I know many of people, a lot of them homeless. That have gotten a good hot meal here, just have to volunteer, couple hours. With the way the pandemic is, and was. They were a mainstay, through it all. It is good to have caring people, that can provide a good hot meal, it the winter, to these unfortunate souls, great humane job Sisters!!

Good alternative place to eat. Awesome perspective on community. The share plan works great here, people can help out for a free meal or use their own food stamps to get a punch card or just use your cash. They usually have 3 main option for each meal with several option to combine with it. Must go in to make reservation n be back in time for it (I think you can call for reservation too) and some homeless people (acceptable ones) prefer this place because of restaurant atmosphere, menu options and cheap prices.

Always full of folks who care and are willing to meet you where youre at. Good food and great programs. Sisters has been such a big part of the Portland community and has worked with other groups in Portland and elsewhere to help work towards sustainable and long term solutions.Im so impressed by everything behind the scenes. There is such a high level of conscientious care that goes into everything they do.

Make reservations in person at around 10am. They fill quickly. Once you have a reservation you can arrive at your scheduled time or anytime thereafter until closing. Food is always fresh and delicious. Their homemade ranch dressing is amazing and I love their cornbread. Ive never had one dish I didnt thoroughly enjoy! Service is friendly and cheerful. All this for only $1.25 a plate. Remember they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

This is a non traditional cafe. It was begun by the Catholic Social Worker Movement in the 1970s to address the needs of elderly, disabled, and poor, to have an excellent meal, made with fresh local meats, vegetables, and other food stuffs whenever possible. The taste, texture, and quality of the food is high. It helps people keep their self respect, as a meal may be purchased by bartering 30 min of work, doing mostly simple tasks, paying in cash or federally approved hot meal purchase of about $1.25. The ambiance is not fancy, but humble. It is set up for the primary clientele of the partially, or unhoused population, seniors, disabled on fixed incomes, they will NOT let you starve, if you are unable to barter or pay, speak to staff as many volunteers offer to help others with their extra points. One has to walk in, reserve a time slot, and then return at that time, to control the crowds/lines, and assure adequate food for the 100 or so diners per day. Even if you are not poor, I recommend this as excellent food, and tour in the day of humility of our vulnerable populations. Financial donations are always welcome, and in the main office people may buy tickets in advance for when they are asked by beggars for money for food, one can hand them a meal pass instead. No where else in town can you get a balanced meal, that tastes and looks great, as well as being fresh, local, and served with dignity for $1,25!!!!

Very good, healthy food. Can do chores around the cafe for a meal or pay cash or even with SNAP(food stamps) It is $1.25 for meal and $.25 for each drink or side added. 15 minutes of chores covers 1 meal, sometimes 2. FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN EAT FREE AND DONT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE OR GET TIME SLOT! JUST WALK IN, SIT DOWN, AND ORDER!! Theres an enclosed play area with lots of toys for the children as well.

I cant say in words how near to my heart this place is. 3 years ago i was homeless and i volunteered there for my meals. Being homeless is a very hard thing and theres little or no joy in it but this place, being a part of the team and serving meals or just pouring coffee made me feel human again. I could see other homeless people just come to life when they were working there as well. Its a God sent. Thank you Shorty and all the main workers there for letting me be a part of this. You all made me smile when my life was at its lowest point.

Great place to have a meal if your running low on funds or just homeless and hungry. Meals are a $1.25 and drinks are $0.25, also condemets are $0.25- $0.50. They open up the doors at 9:00am for time slots, they close at 3:00pm. First time slot is available at 10:00am and every half hour is another time slot, so on and so on until 2:00pm or 2:30pm. If its your first time, just let them know that its your first time to visit the establishment, and your first meal is for free. Anyone is welcome, but no drugs or alcohol in or near the establishment of Sisters of the Road. Otherwise youll be asked to leave the premises.

Sisters of the road is so awesome. A full meal is a 1.25. You can use a food stamp card to purchase your meal, or volunteer and earn meal tickets. But I would say its not for everyone as there are a lot of homeless there. Some may not be OK with that. But I love it. Coffee is only 25 cents for a cup and a refill. Awesome

It is a small restaurant in a corner building. A lot of the people from the neighborhood come to eat here. The food is very inexpensive and good. You can feed 5 people for right around 7-8 dallors. Smoking allowed outside. Yellow line runs right by it. Oh if it is your first visit to sisters of the road your meal is free

I have both positive and negative feedback. First of all, the one time Ive eaten there, the food was excellent, and the service was very courteous and friendly. However, I have been to this location a total of nine times, and Ive only been able to eat there once. They are simply too busy, filled with people, and there isnt enough hours in the day or days of the week that they are open to serve the community. I dont suggest going out of your way to eat here, especially if you are hungry or unable to show up very early and wait for the possibility of an available time slot.

The food is homemade and healthy. Sisters sources a lot of food locally and make every plate with love. A hot meal and a drink can be purchased for $1.50, SNAP benefits or barter credit in exchange for helping out in the Cafe! Sisters is a space to connect with others, build community and be yourself.

This place does a terrific job in feeding the community. You can get a delicious meal from their menu for approximately $1.50 and if you want extra side dishes it cost as little as 0.25 to 0.50 each. If you have no money you can volunteer as little as an half an hour or more to earn a meal ticket(s). You can volunteer to clean & bust table, be a server, clean bathrooms, etc. The down side -- you have to sign up for a meal starting at around 10:00am and ending when they run out of time slots. The other down side some of the people arent that pleasant to eat around. All that being said, this is the best place Ive found to get a hearty, delicious meal dirt cheap during the week days. Unfortunately, its close on the weekends. Peace Out✌
