This place is what RadioShack wishes it was. The staff here is knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. The store has a wide variety of electronic products for crafting including arduino and raspberry pi parts to just lights and phone accessories. While the prices are higher than what you can probably get online, I like knowing what I’m getting and getting it same day.

Went to their location in the east village a couple of years ago for a school project and the young lady and her older looking coworker accused my sister of stealing something and repeatedly reminded us we were on camera. Sales girl harassed me based on my appearance and wrongly accused me of shoplifting. The female sales associate working 5-13-19 4pm harassed me and profiled me for shoplifting for no reason. I was prepared to buy a number of parts, totaling a couple hundred dollars to put a project together.since there are no returns, and the store didn’t have some of the parts I was expecting to find, I was checking each item online before purchasing. The sales girl took my selected parts and hid them behind the desk. Then she stood close to me with her arms crossed watching me as I tried to figure out what parts to buy. I asked her what the problem was, and why she wouldn’t stop staring at me, and she yelled “you aren’t buying anything! You’ve been here 40 minutes! That’s way too long! I can ask you to leave!” Then she reminded me I was on camera.I had been quietly looking for the parts I needed. She profiled me as a shop lifter for no reason other than how I looked.

Used to go to the one in the east village. Beautiful place. I dropped by the new one on Allen street and had the most horrendous experience. I walked in and got a number of strange glares from the front desk person. I thought perhaps I had done something to offend her so I said hi to clear the air. She gave me the nastiest look and immediately acted almost as if she didnt see. I hope I didnt do something to offend this young woman, but I could not in good conscientious spend any more time there even though I was so interested in seeing the new space. It is May 29th 2019 and 643pm. I hope whomever is working there gets proper feedback or is replaced with someone who can do the job better. Hope the new place improves. Good luck.

Young woman working here was not only unhelpful but hostile towards me. Told me “to just buy it because it cheap” and to not “spend to much time thinking about it” while I was trying to figure out what I need. She initially only pointed me to a section and when I later asked if they had what I need she said “no I could have told you that” which is what she should have done from the start instead of dismissing me and then acting like I wasted her time asking for help. It was like she was actively trying to get me out of the store.Workers do not were name tags and have no accountability for their service. This is the best store in Manhattan for the electronics hobbyist. Leds always catch my eye and there is a nice moving led light contraption in a display case near the entrance to the store. After a casual browsing around, I bought a package of 20 green leds. There are a variety of wall wart power supplies, electronic kits, and electronic tools and an assortment of parts to build your own projects with. I assured them it could physically remain in their hands, unopened, while I examined it and they refused, saying it was store policy. Ever since they were on 5th street, I sadly had to go here to get little electronics or tools because they were for emergency projects. But I strongly, and HIGHLY advise you, just order online from other stores.First off, the customer service... There isnt any. Nobody here knows anything, its hard to believe this store is even still in business just based on customer service alone. The girl who works there (or used to?) She has no manner, no etiquette, doesnt say hi or thank you for your purchase. I never liked her, and someone like her shouldnt even be employed until she learns some courtesy. Ive went there for years, and throughout all those years, Ive never heard her almost ever talk other than to tell me the price.Today, I went to the Allen street store for the first time in months, and there was a young guy there this time. I thought maybe he has some courtesy. Nope, its like they only hire you if youre not good with people. I asked about a 40 pin connector, its a pretty simple thing to know about if you work in tech or a tech related store, or you should at LEAST learn about your products, this dude basically stops me mid-question to say I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY OF THE PRODUCTS, YOU CAN USE THAT QUESTION BOOTH OVER THERE. Points at a screen on the wall, which was nothing but the website on a touch screen display, which I could have done on my phone. Ridiculous. To make matters worse, the piece I bought, though cheap, broke by just pulling it out of what I plugged into, it broke in half. This isnt the first time something Ive bought from there broke literally minutes after I bought it. They have the worst quality parts for high prices. Anything you can get from ebay for literally cents, costs dollars in here. The part I bought is

The cable was dirty disgusting dirty. It looks like a used Samsung Note 4 cable. The usb connections were dirty with grime and the white wire jacket is dirty itself.Reason I went to the store is because I was buying a gift for a kid.
