It was truly a miracle that Chloe Castro at Preservation Arts restored this Murano Glass Vase to its original beauty. I love this vase and was heart-broken when I accidentally knocked it over. I was afraid it was a lost cause. No one else would even touch it. One expert insisted that the only option was to cut the top off! It still feels unbelievable to look at it now as if it was never broken. I am grateful beyond words to Rowan and Chloe .

I recently purchased an Art Deco George Maxium spelter (a zinc alloy) sculpture that was severely damaged during shipping. I contacted Rowan Geiger of Preservation Arts about the possibility of having it repaired. Robin Bernard evaluated the damage and said that spelter as a lightweight alloy is difficult to repair and that matching the color of the patination would also be very challenging but they were willing to try. During their thorough evaluation of the sculpture they were also able to identify damage to the girl’s foot that left un-repaired would eventually fail as it bears the weight of the girl. I was stunned by the spectacular results of the repairs. I took before and after photos, that help to show there is no visible evidence of any damage! I thought they must have re-patinated the entire piece, but they assured me they didn’t - it is amazing how good the repairs are. I can’t recommend them enough. I have other items that I am in the process of submitting for repair.

Preservation Arts - Fine Art Conservation just completed a small conservation project on a valuable, 1930s painting by an important American artist. Rowan Geiger and her business were recommended to me by a senior curator at a Bay Area museum. The team also prepared a condition assessment and photographs, which were shared with the artist’s estate/foundation. Simply put, they did excellent work, well documented, and were extraordinarily professional, as you should expect from a top tier conservator.

Preservation Arts - Fine Arts Conservation shall not disappoint. When asked why I travelled from the U.K. to California just to repair my Wedgwood bust, the answer was clear; I simply wanted the best.

My family had a treasured, unusual piece--a figurine of a dancer whose costume was made of porcelain-dipped fabric. Needless to say she was extremely delicate. Chloe, the restorer with whom we dealt, had never seen anything like her, and yet the meticulous repair is completely undetectable. We were treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. Communication was reliable and trustworthy. I give Preservation Arts the highest possible recommendation.

Rowan and her team of certified experts have been restoring pieces for me for years. Theyre the only ones I trust with delicate antique pieces, whether its a 150-year-old bible, an antique dresser, a fire-damaged painting, feathers, laquered metal, palm-frond scrolls or delicate gilded wood. Their work is impeccable and their communication/customer service is very very good. I have high standards for any work done on my collection, which is why I work with certified conservationists only. I cannot recommend Preservation Arts highly enough.

Immaculate work! My broken family heirloom, a wood crucifix, was not only repaired to perfection, a detail description about the piece (types of wood, construction, origin etc.) was unexpectedly provided. Highly recommend Preservation Arts! I cannot thank or recommend them enough.

I am extremely happy with the results of the restoration of my early 19th century Irish primitive painting by Arts Conservation. They are beyond believable in terms of gracious professionalism, skillful restoration and on-going clear dialogue about the process. Stephanie was the person who I dealt with the most, and she was wonderful. I always got clear and informed input about every stage of the process. The pricing was fair, and I can really see why most of the major San Francisco Bay Area art museums go to them for restoration issues. They even gave me additional great advice about restoration of my limited edition book by Lewis Carol (Alice Through the Looking Glass) and the 3-book case.. I couldnt be happier.

Based upon a reference from the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, we contacted Preservation Arts in April 2019 regarding the evaluation and possible restoration of our family painting, dated 1625, from the Dutch artist Thomas de Keyser, oil on oak panel. Stephanie did a very thorough and thoughtful evaluation on the state of the painting. After her review she provided us with several options on how to proceed with the painting. She took a conservative approach in order to preserve the integrity of the painting. During the two month process she conferred with us many times, explaining her findings and providing guidance on our choices on how to proceed. We were extremely impressed by her attention to every fine detail. She knew that this was a very precious piece having been in our family for 400 years and 14 generations. The detailed final report explained every step she took in the process, what had been done to the painting and frame. Before and After detailed pictures. Incredible.Customer Service was second to none!Expertise in their field was evident during every step of the process! We sent the report to an art historian and researcher who is an expert in Dutch/Flemish art at the National Gallery of Arts in Washington D.C. Based on her expert opinion the painting was treated with the attention and white gloves service that a 400 year old painting truly deserves.Thank You to Stephanie and Rowan at Preservation Arts. You have insured that the 15th generation will be able to continue to enjoy this family treasure!
