charge a ton for delivery! Josh at ACE hooked a brother up with a fair delivery fee! The other workers there today, the two younger ladies at the counter, and the one that got me my bag at the end, thank you! You are always a joy to make smile. Thanks. It really is nice to feel like part of a family. I am for sure a repeat customer here!

Helpful staff and lots of selection! Most of my praise does goes beyond my visit to the store, when I wanted to make a return of some items I purchased while in the Portland area. I was only in the area for a weekend and had to pick something up for a friend but it was the wrong item so I wanted to return it but couldnt do it before my trip back home. The Ace near me (not Broadway) didnt accept it and I contacted Broadway Ace hoping to see what I could do with the items I didnt need. Daniel, the general manager, was kind enough to help me and even went as far as calling my local Ace to see what can be done. Thanks to his amazing help I was able to make my return. Daniel was super patient and great to talk to. Thank you so much if you happen to be reading this, Daniel!

How to do a quick in and out for the course they had what I needed in a million times more places that still the same as what youd expect sis living store you could spend hours in with his different levels I didnt include one store star because they dont have plants at this one

If you have only been going to home Depot or lowes and others, I would suggest you go here instead. I just want to thank Victor at the Broadway store for being so helpful to me in finding the right filter. During the wildfire smoke problem in Portland I have had had difficulty breathing with my asthma, and my filter needed to be replaced at home....but everywhere in the state was sold out. Victor went out of his way to let me know what they had in stock, even though it wasnt showing up on the Website since the truck had just come in, and was super kind on the phone with me. When I got to the store, he and the other associate noticed that I was wearing a bad mask and, knowing I had asthma, told me they had just gotten in a new shipment of N95 masks and I should probably be wearing one of them....so I bought some of those too! I had simply quit even asking about N95 masks because for so long it was useless to even try and find one. Thank you so much! Great team at this store.

Super lame experience. I had to search for help when few customers were in the store. The woman at the front counter wouldnt answer my question, just told me someone could help in back. Worst ace I have been to in Portland. I will go out of my way to go elsewhere now.

Its a little hard to navigate, and the aisle signs certainly help. I will say they didnt have a few things I wanted, like plastic spring pins for my window screens. If you dont go to the back, its easy to miss the mezzanine floor to the left.

I regularly shop here as I prefer it over the larger stores so I know this is not SOP for the store. I assume it was just three stoned teenagers running the store on a Saturday night

Great, helpful staff AND they will mix paint in sample sizes. They have enough staff on hand to help vs standing around looking for an available staff person. The service makes this store number one great.

Good selection, knowledgeable and attentive staff, clean, well-organized, convenient location, drawers and drawers of those fussy little widgets you need to fix whatever gizmo youve got on the fritz, no dodging forktrucks while youre hunting for an orange apron for help. What could be better? It was a rhetorical question, but since you asked: the check out process mandated by store policy since Covid keeps me and the employees healthy. I understand. However, I think that it has, from time to time, had the effect of making them and me a little brusque, bordering on surly. But maybe Im overly sensitive. And parking can be challenging at peak hours. But patience: the efficiencies of the staff, capacious inventory, and store layout will have those customers back out to their cars in a jiffy.

This Ace is my go to hardware store. Its centrally located, well stocked, and the staff are always helpful and friendly. They can supply you with most things that the big box stores can, so stop by Ace before you drive all the way out to Hayden island.
