Every damn time I go, I just get ticked off! From really high prices to trying to return items. Today. I honestly lost my receipt. From a week ago. They keep an electronic record. Just like Menards. Nope. Big freaking deal. Why did I return it? Well. I found more wrong. Needed a lot more parts that you did not stock. I bought a flu pipe for $12 at Do it. Menards was under $5.00. I needed 4 pipes plus a bunch of extra parts. My savings was likely $75.00! At Menards. Sorry! I try to support local business. High temp sealer. $13. Menards. $7.

Crazy expensive!!!!! Its bad when I drive all the way to Home Depot because ( 2) 1/2 copper pipes would cost $24 more here. I understand its a small town hardware store but 100% higher? No way!!!!! I want to shop here but also dont want to feel molested when I leave. Closed at 3pm on a Saturday? Thats helpful. Bung!!

I’ve shopped at this store off and on for the last 10 years and their customer service is ALWAYS top notch, which is something to be very proud of!! Will you pay a little more? Maybe (not always) but you will never be left aimlessly walking around the store trying to figure things out for yourself. In a world where customer service is one of the only things you have control over and often what keeps people coming back, these people have it figured out!! Thank you!

Ive used the services of Portage Lumber for 30 years. They are a good basic hardware store/lumber yard. Theyre as good as any big box store, (Home Depot, Menards,Lowes) without the big selection. I my case they are closer than any of the others, so for most of my needs in the areas they supply, they are my first choice. I like their salespeople especially Joel Kasten.

Very convenient and easy to navigate the store. They have basically anything you need for your building/repair/lawn/garden needs.

Great neighborhood lumber yard. Not the selection of building/plumbing/electrical supplies as some of the bigger box stores, but Ive never left without what I needed to get the job done. Nice folks.

We went in to Portage Do-It Center and they were open (9-5 on a Sunday!!) and the staff was SOOOOO helpful!! My friend and I went into buy stain for a deck and we were completely at a lost! Well, Donna in the paint/stain area went above and beyond to help us!! She had amazing recommendations and tips to help us get the job done! We are currently staining and the quality and color of the stain is amazing!! We went to check out and Kay at the front counter was so pleasant, saved us 10% at checking out which was about $18 AND walked us out to fill our car!! Great staff and product, thank you all so much!!

Nice store almost anything except major appliances which I didnt see. They had lumber items, hardware, lawn and garden, windows, cabinets, counters, carpeting, flooring, etc, etc, etc.

Recently, I purchased a Milwaukee jobsite Bluetooth speaker. It failed to stay powered on after 8 days. I called in talked to Craig and I will be exchanging for another tomorrow morning. The great part is Craig called me back an hour later informing me he set the exchanged speaker at the back desk because he is not working tomorrow. Now that’s great service.

Everything went well, I found what I needed and had very fast friendly service.

Its a bit pricy but a hearty little store. Usually find what I need pretty easily and staff is very helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming.

Had to get a vinyl siding removal tool and they had in stock. In and out in 5 minutes.

Have a pretty good variety of product. Didnt have the color spray paint I wanted but specialty product so understandable. Store is very clean.

I was disappointed that they do not accept manufacture coupons.

Sad customer service. Called one day about renting a tool they said they cant rent because of covid. Stopped a week later was told the rental guy quit so they cant rent out anything. Really no one else woring in the store knows how to do it. Then stopped to get some tubing of course they didnt have it. Asked about the department again and now this time they said they cant rent out because of covid. Lets get your story right. How do uou stay openrental

I am a frequent customer and certainly spend a bit of money here for my hobby farm projects. I find that most of the employees are very friendly and helpful as are the guys in the yard and Rich at the rental desk. The price is significantly more than Menards, but that is too be expected. You are getting better products and better service here at Portage Lumber.

Always have what i need

Went to rent electric snake didnt have all tools had 2 use a butter knife 2 push in pins to attatch the snake line, spent over 300$ on parts and rental forgot to return toolbox until next morning. My wife took it in carrying my 1 yr old daughter, guy who works the rental counter proceeds to curae my wife out and threatens to charge 50 more dollars, very friendly customer service

They wont stock a 50 amp flush mount just like ace becouse there stuck with a 50 amp floor mount that no one wants. Now I have to drive to another town becouse these two competitors cant stock their shelf with more than one at a time. And why is the linear 2x6 5 7/16 and the studs 5 9/16

Horrible place, said they had 4 items, turned out they had 0. Had to wait 15 minutes and drive there and waste my afternoon
