PFI is great! Ive taken two classes (textiles and basic sewing), and I have a much better understanding of fabric and basic sewing skills. The teachers are knowledgeable, professional, and responsive. Highly recommend!

I took an intensive course here a while back and I learned so much! Its a small area so lessons are very one on one. Ill definitely be taking more classes here.

I totally trust and enjoy Portland Sewing. Sharon Blair and the professional atmosphere at Portland Sewing are the real deal of fit and fashion. Ive sewn for 50 years but since taking, sewing 1, 2, 3, pattern making and many other classes, I sew to look store bought instead of hand made.Portland Sewing is my friend and support system.

If you are looking for a school that will teach you how to succeed in the apparel business, this is it. Courses include concept-to-execution of a line, almost every aspect of making apparel, plus the business management side of the industry (marketing, sourcing, costing, etc).Individual classes in textiles, color theory, Adobe Illustrator, design, pattern making, industrial sewing and knitting - its all here. Plus the director and the instructors know everyone in town, and teach you how to make connections in a professional and gracious manner. That in itself is worth every penny spent. But dont be intimidated - PFI calibrates itself well to whatever level you are looking for in a class. If you are just looking for a bit of help with your sewing or creative skills, this is also the place to be. You can take classes a la carte to hone your skills. The teachers here are seasoned apparel professionals, and they will work you hard, if you are serious. If you are focused and really want to learn, they take note, and try to get the best performance out of you as a student. If you put the effort in (and it can be a lot of work), you will come out ready to enter the workforce just about anywhere. There is an advanced program called Fashion Forward for design students who want to launch their own line, which is amazing to observe. Talk about inspiring.PFI pushed me hard and I had a lot of late nights, and it was totally worth it. The skills Ive gained are so valuable. I cant wait to go back to tackle some new skills.
