Came to door bell during working hours and no one responded

AVOID until they improve customer service. I love Oakland and love supporting local businesses. It saddens me to write this review but I have not received the product or heard back after many attempts on my end. I called a week before Valentines day to make sure the online order would arrive in time. The person on the other end assured it would be with plenty of time. I placed the order online but the order never arrived. Ive emailed several times before for status update but no response (I feel totally disregarded and disrespected). Ive tried calling and they dont pick up and their mailbox is full. In contrast, every time Ive ordered from Michael Mischer Ive received impeccable chocolate and service (he even hand delivered to my house!).

I hate to do this to a small business, but unfortunately I have to report a bad experience.I placed an online order on December 3rd thinking I’d receive the chocolates in time to give them out as holiday gifts.After 10 days I followed up via email to see when the order would ship, but I received no response. Again I emailed, again no response.All attempts to follow up via phone during their business hours are sent to a full voicemail box.It’s now been a month, and I’ve had to report the charge to my bank to dispute the transaction so I can get a refund.Very disappointing.

Sent my mother inlaw chocolates for her birthday. The money was deducted, she never got her chocolates, and I have emailed twice with out a repsonse.

They provide factory tours and you can buy individual candy selections or gift boxes. Lots of choices. Favorite has to be the French Mint. They also have sugar free selections.

Dont order from here, havent shipped product for nearly a month and customer service doesnt respond.

As a discriminating chocolate lover, Barlovento’s delectably gorgeous truffles are absolute show-stoppers! My favorites (so far!) are the Zinfandel, Fleur de Sel ave Carmel, Dark Chocolate with Cocoa Nibs, Cardamom and Honey, Espresso, and Whiskey Ginger. This may change since I’m scheduling a chocolate tasting next time I’m in Oakland! I can’t wait to try the famous Creme de Mure with blackberry liqueur infused with dark chocolate, the spicy Mayan Hot Chocolate, Venezuelan Hot Chocolate, spicy Chili de Arbol with an apricot puree reduction paired with dark chocolate, and the Strawberry Balsamic truffles.As for Barlovento’s chocolate confections, the Super Heavenly Peanut Butter Pâté Bars, Toasted Coconut Haystacks, Carmel Pecan Turtles, and Fleur de Sel Caramels are divine, and I look forward to trying the English Toffee and Honeycomb.Treats from this family-owned chocolate company are worth going out of your way for, so treat yourself, already, and buy local while you’re at it!

THIS CHOCOLATE IS AMAZING. My friend and I just stopped by and were able to grab some chocolates to go even though he wasnt fully open, due to covid of course. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything we got was delicious (chocolate covered orange peels, caramels, toffee) but the real gems are the truffles. I got a 4 pack and it was not enough! The mint ganache tasted like a fresh mint leaf. The Meyer lemon tasted like fresh sweet Meyer lemons. The Jamison whiskey was like a little shot. I cannot give this chocolatier and his chocolates a high enough rating and review. Go get some freaking chocolates! You will not regret it. I will be back soon.

Very unique truffles

I always considered myself a “candy” guy until I discovered these delicious masterpieces. I came across Barlovento Chocolate at a local farmers market where they were handing out samples of their expresso truffle which was so tasty that I couldn’t walk away without grabbing several bars.I was delighted to find that they have a really user friendly website where I could order some goodies from the comfort of my home. I really love their toasted coconut haystacks, Bourbon candied bacon peanut brittle, and their almonds are also amazing if you are into nuts.I also recently realized they can make custom chocolate business cards so I ordered some for my solar company. I cant wait until they come in!Overall I enjoy supporting local businesses, especially when their products are so tasty!

I had the absolute luck of tasting these chocolates during a Farmers Market. Im from out of town, and just happened to stop by the market when I saw his stand. After a taste test, I knew I was hooked. I got four chocolates.... and oh dear. These are the kinds of chocolate you savor every second of. The kinds of chocolates you better not chew - but just let melt in your mouth as you get all the flavors. These are the chocolates you hide from everyone in the house.The flavor is strong without being overwhelming and the texture smooth and creamy. Im a chocolate lover to the core, and have yet to come across better chocolates - even in my foreign travels. I believe I will rave about these forever.

I was introduced to Barlovento Chocolates at food event in Berkeley. I am a fan of salted caramel and their Fleur De Sel Caramels are the best! Their other offerings are great too!

Barloventos chocolates are divine. Impeccable quality, gorgeous presentation, and a great local company. 10/10 recommend.

We visited and learned about their chocolate, sampled it, got a tour of their kitchen and learned how everything is made, and actually got to make some bars ourselves to take home. First of all the chocolate is excellent, both the chocolate itself and all of the confections they make with it. But theyre also very friendly and accommodating. Great way to spend an afternoon. I would definitely recommend scheduling a visit. Otherwise, you cant go wrong with simply buying their products.

To get in, you need to ring the door bell because the place looks closed even when open.The chocolate and truffles are delicious yet quite pricy, hence the 4 star rating, which would be 5 for quality + 3 for value = 4 overall.The store was dark and the display empty when I got there, but I wasnt there for ambiance so I dont mind.The proprietor is friendly and let us sample different varieties.I would definitely recommend a visit while on Oakland.

The best chocolate I have every had!!! The bars with the candied orange are my favorite, but I have loved everything that I have tried!!
