The baked goods are awesome, but it’s very upsetting that we aren’t able to pay ahead with a card and pick up orders. I live far away about a half hour drive, and call to see what pastries they have. But then when I get down there, everything is already gone. “First come first serve at the window” only…I wanted to place an order and pay with my card then come down to pick up, like legitimately every other place in the area does and apparently that’s not possible. There’s really no point in me coming down here anymore because even when I call, I get told what’s available, and by the time I get there, everything is sold out. Very very frustrating.

Went around noon, they were sold out of everything but their rosemary and walnut scone, and it was a top notch scone. Amazing.

They are the best bakery in the region, and everyone knows it. Eco conscious too, delicious bread, baked goods, and pizza. Fun hippy kid staff, cool flower and sculpture garden, and biobags in their big trash cans. Awesome.

Absolutely delicious bread items. Got a scone for the drive home and a French round for once we were back in NY. The scone was absolutely delicious and the bread...oh my...the bread. Crust is sturdy and the interior has a very delicious and unique flavor. Ill even forgive it for slicing my inner cheek open, its that tasty.

The Hungry Ghost can boast some of the best products across the board anywhere. I was checking them out for an early morning nosh and have not stopped going back for 9 years. I remember that first day like it was nine years ago...but I have never forgotten the crumbling richness and inherent goodness and wholesomeness of the ingredients. The products made at this place are designed by artisans like food should be! From their chocolate walnut cookies 1 inch thick and rich as a piece if fudge but somehow it melts in your mouth delightfully

This is the best place to get fresh Sourdough Bread in Northampton! It’s so fresh and warm when handed to you. The crust is crispy and the inside is as soft as a pillow. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Visit next time you’re in town!

This is a local GEM. Best bread for in the area for miles. They have developed a particular starter that has a unique taste you can’t find anywhere else. It’s a MUST of you are new to North Hampton or just passing through.

This place has good bread. Like most places run by millennials it’s frequently out of everything so go early or don’t expect to find anything on the shelf.

Lovely and delicious. Worth it to drive all the way from Lowell! The breads had a nice crispy crust, good and chewy inside. The pastry we tried was buttery, flaky but not disintegrating, lots of tender layers. I tried a chocolate chipotle cookie: it wasnt too sweet and had a nice smoky warm flavor. We also tried the potato herb bread and it was so good and flavorful - the whole drive home the car was filled with the scent of garlic and rosemary and fresh bread.The garden outside is pretty and interesting as well but - go there for the bread!

We got two chocolate chip cookies and rosemary bread. The bread was warm and smelled so good! On our way home we couldn’t stay out of it, it was so delicious. I can’t wait to try the cookie. I wish we lived closer, I would be a regular. We’ll definitely be back though. Service was quick and friendly too. I like paying on their website, very convenient. We need more places like this.

Hungry Ghost employees are rude and try to control their customers. I stopped at the Hungry Ghost on Saturday September 5th 2020. There is NO one allowed into the business. It is a walk up window to order, kind of like a drive through, but you walk up. You order and then you pay for the food on an app so that the business doesnt have to handle money. Being that I was OUTSIDE and NOT inside the business I did NOT have a mask on. The business refused me service. Before I could even order, two rude women in the business said you dont have a mask, without a mask we will not serve you, that is our policy and then they shut the window. DO YOU WEAR A MASK AT A DRIVE THROUGH? WALK THROUGH WINDOW IS NO DIFFERENT. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE EVER AGAIN! THESE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO CONTROL THEIR CUSTOMERS. I SUGGEST OTHER PEOPLE DO NOT SHOP HERE. WISH I COULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS!

Best bread you will ever sink your teeth into!!! Excellent artisan bread made on the premises in a wood fired oven. Rotating varieties of breads and pastries. Excellent breads, just excellent! My favourite is their Semolina Fennel, because it is a sourdough bread, has seeds in it, and is a wonderfully pungent buttery sweet taste. I always buy two loaves because one loaf never makes it home. Yum!!! A+++!!!

Theres probably some way the Hungry Ghost could be better... Is their bread organic? Im not sure since I couldnt find that on their website. However, thats my only critique. Their bread is outstanding. Their desserts are divine. Never would I have ordered a banana cream tart, but my husband brought it home yesterday, and holy bananas, that was DELICIOUS. I have never had the pizza, but I will make that change soon. Dont miss this gem of a bakery. The best of the Valley, and maybe anywhere.

This is the best place in the area to get your bread. Better than Bread Euphoria by a mile, and more consistent and convenient than Small Oven. I have heard great things about the pizzas but have never had them due to dietary restrictions.The pastries are always incredible, just ask for whatever they have as the daily offering, you will not be disappointed!

Fabulous bread! Pulled off pieces of the loaf in my car because I couldnt wait to get home. Toast for breakfast with REAL bread was delicious. I am looking forward to using it to make the best grilled cheese sandwiches and to enjoy with butter and jam in my future meals. What a tremendously wonderful flavor and texture I have not experienced since traveling to Europe.

This might be the best bread in all of New England. It is truly spectacular. They have a baking schedule available on their website so its good to check before heading in. The pastries are delicious, as well and they often have a vegan option. If you are passionate about bread, youll love the ghost.

This bakery is one of our favorites in the world. Its an incredibly down-to-earth group of people, making bread all day and all night. Every time we visit Northampton Massachusetts we make this a regular stop. Today we were lucky enough to get the country loaf right out of the oven. It took us 5 minutes to let it cool down, but then we couldnt stop eating it as we sat outside in the beautiful late summer afternoon. This is how we celebrate our 24th anniversary. Life is good.

Are they worth driving an hour round trip? Absolutely! We love their rosemary, olive & semolina, potato and thyme, spiced sweet rolls, and especially their buttermilk biscuits.They dont have everything on a daily basis, so be sure to check their baking calendar. I just wish there was a way to know ahead of time what theyre out of and whats still in stock. Doesnt matter, if they dont have what I am craving, they always seem to have something new worth trying.

On Saturday (6/23/18) my girlfriend and I stopped by this place to grab a pizza. Quaint shop, very nice people - a great selection of breads to choose from as well! The Florentine was amazing...first time having an egg on pizza and it was a delight. The crust was unique as well, had a sourdough taste that was different but very good. I just moved here from Philadelphia two weeks ago and plan on frequenting this business much more!

The best bakery, super informative and friendly staff, bread is out of this world. I still need to stop by for pizza though. We always stop by when we are in the area. For those wondering, you just walk in and order whatever bread and sweets you want, there is no inside eating space. Pizzas are take out only and only served during specific times.

Hands down the best bread in New England. Ive gladly walked 2 miles in a blizzard to pick up one of their loaves. Theres a lot of hippy cred that this place can claim for its handcrafted loaves, locally sourced grain, and wood fired oven, but even if you dont list out all the buzzwords this is the bread you want on your table for every family gathering.

Quaint and mindful bakery that uses a state-of-the-art oven and high quality, organic ingredients. Product is generally excellent, but quality control is inconsistent and supply unpredictable. Do not be surprised if the crackers or pizza dough you buy are different every time and if they have run out of bread at 4pm (!)

No matter where you live, this local bread is worth the drive. Simple pure and fresh ingredients and when you get one warm from the oven is heaven in a bag. There over rotating variety never ceases to impress. They have expanded to offering pizzas later in the day. I have not personally had one,. It have heard great things. Be sure to get there early as one they sell out the days batch there is no more till the next morning.

SO GOOD. The bread, AMAZING, the pizza, AMAZING, the service, AWESOME. Something of note for anyone not from around: There isnt place inside to sit and eat. So, if you want food plan to be taking it to go to either sit outside(on a ledge thing, not actual set up chairs[at least when I went]) or take the food home with you to eat. Honestly, my partner and I were so excited that we ate most of the bread in the car on the way home, oops! Anyways, awesome, awesome, place.

Wow! I had the Everything Biscuit and Sweet Potato & Red Onion Pie, which were the best biscuit and savory pie Ive ever had. I felt like I could taste every ingredient of the pie so vividly. As an out-of-towner, I highly recommend any visitor to the city stop by this amazing bakery. Theres little chance you regret it.

If you appreciate a sour dough bread (and really, everything else is second best!) you will swoon for a loaf hot out out of the oven from the Hungry Ghost. Nirvana is a leisurely, early Saturday morning visit with the whole space infused by the aroma of the morning bake and the golds and browns of the still warm breads lined up before you on the racks. You are hereby challened to make it back down the walk without tearing a chunk off that delectable loaf to nosh it right there and then before you reach the side walk. Take some away to break it with bare hands that evening with cheese, a good wine and in good company. Take one extra and practice a random act of gourmand kindness on an unsuspecting friend or neighbor. Bravo to the HG team!

Hungry ghost is my favorite local bakery. Their bread is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The pizza is also incredible. I definitely recommend calling ahead for orders of both pizza and bread!

Best bread pretty much anywhere, hands down. The olive or potato fougasse is amazing! Pastries are also really good & not overly sweet. Pizza can be transcendental or just good, depending on the night.

Some of the best bread I have ever had. Cash only make sure you bring extra. They usually have different things. I usually get the french bread love it when it is hot. They also have great cookies. The service is not great it is mainly a bakery that seems to service businesses. They do have pizzas was not impress with the one I got.
