This place has the largest selection of carabiners that I have ever seen. It has to be close to 60’ of wall display space just for carabiners. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Used to be a great place, but sounds like they are having some problems with customer service. I have experienced this from time to time over the years. If you know what you want and have experience in your activity you will find your products easily. If not, maybe find advice and determine what will best suit you elsewhere, then you can avoid the inexpierienced and pregidous staff. I surmise that it is hard to find workers with the knowledge, and interpersonal skills necessary to be an outstanding employee in such an eclectic store.

Small store with a lot of merchandise. The hiking shoes have been very well fitted and hold up. Their Marino wool socks and bamboo socks never wear out. I have been equally pleased with clothing.

Came in for a little bit of climbing gear and a pair of more durable hiking shoes after a blowout. Everyone in the store was super helpful and knowledgeable. This place is what you look for in a gear shop; real hikers, climbers, backpackers, etc. that actually have experience with what gear works and what doesnt and are eager to share their knowledge and experience. Have been shopping here for all my climbing and on rope needs. The staff is friendly and more knowledgeable of gear than any joint in town. The selection is also unbeatable. They are especially awesome when they don’t have an item. They will take your info and keep updating on the status of the items via phone which is super cool! I’ve never had a boot consultant before today, and my experience here was game-changing! Olga spent at least half an hour measuring my feet and fitting me perfectly for some new hiking boots. She even taught me some lacing tricks to change the fit of my boots!I’m super thrilled with my new pair of Oboz.Aside from hiking gear, this place has climbing equipment, packs, tents, cookware, maps, all sorts of apparel, and water sports accessories. It’s like REI but better, and now it’s my go-to outdoors store.

Absolute best shoe fitting. The guy who helped me ( curly hair and glasses, wish I remembered his name) knew exactly what he was doing. I pointed out a few pairs I liked, he measured my feet sitting and standing and then asked if he could bring a few things out based on what he thought would be a good fit. He totally nailed it on the first pair! Super helpful and knowledgeable about backpacks as well. Glad I came here, the service puts rei to shame and glad to support local business.

My husband and I just went here to get new hiking shoes. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they fit us with the perfect shoe. I have used this place for many years. They have camping and backpacking rent. After renting once I bought all my gear from them. Was it a little more expensive that you can get online or through some cheap outlet? Yes, but my gear is high-quality and was expertly fitted and picked for my needs. I will continue to get my gear here. Support the small business and get expert advice versus a big retail store.

The store is organized and neat and the prices are fair but we were not very pleased with the customer service. we were helped by the cross eyes gentlemen and at first he seemed very happy to help us but we quickly came to realize that he had a very condescending tone and spoke down on us for not being 30 year rock climbing veterans as he made in clear that he was time and time again. he definitely made me feel unwelcomed and provided a poor first impression to the sport. although we still did buy equipment, we truly hope to not find guys like this on the rocks. we are sorry we visited your store .

This place is everything you could want in a rock climbing/hiking/outdoor spot. They have rentals for about every outdoor sport I can think of and their professionals really know their stuff. I would recommend this place to any level climber! I always go here before REI or any big chain bc they usually have the same stuff and the people just know the Arizona ecosystems better. They can tell you about some really cool, local rock climbing spots. Go support local and check this place out.

Helped us rent out the proper gear for our hike to Havasupai. We rented two in-frame backpacks, 2 person tent, two sleeping pads and bags (not necessary), jetboil, rat sac, hiking sticks, and a water filter (not necessary). Best prices I found for a five day rental.

Why would you post “Mask are required” on your front door when your employees inside come to customers with out one?I’ve been a customer for years and spend my fair amount of money here. Am trying to comply with the rules but when your employees/sales associate come to me asking if I need help, not wearing a mask and standing with in 2 feet, that just takes away all credibility and consideration for others.The employee was late 30s early 40s man, wearing a red shirt, curly dark hair.Management should exercise what they post!In all fairness other employees were wearing mask.Needless to say I had to leave, this guy didnt visibly had have one on hand, around his neck, or on him.

Gave my crew and I gear that broke on the hike and then blamed us for it by calling us liars. Somebody I went with had they’d pack break half way through the hike as well as many things were broken before we started. Everybody that went except for one were first time hikers and this sensitivity was not met. If you can I would advise you to go to another spot for hiking related items.

Store has a lot of great products but their customer service is horrible. I chose a bag where the price was very clearly marked and when I went to checkout it rang up for $30 more than the marked price. I showed the employee the price where all the same bags were clearly marked and asked to be given the price they clearly requested for the bag. The employee went to ask of that was possible and came back with,”sorry we cant do that, the bag was just in the wrong spot.” Which was BS as all 8+ bags were in the wrong spot then, lol. They refused to sale me the bag for the price they were clearly asking for it. Their merchandise is all over priced to start with. You have alot of other options in the area, DONT SHOP HERE!

The customer service here is absolutely amazing! Even though we werent able to use the kayaks (That we rented) because our car broke down they were so patient with us and they understood what we were going through and they were very helpful. The customer service here rocks!

I am a beginner hiker and needed a lot of guidance so i thought i would check this place out. Stopped by today with a lot of questions about hiking boots, what type of socks work best, snacks for day hikes, and questions about hydration for specific hikes. The woman who helped me was very friendly and also very informative! Not only did she get me fitted in some excellent shoes, but she explained why she thought different pairs would work well for me and taught me a lot about different brands. She also took the time to answer all of my other multiple questions and gave me a lot of advice about hiking in general. They had tons of stuff in the store, including camping stuff and hydration/backpacking packs. I will definitely return here for all of my hiking needs and would recommend to hikers of all levels!

This place has a wide selection of outdoors equipment, from bulk climbing gear to dog backpacks to large cans of freeze dried food. You can get topo maps and Tonto passes.Be prepared to have six or seven people ask you if you need help, they staff heavily for a place thats the size of my house.Everything is definitely full price. Be prepared to pay maybe even a little more here than some of the larger coop spots and for sure more than Amazon, but youre supporting local. I love the place and recommend you spend your money here.

I am based in Lincoln, Nebraska where kind people are plentiful. I am fairly new into Rock Climbing, so when I had an extra day in Phoenix I needed information. I stopped here and had a lot of questions and needed advice. I experienced the kindest most honest people I have ever met. I rented some equipment here very recently. The people who were supposed to help me could barely do their jobs because they all seemed like they were under the influence of drugs/alcohol with the way they interacted with me and my friend. Also, when I rented the equipment, I specifically asked multiple employees if I could return things after hours because I knew I would be late on that specific day. I was told multiple times that I could go around back, write a note and leave the equipment (rat sack and jetboil). On the day I was supposed to return said equipment, I called, nobody answered. I left a voicemail saying I would be 15 minutes late. When I got there, I did as I requested and left the equipment by the back door with a note. Two days later, they charged me for “lost equipment” saying they never got it. I called them and explained the situation which they denied ever happened. They did say they were gonna refund me the rental fee. I asked to speak with the owner and the owner wouldn’t even speak to me. They never gave the refund. They went ahead and charged me full price and the rental fee as well. Never renting from this place again. It’s managed by people with no sense of customer service whatsoever.

Top notch local business with that is fully capable of covering all your hiking, climbing, camping or paddle needs. I love coming here, especially for their garage sale once a year. GO HERE RATHER THAN REI!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the finest places in town to get camping/hiking gear. There are true experts to be found who know the State and what you need to set forth on the adventures you are interested in. Fair prices and great service. Plus the rental desk really comes in handy if you want to try something out before you invest in it particularly big ticket items.
