Stores website says that the store closes at 8:00pm on Friday afternoon. Went in for a book at the front of the store around 6:50pm. Entering and employee yelled “we close in two minutes.” Grabbed the book and went to the register. Employees were yelling and being rude to other customers in the store saying “don’t you know you are locked in here” “we are closed” while also yelling at a customer about which section the book she wanted was in. If we had just not signed up for their membership program we wouldn’t not visit BAM again. I can understand that the online hours can be wrong and employees are tired however screaming at customers is not professional in any way.

Ive always liked this store, but I had a FANTASTIC experience today. My 4 year old is interested in geography, so we wanted to get him a map.We found Matt, who is a fellow geography nerd, like my son. He went above and beyond to find not only a map, but a perfect kids map of the world!Great job!

I love how they have a lot of popular books up front, that way they are much easier to find! I find it very helpful!!

Best coffee, friendly service, nice store.

I like the book selection here and the the layout of the store is nice. The biggest problem with this store is all the questions you have to answer to buy something: do you want a membership? Nah, do you want to join this coffee club? Nah, do you want to donate something to this charity? Nah I’m good...I can close on a house in the time it takes to buy a book. Other than that it’s a good store.

I walked the entire store looking for a book called The Midnight Library. Just as I was about to toss in the towel, I came across an employee near the magazines name Sierra. Even though she was clearly in the middle of a project, she walked with me up front to see if they had the book. There was only one copy left. When we went to check it’s “home”, it was not there. Somehow she spotted it amongst another shelf! It had been put back in the wrong place which is why I was unable to locate it myself. Very thankful for her help and so glad I didn’t have to walk out empty handed! Thanks Sierra!

I went into the store today because I was feeling pretty down and bookstores cheer me up. There was a man working there who said he wants to go be the nickname D, and D was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. We talked about books in between customers and he recommended me a book I’ve never heard of, which I decided to purchase. Keep hiring these awesome employees, Books-A-Million!

I love this place. Unfortunately, the website isnt great so its hard to fully understand if a book is in stock. But this place is always clean, organized, lighting is great, and the prices are pretty fair! Staff was friendly while helping me find a book and checkout was quick. The store is also a decent size, so they have a good selection of books.

I have a friend that works at this location - She became sick with COVID 19 and upper management is forcing her to come into work even though State of TN requires she stay home and Shelter in place. She is sick as can be and management is texting/calling/emailing everyday for her to come into work.

I went in to get coffee (which was excellent) and ended up finding a book. Everyone I talked to was super nice, and the store was clean and inviting. The only issue, and the reason I am knocking off a star, is that every conversation with an employee has to turn into a hard sell for their membership club. Cant I just buy a book and leave?

They are super helpful. I found everything I needed. I had coffee with my friend after shopping for books. Which is nice if you want to sit down and enjoy a latte while looking at your books or magazines. They have a wide selection of books, magazines, kids books, the new best sellers in front, plus gifts for people. A great place to go to look for a new book or magazine to read.

I was slightly disappointed in the fact they had no books on hair at all. Not just ethnic hair. They did have books on braids but not culturally diverse as one would think. They do carry a variety of things the strike your interest. In all you can always order online for delivery or store pickup as an option.

Cute merch but the cashier was horrible and INCREDIBLY pushy, ended up pressuring me into and just about forcing me to pay an extra $30 for some stuff I didn’t even want because I have anxiety and after so many times saying ‘no thanks I’m good’ it’s hard for me to enforce my boundaries. I’ve seen other reviews that are similar to mine and likely about the same guy. Horrible service from him and like other customers I might not return just to not have to see him again.

Got some book for my sons summer ready. Signed up for there membership. Deonta was very helpful and pleasant. He explained the details of the membership very well. The store was clean. I got asked if I needed help minutes after I came in the store. Everyone I encountered was pleasant ans helpful.

Im glad to have a real book store to go to but i think its in the process of being closed. Why? Their air conditioning hasnt either been turned down enough to be useful or they stopped having it serviced . This has been for over several months now so not an isolated issue.. not a super comfortable book store to be in unfortunately .. someone is being a tightwad ..

Always a beautiful and calming environment. Kind personnel. And i found a Thor hammer for my sons costume ON HALLOWEEN! The least likely place! This was such a treat! My son was soooooo happy because we couldnt find it anywhere else!

My wife and I enjoy walking through. You forget hope many interesting books there are when you dont make time to walk through a book store or library. Weve bought several with for our children or as gifts to have available for childrens birthdays.

The store had a lot of cool things for sale, but the older male cashier talked over us, wouldnt listen, tried to upsell us a lot of random things we kept saying no to, and took forever to let us pay and leave. Might not return because of him, it was a hassle and we were in a hurry.

Ive been going here since I was a kid. Extremely helpful staff make finding something specific a breeze, and they have a wide selection of books, collectibles, tshirts, baubles, and trinkets to keep you intrigued. Theres also a cafe to keep you alert while you bury your nose in your favorite books.

This store was good. Big and had a lot of all genres of books. I couldnt find what I was looking for and the person at information told me where I could find it. Then one problem was, there was no order for their books. They were not alphabetically by author or by title. It took me 5 minutes to find my book once I knew the section.

The employees greater us when we walked in the store. They also to us right to the location where the item we were trying to loctate was.They were extremely helpful and friendly, knowledgeable and curtious.

Witnessed manager Tina YELLING at one of her employees. This poor girl was the only one working in the store, while Tina, the manager, barked orders at her and raised her voice in front of several of us because she was helping me find a book. Absolutely disgusting display. Will not return to this location.

They stock newer books, older books you will have to order or get else where. I swear they are moving from being a bookstore to a toy/comic book store. Every time I go in there are less and less books. Their prices are much much higher than Amazon and they refuse to price match. Good place to browse for books to read but if you are looking for a specific book just go on Amazon. They do have a decent selection of hard backs though.

I have been trying to complete my order for two items for at least a total of three hours and I still can’t check out ! Called the store and they said they didn’t have it in their store and they couldn’t go look and pick up what I wanted and mail it to me however they did that last year. So frustrated I get to the last page and the circle goes round And round and a page never opens. I do all my shopping online and this by far is the worst experience I’ve ever had.

This book store is really cool and very, very expensive. Me and grandma had a good time walking around looking at all the expensive books.

I was actually disappointed on my visit here. Three of the four books were not in stock even though the website indicated there were copies in the store. The customer service provided was great but Im beginning to see the appeal of downloading digital copies as that is what I had to do with the books that were not there.

I am a big fan of tangible media. Be it books or music. So with Amazon among other online outlets slowly burying the brick and mortar boutiques of my childhood it is a very depressing thing. More depressing yet is the digital audio/video that is replacing books, CDs, records etc. So its no big surprise that I am an avid visitor to my local Books-A-Million. They have fairly typical pricing on new books. As well as equally comparable prices on new vinyl. My only qualm with their record selection is that I wish it were larger. As I said vinyl prices are comparable with new selections from any online retailer and every so often you can find quite a nice bargain with mark-downs, sales and the occasional coupon. They have some equally fair sale prices on books.I hope they can hang in there. I cant deny that I contribute to the decline in mom and pop shops as well as popular chains by buying a good bit of merch online but I will continue to do my best to keep Books-A-Million and similar stores afloat in this digital age but Im afraid the future looks grim.READ MORE BOOKS FOLKS Audio books dont capture the imagination like the real thing.
