Shops like the Gun Room are getting harder and harder to find. Great selection of older rifles, which is why I visited, but they also stock a nice selection of newer firearms if thats what you need. Friendly and courteous staff. I found and bought a box of vintage Norma ammo just to remember my visit. Stop by and visit these guys. Its worth it.

So fun to visit about all things Fishing, Hunting, Boating, Racing, Guns, and the great NW. If my dad owned a Gun Shop, he wouldve have wanted it just like this one! Quality product that they stand behind, excellent knowledge-base especially visiting with Warren [Dad/Grandpa]. Im new to gun collecting. Next time, Im videoing him because I only captured about 10% of what he was explaining, lol.

Terrible prices and poor service, everything marked up at the very least 200% more than it should be, even with prices dropping all across the board. I came in just to see if the bad reviews were true but I didnt expect it to be that bad. Guy talking on the phone to a customer was very rude and went on a rant about how much he hates beretta, which was funny to listen too and the most entertaining part of my visit. I am surprised that theyre still in business, must be enough tweakers and old boomers who dont know how to order online in the area for them to make enough money to stay open. If you thought prices on gunbroker were bad, check this place out. Only reason to come here is to laugh at the prices. To the person responding to these reviews, I hope they at least pay you good

Interestingly, Ive never stepped foot in this place. I was looking for a place for some gunsmithing work and was reading reviews.I see SO MANY reviews which site rude, stand-offish behavior. Now usually I take reviews like this with a grain of salt, but it seems the person who moderates this feels VERY inclined to put everyone in their place. Most companies who respect their PR and reputation for future consumers would use these reviews as a training opportunity and/or use decorum which reflects the highest standards in customer service to either save a relationship or protect future relationships. They do this by simply showing that they care about the issue that the person had. However, upon reading so many rebuttals, it seems the moderator takes pride (and even delight) in belittling and condescending the reviewers instead of showing any compassion. This type of business philosophy/strategy solidifies what these reviewers are saying and goes against who I do business with.Out of 230+ ratings, you only have 2 stars.Other gun stores are sailing by you with 4-5 stars.Doesnt that mean anything to you?Do you not have any integrity towards your business or reputation?

After I found out that the Gun Room was selling the last batch of Lionheart LH9s, I called them to order one. The person who answered the phone was nice and answered all my questions. Since Im from out of state, I had to have the gun shipped to an FFL in my home state. Before this, I had never ordered a gun from out of state, and they clearly explained everything that has to be done for the gun to ship, which was helpful.Unfortunately, the local FFL that I initially selected to receive the gun was seemingly incompetent, as during each of the half-dozen calls I made to them, no one from there was able to give me any information about whether the transfer form I filled out for them was received. The staff at the Gun Room were understanding of the problem and very patient, even as I kept calling them to see if they had been contacted by the transfer FFL. To this day, over a month later, that local FFL has not followed up on the transfer form I filled out on their website (I never officially cancelled it). After the Gun Room suggested I find a new FFL, the second one I tried almost immediately sent sent over their license info and the gun arrived in less than a week. After finally getting out to the range to shoot it, I was very impressed by the double action + system. Im very happy with the purchase I made from the Gun Room. After reading some of the nasty reviews online about this place, Im wondering if some of these people even went to the same gun shop, as the experience I had with them is absolutely nothing like these 1-star reviews would have you believe. I would absolutely order from them again.

It was my first time visiting the Gun Room. I was lucky enough to pick up a Glock 43x MOS and a box of 9mm self defense ammunition. Currently it’s very difficult to find guns and ammo in general because of the shortage. People might complain about higher prices on both guns and ammo but that’s where we are currently in the market. I paid a little more than I should’ve for my items but I understand why. I didn’t have a negative experience during my visit instead I was fascinated by the amount of old and new guns they had on the showroom. It’s always good to check out new stores whether or not they have good reviews because sometimes they might have exactly what you’re looking for.Thank you guys at Gun Room!

I have been buying/collecting guns for nearly 10 years, so I am not new to the gun world. I have gotten a few guns from this place NOT because the store is that good, since it is not. The place is very cluttered, the staff though very nice arent helpful, the prices tend to be quite high and dont bother trying to haggle, it wont do any good. So why have I gone there, simple because it is quicker to get a gun there (over priced as it may be) then to wait three or six months for a gun show. Also because though the place is cluttered it does have a fairly large selection, though again for the third time, the guns are over priced. In short it is definitely not my first, second or even third choice for where to get a gun, but it has been my fourth a time or two. If anything its kind-of fun to just browse, since they do have a lot of guns there.

Terrible service, terrible firearm safety.I called ahead regarding a jammed gun that I was unable to fix myself. I called ahead to confirm that they could help me, even though the gun was not purchased from them. Not only was it confirmed, the person on the phone basically said it would be free if it was a simple fix, and we could negotiate if it was something more complicated.I happened to show up at a bad time. It was quickly apparent from the atmosphere and what people were saying that they had just been robbed. Not an armed robbery, but someone had snatched a gun off the counter after pretending to be a customer. No problem. I wait in the lobby chairs until they ask me to come to the counter. I hand over my gun in its case and begin explaining the situation to the employee who told me it would be just a moment, as the person who would be able to fix it (and likely the person who I had just talked to on the phone) was busy (I could see them on the phone reporting the incident to the police). No problem. I begin browsing the store, looking for a new holster and possibly some ammo, when out of nowhere a completely different person approaches me, holding my slide, asking Where did you buy this? I start to explain where the store is and he cuts me off saying Thats their problem. Thats their problem and he walks back to my case. I follow around the counter and say well its actually my problem. I created the jam with the wrong caliber bullet. The place I bought it cant fix it. They dont fix guns. He begins shoving my gun back into its case, mind you it doesnt fit correctly as its disassembled and instead of handing it over for me to do correctly, he just pinched the ends of the case and slid the lock over it. Then (and here is the icing on the cake) he tosses the case with the gun in it onto the counter. Not a large toss, but it was completely disrespectful, not to mention abhorrently unsafe.Stay away from this shop. Clearly a family place, could use a whole lot of organization and obviously some customer service training.

Ill be honest the best thing I got from this place is a good laugh now and again. Every time I am talking with just about anyone in Portland who is interested in firearms they all have the same general opinion about this place. Overpriced guns, dont bother going in there to buy ammo or anything you can find other places. And usually it is accompanied by some less than flattering words about a business that has no interest in its customers interests. Which by all means who really cares business is business and this one isnt really worth spending money at from a price point perspective. Ill be honest the owner and the other people I met there were less than helpful in my own search. I wound up finding exactly what I wanted elsewhere for a better price and that is the unfortunate reality of just about anyone who buys something here. If youre some sort of collector you might find something here. But I must urge you to wait just a bit and look elsewhere before you spend your money here as you will most likely have the same experience. If youre a practical sort of person where a gun is a gun and its performance is all that matters and not some fancy inlay or the name that is etched on it then there are hundreds of places to go better than this one.

Review written during Covid, Portland social unrest and less than 2 weeks before the Trump/Biden election. Ammo is hard to find!CALL AHEAD BEFORE YOU GO!!Yes, they were significantly pricier then online and retail stores for the ammunition that I needed but they were the only place within hundreds of miles that had it in stock. If they have what you need in stock and youve been looking for days or weeks, then pay the higher price and get what you need and stop complaining! This is the Zombie Apocalypse! I sure am grateful. They were friendlier on the phone than in person but such a relief to find my ammo when the rest of the country is sold out with no arrival of stock dates known. P.S. They require masks but were not wearing masks, FYI. So if you have to go, make your trip quick, *call ahead, make sure they have it* and go in for 10 minutes.

I called in looking for 9mm range ammo & the guy on the phone told me, “yeah, we just got a shipment in”, I asked if there was limit per customer and he said, “well I wouldn’t sell you an entire crate but I’d sell you 6 boxes at $15 a pop”. He even asked a coworker next to him to confirm. I thought great, sold. Unfortunately it was towards the end of the day and they were closing soon so I would stop by the next day.The next day I walk in and I tell the old man at the counter what I’m looking for & he tells me yeah they have some but it’s only 1 box per customer, and get this - at $35 per box. I told him I talked to someone on the phone the day prior & before I could finish my story he cuts me off & says, “yeah I understand, but it changes day by day”. So you mean to tell me you go from offering 6 boxes per customer at $15 to 1 box at $35 in less than 24 hours? 200% mark up seems a little fishy. I walked out of there as soon as I could, knowing I’d never come back or refer them to anyone. The old man said he’s been there 21 years so I assume he’s the owner. I know one thing. If you aren’t honest, accommodating or even polite to the people that walk into your business you don’t deserve my money or anyone else’s for that matter.I never write reviews, but something told me I should let people know what’s going on here, and after seeing all these other poor reviews it doesn’t surprise me. The owner should take some accountability because he seems to avoid it with every reply from an unhappy customer. Don’t go here. There are plenty of other reliable, friendly, and cheaper places to spend your coin. Good luck*update* @owner yes I did find my $15 9mm ammo, and a max quantity of 4 boxes. Get with the times old man. The ship is sinking!

I saw a few on their website that interested me, but had several questions on the specs (blade length, total length, etc). I called shortly after they opened and was transferred to speak to Mike. After telling Mike the models I was viewing on their website and my questions on the specs, he offered to call me back after pulling them from the display case and measuring them. Mike called me back within a few minutes with the specs and I chose the one I wanted to purchase. I was able to pay over the phone and was emailed the tracking number a few minutes later. Ten years ago I lived in Portland and had pretty good experience with the owner, but just moved back and the times have changed. Went in for a shoulder rig for my Dan Wesson heritage. The gentleman behind the counter of course asked to clear it and I of course obliged. He preceded to do so muzzling me and finishing with dropping the slide on to an empty chamber. All opinions aside the weapon is mine and most any gun shop would never drop the slide on a 1911. Most shops would be respectful of any weapon that is there, no matter if it was owned by the shop or any customer. The whole crew proceeded to have a debate with me if their actions were really in fact wrong. Word of the wise, do not go here unless you are in for an argument. Some how in the midst of my debate glocks got brought up and they wanted to parade this book in front of me of pictures of failures. I can go along with it except the part where the man showing the pictures could not tell me why each of these events happened. Other than the manufacture makes junk. This place will probably die with the owner. They do have a very interesting selection of the old and some rare pieces, but good forbid you dont have the exact same opinion they do.

The man behind the counter didnt look up at me at all in the first 3 minutes I was there. I walked to the back and found an older looking man and asked him if they had any. He replied with this is a gun shop isnt it? Talk about condescending. Worse, I asked how much it was to which he told me $40 a box, normally $15. So now I know they price gouge. I continued to check out the high amount of stock they have although quality is not what I found. Hundreds of rifles and shotguns just laying on racks, stacked on top of one another, most dinged up badly. And the prices on the guns matched the ammo, about $300 additional on each rifle I looked at. On the way out the guy asked if I was having fun and I told him that they had an amazing amount of stock, to which he replied again, this is a gun shop isnt it? Worse customer service Ive ever seen in my life ... went in to buy a hard gun case , they had a used one and wanted $150 more then a new was advertised for I showed him the ad and he simply said go buy it from them and asked to leave after I totally punked him out in front customers for asking more $$ for a used product then a new one ! 🤣

If youre into old firearms this is the place, everytime ive gone here the staff has been helpful, and has alot of info and knowledge on older firearms. Its an old school shop that is straight to the point. And theyre knowledgeable on colts and winchesters which they have alot of and is the stuff that i like.

I’ve visited the store a few times over the years, generally only long enough to think “Oh yeah, THAT’S why I never come here”. The overpriced stock. The intolerant discussions taking place with the regulars seated up front. The mall-ninja attitudes of the staff when talking about shooting people. Exactly the type of unwelcoming firearms culture that makes it difficult to get outsiders interested in the sport. Which brings me to yesterday. I found myself in the neighborhood, and decided to pick up a box of ammunition. They put it on the counter and I open it up enough to see the first row of rounds. Looks OK, I pay and leave. I get home, open the box, and what do I see? Sixteen regular defensive rounds, one round of PMC wadcutter, and three empty holes. Wow guys. I’m just going to consider the money I lost a reminder to never go back.

Took my Remington 870 in to get second barrel. They had a brand new 28” barrel and changeable chokes instock. Very helpful and even replaced my missing butt stock piece for free. A++

I had a genuinely great experience at the gun room. I was skeptical about shopping there mainly because of the list of people writing bad reviews. These guys really care about the experience customers have while shopping. Shout out to Warren for being so wise and warmhearted. Looking forward to stopping back in!

I was new to firearms and they ripped me off by $300. I thought trying out a local buisness I drive by almost every day would be a good idea... Welp, their loss Ive easily spent 10× that now through better local businesses that arent a joke. All the other reviews are spot on, youre much better off going somewhere else.

Went in and was looking for a holster for concealed carry. Apparently I was automatically enrolled in a “How Trump is making America Great again” conversation that I didn’t solicit. When I had questions, he huffed, and puffed, and then he just abandoned me so I could look behind the counter myself. On top of that, the prices were crazy. Not sure how this place stays in business, but if you’re looking for a non opinionated and biased conversation about guns, literally go to any other gun store.

Wont touch any plastic guns... Asked if they pressed sights on or off or adjusted them, have a Springfield xd... Yeah OK guys. Rather rude and apparently dont know much about firearms unless you a running old school 1911(nothing wrong with them I own a few myself) but yeah if you have a toy gun dont bother with these people. Glad I called ahead...

Awhile back, I purchased a revolver here. It is no longer manufactured, these folks had one from 30 years ago that was never fired. It needed a minor adjustment that was never performed at the factory. They had it repaired for me the day I purchased it. If I ever have any problems, they will repair it as long as I own it. Their knowledge is great, especially on vintage firearms. If you want a QUALITY new or vintage firearm, this a great place. If you want cheap plastic crap that will never be worth anything, go somewhere else.

These guys actually think all Glocks (or any polymer pistols) are terrible firearms and essentially ticking time bombs ready to explode at any moment. I guess someone forgot to forward that memo to most LE agencies in America and the rest of the world oh and did I forget most NATO militaries including the US? You dont have to have an all steel pistol to make a reliable and effective sidearm. The future is now old men.

The first impression is this is the place to shop for pistols, rifle, knives and associated gear. But be careful! First of all, prices are very high so unless you cannot find it somewhere else you would be dumb not to shop around. Next, the owner is convincing in his opinion about what firearms should or should not be. Do not be swayed as was I.I was convinced this guy is a worthy expert to rely on (I am a novice) but he is merely motivated to make a sale. Others are too but one can understand that at a regular gun shop. Here I expected something else but did not get it. All I am saying is be really careful at this place because you might get stung as I did.

Total douche. Asked for the cheapest ammo that I was going to target practice with and the guy handed me hollow points. Of course I didn’t check because I figured he gave me what I asked for. Thought the price was pretty high. But I haven’t bought ammo in a while and just thought the price had gone up. So after I purchase and realize it’s the wrong ammo, guy won’t let me return it. Never go here.

OVER PRICED! They are trying to sell a brick of 500 0.22 LR for $100. I found comparable online for $60 and a lesser brand for $42. I understand that there is an ammo shortage, but this is insane. Called other stores and to buy ten 50 packs from them was still about $70. I have only been in there twice and never bought a single thing because everything is marked up extremely. Dont bother! Any other gun store in Portland Metro could do better.

Im a first time gun buyer and walked in the other day to ask if they had a Sig p226, and then came the rant. I could hardly get a word in. The old man was preaching to me about how cheap Americans are. How we are so stupid and re-elected the idiot. How I need to figure it out and buy a Colt and not some German piece of sh!$ because if I didnt know already the Germans lost the war and that should tell me something. He showed me the 3 ring binder with pictures of broken guns. He tried selling me a used colt and I told him I would have to do more research. His reply was something to the effect that everyone thinks the internet has all the answers but he doesnt believe so. The only truth in literature is in the good book which he informed me hes read cover to cover twice. Then he points to the girl next to me and says that she hasnt had a date in two years because she can shoot a shotgun better than anyone. At that point I just started laughing. I believe the over all IQ of that place doubled when I walked in. Wont be buying a gun from them.

I have never written a review of any business I had visited...but this one required me to from the horrible service and attitudes of these morons!!I had visited this place years ago and was told they were the only gun dealer around, contrary to my knowledge of their competition a few miles up the road. Sadly I wandered back in there in search of a low cost handgun. Right away when I said I was looking to keep the cost under $250 was I belittled by the owner, a crotchety old coot of a man, about how I would not find one for under $400. He then badgered me to get some balls and tell my wife that I was the man and to spend what I wanted. I was very insulted and shocked at his demeanor. On a final note, I went to Gun Brokers/Tigard and bought a low cost auto pistol for $150. I highly recommend buying from Gun Brokers instead.I have been shooting and collecting for over 30 yrs and am not ignorant about handguns.**Every negative comment you read here is spot on to my experience as well.Do not venture into this dealer unless you want to be insulted.

If I could do zero stars or even negatives I would. This place is a complete joke with an attitude like that of a bullied youth that grew up to collect guns to prove his manhood.
