They’re very well known for their chocolates and desserts. We tried salted caramel shake and Belgian chocolate shake. The salted caramel shake was bomb! A must try shake. But the Belgian chocolate shake was okay. It had a hint of cinnamon which was not mentioned in its ingredients list.

I started coming here over 10 years ago and it’s still one of my favorites in NYC! The food is great and the fondue is a must-try. My favorite dinner options are the Brenner burger and the bacon mac and cheese with tomato. I prefer the classic European fondue between the two fondue options. Try the milkshakes too—the chocolate hazelnut is my favorite! You can even ask to split a milkshake between two people.

Amazing place for chocolate lovers. They got good food as well who does not have sweet tooth. This location was amazing with extremely good and humble staff. The food and cocktails were as usual delicious.

HUGE disappointment. I’ve been there multiple times over 10 years and never been disappointed this much. Maybe management changed? I don’t know what happened. after covid situation calm down, I decided to stop to try my favorite chocolate pizza and end up with a disaster visit. And probably never ever gonna go again.First of all, our waiter had no clue. I asked for chocolate pizza and he asked me what topping to put on it. Since they never had choice of topping before I simply asked what choices do I have? Though our waiter could only answer “check the menu.” I had babies on my arms and my partner’s phone had technical issue to load the menu, so I politely asked if he can just simply tell me what choices are there (they only have three options anyway) Though, instead of trying to help me, he could only say “check the menu.” like he has zero intention to help me out. I didn’t ask him to read every item on the menu, all I asked was for him to tell me those three toppings on pizza which is their signature menu for long time.Only if the pizza itself was better, then I would have let that go, but oh my, what happened!? The amazing real chocolate pizza with marshmallows are now some sort of bread with chocolate bits sprinkled on top. I actually even compared the photo on my phone from how it looked before and what I got now to check back on my memory.Now I know their quality in both service and food went very low. I say this became just a tourist trap. Very sad.

Wow, this place was fantastic. Love the ambiance, reminds me of Willy Wonka. The food was incredible, we tried the salmon and Mac and cheese. I can say there are no faults at all!

This is a fun place to do brunch or a late night dessert. The food is super rich and decadent, but still tasty. This was a go to spot in college because there is something interesting on the menu for everyone.

I always enjoy Max Brenner! This time was great also! I had a birthday dinner for 8 ppl for my daughter’s birthday. The food was delicious and Mark was the best waiter! Been coming here since I was 5 and always left satisfied. Very spacious, nice interior with two floors. There’s also a cute gift shop and bar. Staff are very nice and food is amazing. Recommend Grandma’s pizza, chocolate pizza, and fondue🙌. Reservations are also recommended.

Service, food, drinks and chocolate were all perfect. Staff was very attentive. Would definitely recommend. I had the cheeseburger, chocolate martini and the dark Italian hot chocolate for dessert/walk home. My date had the Mac and cheese with chicken. We both enjoyed.

We encountered Maxs Famous Chocolate Mess Party for Two.We had superb milkshakes(Pure Chocolate Granita)chocolate ganache blended with ice in your choice of milk, dark or white chocolate, Melting Chocolate Heart Cake & Shake,(oozing chocolate cake, served with an iced milk chocolate shot, strawberries, and vanilla ice cream)to mouthwatering Iconic chocolate martini. The food was great and our waiter J was on point, super professional and very friendly. Wonderful first time visit. Go visit and experience this place for yourself.

Very conveniently located in Union Square close to the train stations. Food at the restaurant is reasonably priced with decent portion size. The food was good. The staff are friendly and courteous and we never felt rushed.

Loved it! Had been there twice before but this was the most memorable.They were very accommodating and although their site says outdoor dining only on weekends but when we called they said theyd accommodate us. Waitress was beyond friendly! We got a salad, margarita panini and chicken and all were phenomenal! Then got a cookie skillet and fondue! Wed definitely go back. Prices were very fair for the quality. Yum!!!

This is the place you want to go to for desserts. It was really busy when I went but was able to get seated immediately. The only thing that could have been better was the service, I had to wait over 15 min to get the check.

The best place for your chocolate indulgence. From fondues to pizzas theyre all great. To take a break from all that sweetness their waffle cut fires and Mac n cheese is a must try. Have been here on lot of occasions. Chocolate fondue is the most recommended.

Heaven for chocolate enthusiasts. They offer a perfect dining set that could be used to make chocolate fondue with a variety of fruits in whatever ways you want. Although they were quite crowded in the afternoon, a visit here was absolutely worth it.

The cafe looks great, has some pretty good food but the music was too loud and the service is wonky, apparently servers are assigned to tables and other waiters who aren’t busy can’t help you, so there’s ppl standing around and us who want to order and they can’t help us it was weird, ended up taking forever just to get a milkshake and some cake. The cake was cute tho came with its own adorable micro milkshake. Would go again as long as it’s almost empty cuz they don’t handle crowdedness well.P.S. still using virtual menus just FYI

We just got in Max Brenner and the hostess ask ! Do you have a reservation we say no sorry , so she say you can order to take out , we see the place wasn’t really busy in the afternoon so we were ready to order a hot chocolate and coffe to go when I ask very nicely to the guy who work in take out place what time are you guys close and the guy told us I don’t know go and ask the two ladies in the front, so went to ask one of the ladies what time are you guys close and she say at 11pm so I ask her nicely if you have any cancellations please let me know is only 7pm so she say sorry we are busy , so I ask the other lady how we can make our reservations for next time we are coming from Washington DC and we really want to eat here so she say go to a Open Table and make your reservations and she take 5 minutes of her time to show us how we can do the reservations , we made a reservation for 7:30pm and we seat and have a crepes , coffee and cappuccino, Thank you so much Angelica one of the Hostess who take her time to help us , she was very nice and friendly and came to our table later to ask if we were good . Is a very nice place but they need people like Angelica to make you feel good and welcome.

This place is just impressive! Imagine being whisked away to Willy wonkas chocolate factory but in the middle of NYC! ITS A CHOCOLATE WONDERLAND! The menu item that blew me away was the affogato(anywhere I go, if its on the menu..i order it! ), for all your coffee and choclate lovers out there, this is it! An espresso accompanied with a hefty scoop of vanilla ice cream and a mini flask of choclate sauce! I couldnt help myself, I had to order 2! Ive dined in restaurants all over the world and I must say, this is the best affogato Ive ever had, from the taste to the presentation...it was just TOP NOTCH all around!

The dessert was so rich & delicious, one is way more than enough to share. We wish there was smaller portions so we could try multiple things! The downside was that the coffees & espressos are not hot. Even if you ask for them to be hot, they make these items to be lukewarm. We even sent it back & it came back the same temperature. They said thats how they serve it, so just know it wont be a hot coffee!

First off, they tell you to wait a few minutes- and they stand by that. I pretty much got a seat in 3 minutes.Everyone is seated at a nice, safe distance. I was brought upstairs- and I’d recommend the seating there. It’s a quiet little place of dim lit intimacy.The server- Dom- is one of the most nicest, charismatic servers I’ve ever had. He was very friendly- and for someone carrying that many trays UPSTAIRS deserves a lot more credit and respect.The food- immaculate. Just check the pictures, yuh.I was too full to try the desserts- but the next time I come here- I’m definitely trying out the hot chocolate. My cousin raves about it!

I love Max Brenner hot chocolate. It is more expensive that other hot chocolate. But I can expect the high quality of beverage. Their chocolate truffles are delicious as well. You can mix match the truffles flavors in a boxGood gift/souvenir

I never thought I would be giving this restaurant 3 stars, I want to truly give it 2 stars. I’m fully vaccinated but my friend wasn’t and so we had to sit outside which is no problem. But the table wasn’t clean and I used hand sanitizer and a tissue to clean the table and the tissue was black after wiping the table down. I was completely disgusted by the dirt and then the waiter came and wiped the table down and I’m pretty sure the cloth he used was just water and the cloth. The waiter didn’t provide us with napkins. The waiter brought our knives and forks and placed them on the table with no napkin, mind you, I wiped the table down prior to him cleaning with his cloth. So my friend and I asked for hot water to place our silverware inside so it can deep clean. The mug that was provided with hot water was dirty. Then we were brought our food and let me just say, nothing taste the same. Everything tasted bland and dry, the pasta isn’t the same anymore. I don’t understand why this happened but because of this experience, I don’t want to dine here anymore. I loved their waffles and drinks for the longest but to come back and have this experience was the draw for me. If you dine here, make sure to ask for napkins and straws cause you never know if the glasses are clean. Ask for hot water for your silverware and ask them most importantly to wipe the table down with water and soap!!!! Double check that everything is accurate, and this is extremely important for those that aren’t vaccinated or are vaccinated and have to sit outside because it’s a mix, make sure they follow suit!

After a very long walk, we came across this chocolate bar. Loved it all: the mojito, hot chocolate and best of all the chocolate martini! Sat at the bar, there seem to be full so reservations might be required. We were lucky and enjoyed every bit .

Not sure who okayd this chocolate pizza.. its literally pizza dough with a little Nutella drizzled on top.. every restaurant my mother goes to she claims that she can make that food at home and I always laugh and brush her off... this time .. I can hear her saying it in my mind and YES.. finally.. she could make this at home... not sure why anyone would want to though. The shakes were good otherwise, staff was friendly, place is nice and large.

Where I found my love for pickles a couple years ago! I need to go back for that thin pizza & that yummy fry dipping sauce. I see that they don’t add pepperoni to the pizzas. Guess I’ll try and request it personally when I order!

Not the same Max Brenner from pre pandemic times. Many items no longer on the menu. Kids did not feel the place was as magical. Our fondue was barely warm. Hope things turn around soon😕

My friend and I got mac n cheese and it was superb. The best one I had (in my opinion). Chocolate tasted so good I couldn’t resist to take some home. Would recommend visitors to go during non-peak hours.

Food was good. I had the Mac and cheese which was very good. My son had the marshmallow hot chocolate and he said it was the best hot chocolate he ever had. The desserts are also very good. My son had the chocolate pizza and he said it was good but dry. I had the strawberry and cream waffles which were very good and my friend had the Euphoria Peanut Butter Sundae which she said was good but very rich. Overall recommend. It’s a fun place.

Great food and great vibes. Customer service was excellent. I had the mac and cheese with crispy chicken. The only complaint I have is that the drink could have been better (i had the frozen lemonade). It was very watered down. A little more flavor and it would have been great.

My favorite thing here is the Churros Fondue,it is unbelievable Delicious comes with three different sauces and I love it so much ,if you never tried before it is a must to try! The only thing I don’t like about here is their Restroom hygiene,I think it’s pretty important for a restaurant to have a clean restroom and every time I come here I come across with the same problem. I really don’t think such a good restaurant like this should have restrooms uncleanliness situation. But other than that everything is good👍🏼

Awesome place and food. We decided on a Friday evening to go here at night, and made a quick reservation. When we went there it was very crowded and we waited for half hour but got a table for 2. The service here is amazing and the food is even better. It was very cold outside so when we sat down we ordered a Italian Thick Hot Chocolate with Dark Chocolate which was creamy and tasty. The chicken sandwich and waffle fries both were delicious. We ordered another plate of fries. For dessert we ordered Chocolate Fondue and Tiramisu. The Fondue comes with 3 types of melted chocolate Milk, Dark and White. Tiramisu and Chocolate Fondue both were great choices for dessert.

Great customer service. Happy to be seated right away. Great little front of the store shop to take a gift home. We got the fondue 🫕 it was AMAZING!!!

I remember a few years ago when I watched people review them and I finally got to try their food myself this summer. It was AMAZING!! I had their mac and cheese and their chocolate pizza thing. Kinda wish I tried more dishes.

Update 2021 May:Though the space is still crammed due to over-seating, I liked the service around this time. We had this very sweet waiter who was very helpful and the food was served faster than ever before.Update 2019 December:This review is for the last two times I visited this year.I might love chocolate but this particular max brenner has Ridiculous wait times and Uber rude service. The waiters didn’t care to show up for at least 25 minutes after we were seated. I wish they treat their customers better than this. They made the whole place congested by adding too many tables and there is not enough space to move once you’re seated in your chair or you might end up hitting your hands or legs to your neighbouring customers. The sad part is Food was only okay-ish. I compared it with the Boston Max Brenner and believe me this one failed terribly. For the prices matching NYC’s high end restaurants and with the overselling of seating space with too many tables and chairs, they could at least spend some money to train their employees to treat customers more respectfully.

Its one of my favorite places to go was still closed around my bday time though hopefully will open back open soon. Here some pics from last year when celebrated. They have awesome Chocolate Martinis as well as a White Chocolate Tea which is divine :)

One of my favorite places! Ill come here any day. Simple menu but has the best mac & cheese in the world. An awesome lava cake. Delicious dessert drinks. Honestly, a true gem of NYC.Highly recommend!

This place is chocolate heaven! First off, recommend making reservations in advance as this place gets packed and busy real fast. Except at least a two hour wait if you simply show up. The have an appetizers menu of which I highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip fondue. The dip was AMAZING! The soy glazed sesame salmon was well worth it also. Lastly, the churros with toffee and dark chocolate completed the meal. The two of us split the above and were quite satisfied while not burrowing a hole in our pockets. Enjoy!

Service was excellent, our waiter Isaac was an absolute joy. It was my youngest daughters 14th birthday(March 7th 2021). The lemon herb chicken was the best. Cant wait to go again! The portion looks small but very filling.

Yes the chocolate is really good and the waffles too!Its very crowded and too noisy but the service is polite and fast.Please make reservations, especially in this season (Valentines day approaching)...Prices are pretty decent so thats an extra point. Always a pleasure every time we visit. Ive been coming here for almost 10 years and never was disappointed. Some of my favorites are the mac and cheese which comes in a hot skillet with some fresh tomato and the lemon herb chicken. For dessert, I love the chocolate hazelnut shake or the afogatto (espresso with ice cream) with a dark chocolate shot to mix in. Its a tasty dessert for just $6. The spicy hot chocolate is also delicious. My boyfriend and I just visited for the first time again since covid, and the place is very clean and everyone wears a mask. The tables and seating is also comfortably spaced out. I highly recommend this place for dinner, dessert or celebrations.

The food was very ordinary.This place is overrated. The server was extremely rude. I asked for a wall charger outlet so that I could charge my phone to scan their digital menu since they dont have have their physical menu cards to which the server replied that, We dont have wall outlets in the entire store. The simple answer was they had a pay to use charger, which I would have been happy to pay and use but she didnt even point me towards it.

I posted a few I sampled and sample more from cakes to teas simply amazing guys and gals. If you in the city this is a spot to try.

This place is a must go for all the the chocolate lovers. I have been here so many times and it just gets better. Its famous for the Hot Chocolate Hug Mug. But the other dishes I tried were also too good. The service is superb! The ambience is just perfect.

I was surprised by my Best Friend aka other half. He knows me well! One of my favorite foods is Chocolate! This place was perfect. We were seated quickly, temperatures were being checked. I have to give this 5 stars! I was extremely impressed with the food and the great service. We were a party of 4 . 2 adults 2 children . The kids loved it they had a blast! We had reservations for 2:45 we arrived at 2:15 and was seated right away. The cheesesteak and waffle fries are to die for . I ate in plenty of places and this by far had the best cheese steak and it was on a waffle! The chocolate covered strawberry vodka drink was on the money. If you plan on going please make reservations. You don’t want to wait around it gets busy. We paid $126 for 4 people that is reasonable and with the exceptional service and awesome food!

Let down. Was excited to check this place out for months and its not as its hype up to be. Its kinda small, dated and expensive for standard burgers, pizza and mac and cheese. I expected a large selections of chocolate dishes considering its a chocolate bar. Service was satisfactory thou their wipeing tables down were disappointed which they just swiped everything off on to the floor and chairs.

Max Brenner is great for both meals and desserts. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cheerful and the whole place smells like decadent chocolate!! The staff is friendly and careful about food allergies which is both useful and effective. Keep in mind that a reservation is a must as they dont usually have space to just sit walkins. This is a perfect place to celebrate birthdays or just a regular dinner.
