Does anybody know what this donut is called?!? I had this green matcha and the taro flavor and oh my god they were SO FREAKING GOOD.I live so close to them and it’s dangerous. Try this kind, whatever it’s called, they are so soso good.

If your looking for good quality donuts. This place is definitely not the place to go. The donuts are very greasy. Just didn’t hit the spot for me.

Open 24 hours this place is great if youre looking for some late night food they have breakfast sandwiches as well as a whole host of donuts and being open 24 hours, Colonial Donuts the only game in that part of town.Its a safe neighborhood and its well lighted and while there are always a few nightcrawlers hanging around theyre basically harmless I get it five stars and the graveyard shift guy hes on the ball.

I love this 24hour 365 days/year spot. The only thing Id change is the availability of the bacon donuts not being exclusively sold just on Saturdays. [What a bummer] On the bright side however, I was pleased to discover that they have ube flavored donuts [which ☺️is a purple potato endearingly popular in the Tropics|islands.]

Friendly service, clean place. The donuts were light and fluffy, not greasy at all, the coffee frappes were really tasty, not too sweet and average priced. Worth going back

I used to live right down the street for years and never tried this place, until 5 years later after I moved away to the east coast and was in town visiting friends. What a waste of being walking distance! All the extra weight gain I missed out on!The donuts are good. Especially when they are fresh and right out of the oven. I have only tried their more simple classic flavors, not the super sugar on sugar flavors. The donuts are nice, fluffy and pretty amazing depending on freshness. Like little soft pillows covered in divine sweetness!Prices are standard.Open late!A total winner, especially after a night of drinks and debauchery.

Best donuts in all of Oakland. I came in at 2 am and they were bringing out a fresh batch of the apple fritters so you know this place keeps their donuts fresh.I tried their apple Fritters and they were crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. They were not overly sweet and not oily at all. They fry them to perfection.I also tried their Maple Bacon donut and its the perfect contrast between sweet and salty, fluffy and crunchy.I highly recommend this place!

Im only getting a couple places are you because they still open to have pretty good Donuts its just I cant seem to get a straight answer about when the fresh donuts come out and as we deliver order a breakfast sandwich from there unless you want to watch the effects this and its going to microwave still make a fresh FYI you can microwave your own egg sandwich

Best donut place i have ever been to. Open 24 hours! The mochi donuts (available only Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) are amazing - great texture, the apple fritters are great and so are the cake donuts (especially ube) and the French donuts. All of these are worth trying. Probably skip the bacon maple one. Another thing you could do is get a donut that is fresh off the oven. These would melt in your mouth. Very friendly service.

It would be nice if the sandwiches were warmed up in a toaster instead of microwave.In any case, one of the few late late night spots in Oakland...so major kudos for that... theres a huge need for midnight food around these parts.Overall, local classic. Check it out if you need a cheap donut.

I love this place! No matter how many donut places I try, (and believe me, whenever I get the chance to try a new donut place, I always do!) this one always seems to have the best donuts to me! Like they’ve truly mastered the perfect amount of sugar versus dough ratio! Plus since it’s open 24/7, if you come here in the middle of the night during the week you’re bound to encounter some interesting/entertaining folks! I pray this place never closes, as it’s truly one of a kind!

Dont let the interior fool you, these are the best donuts in Oakland. The maple glazed old fashioned in particular, not that you can go wrong with anything you order.

Love this place! The owners and employees are lovely and kind. Their doughnuts are always fresh and delicious. If you appreciate classic varieties, as well as unique choices—the ube doughnuts are my favorite—head on over any time of day. I find it strangely comforting knowing that I could head over at 2am (which I’ve done) and see a friendly face. Want a real treat? Head over after 10pm and buy a fresh and still-warm doughnut. Colonial Donuts is amazing. They are open 24 hours so you can always show up when that donut craving hits. They have a wide variety of donuts from cake to raised to specials to old fashioneds. The staff is super nice and of course being safe in regard to covid. They also have coffee and other items to order. During normal times there is a nice seating area.

One of my favorite spots in Oakland. They make the most delicious donuts (chocolate old-fashioned is my go-to), have a super sweet staff and a casual neighborhood vibe. I’ve been going here since I was a little girl, and like so many other people, it has a special place in my heart. Colonial is an institution, and I can’t imagine Lakeshore without it.

Colonial is an Oakland institution. Poems have been written about it, and it’s comforting to know that it’s open and well stocked whenever you feel like going. Insiders treasure the backdoor entrance. That’s my grandchildren’s favorite approach.

The Best move I made was the U turn I took to stop at this dount shop and thats when I had an epic moment when I saw red velvet dount cake with chocolate dount at this point I was juiced but when I took a bite my taste bites had a Fiesta it was amazing,

The donuts are some of the best Ive ever tasted in the Bay! But stay away from buying drinks. Ive had a bad experience with their water bottles having some sort of particles inside. And last night I bought milk and there was rotten milk on the bottom of the cart. Stick to the donuts 😁

Im not even a huge fan of donuts, but the pure deliciousness of their pastries cannot be overlooked.I work 3 doors down from here at Hearing Zone, which is a major problem. Because I can easily check in and see what JUST came out of the oven, and is thus most ready for my devouring.Take your pick - apple fritters, pecan maple bar, chocolate bar, rainbow sprinkles, raised glazed, etc - they are all amazing. My go to is the chocolate buttermilk donut ($1.70), which has a ton of mass and that nice crunchy outside, doughy inside. Just writing about it makes me want to snatch one, which is dangerous because (again) its only 3 doors down from my work. Cold-cut sandwiches are quite good as well.When that sugar craving hits, look no further than Colonial Donuts. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Try one of them, try all of them!

Love this place. Ive been going to Colonial Donuts since I was in high school back in 1996.

I found my donut shop. Their glazed French cruller is addicting with very balanced sweetness. I also tried their ube donut cake with crumbles. I hope they never run out!

The only place I know of that has plain Buttermilk Bars freshly made every day. You have to get there early, though. Shop is open 24/7 and the plain ones are gone by 9am... Never-ending fresh, decent cheap coffee, too. Even during the pandemic. Used to be a local haunt at any hour of the day, but not while under Alameda County Health Officer pandemic direction. No indoor seating is available.

Total classic, old school donut shop at its finest. Havent been in years, thats not saying anything bad, its just the truth. If you want some of the best high quality donuts in the East Bay, this is the place to go for sure.

The best time to go here, or for that matter, any donut place, is the middle of the night when the donuts are still hot. Right around when the bars close, the raised donuts are coming out of the fryer. You have not lived until youve had a piping hot, fresh raised.

This shop should give serious consideration and thought towards changing their name and entirely remove ‘colonial’. Even a passing thought of anything colonial itself is a strong deterrent and screams uninviting.
