You can absolutely count on these guys to help you out with any of your guitar or bass needs. By far the best service ive had at a luthier shop, these guys are all very experienced and will do their absolute best to fulfill whatever need you may have. Highly recommend.

Pros: The building/space itself is nice and well-kept.Cons: The man with whom I dealt - Joe - looks like the kind of guy who everyone remembers as Oh, that guy. Basically, a man who sleepwalks through life. He sounded like an autistic robot and the setup advice he gave was rude and not that insightful. Within five minutes of talking I decided to pass on the setup and left. Waste of my time across the board.

Long story short: dont hesitate to bring your problem to Guitartech. Now the rest of the story: I bought a 60 year old Martin 0-18T on eBay that needed a pickguard replacement and two cracks repaired. I took the guitar to the Martin Factory in Nazareth and left it for a quote. Two months later, I received a quote that came in just under $2K. And, I would need to wait over three months for the repair. I then took the guitar to Paul Neito at Guitartech, a Martin Authorized repair shop. He assessed the guitar and we agreed that it needed a minimal of work. His pricing was very very reasonable. He was a pleasure to deal with (as were everyone I met in the shop.) He completed the work in less than three weeks and the guitar is beautiful. I highly recommend Guitartech and Paul Neito

Found these guys on a random google search and couldn’t be more pleased!I had a Martin that I was afraid was damaged after several years of storage. Took it in to guitar tech and now it plays better than I ever could have imagined. I’ve dealt with both Paul and Joe and they were knowledgeable and super easy to work with. They gave me a realistic time frame of how long it would take in their shop to get my guitar back in top shape and they made it happen. These guys actually build guitars, and their knowledge shines through when doing repairs. I feel like I have a brand new guitar after leaving their shop. I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else to my friends and family.

Really high quality and professional shop. I got my guitar setup and when I was talking to they guy he was very knowledgeable about guitars and was very helpful when I was deciding what strings I should get. When I got it back the whole guitar was polished, and they even raised the action when it was not high enough. 10/10 Its worth the $150

Let me give you the short form first. No matter what the charges, they will prove to be a bargain.Long form: I had a guitar built by Paul. I am a few months into ownership and continue to be amazed. I have over 7 years of big box music retail experience and management. I have been used to evaluate high end stock and have tested at least 200 guitars as a regional guru in the 2-10K range, with especial interest in Classical (Ramirez, Dieter Hopf, Torres, etc.), PRS, and strats. The characteristics I look for are quality of lumber, stability and intonation, durability, playability, and an X factor that individuates the piece through clarity of inner voicings within complex transcriptions (ex. Certain ES175s and L5s I ran into dated early 60s or late 50s, as well as some early PRS).I got a solid body 24 fret piece with which I am experiencing that Xfactor that allows the player to open up improvisational transparency. Its a bargain at the price and I will keep it for a lifetime.

Guitartech is amazing. Paul and Joe were able to diagnose and fix a problem with my Gretsch which required two separate trips and were very fair with cost. Joe did an amazing job setting up my Les Paul and Stratocaster. He even helped with recommending DR Pure Blues strings, which matched the sound I was looking for. I will definitely be a loyal customer of Guitartech.

I brought my Martin CEO-7 acoustic guitar to Guitar Tech for a minor cosmetic repair early last month. This was a well known problem with the binding becoming loose and I was told it should be fixed under warranty at no charge. They are an authorized C.F Martin repair center and were recommended by Martins customer service. I live in Brooklyn so they were closer then the other repair center located on Long Island. I was told within 90 seconds that my guitar was dry and the loose binding issue would not be repaired under warranty. When I inquired as to the cost of the repair they informed me that they were not interested in working on the guitar at all. A wasted trip.Having owned Martin guitars since 1972 and actually worked at a well known dealer and shop for four years (Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island, no longer in business) I am well aware of the importance of keeping a guitar humidified during the heating season. My sense was that Guitar Tech was just not interested in doing this work .Within two weeks I brought the guitar to the other authorized repair on Long Island. They welcomed the work, didnt find any dryness issue anddid the work within three weeks.

I have a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Standard HP, and I had intonation issues and fret buzz since the first setup in Gibson certified store. I took my guitar to another Gibson certified store, they couldn’t get it right either. I tried three more places, there was no progress. Long story short, I stopped by at Guitartech and had a complete setup there. My LP sounds great, perfect intonation, no issues. The two humbled luthiers did a fantastic job! They simply know what theyre doing! If there is 10⭐️ I will give it to them. Thank you for the great work!👌👍

Paul repaired a Martin D15 Custom for me that had dried out while sitting in in its case over the last few years. He did a great job on a neck reset and internal damage. Paul also contacted Martin and got them to cover 40% of repair as part of its limited lifetime warranty. I was very pleased with his work and impressed with some of his custom made guitars that I saw hanging up at the shop.

First I am a guitar geek. I am 65 years old and still playing. I have many guitars but I fail in their maintenance. Guitar Tech was a magical find. Out of all of my guitars I cherish my EVH Wolfgang Special. Among my electrics, Gibsons, Fenders (though my tele is a workhorse), my EVH is my love. I dont let just anyone touch her. But!!! she was a challenging play. Mr. Paul and Mr. Joe are great. I felt very confidant at hello. Set up to my specifications and cleaned, to boot. The atmosphere in the workshop is calm and very pleasant. Both were very responsive to my desires. I was highly pleased. I believe this was the best feeling I have had about handing over my guitar to a business. The only thing better is having my own personal Tech. Thank you guys. Hopefully you can stay open and allow me the privelge of seeing you again. Thank you

In addition, they are great people as well. They took their valuable time to listen to my concerns and where extremely gracious. Paul is a true talent and very down to earth and fun to work with. He did a ton of work for me on an old guitar: re-finish, re-fret, custom pickguard, new hardware, new wiring, and reshaped the neck amongst other things. His attention to detail is incredible, and the guitar looks and plays like nothing else. I wont let anyone else work on any of my guitars ever again, and my next guitar will be one of his amazing custom builds!

Paul is one of the most talented builders and technicians I have ever met. The guitar he built me is the only instrument I use now. Studio, live, it does everything I could ever hope a guitar would do for me. His craftsmanship exceeds many of the top tier guitar makers today, and being a musician himself insures that youre getting something that youre not only going to love aesthetically, but also love to PLAY. Repairs, custom instruments, amps, he does it all. Go to Guitartech!!!

They literally kicked me out of the shop because my problem (permanent glue damage on pick guard) was stupid according to them. I was told to use the product Goo Gone (which I tried at home for long time and did NOT works).I honestly have never been treated worse. They told me that they only deal with serious things. I gave him $ 20 for the trouble they have obviously taken. I am still under shock to the point they make me cry for the humiliation. However Karma is Karma, and …..After exiting from their shop, right next to them there is Flowers School of NYC , I did walk in attract by the beauty of the flowers and the gentlemen in the store offers to me a gorgeous flowers bouquet, as the fate wanted to tell me that there is more beautiful people than ugly in this world. So, actually later I did find the solution myself. I simply find for $11.12 the PICKGUARD TORTOISE that I need to replace from the site Yamaha24x7 .Perfect solution because I wish I was rich. Maybe this guy through his insults will bring me good luck and one day I will be rich.

Ive been a customer of Guitartech for 7 years, and i have to say their work has always been impeccable! Paul is literally the only luthier out there that I completely trust: his knowledge and his craftsmanship are top-notch. Hes built two custom basses for me as well: a fretted and a fretless 5 strings. Both of them are amazing: the perfect combination of a killer tone and playability, in fact the fretted 5 has become my go to bass since he built it in 2011.I highly recommend Guitartech to anyone whos looking for a great setup, a proper fix or where to get their next axe.

Im a professional musician in NYC and a proud Guitartech customer for more than 4 years. I got recommended to it by a colleague of mine and I never looked back. Paul Nieto is an incredible guitar builder and an expert repair man. Every time I bring an instrument in I know Im in good hands. From standard maintenance to highly personalized custom work or heavy duty repairs, Paul always delivers. The reason why is that he loves what he does and he is willing to go the extra mile to understand what the client wants/needs in order to play better. The shop is spacious and clean with a peculiar selection of used and new instruments, including Pauls own line of guitars, which are a joy to play. They also sell a wide variety of strings, pedals, cables and accessories. All I have to do is playing, Guitartech takes care of the rest for me. A total no brainer.

Paul is a true guitar hero! He is completely honest, easy to communicate with, and cares very much for his customers. I have a Martin 00CXAE that required a special glue for repair. Paul not only initially referred me to another guitar tech when he didnt have the glue, but once my rep from Martin Guitars/Paul worked this out, Paul fixed up my guitar better than I could have imagined. He took great care and went beyond the repair of fixing the bridge/preamp and also cleaned up/polished Marty McFly. This kind of service is unheard of in NYC! Only take your guitars to Paul!!!

There is a moment in every guitar players life: a before and after moment. The first time I went to Paul Nieto and the guys at Guitartech was such a moment. Before, I was just a professional guitar player annoying every person I played with because my axes were poorly set up - no dangerous distortion or sexy sustain (let alone the holy grail of being in tune). But not any more!Guitartech is the best guitar repair shop in NYC.They are always on point. Ive taken two of my almost (I thought) beyond repair axes there. Enter Guitartechs secret sauce and they now sound better than before!Cheers to Guitartech for keeping my peace of mind.

Describe Your Experience? In a word, excellent! I had discovered that my Martin HD-28L had suddenly and seemingly overnight dried out, so that the bridge was lifting and the frets were sticking out of the neck and the top had started to change. Martin recommended Guitartech, so I took the guitar down to Paul Nietos shop to see what could be done. They had it for about a week, they humidified it, put the bridge back on, and suggested I replace the Martin Thinline bridge/saddle pickup with a Fishman Matrix Infinity (a very cool piece of technology!) The entire transaction over that week was relaxed, professional, reassuring and efficient. When I got the guitar home, I took it out of the case to see what had been done and what had changed ... I was going to just fool around with it for a bit, but I ended up playing it for three hours. Its the way the setup and the action were improved that made me get lost in the music for a while. I hope you never need work on whatever guitar you have, but if you do and youre in the NYC area, Guitartech is the place to go. Thanks, Paul and Justin!

This guy is an amazing. I brought in my Modulus Q5 for a setup and strings replacement and I am not sure what he did to it but I got back a bass on steroids. I get from my bass a sound I never thought I would. I also tried some of his own made basses and I must say they sound to me so much better than other basses I own (I have a Fodera among couple other high end instruments). I hope one day his instruments will get just as popular as the likes of Sadowsky, Pedula or Foreda.
