They are a lot better than the old gander mountain. I go there every couple of weeks. I always find something that I think is a good buy.i make inline spinner baits and they have just the right beads that I need. They also have the tape to put on the spinner blades. They give me 10% off my purchases cause I joined the Good Sams club through them. I recommend this store for all your sporting items whether hunting, camping,fishing or bicycling.

Purchased a pistol online to be shipped here. To my surprise, they charged zero dollars to complete the transaction. That’s right, I paid the online retailer for the firearm, and Gander did everything else for nothing. While I was there, I was surprised by the very low ammo prices. The gentleman behind the counter were knowledgeable, seemed happy about working there, and were very helpful. I will most certainly be back.

I’m really disappointed in this place. My boyfriend and I went to the Portage location over a month ago to purchase a 450 Bushmaster. After reading reviews and checking prices we thought we would get the best deal here. When we went it was great, the people were initially super helpful, we ordered a left handed gun (not realizing they don’t sell left handed). The guy told us he would call when the order was sent in the next day, we never received a cal. We called three times afterward and they said they didn’t have our information so we kept giving it to them. Finally we found out it wasn’t ordered because it was left handed which was fine, we ordered a right handed one two weeks ago. Had the same problem. Nobody knew we had placed an order and kept saying they would call us back. They got a shipment in today so we called and it still hasn’t come in and they aren’t sure when it will come. My boyfriend asked them why the distributor has them (he called) and they don’t. The sales guy said “oh my god” and hung up. I’m so pissed we waited this long for a gun so we could have it before firearm season in Michigan, still don’t have a gun, and the guy was so rude. If the shipment tomorrow doesn’t have our gun I will never go back.

For rifles and ammo you wont find better deals, they will match any competitors price.And the staff is very knowledgeable and genuine real human beings. Always a pleasure!

Really have enjoyed the gander here. Hard to beat prices on many handguns and sale prices are even better! Fishing department is fair just wish it was more specific to our area not a lot of demand for tackle for the big lake this far inland!

I really enjoy the new gander outdoors. The fishing area is larger with better equipment. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. If they do not know the answer to a question they find someone who does or will track down an answer immediately. Very good group.

From what I have read, I was a little nervous to deal with this store.I was very happy with my experience. I came in to this store, to pick up my first handgun.Andrew F. was very helpful, he helped to teach me more about firearms, ammunition, and the firearm that I purchased. I know very little about firearms, and have been researching and learning what I can. Andrew explained the differences between 9x18mm and 9x19mm ammunition, which I was having a tough time understanding before. He also explained to me, how self defense ammo works.My firearm, did not come with the second magazine or the leather flap holster, that was supposed to be with it. Andrew was quick to check the back area, where he found the items that I was missing. I am very happy with my experience, and very appreciative of how kind and helpful Andrew was.

Nice selection, prices are still high. Im in the market for a double burner camp stove. Gander has 5 to choose from. The least expensive one is 3 times as much as the same or extremely similar one online. They have $200 prey cameras and $350 coolers. Fun place to visit,but...

Great location for hunting, fishing, and camping gear. Good variety of products with reasonable prices for the quality. Love that they allow leashed dogs inside! I dont have to leave my dog alone in the car and the employees are all so happy to help.

Abe the Salesperson at the Weapon Counter was very Helpful, Knowledgeable, and Friendly.I was even allowed to bring my Standard Poodle into the store. She is in Good Citizen Classes. From what I could see they have all the usual sporting goods store gear. But their staff set them apart from the rest. They are genuinely knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. I will go out of my way to give them my business.

They are always courteous, professional and are always able to answer any questions asked of them. Just as important, I know I will receive an honest answer in return and not just what I want to hear. I mostly work with Mike and Chris, but the staff at the Academy (Bruce, Moose & Ken) are a great group of people I know I can trust and feel safe with when I go in to train or just have a little time to work on things by myself. Yesterday me and my step parents walked into Gander mountain looking for some deals cause they are closing. While doing that we came across a bike that had a flat tire and we didn’t know if it could be damaged or not and instead of 30% off we asked if it could be 50% off and it wasn’t that big of a deal but the manager acted rude and had an attitude from the start and told us she couldn’t do that because it was just a flat tire so no big deal we decided to not get it then we walked around a bit more and hear the air pump turn on and then see a coworker riding it back to its spot no big deal then as we are walking out the manager rushes over to the bike and gets on it and rides it around and with a snarky tone goes “oh it’s totally okay woohoooo”. So overall sad that people have to be childish when you’re suppose to be the manager

The staff was very courteous. They provided recommendations and didnt criticize when I chose different from their recommendation. I had a complex purchase and they supported the process over two days. Very easy going and accommodating. I worked with about 4-5 of the staff and they all presented themselves professionally and they provided a fantastic experience. Thank you.

Its a decent store with lots if inventory. The clothing layout is all over the place and not well labeled but its not a big deal. The staff is a strange mix. The last few times I was there, some of the employees were helpful, while some just stood around chatting as I was obviously trying to find items. I didnt want help, but as a rule staff should always confirm a customer doesnt need assistance.

I have always made my choices on what locations I shop and make my purchases based on a number of areas-knowledge of the products that are being sold by the employee, customer service must be exceptional, quality of the products being sold, and the price.My recent visit to make a purchase on 4/12/16 met everyone of the areas mentioned above by an employee named David, he even shook my hand at the end of the purchase and said to come back if I every have any further questions. I highly recommend this store at this location to everyone, I know I will be back in the future.

I recently took the concealed carry course under Kenneth McGuire. He had no idea he was teaching a woman whose husband has been a competitive shooter in both rifle and handguns for several years. I came away fully impressed with the knowledge and training contained in this class. Mr. McGuire is an excellent instructor who engaged the class in lively conversation and debate. He didnt just spout facts at us. He made us think ; ask questions, figure things out. I do and will recommend his class to others. Outstanding job!

I have shopped at this store for years and always received great service. I recently made a purchase that was new to me and was impressed by the helpful nature of the associate (Abe). Seeing similar reviews, I can only assume this is normal operating procedure. His knowledge and comments were much appreciated, as was his patience. Much better pricing than Gander mountain ever was. At least for the items Im buying. With the good Sams membership the savings have been incredible. I purchased a bike that was $799 after member discount and a member only coupon the final price after tax was $412.32 .Overall Im very happy with the selection and prices.

I recently purchased a Sig Sauer 1911 c3 from Gander Mountain in Kalamazoo. The team at Gander was very helpful and pleasant to work with. They were able to answer all my questions. The team members that work in the gun department where very knowledgeable about the products they offered. Being that i did a layaway i was able to work with several different team members and had a great experience with all of them. On the final day of my purchase i worked with a gentleman by the name of Abe. He was very patient and knowledgeable, and made my experience enjoyable. We are from Battle Creek. My son wanted waders for his birthday. Gander Mountain has a great selection. Prices are a bit on the high side. But, all their products are made to last almost the rest of your life. So its worth it to spend a little extra now. And this blew my mind. They offer warranties on some of their gear. We got a 2 yr protection plan on his pants for only 10 bucks. They will replace the pants if you get blood on them.

This place is a huge up grade from the old gander mountain the store layout is so much better. They have a bigger selection of guns and ammunition the prices are better. They actually have some reloading stuff not a lot but it is a start and the staff is very friendly

Decent selection for location size, prices in line with other stores of this type. Easy to find, right off the highway. Plenty of parking. Would have given more stars but sales guy was VERY pushy. Asked for help finding something and then never left us alone. Kept pushing their credit card, and then membership card. The guy was friendly and knowledgeable but wouldnt back off about the card. This also kept us from continuing to look around and shop more.

I came in pretty determined on a particular handgun to purchase at Gander Mountain, but after talking to the associate at the gun counter I changed my mind completely and was steered toward what I think was a much better choice. We have been coming to the academy here for about 2 years now. We have our annual membership. My boyfriend his mom and me are what you could say regulars. Everyone that works weekends knows us. We have always been able to go on the same lane. Today they told us we are not able to shoot together wed either have lanes on opposite sides of each other or wed have to switch out people. It also sucks we have to pay $7.50 for an additional person who wont be able to shoot the entire hour. I feel like we are being done dirty. This is something we have all enjoyed doing together and I feel like by allowing us to be in there together is hindering our bond time.UPDATE:I paid $7.50 and only got to shoot for 5 minutes. I am so beyond furious right now. Were not planning on renewing our membership. And probably wont be back for a very long time. Were also going to come up there and get a refund for our conceal and carry class. Im so disappointed in gander mountain.

Went to Gander Mountain and had a great experience when purchasing a firearm. Abe was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was patient while I looked at different weapons and pointed out the features available.Abe assisted in getting the best ammo and all was reasonably priced. You guys should a bigger air soft selection because kids and adults now a days like to play air soft. And when they play they don’t use spring gun. But other than that the store is good.

We went in to find black powder supplies. Staff was friendly, we was directed to the right area with a big selection of powder. Prices were competitive. Store was clean and well organized. Would go back again for any outdoor supplies I might need.

The former owner (Gander Mountain) was amazing, but the new owner (Camping World) doesnt live up to the legacy. They have many of the same products, but a jacked up price structure just turns me off to the store. Even without an equivalent replacement in this region, I will not go back to Gander Outdoors

I planned to buy a gun when I walked in. The salesmen showed me zero respect and lost my business in less than two sentences.I walked in and back to the gun counter. The gun guy, as usual, was chatting with a friend or something. Didn’t bother me, so I waited for them to finish. Looked at a few of the guns I was weighing, and eventually he finished. Not great service but gun salesmen rarely provide that. Still no big deal. I approached him and asked to see one of the revolvers in the cabinet. Without missing a beat he asked me if I was in the market or just looking. I told him I was doing research, at which point he interrupted me to tell me that if it wasn’t so calm he wouldn’t waste his time showing me guns if All I was doing was looking. Well, I’m not sure why I would be doing research if I didn’t plan to buy a gun. So after being basically told I was wasting his time (this the salesmen that just spent 10 minutes talking about who knows what with his buddy) I quickly realized that this man didn’t want to sell me a gun. Thus, I went to OnTarget and have just spent 600$ on a brand new .357 Ruger revolver. The clerk there was happy to help me, showed me two or three guns, waited while I called the wife to confirm it was okay (you know how it is), and then got his cut when I bought the thing. Take notes, Gander Mt. That’s how you sell a gun.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. And their prices are quite competitive. Especially if youre in there club. But you dont need to be in the club to shop there.

It took them over a month to get one simple screw for my shotgun barrel. I could have gone to any hardware store and taken care of it in a day. I would not recommend their gunsmith under any circumstance, especially if you need something back in a timely fashion.I ended up having my gun barrel shipped back and went to a different business. Unacceptable turn around time.

Poor experience buying a rifle and scope. The rifle had to be ordered out. UPS tracking showed it arrived at store. No one in store could find it until 3 days after it was delivered. The scope rings were not at Rochester store, but they were in stock in twin cities stores. They could not be ordered on line and they did not know how to transfer them to Rochester store, so I got them from Bass Pro. They advertise free scope mounting and bore sighting. They said the batteries were dead in their bore sight, so they could not bore sight my scope. I am sure they had batteries in the store or could take a bore sight off the shelf, but did not argue - I wanted to get out of the store as soon as possible.Gander Mountain needs to get serious about training their staff and putting some structure into how ordered items are received and tracked in store or they will quickly go out of business.I would have given a 1 rating, but I have bought hunting clothing and hunting boots there in the past that I have been satisfied with. Their Tech2O waterproof clothing is the closest I have found to Gortex, but is a lot cheaper when on sale.

Well I went there to buy a winter coat and gloves since I came to Rochester Minnesota without those things and I found a great deal on a thinsulate jacket and I got some gloves and then I went back to find some winter shoes and I found some good boots that were marked down for Black Friday that fit me and when I went to the cash register it rang up a lot more than that but they kindly gave me the Black Friday deal after Black Friday and the people were really helpful I wanted to find a certain type of fanny pack and they found it for me and I thought everybody did a great job. There didnt seem to be any help at all in the shoe department which was quite large but I wandered around and found something that I think is going to work out just fine and Im very very pleased with the jacket I found there -- a very good price and exactly what I needed for the winter

The place is very expensive. I would much rather go to Academy or Cabalas to buy. The only reason I loved gander was for their indoor gun range. It was the perfect place to go for fairly cheap.

I bought a Kimber Custom II 1911 pistol yesterday. Dave helped me out and he was great. He provided insight and suggestions that showed he really knew what he was selling. I appreciated everything and was very satisfied. I will certainly continue my shopping at Gander Mountain.

Excited to see the store open in Newnan. Went in last Sunday to buy a bow. Went to the archery department with my adult son and was sizing up bows. There was an employee behind the counter who never bothered to speak to me or indicate to me he knew I was even there. I stood there pulling bows down off the wall, putting them back, talking to my son about which one he thought I should get. The employee just sat there assembling bows to put on display. when he finished the second one, I figured he was useless.My son and I then went to Dicks across the street, and Academy, but they didnt have what I was looking for. Against my better judgement, we went BACK to Gander in hopes that we might have better luck. Nope.This time, I figured it had to go better, so I went ahead and picked up some arrows, a release, and some other stuff and started pulling bows off the wall. Good news was the employee appeared to be finished assembling bows because he was pretty much just sitting there at this point. he did get busy though, because as I was shopping and hoping to buy a bow (prepared to spend about $800) he got on an intercom he had in his ear and asked someone to bring him his Jimmy Johns sub. At that point I had spent about 30 minutes the first visit, and 20 minutes the second visit (the same day) without this guy even bothering to address me in ANY way. We put down the items we had and I decided to buy my bow somewhere else.I see that Gander appears to try and respond to reviews. Thats good, maybe theyll do something about this guy. He cost them at LEAST $800 on one visit from me. I was also looking to buy a pistol in the next month as well. Just not from Gander at this point.

Horrible experience. Waited by the rifle scope cases for close to 20 minutes while two employees goofed around with a customer, one of the associates texting on her phone. Not once was I greeted or told that they would be right with me. Went to a competitor and was greeted and helped within 1 minute of looking at scopes. My brother and I were going to purchase two high end rifle scopes, but this store lost my business for good.

I could wander in Gander for hours and hours.. They have most everything you could want if you are a hunter, camper, fisher.. OR if you just want to dress like one. ;-)

Purchased a new compound bow on Black Friday. I got a great price on a great bow but there was no tech available to set it up and cut arrows. I called the next two days to see if someone was available with no luck. Ended up taking it to Cabelas and they set it up for me for free. Also helped me choose the right arrows and a release that works for me. I felt left with no service after the sale at Gander Mountain.

This time around, I purchased a Ruger 9 mm with the help of Associate Jonathon. He was helpful, considerate, and not at all pushy. Gander Mt. is a great place to go for all outdoor needs. You can sure of competitive pricing, awesome assistance (if needed) and friendly/courteous service.

False advertisement Store wide clearance signs saying $22.99 on a pair of pants that rings up for $49.99 with no price tags marked at all so the consumer only has the sign to go off of not to mention every item in the store is over priced by 10-20% what a waste of time no wonder there were 3 people total in a 20,000 square foot store! I normally don’t write reviews because I don’t normally feel like they are deserved. I was delightfully surprised with my visit to the Gander Mountain in Newnan, Georgia. The day before I was at Gander Mountain I went to Academy Sports to purchase a firearm. While I was there I wasn’t greeted and had to find someone to ask for help. Once I found someone I was given less than stellar service. I needed a document with an updated address in order to make my purchase. They advised me to come back once I had that. That night I went on Gander Mountain’s website I saw the same product for $40 cheaper and in stock at their Newnan store. The next night I got off work and went by. I was greeted and asked if I needed help by multiple employees within the first three minutes of entering the store. A gentleman by the name of Mike ended up helping me. The service he provided me was top notch. He asked plenty of questions and listened to my answers to help me with my purchase. He offered me relevant additional items that I would also need and all of which I was going to have to purchase at some point either way. I ended up with everything I needed in one stop. The conversation was engaging and also kept my wife and son involved throughout the visit. I run a local Ford dealership and am overly critical with the level of service I receive when I’m out shopping. I came in with lower expectations and left completely satisfied with the entire experience. I would love to have a store filled with nothing but “Mike” running around. If you are looking for anything Gander Mountain sells, save yourself the lesson I learned, start there first! My hat is off to Mike and the team there at the Gander Mountain store in Newnan, Georgia. Keep it up!

Just called the Wichita, Ks store to find out if the store had an item that I needed. Saturday afternoon and I am sure the store is busy. The operator was so helpful. The department that I needed was really busy so he came back on the phone and let me know. He then acted as the go between me and the department to get my question answered. AWESOME customer service. Ive shopped and purchased at Gander Mountain many times through the last several years - guns, clothing and fishing equipment. I agree that some of the prices are a tad high, but I fully appreciate that GM usually has just what Im looking for and I wont have to visit other stores to locate the merchandise.

I frequent the Gander Training Academy range to practice and for the knowledge as well as the guidance of the instructors however recently when leaving the store I witnessed what appeared to be a Gander Mountain employee (tan vest) handling a customers handgun in the holster isle. This made me feel extremely uneasy as the customer hand drawn the gun from concealment. With a live fire range it makes no sense to be clearing firearms anywhere but the range. It is an unsafe, irresponsible, and dangerous practice to say the least as it puts everyone at risk. With a resource like the staff at the range its a shame that your sales associates arent better trained to properly and safely handle firearms. This isnt an isolated incident as Ive witnessed such things in the past as well.

My husband and I visited your store on Saturday February 20 intending to purchase a handgun for personal protection. My husband and I will be taking our CCW course in a few weeks. Although I have shot a few guns in my life, I know very little about them and felt somewhat intimidated in making the decision on the size and the type of handgun I would like to carry. Thomas greeted my husband and I and let me try out several models. He asked me questions about how each one felt in my hand and if I was able to easily open and close the action. I was very nervous at first. Thomas was very patient with me and answered all of my questions. I finally decided on a Ruger LC9s. I felt very comfortable with the gun by the end of our transaction. Gander Mountain has become my go-to location for purchasing firearms in the Kalamazoo area. The GM pricing is competitive. Keep an eye out for Black Friday specials! The staff there is quite knowledgeable, and patient with newbies like me.

I am Extremely disappointed in this store. It is one that is closest in proximity to my home and when I went to purchase my first firearm I stood at the not busy counter for 20 minutes while the two associates where helping other customers. Neither associate said a word to me or even acknowledged my presents. As a woman buying my first gun this irritated me quite a lot, but I consider myself a patient woman. It was not until 2 other men arrived at the counter that their presents was acknowledged as they walked right past me. When finally approached after standing there for almost 30 minutes I was kind of helped. I expressed interest in a hand gun and purchasing it. Either I was not herd, understood or they just did not care. I was given the gun to look at and as soon as I set it on the counter and turned my head to look where my husband was. The gun was out back in the case and the associate moved onto the next customer. When My husband walked over and stood near me he was acknowledged within moments, even though the associates were still with other customers. I hope it was just sh*tty customer service and not because I am a women.I had a very similar experience on the phone today. And the reason for the review. Now that I am more experienced and know what I am looking for in a gun. I surfed the web site and found what I was looking for. I was having trouble figuring out if it on hand at any of the stores. So I called the Rochester location. When I told him Exactly what I was looking for I was told We dont sell that Even though I had found it on the website. There was no offer to look to see if it was in the warehouse or if it could be ordered form the distributor.This store frustrates me and I have no intention of returning.
