These guys rule. Not only are they expect mechanics, but I appreciate the extra time they put in to make sure your ride is dialed, all the way. In the few times Ive brought my bike to them, theyve explain the how and why of the problem / fix, better and with more patience than any shop Ive ever experienced. Great attitudes to boot. Cant say enough good things about these folks.

Came to the store a few minutes before close a night before a triathlon. My disc wheel freehub was jamming pretty badly and CSC was the only bike store open that late. Despite having loads of work to do, the man working at the time took fixed the problem for an exceptionally reasonable price. Dude is a miracle worker and was very nice to me despite my lack of knowledge and the urgency of my request.

10/10 would patronize again. These cats do fine work. They walked me through a new 650b wheelset for my 2019 Cannondale Topstone every step of the way. Offered clear and concise advice on tire choice, wheel options, cassettes and disc brakes. Im now stoked to be riding a bike that has two wheel sets that are a perfect 1 for 1 swap. Great customer service, sound mechanical work and plenty of experience with various bikes and bike parts!

I was riding through the neighborhood last weekend when I popped a spoke on my bike. This shop was nearby so I stopped by for a quick 20 min spoke replacement. It would have been a standard super easy repair.I knocked and waited out front for some assistance when I was greeted by an incredibly rude staff member. He told me he could schedule something and laughed at me for thinking they could fix it real quick. Ended up scrambling to find a ride instead. Horrible customer service.Do not stop here when you need something quick!

One of the friendliest most reasonable bike shops in town. I was in the middle of my first bike build, and I took my frame to various shops looking for some advice. Most shops scoffed at me with little advice. Not cat six. They seemed interested in my project, and asked me questions about the frame that other shops didn’t even bother to acknowledge. They will receive 100% of my business from gear on out ! Thank you.

I purchased a Masi commuter from the store a few weeks ago and was so glad I walked into this shop. Kirk took the time to get me on several bikes so I could really get a feel for what is out there. Both owners were happy to share their cycling knowledge and take the time to find a bike that suits my needs. I highly recommend Cat Six to anyone that is looking to purchase an urban commuter bike from and honest and passionate local bike shop.

I don’t think I’ll be able to say enough good things about Cat Six in just a review. You all come highly recommended. They took my needs and exceeded them as a year around biker. Kirk and Tim run a great shop that is like a welcoming and tidy living/rec room, while putting up with my dumb questions and fixing my forays into diy bike maintenance. Their service is prompt and they are honest about what you actually need (or don’t) to spend money on fixing or replacing. I haven’t had a chance to buy a bike from them yet, but they have a great selection of steel whips for city cruising/gravel touring/bike camping/roading. There is also a really unique selection of accessories like stuff from Hunter Cycles and other things you won’t find at most shops. Also... Rockets and Steve.

I spent half a day here trying to find the right bike to fit me. Took half a dozen bikes out for a test ride around the block and let the owners know I was going to a couple of other bike shops in Portland to make the most informed decision. I got nowhere close to the level of service I got here at Cat Six, so I came back and bought the bike Tim and Kirk recommended. 6 months later I am still extremely pleased with my purchase. The bike feels like it was made to fit me due to the adjustments Kirk made at the shop. I only wish I didnt live almost an hour away as I would frequent this place more if it were close to my house. The owners are patient, knowledgeable, and, down to earth. Recommend Recommend Recommend!

Like going back in time. Remember when you would walk into a store and be greeted instantly and then given all the one on one attention you could ask for? That is Cat Six. Tim had us ride a variety of bikes to narrow it down to one manufacturer then he swapped out handle bars and grips to get the best posture & comfort then on to different seats until the bike felt as though it was made specifically for you. The process took over 2 hours and when we left both Myself and My wife left with bikes that fit us perfectly because of the knowledge and time these guys will spend with you. Stop by and give them a try, you wont be sorry!

Easily the best service of any shop in Portland. Kirk and Jon are always willing to help in what ever way they can, they give straight honest advice and do impeccable work. Dont confuse this with a regular commuter bike shop, Kirk knows his stuff and can build-up and service anything from cargo bikes to custom performance road bikes. They have a good selection of sensible bikes that other shops dont, will always go the extra mile to help you get what you need and will help you understand/teach you what it is they are doing. I can not recommend them enough.

I went into Cat Six Cycles for the first time yesterday and Im already impressed. As a woman who has done some bike mechanics in the past, Im highly sensitive to shops that are over-masculine and presumptive when a woman walks in. The human that I talked to, was respectful, thoughtful, and informative, without assuming that I had no knowledge of mechanics. Better yet, its my neighborhood bike shop. Thumbs up!

Bought a bike here a few weeks ago, and both Kirt and Tim have been incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful throughout that process and after. Even after I bought the bike, theyve spent hours making sure everything is the right fit and works with my particular uses of my new mode of transportation. They obviously stand squarely behind their products and service and clearly see themselves as not just another business, but as community members providing a necessary service to their neighbors. I give them the highest rating possible, and recommend them for all kinds of bike-related needs. Kudos!

Just recently bought a Fuji touring bike at Cat Six and couldnt be happier. It is seldom that you find a shop that combines great products with excellent mechanics. I have been using them a year or two now. They do my minor maintenance, and they have done major overhauls on my commuter bike. I trust them to do what needs to be done on the little stuff, and they give me a range of options on bigger jobs. Their work is very good, prices are reasonable, they are friendly, and they do all of this without any bike shop attitude which you will eventually run into at the big shops.

It would be an understatement to say that this is the friendliest bike shop I have ever been to. I noticed this new bike shop in my neighborhood. My beloved road bike had a cracked frame, and I was looking for someone to give me some guidance with finding a replacement frame. The guys at Cat Six didnt just do that, they scoured their contacts to try to make good on the bikes warranty which I had long since lost. They ultimately were able to replace my cracked frame with an awesome new frame, completely rebuild the bike, and give me a custom fit for much less dough then I originally thought it would cost me. In my opinion they went above and beyond what was expected of them.

Great service, great price! I came here to get the tires replaced on my disabled dogs stroller. Instead of just taking my money, the guy who helped me (I dont remember his name) checked the tires and told me that they actually still had lots of tread on them, and that the loss of air was normal, not caused by any damage to the tire. He filled up the tires, and did a simple fix where one of the wheels would not stay on properly. When I asked him what I owed, he said nothing, just write a review! So here I am! I will use this place again when the tires really do need to be replaced.

Im feeling ultra lucky I brought my bike into Cat Six today: My bike is a recently inherited, very old gal I knew 0 about, with the exception she has a decent steel frame. I was hopeful I could fix her into the custom bike of my dreams. Jonathan gave her a thorough going over all the while explaining who she is (a well-worn 1970s Raleigh) and gently laid down the news that shes seen better days & that my time, money, & soul might be better spent on another old gal. While the news was sad, I cant thank them enough for their straight forward honesty, kindness, thoroughness, & patience to take the time to deal with me & set me off in the right direction. Ill be bugging them again soon. And before I forget, I also want to hang out in their shop all day just to cuddle with their polydactyl kitten, Steve!

Need to chime in about this place...Im hoping to spread the word on how pleasant my experience has been with Cat Six.So, Im new to Portland, and just working here for the summer. Longer story shorter, I needed a bike to get around. So, I stopped into this place to see if they sold used bikes, which they dont. Instead of just sending me on my way, Jonathan was cool enough to re-direct me to the Community Cycling Center, for a used bike.Once I got my bike, I came back to Cat Six cycles for some repairs on my new (used) bike. I figured Id like to help them out as they helped me out. These guys were great. I cant underscore that enough.Again, Im new to the area, but I know there are lots of bike shops around. I felt completely comfortable talking with Jonathan about what I thought I needed. He could not have created a more inclusive environment. And the work they did on my bike, was top notch. I popped in at 11am today, and they were able to get to my bike and have it ready by early afternoon. I guess Kirk worked on it, and the bike operates smooth as butter now. Kirk even went the extra mile to configure my break handles in a more ergonomic position. I appreciate this so much! This is a great example to the attention to detail I felt compelled to yelp about. I will trumpet my personal experience to everyone, and send each and every person I meet back to this shop.Lastly, thanks Jonathan and Kirk. Your professionalism and dedication to your craft has not gone unnoticed.-Matt

I stopped in on my search for a new bike. I was looking to transition from a road(i.e. too stiff) bike to something more comfortable to use communiting/weekend rides/ and around town. The guys at Catsix really took their time explaining some of the different bikes they had, but most importantly emphasized the correct fit—even if that meant not purchasing from them. I test rode different models and returned 3 different times prior to purchase. I visited other shops in PDX, but I really liked the personalized service this place offered. It’s been 4 months since my purchase and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been back to get some free fit adjustments done too. This is a gem of a local bike shop.
