I can’t say enough good things about merchant. From the first time I went in there, the staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. They have been nothing but helpful for any of my Gun needs or questions. They are always happy to take the time and have a conversation and discuss anything I need explained. I’ve also used their gun smithing and they do a phenomenal job and are extremely fast. To sum it up, this place never disappoints. I will always go to them and they have my loyalty for life.

Decided to go by since it’s been under new ownership and it already feels like a completely different store. Lots of product, kept the good people and got rid of the trash. The place now feels like a legit store, ran by people who care and know how to run a business. I can’t wait to see the other changes coming down the pipe. Keep up the good work! Side note…for anyone who was fed up or ran off due to the previous owner, I highly suggest giving the new owners a chance. I’ve never met them but you can tell they know what they are doing. It’s a night and day difference. I’ll continue giving them my business now.

This shop has been my best kept secret for finding what Im looking for at a good price-- even with all the shortages in recent history. The staff is helpful, and the owner (who I later discovered was the owner) is exceptional.Not only do I want to support a great, local business, but this shop has saved me from having to search online, from paying delivery fees, and from waiting for an indefinite amount of time for those items Id rather have sooner than later.Hopefully, that will be your experience too!

It’s an okay store, not good and definitely not great. Costumer service is terrible unless you’re dealing with one of the owners. Employees won’t greet you as you walk in or go out of their way to ask if you are looking anything. You’re no existence when walking in. Far better stores to go to in the Tempe area if you’re looking for a good selection of firearms and ammo.

I have been to Merchant firearms many times throughout the years. Every time I have walked in their store is spotless and organized which i really appreciate. I am not a big gun person however, when I have asked for help or explanation they genuinely didnt mind taking extra time to explain things to me, whether I was just perusing or there for a purchase. They have earned my patronage through quality service and fair pricing.

This is one of the best stores in the valley. They have a huge variety of stock on hand. They also have a lot of parts and supplies. I especially like the Sig Sauer store. I am a BIG Sig fan. They have new weapons and consignment weapons too. They are very professional and great to work with. You will not be disappointed with this store.

Aaron, the owner, is wonderful. However, Employees do not seem to care about customers or their needs. Some of the employees are very rude and irritable. Especially when on the phone.

Terrible service. I have purchased 2 firearms and some ammo on a couple occasions. Everytime I had gone in there I felt they were passive aggressive. None the less Ive shrugged it off as if I was over analyzing what they said. Fast forward a year (yesterday) I had gone in to get something and they were blatantly rude. Well I wont give them anymore business. Theres plenty of other shops around. Shoot (pun intended), Ill drive two hours out of the way just to avoid them.

Third visit to this store and I will keep coming back. I pass two other gun shops just to go here. The staff is great! Im new to collecting and they take the time to help you without making you feel stupid.

Decided to finally build my own rifle and went in to get some ideas. I told them what I really wanted to do with the gun and the guys there were very knowledgeable and walked me through all the parts Id need. At multiple times they even recommended parts that they didnt carry but thought would be better for what I was looking to do. Through the whole process I never felt pressured to spend more money on something I really didnt need, and they answered every question I had. Lastly, I really wanted to do the build myself so they even suggested I bring it back when I was done and they could make sure everything looked alright. Overall a great experience and definitely recommend them.

My wife & I came in looking forward to purchasing more ammo and another rifle. The tall Caucasian gentleman working there was extremely rude for no reason, not only to me but to others as well I observed. We have come to merchant before, but we will no longer be returning customers.

These guys are honest and know what they are doing AND know how to treat customers. In an industry that is not always known for customer service, these guys stand tall.

Worst experience I’ve had going into any place in awhile. I walked in as a customer was ringing out his purchase no greeting or anything so I kept looking around thinking I would get a hello be right with you or anything. Another customer comes in not even 5 minutes after me and he’s greeted. Soon as the young guy was done with his purchase the associate walked right to him and asked how he could help as I wasn’t even there. I just walked out because I would rather spend my hard earned money elsewhere that greets me soon as I walk in or at least acknowledge that I’m there. Sad to even have to experience that feeling like I’m invisible.

Very poor customer service! Ive bought a few things from this place but never again! Called and asked about a small Sig P320 grip module for my M17, they told me they had one so I drove there and bought it. Had to get a small cut into the grip for the safety on the M17. Turns out it was a size Medium grip module which is what I already have on my M17. They sold me the wrong part. I went in to return the grip module and they wont refund me or give me store credit or anything. I understand the part was altered, but they sold me the wrong part in the first place. I would expect them to own up to it, but instead told me it was my fault for not looking at the part before I had it cut. The cut looks factory and professional. I will not be giving them anymore business and recommend finding a different gun shop to go to.

Everyone extremely friendly was having issues with a detent not completely seating in correctly on a ar15 lower they were helpful enough to take a look and found a machine issue in the lower the fixed it on the spot ! extremely helpful and knowledgeable!!!!! Best gun shop in town !!!

Excellent experience! I have been to a few shops in the East Valley and this is by FAR the best I have visited. Its a smaller shop, but has a great inventory and excellent customer service. I was interested in a pistol they didnt have in stock, so they ordered it for me without any hassle, and gave me some great recommendations suited to my interests. As a newcomer to the world of handgun ownership, I was really pleased with the high level of attention and respect I was paid by the staff. I will be doing business with them again as soon as I decide on my next firearm purchase.

Very pleased w/the selection and service. The retail floor is much better now that they expanded. Lots of space, very helpful staff. Prices are very good. Even w/ the run on guns, they are worth the drive. I went in recently just looking to price a SIG, I walked out w/my choice of SIG, w/ hollow points and extended mag for less than I expected. Very very happy. I will be returning in the future.The staff at merchant (inpartucular the red haired British guy) are great at explaining the class III stuff and doing the paperwork for such. For those needs I will be returning again and again.

Cool store. Friendly staff. Lots of stuff typically only found online. However, bizarre policy not to price match. Tried to buy a scope they had listed at $450 that I could get locally in stock at other stores for $400. I told them Id buy it for $400 but they said no. I ordered it on Amazon later for $362 anyways, but I couldnt believe they said no. They also had a set of mismatched or defective scope rings on the shelf. When the guy saw me looking at them confused, he said he has no idea if its broken, missing pieces, or what.. . But they leave that item on the shelf ... That seems shady, the item in the box isnt what is advertised on the box .. . Overall it was a cool store and average spot for ammo, but I was put off by the refusal to price match and the odd practice of leaving defective items on the shelf for uninformed customers to buy; why not send them back as defects? Ill buy ammo here in a pinch going forward, but thats about it.

Ive been in here a few times to buy some parts for my AR build. Ive been to just about every gun store in the valley, and this one really stood out. These guys are awesome. Every time Ive come in, someone has been with me immediately, and has followed me throughout the store to find everything I need. I think the most unique thing about this store, is that the sales staff are very knowledgeable without being douchenozzles. These guys installed my brake on my brake on my AR that I bought there at no extra charge, and without being annoying about how simple the job was. They took care of all my needs, and were happy to do it. 10/10 some really rare staff here. And good pricing too. No markups on anything, really.

Just left merchant firearms kind of bummed. I was quoted 120 over the phone for iron sights when I got there the guy I worked with couldnt find what the girl on the phone quoted me 120 for (I asked for iron sights we found out later she quoted 120 for polymer sights). The employee I was working with said he could discount a metal pair of sights for me which I agreed too purchase the manager asked the employee to make sure he could do that and the employee said he could. I Acknowledged the manager as he walked by (he looked right at me) and didnt return the courtesy which I found rude. I was still shopping for a sig p320 which I didnt find unfortunately. Upon checking out the employee was called to the back and returned to tell me he could not discount the sights as we previously agreed too which was very frustrating. I still purchased ammo for my shooting this weekend. Otherwise a pleasant experience minus the employee trying to give me a discount and the manager/owner telling him he couldnt give me a discount. The guy I worked with was super helpful/friendly though.

Excellent job by all who work there and are associated with Merchant Firearms. They are the most Knowledgeable People in the Firearms Business From First Purchase to Class 3 paper work to Conceal carry Laws. They have a Great selection and always try to Help . There Prices are better than almost every store in the Great State of Arizona. They work hard at trying to keep inventory , just everyone is buying so much it goes Quick.If you see it , you better buy it before we are not able to have it . Have a Great Day everyone!!!

Generally wide selection. Staff is mostly friendly. One guy was giving terrible advice about an IO AK. I don’t appreciate sales staff lying about the quality or origin of a particular firearm.

Always a pleasant experience when I visit. Great location, fair prices compared to some other gun stores around. Great variety, biggest Sig Sauer dealer in town.

These guys give good advice, will discuss options with you, and are just grounded, regular dudes. Prices are high, but they actually have the stuff I want. They occasionally have great deals, and prices arent so high I wont keep going. You can pay shipping and order from a bunch of web sites, or go here and pay extra but get it now. Almost always crowded, its a small shop and seems pretty popular, at least during the lunch hour.

Best gun store in this area. Forget c2 or guns etc. Staff here is way nicer, more knowledgeable and the prices are better. If you need anything, just ask them. Best customer experience is to be had here!

I honestly dont believe these bad reviews. Ive been here countless times, and never had a bad experience. I sent emails to the store and receive prompt responses. Their prices are very reasonable. Their instore stock of firearm/ammo/accessories are on point.

I recently purchased an AR15 and found out the barrel was under the legal limit for a rifle; they helped me pick out a longer muzzle break so that I wouldnt have to buy an entirely new barrel and then welded it on so that everything would be up to code. Im extremely pleased with the end result. Everyone in the store is very knowledgeable about the products they have and the rules and regulations that go with them. Simon, Steve and Aaron were a great help and a pleasure to work with!

Pretty refreshing shop, especially considering a lot of places around the valley have that typical gun store vibe. These guys are very helpful, knowledgeable, and dont treat potential customers poorly. They are also competitively priced, picked up a nice new piece for Gun Broker prices which was cool to see. Most of their competitors in the area charge around MSRP for what I was looking for.

Merchant is my absolute favorite gun shop in the valley. Great selection, prices & staff. They also do all the paperwork and fingerprints in house when buying NFA items. I highly recommend them to you!!!

The selection of parts and accessories in store here is by far the most extensive that I have seen in the valley! I was hung over when I went and didnt talk to the guys too much but they were still willing to help with anything I needed! If you want to try different AR triggers, they have a bunch set up to feel the differences between them all, which I thought was pretty clever! Will be going back soon to try them all!

I recently visited Merchant Firearms for the first time, and was VERY pleasantly surprised.The selection was very good, there were several specialty rifles, and some oddities as well (turquoise Glocks?).I spoke with three staff members, a prior Army guy, an older guy, and finally a guy named Derek. He was the only one who took the time to walk me around and answer any and all questions that I had.I found Derek to be frank and honest, a quality that scores points with me and one that we dont see much anymore.As a military member and firearm instructor, I will gladly endorse this shop to my coworkers and friends, it was a very positive experience, and I will DEFINITELY return.

These guys really know their stuff. They made my first NFA purchase a breeze. They were knowledgeable and helpful. For people who expect instant service, get over it, they are busy. I waited my turn to speak with Simon and was not disappointed. I send all my military buddies to them no matter where they live, I live up in Glendale, but the trip is worth it.

Ive been to this place a number of times, they are conveniently close to where I work so its easy to sneak in the occasional lunch visit. Everyone that Ive dealt with has been knowledgeable and professional. On my last visit I had questions about suppressors and they had me talk to Derek who apparently is their guru on the NFA stuff. He was very helpful and low-pressure and explained the various rules and how to navigate them (trusts, etc.). Great staff, great place.

Terrible customer service. The guys just sat around talking to each other the entire time. Myself and another customer werent helped at all. Neither of them even greeted us when we walked in the store. Dont bother going in or even looking at their website (just as useless as the employees). Go anywhere else, its got to be better than this place.

Hands down the best Small Business to purchase a firearm or get information on them. All of the people that work here are really chill and dont mind answering my stupid questions. They are even really cool about it when you buy a gun from somewhere else and ship it to them. Other stores in the valley get mad and degrade you but not here at Merchant. I was treated very professionally and was helped perfectly even with my limited knowledge. I first talked to the owner, which I didnt know at the time, and was given lots of great info for a beginner. They also have CCW classes (one is taught by a lawyer, another is/was by a former police officer) and have an instructor for private lessons (really great guy). Customers are also helpful with people new to freedoms like myself. Anything you cant find in the store can be ordered, but the selection they have in stock is all great quality freedoms (no junk freedoms for sale here).DISLIKES: honestly the website... But go to the store and any doubts you have will be gone. GO TO THE STORE! Hill billies... when i was looking around in this shop they had like teenagers behind the counter -- they were afraid and very reluctant to answer questions or offer assistance most likely because Im a 6 foot tall black man. When I asked questions they also very short, rude, and just not willing to explain anything. Overall the items in this store are very well over priced, and certainly not worth the time and money. Find out what you need and order online.....

Finding out in mid shipment that she was going to accept firearms to give to an individual (Michael Thomas Baker) who is not allowed to own firearms, I put a stop to the shipment and requested a return. I will not be put in a situation where I can get in trouble for shipping guns to a criminal. Merchant Firearms is a very professional business and every single employee I’ve interacted with has gone above and beyond to ensure everything is handled to the upsmost of my satisfaction. Especially Pearl, she is the sweetest and most helpful woman. As for Michael and Patricia, I have learned from law enforcement here that if she was to accept these weapons on Michael’s behalf, she could be charged with a straw purchase which is an illegal sale and would get a visit from the ATF and be charged with a FELONY. Then Both her and Michael would go to prison. I, being the kind person I am, prevented jail time for you both. You’re welcome Mother F*****s

I spotted this place by chance after eating lunch nearby. Im always happy to see a new gun store. I pulled up and parked in front of the door. I got out and walked up to the door and just as I was about to put my hand out and open the door, someone inside rushed to the door, shoved a key in, and locked it. Then they turned around and walked away and never even made eye contact. We were standing two feet apart with just clear glass between us and not so much as a sorry were closed.I acknowledge it WAS closing time but, thats just a dick way to treat a potential customer. I got the message loud and clear.

I have bought a few smaller things from Merchant over the past two years or so, and have recommended this store in the past. I do believe my previous review can still be seen here...Recently though, I decided to purchase an NFA item through them. The staff was beyond excellent in guiding me through the new requirements as an individual buying an NFA item. They have on site fingerprinting, and the photos can be done in a separate shop within the same complex, so its a simple two stops and your paperwork is on its way to the ATF.I would recommend this shop for all of your firearm needs in the east valley. They are the standard, and that standard is very high. Will continue to give them my business as long as they stay this great.

I walked into Merchant Firearms and the two clerks were busy with other customers. Neither of them would even look at me. I continued to look at the merchandise and one of the customers walked out for something so one clerk walked behind the counter to look at some items. Again, neither clerk even looked at me, much less said well be with you in a minute or are you looking for something in particular?After 10 minutes I walked out and neither clerk even looked at me walking out much less said anything to me. Ive never been completely ignored in a small shop such as this before. You would think I was invisible.

Ordered a Sig Sauer P224 in June, paid up front, and was told the firearm was ordered, and would be approximately 90 days. Called after 90 days to inquire on weapon. First guy I talked to said he would not be able to check, and the guy who could was not there. Called back later, I asked when it would be in, they said no idea. I chalked that up to them being busy, and the weapon was new. Also, I had ordered the DA/SA instead of the DAK, and the DA/SA was a new item.So I called back a few weeks later, and they said the same thing. A check with Sig Sauer showed that the holdup was due to a problem with getting magazines to ship with the firearms. Not the fault of Merchant Firearms. After that explanation, and knowing all shipments were delayed, I figured I could be a little more patient.Got the call on Black Friday, my Firearm is in! Nothing like getting an early Christmas gift. Might have to do a little bit more shopping at Merchant Firearms. They have a great store, lots of gear. Definitely worth a look.

I went in with my stepson to help him with buying his first firearm. I am from out of state and when asked about the laws in Arizona if and how I or my stepson who is a new resident could go about purchasing a firearm the guy behind the counters first words to me were nice try f__cker. As if I was trying to scam him or something. This guy is a punk and a pos. Ended up buying a gun at c2 tactical 15 mins after we left.

Went there today to get a holster and the guys in the store side were helpful but they sent me to the Sig sideand they were awful. Ive spent a lot of money there and they were cleanin kig some guys gun at the counter , he also had 50 million questions there was a line of like 4 people with no end in sight. and one guy that worked there came out of the back looked at me and went back in the back. I stood there for 20 min and Ill never go back i would rather go to walmart. Gun snob describes it best imo. I have to add that Aaron the mngr actually called me the next day to make things right. I got sick so I havent been able to go back in yet but i felt it was very commendable and I will definitely go back in and talk to him. My neighbors know them personally and knew exactly who I was talking about in my previous comment. But Aaron seems like a stand up guy! I mean how many owners actually go out of their way like Aaron, not many. You got my business bud. And I look forward to meeting you.

I am an avid gun enthusiast, Merchant Firearms is my favorite gun store in the Phx area. They always have a great selection of both guns and AR parts/accessories. I have purchased several firearms and NFA items there over the past few years, each time the price and service has been great. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to shoot the breeze when they are not busy. Simon has been very helpful with my recent NFA transfers, and I was glad to find that Derek had come onboard recently. I have been a customer of Dereks for 7-8 years and respect his work.

Merchant staff was very helpful in my decision to purchase a Springfield XDM .40 for my C&C. The challenge was they didnt have one in stock (just black, they had the 2 tone) and Simon said (lol) that they would be ordering and it would take a week to two weeks. I gave him my info, but didnt receive calls. Long story short, the order was never placed, and when I went back to discuss, he suggested that I buy online if I can find it and they would be able to receive. That is exactly what I did, I called and gave them a heads up, and sure enough when the pistol arrived, I received a call to arrange a time to pick it up.Other than the very slight miss comunication, the staff there has always been amazingly helpful, down to earth, and have treated me like a valued customer each time ive gone in there....as well as my 11 year old son who asks about a million questions each time, and they answer about a million times with a smile.I would recommend the shop (and have) to anyone in the area.

Went into Merchant to pick up my new Springfield XD Mod 2.0 and happened to arrive right at store opening, there was a little confusion right at first because the door was open but the lights were not on. Come to find out they had just received a shipment and the door was left open, but after seeing us they got situated and opened right up.I had spoke to a gentleman, did not get his name but great guy, on the phone prior to arriving to make sure they had the gun in stock. I got in to look around the salesman had already had the gun out on the glass for me to look at, on the phone I said I was on my way. We were also looking for a gun for my wife and the salesman just kept providing great information on the different models and even gave us personal experience from his wife. We narrowed it down to the Glock G42 or the Berreta Nano, and he advised us to go shoot the G42 and even said that the .380 isnt as snappy as it used to be. Well we did just that as soon as we left and my wife loved the G42. We WILL be back to Merchant to purchase this gun.In the end I purchased my Springfield XD Mod 2.0 for $490 and WILL definitely be back to purchase my wifes Glock G42. We live in West Phoenix and the drive is well worth it. Prices alone beat anyone out there, and their service and product knowledge is outstanding. Had a LEO friend drop in to Merchant after many referrals from a club in town. She spent some time in the shop asking about a particular pistol and then asked if they were a LEO dealer for that particular brand of firearm. The young man behind the counter made a quip about, Ill find a LEO discount if LEOs find a speeding ticket discount She responded with something along the lines of, Dont commit the crime if you cant pay the dime kind of retort. Apparently the mother in back wasnt fond of law enforcement and became confrontational voicing some derogatory comments about police officers. I can understand their point of view as some officers really are BOSSs(Big Old Sacks of Sh...) but the whole situation was silly to get upset about and lose a paying customer. To each their own, Merchants selection is awesome though. There are more gunshops in the valley and more customers than just her. WHY CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!?

I have purchased 2 firearms from this dealer over the last 2 years.My first trancastion was flawless, as the item was in stock, the price was fair and was a simple process.My second transaction on the other hand, not as simple. Item had to be ordered as it was not in stock (this is not the issue). I was told 7 days to receive the item. No communication after 10 days so I stopped in to inquire about my purchase. They told me it would be 3 more days. After another 5 days without communication, I called about my order. They had said it had come in. So, I went down the same day to pick it up. I arrived there and they could not find my rifle. They made a couple calls to their supplier and said it would be there the next day. And it was. They obviously had poor communication between them and their supplier as well as with their customers.Even though my last experience wasnt the greatest, I decided to give them another try. I was recently in the market for a S&W M&P Shield in 9mm. They had one in stock. They were selling it for $585+tax. Now keep in mind these MSRP for $449 and were selling for around $375-$399 when they were first released. Anyways, there were 2 men behind the counter this day. I told the man helping me that $585 was extremely high and the MSRP was $449. He just gave me a stupid look, while the other guy working behind the counter stated Have you found one of these anywhere else in stock? I said I had just started looking for one, which he replied you wont find one anywhere else. So basically these guys are playing the market and price gouging the customer. Now, I understand supply and demand and that they are a buiseness and need to pay for overhead and all that. But to charge $136 over MSRP on a handgun that retails for $375-$399 is ridiculous.Well, because of this, they have lost my business and any referrals that would have came with it.. Also, the day after I was there, I found a S&W M&P Shield in 9mm for the MSRP price of $449 at a dealer in Mesa.
