Had the grilled cheese sandwich + bacon. Generous, gooey cheese but probably should’ve gone without the bacon (made it too salty overall). Think Coffee served. Outdoor seating perfect for a lovely day like today. Got distracted and forgot I wanted to try the key lime pie! 😂 Next time.

Cool spot to meet friends for a coffee or Breakfast. Surprisingly nice and smiling staff, specially for a place so centrally located (near Union Square). The menu is a bit pricey but so is everything in the area. I had a grilled sandwich and it was ok, yet being a cheese shop I expected more cheese goodness, stronger and more artisan flavors and textures and I found it to be more onto the average side. The pickled veggies and the side salad were both a pleasant surprise that paired perfectly.

Tasty sandwiches + friendly staff! The bread was truthfully a little dry and they were a bit skimpy with ingredients.......but flavors were good. Love the feel of the shop and the carefully curated items they’ve selected to sell. A little bit overpriced but it’s a quality spot

I have been supporting my neighborhood overpriced cheese shop for years. BUT since post-lockdown reopening and while hyper inflated prices remain, service and staff became even worse. Staff is in constant state of comatose and it takes them 10 mins to acknowledge you are there. Customer (this one for years) is never right. Today, stopped by to get a sandwich. Asked to make me one and was told “we don’t have any bread”. But there is bread right there…. “its not a baguette”. I don’t care, just make me a sandwich with that bread. “no, we can’t”over the last 7 years, I spend $5-$7K there, why – convenience… 2 block walk from my house..But I no longer will support overprices places with no common nor business sense to provide service.For an overpriced cheese, one can walk another 4 blocks and go to EATALY (200 5th Ave.)

This store has absolutely everything you need to eat well in one place! The choice of cheeses, crackers and many other fun things to discover is unbelievable. I always walk out with more than I intended to get and never regret it. Plus the service is very friendly and knowledgeable. Love supporting small businesses that also happen to be great ones and this is a landmark.

The words leapt out at me, on the portable sidewalk chalkboard, with its highly stylized and colorful lettering read “Buttermilk Biscuit…” I believe it said ‘breakfast sandwich’ after that too but those first two words are what captured my attention. Into the Bedford Cheese Shop I went, the Southern male always longing for food from home 20 years after taking up residence in NYC. The friendly manager, owner, or counter help, I’m not sure which she was grabbed one of the last remaining biscuits from the display and I mentioned the ‘breakfast’ part: “Oh, not sure if we still have the ingredients but I’ll check in the back.” She shortly came back and said; “you are in luck, he has some left” and a few minutes later up to the register came my large wrapped biscuit (see the photo). Then came my first shock, “that will be $10.50 please, anything else?” “No” I muttered, “thank you,” paid and left. A rare treat I reminded myself, it’s okay. This is Irving Ave. in New York City’s still-rather-posh-in-spots Gramercy Park neighborhood, replete with plenty of brownstones and renovated townhouses, of course it will be expensive I reminded myself. During the rest of my walk I wondered, what would a similar biscuit cost back home at The Country Café in Tallahassee? So once at work I quickly looked it up: 99 cents, another 75 if you wanted red eye gravy to go with it (one such biscuit and some gravy would be a delicious, filling, if highly fattening meal for most people). Then I looked at some more of the menu, for my $10.50 I could have gotten the hungry man breakfast platter with two eggs any style, sausage or bacon or biscuits and gravy. Oh, the difference, the lousy economy back home makes. The Bedford biscuit was tasty; it was of the dense, filling type of biscuit (which is more the style my grandmother made) not the light and fluffy kind. The “breakfast part” was simply some cold ham and cheese. It would have been better heated.

Amazing selection of cheese from around the world with an expert staff thats helpful and friendly.

The items here seem pricy but I trust that they are at least high quality ingredients. Two times I’ve ordered items from here and both times I’ve become horribly ill after. They add these sauces to the sandwiches and the salad that came with the grilled cheese and I’m not sure what I’m eating. I can only assume that either the cheese or the sauce in both items triggered something. Perhaps the items here are just too rich for me to digest.

Bedford cheese shop in Bedford st used to be my favorite cheese shop. But this location has the same good cheeses, kind attention and good suggestions as in the old shop.

This place is just amazing -- I mean, the smells alone!I like to stop in for a good cheese assortment and baggett, or maybe a decadent paté. The staff is extremely knowledgable and very friendly when helping you put together a good cheese plate.Alongside the cheeses, they have a great selection of cured meats, sandwiches, and lots of other goodies, even chocolate. They have, pretty much everything you need except for the wine. I highly recommend the mango habanero jam with a good stinky cheese. You can also enjoy your cheese just outside for a spontaneous sit-down meal.

This place is much more than a cheese shop. Lots of sandwiches and groceries that are not easy to find in most shops. You Definitely need to check this place out if you are in the area.

Its okay. The prosciutto was cut too thin and the 1/4 cheese didnt have the plastic wrap when I got home. Meat and cheese selection was okay. Might walk a bit to Murrays cheese for better selections and cuts though.

The cheese itself is truly fantastic. I went to college in Wisconsin, so Id say that I know a little about cheese. This place has fantastic stuff.

Stopped in here to grab some ingredients for a quick cheese platter, and was overwhelmed by the helpfulness and kindness of the staff working here. Mick was wonderful to work with and had so many great recommendations and was super knowledgeable about everything they had to offer. Overall it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this location to all friends and family!

The sandwiches, biscuits and cheese are excellent. I really liked the chorizo breakfast burrito. The only downside is the staff seems frazzled every time there are more than 2-3 people in the store. Most experiences have been good but I have had a couple unprofessional experiences when they are busy.

The classes there are AMAZING. Was floored by how much there is to know about cheese...the people who work there are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. Great for a group outing! Oh and it’s delicious.

The breakfast quiches here are delightful but the locals know that if theres some sort of cheese youre looking for in the world, this is most likely the place you will find it. A Camembert or a Brie? Youll find many more options than that here. Enjoy!

Hipster cheese joint. Good, if not pricey sandwiches for lunch. Pass on Jose Andres potato chips. They are good but not worth being the most expensive potato chips in the world. 5 stars to the lemon ricotta cookies.

Great cheese selection and interesting sandwiches

When in New York, Bedford is our go-to cheese shop by a landslide. Both locations by far have the best selection of raw milk cheeses weve ever seen anywhere in the US, including the oh-so-illusive young raw soft cheeses that are practically non-existent elsewhere. Not once have we had a negative experience at either location, and not once have we found ourselves at a loss for great cheese.

Love the cream cheese with bagel for a Sunday brunch. Also the short bread cookies are delicious.

This place is really great BUT they offer sandwiches and a lot of times, theyre not available. Also theyre pre-made so they may not be so fresh (and my biggest gripe is that they wont make new ones for you, EVEN THOUGH they have all the ingredients to make them)

I like this place. They have cheese..I asked hem to make a “cheese cake” for me. They did it and explained that I would need to put it together myself.. which I did not want to but okay. The cheese was great..My criticisms are that they did not label he cheese or give me the proper utensils to put the thing together. So we just had cheese instead of a cake.

Good quality pastrami lox. However, it was cut way too thick and inedible parts of the lox were included which inflated the price by around 20%

Great place to spice up your cheese tray if you are throwing a party or on a date. The huge selection is amazing and affordable, and for a casual cheese connoisseur, the cheese masters behind the counter made it easy for me to select a perfect cheese. My favourite is the smoked goat gouda, must try!

I got a sandwich to go. The flavors were really good, but there was just too little toppings and too much bread. The shop has a broad selection of chocolates and other products, and I was happier with that. Ill probably go back to buy cheese and meats by weight and update the review.

Staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in finding you the perfect cheese or accompaniment. I always tell them something specific I want to pair with, most recently a hoppy IPA, and they give me something fun and interesting every time.
