Wow! I love this spot. Feels good to spend dollars on a community focused business rather than greedy corporate grocery stores.So. Much. Veggie/Vegan. Options. That selection alone blows Safeway out of the water. Im ashamed it took me so long to give it a shot, but Ill be coming back here a lot.

The store is nice and clean. The employees were very welcoming, polite and professional. The produce was fresh and organic and reasonably priced. This is a store that was greatly needed in the neighborhood, I suggest that anyone and everyone that can to please go and patronize this grocery store it would help our community!!

I found a good variety of groceries available here including fresh produce, frozen foods, dry goods, a snack bar, butcher with fresh meats and seafoods as well as personal hygiene and health products. There was a back-to-school promotional bagged group of items to help local school children as well. Thumbs-up for this Oakland food desert supermarket! 😀

Nice neighborhood grocery store. They have a good selection of produce at competitive prices. Think grocery outlet prices. The non produce items have less selection than a big store, but there is still plenty of choices. will go back for sure

Didnt shop, I used the ups access point. The clerk was very polite & he answered all my questions about the departure & arrival times of my package.I had tried to use a different location closer to my home, but they didnt open on time. It was more than half hour past scheduled opening time. In the future Ill bypass the closer local & go to Community Foods.

Great meat and produce selection, with all the basics including ice cream! Convenient, never too crowded, and here to serve the community. Lucky to live close by.

This place is so awesome. I love how you can find organic healthy products in West Oakland, the stuff might be a little more expensive then a corporate grocery store. However the staff is always so sweet and you can find everything you are looking for!

My 1st time here. I forgot to buy some food items at the other grocery store and thought I would try shopping here. I love the clean, safe and convenient parking lot. They have a wonderful produce dept. I was buy food for a camping trip. I bought some Aidells sausages and party food. The market carries a wide variety of deli meat.

This is a great community store that pretty much have everything you need from good produce to fresh meat in the meat dept. To a great deli who has a great local chef that knows how to cook! I rarely go to whole foods anymore because pretty much they have everything you need.

Love supporting my local West Oakland grocer. Groceries are cheap, good quality, and they have a solid selection of organic and non-organic product and meats. Really love shopping here. I would give it a knock for sometimes not carrying everything I need, but I still manage to do 90% of my shopping here. Go team!

Its right by my house so sometimes Ill run in for a quick thing or two but I cant do my regular grocery shopping here its way too expensive. Sometimes they have EBT discounts but for the most part I only come to this store if Im too lazy to go to a different store. Good for all the rich people moving into the neighborhood though I guess.

Love this market! The Cafe has great hot food at a good value and I have purchased great produce, meat, and more in the grocery store. There is also a small variety of classic and artisan sodas, which may be more regionally known in other states or rare to find in most stores. I also love that folks are friendly and I am able to quickly get what I need.

This place is going to be absolutely amazing. It is in the process and I was there for the breaking ground ceremony. Everyone from the community was there including the mayor of Oakland. Such intelligent and strong people were there to speak of how proud they were to be getting such a wonderful project completed in the area.I don’t live in the area but I wish I did because this is going to be absolutely amazing grocery store for everyone to have and I will be there for the grand opening. I had the opportunity to meet the owner and to speak with people involved in making this project become reality I was so empowered and amazed on how so many people can come together in a community and do such great things I can’t wait for this place to open up.

The store is clean and wheelchair/power scooter accessible. The employees are friendly and helpful. Some of the produce is not as fresh as it could be, and priced a bit high. The store sells a variety of items, has a refrigerated section along the back wall, as well as a frozen section in the middle isles. I havent purched any items from their refrigerated and frozen section so I do not know the quality/ freshness of the items. I find that the shelf stable items are close to expiration and priced high, if not at regular supermarket prices.For a community market it is physically accessible to the people who reside within that area/community, but it is not very cost wise for all ...

I got a UPS package from there in the past but the store is not what it advertises. But Ill say this much its clean and NEVER crowded.

Meat is always Fresh and the store is always clean. A little pricey but they have deals on certain days that make up for that as well as the freshness and customer service.

I love this store mostly because it is not 5 football fields lengths of floor space, it has a small town grocery store feel but without a ton of people. The staff there is super friendly, rarely are there lines in or out of the store and their produce and meat selection rock

Really friendly staff, clean and spacious, well stocked inventory during these crazy times, and good social distancing practice. Produces are fresh. They even have my favorite healthy Swiss cereal! Prices are reasonable. Parking is convenient. Come support your community instead of Costco’s!

This is a sweet, pretty well-stocked market in West Oakland. It has a good mix of organic/conventional foods and the staff are kind. I give it a 4 only because they have stopped doing their prepared foods (maybe just during pandemic?), which were amazing!They offer a discount if using EBT, and they are really trying to serve the local community.

Meatloaf and greens were great but the blackeye peas and rice need to be cooked longer.

Amazing owner and staff. Now if only I could get the one single security guard to honor the fact that Im an epileptic with a registered service animal it would be perfect. Besides the one single security guard everything else is incredible. They support the community and have excellent prices. A breath of fresh air in Oakland without the gentrification.

I love these guys. The market is as well stocked as can be expected in these times. Their produce is fantastic and they have tons of snacks and cookies and meats and fish and....i could go on and on. But their MEATLOAF! DUDE! I could eat this every day!

Stopped by to check this place out for lunch. The deli person was super helpful. $7.00 for an entree and two sides which I would consider a good deal for hot food. I was greeted at the door. I felt welcomed. Everything is new and clean looking. They just opened June so they’re fresh. I recommend this place.

This place is everything. The deli staff are beyond helpful, sweet and respectful, along with the little African American lady that work the registers, and a few other men I seen putting in work as well. The food is GOOD GOOD, and surprisingly AFFORDABLE!!! They have $3 $5 and $7 plates of REAL food. Jerk chicken, shrimp & grits, fish, greens , yams, and way more. Truly proud of this place, we need more community stores like this one!!!

I went shopping here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was warm and the selection was very good. I was especially impressed by the price and variety of fresh produce. The prepared foods are also quite good.

I love their meat/seafood fresh section. Always having the freshest selection and great service. Prices are great as well. All employees have always given great customer service. I really appreciate what they did for the community during COVID. #CommunityFoodsMarket

Clean, friendly staff, well knowledgeable of products available. Love the locally grown options and the deli area was open, clean and did not require you to pay before you finished shopping. There is an ample amount of parking and overall a great place to shop. The selections are not as extensive as Safeway which is up the block; but the food appears fresher and local.

Im local and I went in to buy eggs and English muffins. The eggs were supposed to cost me $2.99 and were invoiced at $5 for a dozen. When I asked and Andres the manager he said that there were no more of the $2.99 and I would have to pay the regular price $5.00. I advised him that I would not be able to shop locally if this was going to be the case. He responded rudely and so do whatever you want. I will no longer patronized this overpriced Locale as even the attitude of the employees is less than acceptable..

This place is ammaazzzinggg.I was finally close enough to shop at this store, and Ill admit I was a little scared the prices would be higher for an independent grocery store, and thats a big nope!I got all of my taco ingredients, canned goods, produce, fresh salsa, locally made tortillas, ALL for the same price I would at any other grocery store. Was impressed to see a wide variety of everything, a meat counter, vegan products, etc. There might not be 10 brands of every product, but every product you should need is there with the best value and quality products.5 stars for food accessibility and a great store!!!

I personally love this store. Community Foods is the closest store to me in walking distance. It’s always clean and it’s workers are very attentive and always willing to help.

Well-stocked, affordable market. Their bulk items and grains section is exhaustive (they have faro!).

Clean, safe, cheap, parking. Its also the first time I’ve been to a grocery store that everyone seems really happy to work at. Lots of cool vegetable variety- normally I’d have to go to Monterey market and pay way more. Definitely my new grocery store of choice.

On the one hand, I am very appreciative of the fact that this business has opened in my neighbourhood, because the area has altered in a positive way. Previously, drug~dealers and other assorted vagrants were quite common. Due to the shop opening, the Police have established a highly visible and active presence, which is wonderful. I am a USMC Combat Veteran, and I am not frightened by the previous elements, however, it is great to see that the area has improved. On the other hand, the shop itself, has limited stock and space, and not much variety. I was a bit disappointed, seeing as there are not many options for groceriesexcept for Safeway, which I truly have no problems with. Hopefully, the market will improve, the price points were not impressive.

The Oasis in West Oaklands food desert. This recently opened supermarket fills a void with groceries, household supplies, etc. The store has good variety of fresh seafood and meats. This establishment would be an asset in any community-- and is even more so appreciated for being situated in a neighborhood that has lacked a bonafide grocery store for decades.

Great for basics and pretty good looking produce. They had a good looking meat and seafood, as well as prepared foods. They are clearly still figuring what things to stock but are a welcome addition to the neighborhood and everyone was very friendly.

Great first experience! I miss the garlic Mac n cheese. I got some things for the house and picked up for a friend and I felt I got a good bang for my buck. Location is great, you can take the free shuttle from MacArthur Bart and walk fro 40th(it’s not that far a walk). I like that they had hard to find stuff and VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN OPTIONS. Very fresh food: there is a full service cafe and a deli and meat/seafood. My partner also agrees: This place is where it’s at! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👌🏽😎💰🔥

I live with a professional chef and he has not found a fresher or more pleasing display of fresh fruits and vegetables. Personally, I purchased off corporate (off-brand) strawberries that were juicy and sweet! So different from Pak N Save, up the street. I cannot say enough about the helpful employees who greet you as you enter the store and are available to help with questions. There is still room for this store and the supply of products to grow, but being a local, investor (i.e., local residents own stock in the market) owned store, its well worth time shopping.
