I like oaklandish and they have some unique designs. They also support local artists and give to the community. I think its kind of a myth that they somehow contribute to or encourage gentrification. Theres plenty of room in Oakland for local artists to thrive.

Cool Oakland themed clothing store.Small foot print, creative tees, and prices are relatively steep.Should have known considering the store is located in the heart of downtown Oakland, which is prime real estate.Customer service is friendly.I passed right by the store.Had to call in for help.The young lady that directed me was kind enough to walk out of the store and flag me down.Consider this if you are a first time visitor like me.The store, although opened, was actually boarded up. I mention this to explain why it was so easy to drive by.Another minor inconvenience is the lack of a designated parking lot. The only parking available is along the street, and it’s metered.Aside from that, it was a cool shop. They put some thought and care into the layout and design.

Great store. caution: their designs come and go. Ive thought Id wait to buy a shirt then find out a design is forever gone. in other words buy it while it lasts?they support local artists and have more than clothes at their store. I have seen some of their shirts at the Oakland As store inside the Coliseum.employees are great. great vibes. I have gifted shirts here and sent them overseas.(saying that youre from Oakland-ish instead of San Leandro, Alameda, etc. makes sense. I usually say SF Bay; SF East Bay to be exact)

After a recent trip to the East Bay, I ordered some Oaklandish items off of Amazon. There was a bit of snafu with one of the items ordered not actually being available, and another not fitting right when it arrived, but I love the other stuff so much I decided to place another order. This time from their online store. They have an awesome selection, from embroidered hats to screen-printed shirts to Starter jackets. Theyve got reasonable prices (By Bay Area Standards). Again, their was a problem with my order. This time with delivery. After emailing them, and pointing out the problem, they immediately resolved the issue, getting my items to me swiftly. Bottom line: They have an crazy selection of cool gear but theyre a little rough around the edges when it comes to keeping track of their inventory, and their orders. Will definitely order from them again, and even drop by the store the next time Im in The Bay.

This is a great city, and this is one of the best flagship supporters this city could ever have!My favorite brand of clothing since they were operating out of a tiny little warehouse space just a few blocks away from me. Great quality clothing (the sweatshirts run a bit small, but just grab one size bigger), really cool designs, and over the years, they have really managed to turn into an Oakland tour de force, supporting local artists of all types, and giving everyone in the Bay Area a whole host of reasons to see Oakland in the same way I have for 10+ years.

It was alright , I went in and thought it would look more Oakland-ish! There were some alright designs like the transformer bart, there was no cool oakland lettering shirts, Oakland is known for having some of the most dope Lettering artist! there was no oakland icons, sideshows, nothing hyphy Is it just a tourist spot? Employees were pretty dope though ,i hope the prices were that high because they get commission off of the shirts thats the only reason i spent money there!

Great t & hoodie design. They have some children and baby clothes and and some cool stationary and a few random trinkets. Good quality. Ive given a few shirts to friends as gifts and they have really liked them. The sizes can run a bit small sometimes. The customer service is always great and friendly. The prices are a bit high but good local quality. Greatly recommend! 😊

The brand looks really washed down and not welcoming to an Oakland native , didn’t really reflect Oakland for what it is, mostly for what the new gentrifiers , the price also shows who can afford to shop there, the brand used to be cool before I left in 2009 , I think the owner is from out of town too

So just had to do it. I had to go to one of my favorite fashion spots and write about them. This is a little different for me because I usually to write about food. Its kind of strange but for some reason Ive been very nostalgic about the Bay area. I grew up here.... And things are changing so much we have imported people from different spots coming around gentrifying the neighborhood, which bring different dreams and changes the vibe of the place, I love so much. In which is not bad, but seriously makes me feel like... I dont know where I am from at times. I am bayarea breadcrumbs. So, places like oaklandish really speaks to me. It Just gives your city ...not just city pride, but Bay area pride.The place has two flagship stores. It is a fashion retail store located in Oakland. I was told that everything sold in the store that is screen printed helps benefit local non-profit type things.I remember when this place used to operate outside of an art gallery in Jack London square around 2005. And then around 2011 they opened a downtown store, I would often see oaklandish sell their stuff at the eat real festival too!But the truth was I didnt have any money to buy their stuff... Most recently oaklandish partnered with Dame Lillard(who is from oakland) to make a limited design for a basketball shoe.In speaking of basketball I just have to say it but the Golden State Warriors Jerseys there is one that I really think Oaklandish built and made for them, (whomever thier designers are).The heart of Oakland. To me...Is the Oracle arena, in which the warriors will be leaving, Yet, places like Oaklandish are mini staples built In the style to which helps Generate, Nostalgia, history, of where the bayarea was, is, and is heading.Pretty soon, when I can no longer afford to stay in the bay. Due to the higher cost of living, and as the us census will tell us California is overly populated from kids from Nebaska and Colorado moving to the bay area for tech jobs with thier used vinyl collection, and Welsh corgis...I will long gone from here, but what I will forever be wearing is my Oaklandish t-shirts!I salute you Oaklandish for telling the story of the bay, with fashion.

Cool tshirt place. They have a different approach to buying clothes. I guess its like a clothing bar. You see what you like and a person comes around and asks you what size, and goes and finds it. So mostly all the clothes you see are a display. I like the concept. You know your going to get good customer service. A little pricey but the have cool stuff and its for a good cause.

Not immediately obvious in Google Maps description and reviews, Oaklandish is a community-oriented brand that collaborates with The Town Kitchen, The Hidden Genius Project, Youth ALIVE!, and Community Education Partnerships (CEP). The company donates to and sponsors a long list of organizations in Oakland, though the website is not specific about the size of their contributions. These causes can justify the prices for some customers, but from what I can tell, the store attracts those who can afford to show their Oakland pride. They sell relatively good quality goods with interesting Oakland based designs. This physical store is pretty large and organized.

I absolutely love this store. It is my to go place for when I want to get local gift for people living outside of the Area. However, today for the third time one of the items I purchased was charged at a higher price than tagged/advertised. I wan unable to get a refund for the difference in price, was not offered a simple apology for the inconvenience. I asked to be assisted by a supervisor or store manager, and the blame was just put on to their warehouse. WATCH OUT FOR YOUR NEXT PURCHASE, CHECK YOUR RECEPT BECAUSE CHANCES ARE THAT THEY ARE OVERCHARGING YOU.

(Disclaimer: I have done some photo work for Oaklandish in the past) I was always impressed with the community work that Oaklandish has done. In fact, that is how I got involved with them. I think I saw their t-shirts at an event in Oakland and decided that I really wanted an Oaklandish shirt since I was back in East Bay after spending a number of years in Santa Cruz. The Oaklandish store on Broadway has a wonderful variety of cool clothing and gear for just about anyone. The layout and design is clean and hip. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Periodically they hold various events at the Broadway location. For example, last night they did a Q&A with some of the case from the movie Sorry To Bother You which was filmed in Oakland and directed by Boots Riley. If you are looking for a gift that represents the Bay or just some dope clothing (shirts, hoodies, hats, jackets, etc.), then Oaklandish is the place to go!
