The staff is always friendly and helpful to my family. We enjoy coming in and taking our time to find the right book, but we have even given a few recommendations that have turned out to be great. We all have different tastes in books and they have something for all. The magazine section is good and there are plenty of seats if you want to have a coffee or a snack. They have school supplies and electronics as well to help you get through your day. I will continue to be a loyal customer. Great job guys!

I’ve been going here since I started TCC in 2018. The staff is always friendly and helpful. However, for the current program I’m in it has gotten a little worse. One of the required materials is a mystery bundle, they don’t say on the website what books are included. I picked mine up yesterday for the ungodly amount of $452.58. I already have two of the books which I bought for $40. There’s only 3 books in that “substantial cost saving bundle”. That’s ridiculous! Almost $1000 total for a community college two year program! I have absolutely nothing against this store, but that is not the best price I can find for the required materials, especially considering that doesn’t cover all the books. For that price I expect all the required books.

Beautiful store with a very friendly and professional staff. I was acknowledged immediately once I entered the store. They were really busy however, the wait time was not long at all. Id definitely revisit the MacArthur Barnes and Noble for my future needs.

I look forward to your eventual insolvency. Its already bad enough that I have no choice but to get my college books from this overpriced bookstore. I recently purchased a used book from Barnes and Noble online. I was charged for a new book in error and then told they were sold out of used books. I then received a rather worn and very obviously used book despite being charged for a new one. Classes ended on Friday December 18th. I came to the store to get my shamefully low exchange but was told the return period ended December 14th. When asked why the window closed while classes were still in session, I was told I dont know why we did that this yearIve had enough and will no longer purchase anything from you. I will find these books online from some other source. Your greed has lost you another customer.

The woman working the register was so kind! She was even unnecessarily kind to my kids who had just had a bad experience at another store!This is why we always choose B&N!

Its a quaint shop; Ive seen little restaurants nearby supermarkets that are larger than this store. But seriously, the one at MacArthur is larger, though surprisingly thats even not so big itself.The employees there are chill; youll get a home-like feel walking in. A little clustered, but navigable.Of course, youll need your ID to make any transaction there, otherwise you wont get a thing

This store is located in MacArthur Mall on level 3. There is a coffee shop at the store entrance. The tempting aroma of rich coffee and delicious pastries greet you as you enter, filling the air with a sense of comfort in your surroundings. There are abundant displays of every kind of book imaginable but it is not overwhelming as all topics are clearly marked. They also carry a nice assortment of electronic accessories and art supplies. Half the store is dedicated to use as a Tidewater Community College Book Store with all the items student need. I enjoyed my visit.

Busy textbook area. Three employees assisting a line 20 people deep, while the rest of the store is virtually empty.I applaud Barnes & Noble for reinventing themselves in an era of digital everything. That said, textbooks and looseleaf class materials shouldnt cost hundreds of dollars!No worries, according to the staff, you can RENT a book for that sells for $130 new for a mere $70 a semester! Just return it in the same condition you received it. Seriously? Rented books for over half the cost of new books? Also, the cost of notebooks, binders, pens and pencils are triple the cost of other retailers.I love books - I even have a huge collection of them. I dont understand why textbooks for 5 classes costs as much as monthly rent for an apartment. No wonder people complain about the cost of education.

Barnes & Noble is always a great place, Starbucks coffee is as good as any other Starbucks. They always have a great selection of magazines and books of course. The kids section its pretty nice too. They also have a pretty cool toy section that I like to browse from time to time although some of their prices can be a little high but then sometimes theyre really good if you find something that has been discounted. This has always been the go-to place for most of my school books, and thats always beneficial because Barnes & noble tcc have a thing together so the books can be charged to your financial aid.

This bookstore is great. Its two well organized levels of new books and products with very helpful staff. The staff are knowledgeable of new books and give great recommendations on what you should read. Plus, theres a Starbucks on the second level. So enjoy a good book and coffee like I did. Its a nice environment to sit and relax.

If I could I would live here. The staff Id amazing and super helpful. Every time I walk in Im greeted with a smile and a friendly hello! The employees are knowledgeable about most of the books they carry in store and if they dont have an answer they have no problem finding it for you. Super clean and an amazing place to go in order to indulge in my reading addiction!

I have been coming here since 2017 and todays staff was by far the most untrainedIve ever seen in there. Three different workers and nobody could answer my questions without asking a supervisor first. While it was understood by the other customers and myself, that the store was in the midst of the back to college rush,I waited 45 minutes just to pick up a book that was ordered online a week ago and another 30 minutes to purchase other items. The manager was doing what she could to assist but the young man ,Tyler needs to definitely be retrained. Saddest part is B&N is one of the only reasons I visit this mall. NEVER AGAIN.

Its hard to find many things wrong with a Barnes and Noble, however I will say the lack of board games had surprised me seeing how they had an extensive variety of games Ive never heard of. On the other hand they had new games Ive never heard of which is a positive point in itself. They of course carry Dungeon and Dragon Starter kits and a few campaigns which is always cool.

This Barnes and Nobles located inside the MacArthur Mall stretches over two floors. It has all the extras that Barnes and Noble can come with. Magazine wall, Starbucks and lots of extras like cubs, backbacks etc. It also partnered with TCC and has a college bookstore located inside. I have been there several times and the staff was always friendly and helpful.

Definitely has to be one of my favorite stores ever. The people who work here are always so kind and knowledgeable. Plus theres usually a coffee shop in these, where you can grab a book off the shelf, bring it up, get a coffee and sit there and read and relax. Amazing atmosphere. They have books on everything you could imagine too!

These people do not pay attention to the customers. When they discovered they overcharged me the displayed an impressive inability to use the register and actually tried to charge me a second time for something I didnt order or want. I decided to leave and let them keep my money to avoid paying more for their mistake and was not even offered an apology for not knowing how to do their jobs!!!

I was in and out to pick up some textbooks. The process was super fast. I gave my name, showed my ID and my books were brought to me in only a few minutes. The nice woman at the pick up desk if even mentioned not take take the plastic off until after class started just in I needed to return it.

They try to help out from time to time but they are mainly after your money but its a fine establishment otherwise.

Nice store, unfortunately they do not honor the sales of Barnes & Noble online. Most books are much cheaper online (all the game of thrones books were roughly 40% off). However you can use the pickup in store option while you are in the store but be prepared to wait up to an hour for it to process.

Store was fairly clean. I took my nephew with me this visit. He loves Legos. They appear to have a big selection. The down side was if we were to buy one Lego set, we would have to keep asking the employees for a price check. No prices were on the boxes of Legos. So our initial take is that these sets are overpriced & decided to keep moving.

The store is pretty neat its got a lot of cool different sections in a wide variety of books. about the only drawback is that its affiliated with a college bookstore so a lot of the coupons dont work there because they dont want you to get too big of a discount. other than that though if you really need a book and you dont want to wait for it thats definitely a place to check out also good place to just kill some time and browse.

I could get lost in here and not miss the world. I love Barnes and Noble. This location is kept clean and organized.

I go to Barnes & Noble @TCC for my textbooks and school supplies. They accept fasfa through my student card which is very convenient and useful. I also get backpacks and school supplies for my son whos a freshman in high school. The supplies are generally priced the same as Wal-Mart if not just a little higher, but the quality and availability of products are far better. The associates Ive encountered were extremely helpful.

This place was great! Awesome selection of books and, when I asked for help, the young lady who worked there was super helpful and made great suggestions for both my kids. I really enjoyed browsing the stacks here.

Very nice. The Starbucks was great and a very nice menu to choose from that was easy to read. Had 2 floors that had an elevator and stairs . Highly recommend stopping here

Variety of books to purchase. Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. You can shop and sample books before purchasing. Many wall charging areas to make it easy to do school work. The workers are very helpful in helping you find items needed to purchase, or they will order it.

Maybe new management? Big ticket item. Geared towards students with learning challenges. Its a two part device. Theyre trying to phase out the device and are selling only one part of the equipment without offering the other part. They know the device can not work without the other part. I brought it to the attention of management and they have no intention of letting buyers know the device cant run without the second part. Buyers beware Im told. Theyre job is to push merchandise, working or not. SHAME ON YOU BN FOR SELLING NONWORKING EQUIPMENT KNOWING IT DOESNT WORK!!

Love going to this location. Even more so for my school books. My online order for my books had gotten messed up and the guy fixed it in a couple seconds and then 2 days later I was able go get my books for school. So friendly and such good manners.

You can not return anything bought here at any other Barnes & Noble. Dont let the mall fool you they are primarily a TCC bookstore so be careful buying gifts that people may return. Otherwise a great bookstore with a great selection.

Great B&N that has a large science fiction section. Well laid out. Cafe is upstairs along with other college necessities

Great selection, average prices. Using student aid here is great, otherwise I would shop somewhere else. Books are overpriced just like any college book store, but thats just college. I would give a better rating, but the staff is just terrible. They literally get paid to help you find what books you need, and find them for you, and half the time they cant do either. The managers are the biggest problem. Theyre rude, condescending, and act as if helping you is beneath them. Any time Ive ever seen a student go in there not knowing any better, I just see them walk all over them. Like well we cant help you if you dont know what books you need, and you should have figured out what you needed before you came. Like, Im sorry, but Im 100% sure thats your job here. Literally to know what classes need which books and help students find them. All the returning and senior students are fine, but I always feel so bad for the freshmen and younger students.

The first 2 times I went to get my books for class the line was rediculously long and they seemed to be under staffed so i left. I came back when I had several hours to wait in a line (around 1030) they had more staff available today. I highly recommend going B4 noon or when you have 3 hours to spare

The lines are so slow! There is no signage indicating which line is for online pickup and which is for full purchase. I was there for almost an hour and there were only three people in front of me.

There are so few bookstores left. But Barnes & Noble is still sticking to it, fighting the good fight, and giving the world what it needs. Real bookstores are such wonderful places, magical places. And this particular store is a delight, so desperately needed by this community. Its in a perfect location and its kept will stocked and always clean and orderly. I love this store!

This Barnes & Noble is much like any other, though it has two floors. The first floor is mainly for the book sections that contain fantasy, romance, and most of the non-fiction, as well as the young readers sction. The second floor contains the games and the illustrated novels, as well as the textbooks and school related items.And for the coffee lovers, as always, there is a Starbucks and an adjacent seating area located with the magazines.

This is a great B&N....always find what I need and has a great atmosphere.

Went looking for a journal. Found one I really liked downstairs. However, upon going upstairs, found some a lot cheaper---on sale---and was kicking myself for not going up there instead. Oh well, I still love the one I did get, and plan on going back to get more as gifts... Also, I really appreciate the help and willingness of the staff to do so... Blessings

This book store is in the MacArthur mall and is two levels. They have a Starbucks inside and events like book reading for kids. Love walking in here and just checking out whats new or what events they are promoting. Need to check it out!

The set up here is great. 2 floors that are well organized as well as a cafe area (with Starbucks) thats nice to just take a rest in. The atmosphere and aesthetic of the place is just right.

I love books. When you dont have a library card or you get tried of giving money to the librarian cause you forgot to return the books, then this will make you very happy.

Went in looking for specific fiction and criticism / essay authors and had no luck. The one book I came for wasn’t in stock so I had to go to Greenbrier. Over all, the ambiance is nice, downstairs has a wide fiction range but that’s the biggest section they have. Most of their upstairs selection is for the TCC students.

Doesnt have every classs books, doesnt know how to put 3/3 items in a box to ship it (they gave me 1 and said they gave me 3.) Doesnt know how to fix an order that failed after 2 phone calls. Expensive, long shipping with books that can be found cheaper some place else. I suggest Amazon, where Its easy to fix a problem with your order, 2 day shipping is an option (and free with Prime which is discounted to students,) and the books are at a lower price and are always available and guaranteed to be the price they show. TCC B&N may change the way the book is given without warning, which also changes the price. In short; Barnes and Noble @TCC, or whatever totally trendy name they chose, sucks a lot.

Not only do they have books here but guess what they are all over priced! Amazon probably has them cheaper but you can sit in company with pompous people that overpay for stuff and sniff their own farts with a sense of arrogance and pride.

I have family who works in the cafe that went from the cafe to that whole floor supervisor in like six months. Great service and really good atmosphere. Lots of students go to study here

$228 for an anatomy book... really. Found the same book for $80 On eBay new. This isnt some 4 year college. How is this affordable? Barnes and nobles is a ripoff money grubbing company.

They screwed up a textbook purchase of a student whom I know who used a purchase order from a local city. And they took the refund money from the left over Pell grant funds. They have yet to correct their error and they keep giving them the runaround. Shame on you, Barnes & Noble.

Awesome store with 2 floors, food/drinks and plenty of employees around to answer questions. One thing that is kind of annoying is that there are very few chairs to sit in and read.
