Not a better place to start a summer evening than this southeast Portland (mostly outdoor) bar. Theres a huge selection of beer on tap, as well as a few ciders. The outdoor tables encourage conversation with friends that you come with and those you meet here. The experience is even better now that they take debit/credit cards.There are several pinball tables to enjoy, too.

Excellent selection of beers. I love the large outdoors area under umbrellas, and can bring in food from multiple take aways near by. Staff helpful with the large selection of beers.

Terrible experience. I checked the website to ensure they were open during COVID. I even called to ensure everything was cool. No mention that you need to produce your vaccine card??? I am fully vaccinated and was wearing a mask. Bartender was obnoxiously rude when I tried to explain. They could have warned me before I drive 45 minutes without my cars. Inexcusable. Will NEVER go back ever.

Awesome beer selection, friendly staff, great ambiance, and they are doing everything to keep the patrons, employees,and immediate community safe. Masks are required unless you are seated at the tables , which are very spread out. They allow outside food in too. Come on down and share a beer with your friends, pet the friendly dogs and enjoy the misters on these hot days!

Great selection of taps. I asked if hey could put hockey on one of the TVs, apparently they have a strict ‘no hockey’ policy. House rules. But NBA and MLS are ok to watch.

Highly recommend this place. Fantastic beer bar with an absolutely excellent selection of brews. A must stop for me every time I visit Portland. The staff is very knowledgeable about the beers they are serving and the local beer scene in general. Very nice patio for sitting and sipping on those rare nice days in Portland.

Not sure what the vibes typically are in here, but i came in here at 2am because i kissed the bus and the next one wasn’t coming for a few minutes. the bartender told me i could only stay if i bought something and it just seemed like a weird time to do that when there are only 2 others in your bar. i get the principle but jeez, if you’re a lady alone at 2 am trust the bartender here will send you away and not even let you sit outside lol.

We had some great IPAs and ciders at Apex. We had the smaller 6 oz. Which allowed us to try various brews/flavors. Tender were polite, friendly, and knowledge.

A couple of disclaimers here: this bar has no hard liquor and is cash only. I tend to order beer and pay in cash anyway so this worked out great! As far as the bar, I was pretty impressed with the tap list available. Higher ABV beers are available in smaller portions for right standard prices which I appreciated. The Dark Star coffee Stout I tried was particularly good. Beside the beer, seating was comfortable and spacious. Its a well lit social space to hang out with friends and explore some high quality brews at a reasonable price.

APEX is a cash only pub with one of the best beer lists in the city. High recommend for beer nerds. Nice patio too, but leave kids and dogs at home. It’s just for adults and Waffles, the cat.

I absolutely love this place! They always have to best selection of brew. The atmosphere is great and they always play the best music. They have several bathrooms so it’s rare you have to wait. They have a couple of pinball machines too which is nice. It’s cash only so just keep that in mind but they have a atm just in case.

Horrible place. Wanted to relax and enjoy some conversation and beer with my brother. They have large wooden outdoor picnic tables. I sipped my beer contently sitting comfortably on top of the table while conversing with my brother who sat on the bench. Then the bartender walks up to me and scolds me saying, Hey why dont you sit on the seat like God intended. I went up and asked him what was the issue and he said something along the lines of not wanting that kind of image. I dont know what kind of image he was talking about. Relaxed and enjoying the company of family? Who knows. Never going back to this place again. They also charge $1 to see if you like any of their beers on tap. And theyre cash only but conveniently have a 3rd party ATM they make money off of.

I will not return to Apex. First, my friends and I love happy hour. They do not have a happy hour. Instead, the high prices are all day. Second, there is no food. Third, the Mexican place next door is so bad the food is nearly inedible. Fourth, Apex forces you to adjust your take-out plate/utensils from the Mexican place so that its pretty much no fun to eat. Yes, they do have many different beers. But there is more to going out than the drink. We wont return. There are many competitors on Division with a good beer selection with food and a happy hour.

I tried very hard to like this place. They have a great beer selection and on the surface should be a great bottle shop. However their staff has been beyond rude the four times I have been in. The last straw came when a bartender yelled at my friend for being drunk. He was in fact very very sober, but does have a speech impediment. The bartender went from calm to psychotic in half a second. If you think someone has had too much to drink you calmly question them first.. and it is not that hard to notice a speech impediment!! You cant make this up.In general the staff is always rude and pretentious. They are also cash only which is unnecessary this day in age and a scam. I would highly recommend Beer Mongers across the street. Amazing staff there!

Apex is a pretty great spot if you want some beers or cider. Good selection of cider and beer. Pinball. I imagine the outdoor seating is nice for the brief moments of sunshine.A couple small complaints.CASH ONLY.And there is this weird pipe along the wall that drips condensation on their patrons. Pretty gross but solved pretty easily by not sitting right next to that wall.

Best beer selection in town and they magically always have my favorites on tap. Friendly bartenders and extra large outdoor seating area. Bonus points for being so motorcyclist-friendly! Motorbike parking in front and world championship racing on the TV. Cant be beat!

Its one beer, not a life changing decision.

Beer is excellent, menu is impressive, service is not so great. Strong passive aggressive vibes coming from behind the bar. I would still highly recommend checking this place out regardless of the vibes though because the beer really is just that good.

This place is perfect to spend a cool Portland evening with friends. Lots of different beers on tap. They do not provide food but bringing outside food in is totally acceptable. Very relaxed atmosphere.

I think the reason why I like APEX so much is because we end up there all the time after other bars are closed. The have a plenty of sitting areas, and a nice patio. The beer selection is great, and even though they dont have food there, they allow you to bring in food from outside. 21+ great place to have a beer and hang out.

So if you plan on coming here you can see what is available and what is already tapped out before you go. The only bad thing is they only take cash. CASH ONLY. They dont have a food menu but theres a Mexican restaurant and double dragon next door. You can get your food there and bring it over to apex.

I had a great experience at Apex with some friends and family. They have a huge selection of beers on draft and lots of outdoor seating.There is no wait service, which works really efficiently. You simply go to the bar to place your order. THEY ARE CASH ONLY, but they do have an ATM on site.I also dont think they have food. This is a really fun place to grab some beers or ciders with friends.

Fun place. They serve mostly beer, and a little wine (which comes in cute little bottle things). The atmosphere is chill, and they let you bring in outside food. Los Gorditos, the Mexican place next door, will deliver over the fence and I highly recommend you try their delicious food. A good spot to camp out and play some pinball (theirs) or some board games (yours).

Great place.When its busy, know what you want and belly up to the bar, dont make a line. When its slow the bartenders have all been more than happy to elaborate on whats new or what you might like. Last time I went to APEX Tool was playing, the sun was out, and Pliny the Younger was on tap. Made this a hard place to beat. Plenty of outdoor seating but not as much inside, so its definitely the type of place that probably gets packed in the winter months. Always remember that its a cash only bar though. One great loophole though, if you have a checking account that refunds your ATM fees get cash at their location then show your receipt from that ATM and you get a dollar off your first beer!

Fun spot to come and kick back with a few afternoon beers - especially if youre trying to balance out the caffeine buzz from the nearby Stumptown Coffee Roasters tour. Good start to heading east along SE Division.

Went here on a Friday evening around 7PM when the weather was nice and it was packed. Seating is hard to come by at peak hours like this but thinned out around 9PM. The bar tenders are not great, charging more than the posted beer prices and the female bartender was super unfriendly.Apex is hipster central so hopefully youre looking for that, otherwise Id pick another place. Good beer selection and outdoor seating make it a good place for a quick drink but it is packed and very loud. If the service were friendlier and they didnt rip me off on my beer price I might have enjoyed it more.

I walked in here without reading any reviews first or otherwise researching it. So part of my dislike comes from simply not knowing what to expect. Had no idea it was cash only, and that was a bit of a surprise in this modern age. The beer selection was indeed mighty, both on draft and bottled in the beer coolers...but they had no lemon, lime, or orange to garnish my beer (no food license also means no ice for my water on a hot day). I wasnt a fan of what the bartender recommended and let me sample, and felt like she had no idea what kind of flavor profile I was describing. The drinks definitely seemed overpriced. The patio was spacious, but I was told dogs arent allowed. The pinball looked cool (Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead were included in the lineup), but you might need some luck to get to play one when the place is busy.Overall, this place was a confusing disappointment, and I probably wont be back.
