Ordered my books 5 days ago ($300) and the payment hasn’t even processed. I’m definitely not going to have my books in time for the start of the term. Must order books a month or two in advance I guess. The community college I previously attended was very prompt about textbook orders, and also offered refunds for rentals.

Its disheartening that this public university bookstore is charging a exorbitant amount for textbooks. Even if you happen to rent a textbook it is just 50% of how much it would cost to buy the new version. Unfortunately when you return the rental in good condition there is no reimbursement at all! Im extremely surprised that this bookstore only allows those with Veterans Administration, Oregon Trade Act, or another similar agency. Why wouldnt you allow struggling college students to use their FAFSA?!? This bookstore is also partnered with Barns & Noble so you know they are all about PROFIT. I hope they change their business model and take notes from how PCC (Portland Community College) operates.

Have always loved this place. The staff recommendation shelf is my favorite. I love that I can locate my favorite book and find four used versions with four different covers. Theres a good autographed section. Theyve got magazines and all the lit journals. One of the best bookstores in the world!

Has some neat stuff if youre looking for knick knacks like quality pens, paper types, school essentials. They carry Roaring Springs engineering paper which is the best quality engineering on the market so Im in the bookstore once or twice a term for that.

My second all time favorite bookstore in the US (its hard to beat Powells City of Books in Portland, OR). Amazing selection of full priced, as well as bargain books over multiples levels. Enjoyed a delightful selection of local gifts including postcards and apparel at lower prices than neighboring shops. Sincerely plan to make this a must on future trips to Massachusetts.

Love Portland State University Bookstore! First of all, its not Borders or B&N. Second, theyve also got lots of fun gift stuff and cards.I havent spent a ton of time here because Im not in Coolidge Corner all that often, but I love going here when I am in the area.I really cant say much more than whats already been said. Theyre a great independent bookseller. Great displays, fun gifts, and a local business. What more can you ask for?

This bookstore is great! Friendly, attentive staff, comfy environment, conveniently located! I never feel ignored or unwanted here, and everyone is helpful and genuinely pleasant and want to assist you as best they can! Only reason it isnt a full 5 stars is the website I find very difficult and can never seem to reserve things on, and sometimes they dont get all my books by the beginning of the term. However, they are quick to remedy difficult situations and help you navigate the shelves. Special mention to Tamarsh, who has been excellent in his service.

Its a typical college bookstore. Youll pay $180 for a book then theyll give you $13.55 to buy it back. And you only have 2 days to return items after the session starts to get a refund. If you live outside Portland and you cant get down there your just screwed out of whatever money you paid.

Book prices are always too high. Price match is good, if a bit finicky with who they match with. The service connection in the basement is terrible, it took me a like 15 minutes to load the list of books I needed.

My favorite bookstore ever. I could spend hours browsing through all the books on any given day but never have to because the staff recommendations are always excellent. This is my first stop whenever I need a unique fun gift or a silly birthday card.

St
Review №18

As now an infrequent visitor (no longer a student), the direction of late is more focused on strictly textbooks required for classes. There is no longer a general interest books area. All the textbooks are arranged alphabetically, so no more easy perusing your general field of study for potential new books of interest. Im sure you can still special order a book if you know what you want. No longer a bookstore for shopping, unless you want PSU logo garments.

Review №20

I understand why theres a textbook return cut-off date, but its ridiculous that theres not a system in place for people who purchase a textbook after that date has passed. I called 4 days after I purchased a book, before Id even opened it, to see if you would match an online competitors price (as your Best Price Promise clearly states you do). I didnt even want to return the book; I just wanted a portion of what I paid refunded to match the better price I found, but your associate said it couldnt be done. Youve lost the next 4 years of my business just so you could keep my $15 now. This is the exact opposite of good customer service, and such pointless policies will cost you business in the future.

Only open 9-5 m-f just 3 weeks before the term starts. I have a job in those hours! In past terms I have found that the book I am required to have for a class has not yet arrived and I fall behind on reading or assignments. As with much of PSU, the system is inefficient and inconsiderate of the students.

Review №33

Books here are far too expensive, even if renting. Also, assuming a purchased textbook is eligible to be bought back by the bookstore at all, the rates are laughable (so far Ive had 1 in 5 textbooks bought back for a whopping $5). I suggest checking Powells or eBay, or see about renting through Amazon, first.
