In and around Old Dominion University Norfolk, University car care is the best one. The employees are very friendly and in there point of view they are helping the students. So, they charge a very minimal fee. They car for the car as their own and they respond to us very promptly. In many places I see they charge a lot, even in the so called very big franchises they just charge us a lot by the name of the brand and hard to reach them if the problem repeats. In university car care they always does with on second charges. Overall they are very good people.

This place is AMAZING!!! We are from out of town and our truck overheated the day we were supposed to leave. We called 5 different repair shops including a dealership and no one would take us. University car care didn’t hesitate, recommended that we got it towed there, and helped us that day! In addition, we had a dog with us because we had to check out of our resort. They allowed us to bring our 90 pound yellow lab into the waiting room. Overall, the staff was extremely kind, compassionate, and helpful throughout the entire process.

Super professional with good values!Someone entrusted with personal information lost control of our paperwork and it wound up in University Car Cares parking lot. They called us to let us know and held it until we could pick it up even though we arent customers. It would have been easy to exploit the information, everyones worst nightmare in the age of identity theft. I know this isnt terribly helpful given we didnt use their auto srrvice, but its good to know theyre trustworthy which can be hard to find.

I called to get a state inspection. Was told that I could bring it in without an appointment no problem. When I got there I wasnt greeted as the employees just continued to walk past me and do what they were doing. After 15 minutes of waiting and watching I was told that I would have to leave my car there overnight and maybe they would get to it tomorrow. I just think this shouldve been discussed over the phone.

I was actually getting lunch at Subway which is located right next to University Auto when my car wouldnt start. The gentleman working at University Auto quickly helped by trying to jump the car - but that wouldnt work. So he took his time to go back and get another tool and he tapped on the starter to get it to work while I turned on the engine. Im so thankful for him coming to my rescue as I was running late to an appointment but I was able to get the car started and to the appointment. I tried to pay him but he wouldnt let me and he was definitely my Good Samaritan of the day! Thanks so much!

I don’t know why there are reviews saying that this business tends to rip off students because that was far from my experience. Being an ODU student myself, I came in needing a wheel replaced and they were able to do just that perfectly. The cost was more than reasonable, I wasn’t charged for anything that I didn’t know I was getting; they simply listed some recommendations for me to check out. They even gave me a small courtesy inspection for no cost. I would definitely recommend this business; they’re professional, timely, and definitely worth it.

They did a phenomenal job on my 4 tire install and oil change. Very courteous and willing to answer those silly questions that non mechanics always ask...Like why does labor cost so much? Or, will my car be like brand new when youre done changing the oil?Really excellent service!

They have always done a fantastic job for me. I come here because I can walk back to my house in Larchmont. Mike at the front is always super friendly, tells me what to expect for the length of time they will have it and they always end up finishing sooner. The pieces are realistic and they have even kept my car overnight for me one time when I had a flat right before leaving town and they promised me they would park it inside each night until a few days later when I was going to be back and could pick it up. I love this place much cheaper and more convenient than going to a dealership.

Other than being conveniently located near my job, the guys here are extremely fair in pricing, and are upfront about everything needing to be done on your vehicle. Highly Competent Technicians/Service Providers!In the past, I had not done any business with University Car Care Center because some people had given them a bad reputation for not being honest and trustworthy in their business dealings. However, that is not the case with me or the case in my observation of their interaction with their customers. I found Josh and Mike who I dealt with for service on my car to be honest, trustworthy, and extend above average customer service to me and others.They performed a state inspection on my car and passed it according to state inspection guidelines. Did my car need to be serviced or did it have issues of safety in the near future that needed to be addressed after the inspection? Absolutely! Was it issues that I knew about? Absolutely! Did I tell Josh those issues prior to the inspection? Yes, I did! But the issues were not imminent according to state inspection guidelines. The issues my car had were right on the edge of state inspection guidelines. Josh brought to my attention how state inspection guidelines were followed during my inspection and that is why my car passed. Josh also mentioned what I needed to take care of soonest; I already knew what needed to be repaired/serviced; therefor, after my inspection I had University Car Care Center to service my vehicle for those repairs! And they did not charge me an arm and a leg. Their prices were very reasonable and their service was very prompt and thorough. A job well done! I highly recommend University Car Care Center!

I’ve gone here previously to have work done because it’s close to home. Around two weeks ago I had a oil change and inspections... I failed inspection and paid for the things that needed to be fixed in order to pass. Here I am, two weeks later with a front light out, reverse light out, had a pressure test done to be sure my coolant was okay - they told me it was fine.. my car isn’t holding coolant at all. Slow leak is detected on front passenger side tire... AND my horn doesn’t work. Needless to say I’m pretty annoyed and I don’t know how any of this was “inspected” and passed.

This is the worst place you can go to. They trick you for repair things that work perfectly.I just bought my car one years ago with less than 10K miles on it. I put my car at this place to do the state inspection, and the staff said my front struts are rusted need to be replace and it cost around 1000 dollar. I mean what? I just drive my car for working, and I just did the 10K miles full car inspection at my dealer shop.SO i called my mechanic and ask him to do the inspection and my mechanic said the struts are working perfectly like the new one, there are no reason to change them.SO I went to another shop to do the car inspections, and they passed it so quickly.What is even hilarious , the staff will call you many times to say they have the lowest price to fix the problem. Well, even I did need to change the struts, I got the price from my mechanic are around 600 dollars, which compare to their 1000 dollars price is much cheaper.So please do not come to this place, the staff may look friendly, ask you some questions about car, and if they find out you do not know car that much they will try their best to trick you.

I had a leak in my tire and I needed to get it fixed ASAP. I looked for places in my areas and University Car Care came up. I have them a call and they said that they were busy, but if I could get there soon they would try their bet to get it fixed today. I got there as soon as I could and Mike was very nice and friendly at the front. He took down my information and he showed me the price right up front. He said he would give me a call when it was ready. It is really convenient because my apartment is less than a mile away. He ended up staying late to finish my work. Everything was perfect! My tire was fixed and the price was the exact number he had shown me before. Will definitely be coming back here if I have any other needs!

I personally had a great experience with university car care. They were very nice and got my car back to me quickly. I came in early in the morning for a flat tire and they had me out in an hr and I got a great price. They were all very pleasant men and very funny. I definitely will be back soon.

The guys at University Car Care were awesome. Brought my car in for a maintenance trip and ran into a very strange issue where it wouldnt start all of a sudden. They put in a full days work trying to figure it out and came up with nothing. They offered a few ideas of what to do next and didnt charge me for any of the work they did. I took their advice and had new keys made and it solved the issue. These guys were helpful and honest with me all day and i will be bringing my car here for all of its needs.

Been bringing my car here time to time since it is close to ODU. They havent given me a reason not to trust them. Will always work with you in order to get the best possible solution. They dont give us a run around. Been here for inspections, tires and service and it has been a good experience everytime.

Hey, this is an honest review-- these guys have kept a 1997 Land Cruiser of mine running without breaking the bank. So we bring two other newer model Hondas to them for service as well. My wife and I think they provide great service at a fair price. They are just down the street from us as well, and occasionally we just walk there to pick up or drop off our vehicles. Give them a try-- they have not disappointed us once.

Brought my Jeep in and explained what work I wanted done. Did eveything he could to give me the best possible price. Instead of costing 2-300 dollars more insisted I just get it checked out first. Very friendly will bring car there from now on!

All of these negative reviews likely come from spoiled, entitled college kids who have no idea how the real world works.The guys at University Car Care are professional and courteous, and they look out for the customers’ best interests. My first experience with hem was a few years ago when I had to be on the road to NY and got a flat. They had me in and out in an hour and a half.I just got home from picking up my new used car from them. A lot of unforeseen issues popped up, and they’ve worked very closely with me over the last few days to get my car up and running. They call around to try to find the best prices on parts. They are truly amazing, and I will be returning to them with both of my cars in the future.

Beware, the only two dealings we’ve had with this garage were bad. Mechanics missed a major recall that would have fixed the problem with one car and they seemingly don’t understand inspection guidelines as they failed a vehicle claiming it needed a bogus repair. The vehicle passed inspection at another garage the next day with no repairs needed.

The worst car care I ever been!! When I did the state inspection in this car care, they found a small crack on the back of my headlight and charged me 900 bucks to replace a new pair to pass the inspection!! But, in the other car care, they just adjusted the height of the headlight and everything works fine!

Gotten my past few oil changes here and they have the best full synthetic oil change prices around. The staff is helpful and gets the job done in a timely manner.

I went here to get my oil changed, I dropped my car off and they called me later and told me that my license plate light and brake light were broken. They said they would fix each one for me for 11 bucks a pop. I pick up my car and I realize a few days later they completely forgot to change my lights, even though I was charged for it. I take it back, they say their sorry and then fix it right away. Except then they tell me its a socket thats broken in my brake light. They keep my socket and my light bulb and hand me back my car with no working brake light. Its not even that its broken, there are pieces missing! Over a week has gone by and I cant them to fix my freaking light. Very poor, unintelligible service. Fixing a light bulb shouldnt take more than 2 minutes, let alone a week.

This place is a hustle. Do not go there. My daughter was told our car needed a rack and pinion, and almost $1000 worth of repairs to the car. I took the car to another mechanic, and it did not need any of the work I was told it needed. I feel this place realizes they get ODU college students that do not know alot about vehicles. The students then in turn call their parents, and tell them their vehicle needs repair. Always get a second opinion, especially when dealing with this business.

Went in for a state inspection and was told that my flood lights were broken and my right side bumper marker light was out. I told them not to make the repairs and when I got my car home, I checked all of these lights and they WERE FINE. Guess this business just assumed I was a college student who didnt know how to look and see if my own fog lights worked. TERRIBLE.

These people are scammers .I called them to check the price for an oil change with bringing my own oil and they said it was $19.99, when I got to their location, he tried to rip me off by charging me $23 before tax. When I mentioned to him that I was told it was $19.99 he acted like he didnt know blaming the system for not being up-to-date . Avoid them by any chance .Scammers .

I went in for a state inspection 6 days ago and was failed for having too large of a drum on my back brakes. The fact that my drum failed my cars inspection was not the issue (although it was literally millimeters beyond the discard specs). Instead, the issue was their estimate for fixing my vehicle. The cost of each drum according to University Car Care: $81. The cost of me going down the road and buying them from Advance Auto Parts: 20 bucks. Dont even get me started on the estimated labor costs. I saved over $50 by doing the 30 minute job myself.Moral of the story: Save your time, save your money, and go somewhere else.

My hazard light went on soon after I pick up my car, they said by repairing the sensor, it might have cause a chain reaction... gave me two option on how to fix it, cheap or expensive route.. and they said no guarantee, sounds like repair shop that pray on college students... avoid unless you want them to break your car and charge you for it

I read the reviews before going to University Car Care for a State Inspection since I needed it done as soon as possible. My car is three years old and its never given me a problem and Ive always kept up with the maintenance. UCC did not give me any problems as they were happy to take my car in for a state inspection but warned me it would take a while since there was 3 cars ahead of mine. It took them almost 4 hours which was ok since they warned me in advance but my car did not pass state inspection due to my floor panel. They informed me my car was in great condition but it was rejected and it would cost me $203 for labor. I was tempted to just get it done but after talking to my father we arranged for him to see the problem. UCC said it would take two hours to fix my floor panel and my dad did it in 10 minutes. We went else where for the state inspection, it passed and were told that the reason I was rejected was a joke. The people at UCC were nice and helpful when it came to my questions. Just be careful and get second opinions because they were charging so much for something so minor. & be careful with tow trucks! They are the reason my floor panel had a dent.

I have had a very bad experience at this shop. They dont care about the customer. A few month ago I did my oil change. On my way out I slightly scratched one of the mechanics pick up truck (a minor scratch on the front, left-side, bumper). The mechanic, who just changed my oil, started yelling and cursing at me as if I did it intentionally. After I gave him my insurance information, I apologized and left. What amazed me was his sheer disregard to the fact that I was a regular customer at the shop. I can tell you for sure that they will not see me again.
