Safeway is one of the only grocery chains in the northwest that have been around for more than seventy years. Today Safeway presents a variety of stores. There are some new locations that are bright and clean offering in store bakery, cheese & deli, meat & seafood, and prepared foods and meals. There are also older locations that are not as clean, bright, and inviting. The biggest difference between Safeway today and Safeway in years past is the consistency and reliability of the products offered. There are several stores within 25 miles of my location that each have vastly different offerings of produce. One one end the fruits often have spoiled or rotting spots. The vegetables are often limited to only certain popular items. While certain othe stores have fresh, clean, ripe fruits and vegetables. They also offer wider variety and carry more species than the others. It is obvious that individual locations struggle to maintain the highest profitability, at the expense of reliable, consistent quality. From daily price increases, to personal shoppers, the struggle to maintain their market share is responsible for the loss of variety, and reliable consistent quality.

I greatly enjoy Safeway and I have a great shopping experience and the cashier was helpful I had left my Safeway Card at home and was given my discount anyway he was very helpful.

This is not only a great place to shop but its also a great place to work as well! Safeway staff are friendly and willing to help you find all your shopping needs!

Pharmacy has great staff and always friendly. They have a gas station too.

Clean, well-stocked store. The few times we have had an issue with an item, they are happy to help resolve the problem. Florist department is great.

Always fast friendly service and quality products. Great sales, weekly deals and club card savings.

I can understand they want to have their donuts fresh, but its a pretty good indication that theyre not making enough, when they are out of donuts at 10 am. Other than that, the employees are all friendly. There are plenty of check out lines, always open.

Passing through Pendleton and stopped for gas. Frank the fuel attendant was friendly and provided quick refuel service. Also cheapest unleaded fuel on i84 that I saw.

Safeway in Pendleton is really nice. Parking lot can handle travel trailer. I even saw a truck with travel trailer (25 ft) get gas.

The Store was packed but workers stayed courteous n helpful. Safeway usually has everything I usually need, if not they make efforts to secure the products.

The area that usually holds the item I was looking for, was empty. There were boxes in the isles, which led me to believe they were most likely, stocking the shelves at some point. When I finally gave up looking for an associate to assist me, I went to the register to reluctantly purchase an item that was an extremely poor substitute for what I was originally looking for. I asked the cashier if he knew of the other item being in the store somewhere, possibly to be stocked that day. Rather than attempting to find someone that knew the answer, he just said he didnt know and that the item I had, should work. Really?If I hadnt already wasted a ridiculous amount of time, unsuccessfully searching for someone to assist me and if I wouldnt have been 5 hours away from home, I would have pressed the issue. In hindsight, I probably should have because the item I ended up buying, sucked horribly. Thank you SO much for all your awesome help.

Best price for bacon I have been able to find.

Safeway does have some great sales and I like to buy meat and poultry at Safeway. Their stores are always clean. Only store in Pendleton that sells decent lump charcoal for BBQing.

Make sure you get in Zacs line he is quick and funny. Needs a raise

Seriously... Its just over priced. I understand that people hate Walmart, but its literally the only other grocery store in town and when your on a budget, paying $2 more for the same thing just isnt sensible.

Never long waits in line, great produce, and selection and paying the slight price increase for a 100% better experience than wal mart is MONEY WELL SPENT

Teri is easily the best employee there at the Safeway in Pendleton. She is always friendly, efficient, and a joy to be around. I do not go to any other checker, if shes not there I do the self-checkout. I stopped going to Safeway for over 6 months because of an employee (Kelsey) that has a major power and control issue, and who is just a down-right bully to employees and customers! Three stars because Kelsey is able to run around and be a tyrant in a store where there is no need for that. Randy, the general store manager, has been told by me alone at least 3 times about Kelsey and chooses to not put her in her place! Im calling corporate about it today because I witnessed her bullying other people. It just infuriates me to watch!

I was really surprised about the amount and diversity of ethnic foods now available in this particular area, agreeably surprised. Im having chicken tikki marsila tonight as a result. Wonderful!

Polite staff, less crowded than walmart, although I dont believe they offer masks at the door... Usually good prices though they dont always have what you are looking for...

Its like another Safeway in regards to items available and store layout. The employees at the Hermiston Safeway are curious and ready to help when you need. The store is very clean.

They have some new meals there and I’m gonna try tonight to see how they are

Not helpful! I had coupons from monopoly fsme but their system didnt take them so bad news for Safeway would suggest going to other stores that honor their coupons!

Safeway is always a good place to shop. The fruits and vegetables are cared for an always fresh. The selection is great to. A lot of dairy salads are delicious to eat. Be sure to take your own grocery sacks.

Riley rocks! This young man needs a raise, I witnessed him care for a customer ahead of me with such thoughtfulness that he should be running the store. We need more young men like Riley because too many retail stores overlook those who care for the customers they are there to serve. Exceptional young man and he needs recognition!!!

They take this made up spamdemic way too seriously I have never been treated so poorly in a grocery store by staff. How rude no I will not wear your redundant mask. It’s called a state “mandate” not LAW! What a joke of a store. Missing tiles, empty shelves, poor service, and I personally know a guy who stocks shelf’s on night stock who said the place is riddled with mice. My family and I will not be shopping there any longer. I will definitely spread this on to all my friends and neighbors, and literally anyone I talk to. Covid is over get with the program.

This is my favorite Safeway of all safeways . They will always drop what they are doing to help find even the smallest things like spices and such. I have never had them tell me oh it should be down isle 5 or 6 . They always walk down the isle and help find it. I like the meat and produce there ten times more than walmart . I would always suggest go to Safeway to shop because they are always there to help . Added bonus is that everyone there working is always friendly and greats you with a smile .
