Well organized Asian market with dry goods, canned goods, condiments, noodles, tea (including Thai tea), frozen food and produce. Looks a lot like an Asian market you would find in a Chinatown, or in Honolulu. A lot of items did not have visible prices. Store has a parking lot.

The best Asian market Ive found in the area. Not only do they have a wide variety of nonperishables such as spices and sauces, theyre one of the few markets up here that offers freshly prepared food such as wide rice noodles and roast pork. They have a pretty decent selection of fresh fish as well. Its certainly not the best Asian market Ive been to but for Maine its pretty solid.

Great grocery store. Friendly staff. Good selection of products; but not consistent in keeping certain items stocked: personally, use to purchase the Sour & Sweet Hi-Chew from this store.. but the last few times Ive come for groceries, that particular item was not in stock. But overall great place.

Per usual, you can get your Asian ingredients and spices that you cannot get elsewhere. Prices are a bit more than where I’m from. However what gets me is that nothing is priced. Instead of just hanging around, I don’t think it would hurt to put in some work and label the items.

This Asian store on Forest Ave is very accessible and has plenty of parking. The store itself is very clean and is well stocked. You can find just about anything Asian related here from fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, seafood (mackerel, squid, pompano, and even fresh bangus). And yes, they will gladly clean your fish for you at no extra charge.

Drove 40 min round trip, to 2 staff members closing 10 minutes early unannounced, and they did not seem to care. Never going back, suggest the same. Vientiane Market is more reliable.

Produce is cheaper than a standard grocery store, as is rice, by a lot. It also is the biggest Asian market near by, and it has a parking lot. Any one of these things would make me shop there, but all together make me a frequent customer.

Very well assorted relatively small store, but oh my, they have a lot of stuff, fresh meat, fish and vegetables, dried, frozen, bottled, canned and bagged anything; not to mention their cookware and utensils and sauces.Highly recommended for anyone looking to cook something different than typical foods, unless you’re of Asian descent, of course 😀

I come here for the chili paste which is absolutely addictive on rice, ramen or noodles. The pork buns are really good and the roast duck is decent considering its moderate price. They also have a good selection of fish, produce, bowls, chopsticks and other cutlery. The produce is very low priced and the snack section is good for finding something odd to give as a gift or amuse a party ( think spicy squid flavored chips or spicy seaweed (nori) or dried fish for snacking)

I made a comment to the clerk that it would be nice to have prices on their goods. It is a hassle to be going back and forth asking for prices of certain items. He’s been working for 2 weeks and it boggles my mind how a person remembers the prices of each items. While we were talking he was ringing up my items and I found out when I got home that he charged me 5 x for a single crab chips.

Having spent 18 years in the Asian epicenter, Flushing (Queens), NY, I have an appreciation for Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese provisions. This food products location offers a nice selection to the Greater Portland community. I like the persimmons when they are available. Kim Chi is decently priced. Sesame balls and pork buns (baos) are a nice occasional treat. Many other products to select including some of the canned exotic fruits of Thailand. The staff is very industrious but pleasant when engaged.

We normally love this place and would make special trips when we were around forest ave but the last few times we went the short-haired older woman that we tried to get help from was extremely rude and very short with us.Thinking it might have been a bad day I asked one of my asian friends that goes there pretty frequently and she has ran into her as well and stopped going there altogether, preferring sun and hong kong market purely because of this womans attitude. As for the store itself it has a great selection of things you cant easily find other places, awesome sesame balls when they were making them pre-covid, and an overall awesome experience. My advice to the store is dont have this woman helping customers or talk to her about having a better attitude towards the people frequenting the store. It might be because we are in Maine and rude people are somewhat jarring compared to elsewhere but you are losing customers because of a poor attitude when everything else is great.

This place is ok, has a decent selection of mostly Chinese based foods, some Korean and Thai, but they are pretty rude if you are looking/asking for Japanese ingredients. Once we went in looking for Umeboshi and got the whats that response, but they were at least helpful to look for something similar, a Chinese plum sauce, not pickled but still yummy. Last time we went asking for Kamaboko, and the guy working said whats that, we offered, Narutomaki, surimi, you know, the steamed fish cakes for ramen and one guy working there said it sounded like we were just making up words and the other said is that Japanese? Laughed and said no we dont have that. Definitely feel the bias there.

I love this grocery store, but I have been very disappointed at the lack of precautions for Covid-19. There is no cleaning of carts and baskets, no plexiglass protection for the cashier, and distancing is hit-or-miss depending on the customers. When I walked in last week, there were 5 or so people crowded around the cashiers counter. Im not sure I can come back until I see more is being done to keep both customers and employees safe.

I have been in this store three times in recent weeks. So far, they are NOT setting up anything for proper social distancing....no specific notices, no limiting the number of people inside at one time, no making people wear masks. This is a very tiny store, but they are NOT taking proper precautions during the pandemic. Additionally, I purchased bags of shallots from them twice, and both times the shallots were all moldy and rotted. If you go in this shop, do so at your own risk and dont buy the shallots -- overpriced and rotted!

Not only are the items overpriced, the old lady working there was extremely rude. She told me to remove my items off her counter when I was ready to check out because she states, “my store is very busy.” She wasn’t even at her counter when we were waiting to be checked out and I went looking for a cashier. My boyfriend and I were the only ones in the store at that time. When she realized we were ready, she finally checked us out and proceeded to try and sell us sandwiches. I will never go there again.

I have shopped Veranda Asian Market for the past 4 months and I just love it! I am an American, and that is important in this writing. We need to welcome the Asian Market here in Maine. I have another home in Minnesota, t There are many things I do not know and want to know in my journey, and the staff at this market are not just well informed but so wanting to help you with your purchases and recipes. With that said the head on shrimp are OUTSTANDING AT $8.95 a pound.. You loose if you dont give it a try. What an OVERDUE welcomed asset to Portland Maine both in their recognition of and their support of our Asian diversity in the Community of Portland, and in the State of Maine.
