I had my car taken to Morgantown Automotive Repair after it broke down in my parking lot and used it on recommendation of AAA. I had spoken to the people at this garage several times about my car, and it took them a month to diagnose the problem with my car. I told them that it wasnt an urgent fix because I had another car to use, but that I had people coming into town in the next couple of weeks to buy the car from me after it was fixed. After waiting almost two weeks with no word of the progress, I called the garage and asked what the status of the car was. I was told that they did not know that I had people coming to buy the car (I definitely told them) and that they had several collisions that they were doing first. I reminded them that I had given my car to them first and told them that if they were going to charge me a large sum of money ($1700), then I, as the customer, deserved to know of the holdup. The man at the garage, with whom I corresponded with, laughed when I said that $1700 was a lot of money (which it indeed is, regardless of what he says). I had to delay the people coming into town (who were going to buy my car) TWICE because this garage did not have it done when they promised. Furthermore, when I did pick up my car, they informed me that they were closing that very day, indefinitely. I found this suspicious and very convenient for them, because then if my car didnt work, I couldnt bring it back to them to fix it properly. It just so happens that they did NOT fix my car, despite me throwing away $1700 on it. Every time I slowed down, the car would just turn off and I would have to wait a minute before starting it again. I will never use to Morgantown Automotive Repair again and would caution others as well. I sincerely regret entrusting my car to them and would without a doubt use another garage.

Sadly this placed had closed. No word about reopening, relocating, or anyone carrying it on in any form. This was THE place to go for automotive electrical work if all kinds. They were a tad pricey, but they good, honest work.

Unbelievably disappointed in my experience with Morgantown Auto Repair Service. I had some overheating issues with my car on 1/26/21, and AAA towed it to MARS, stating it was a “Triple A accredited tow site and that they offer a discount on any work/repairs completed at MARS”. I am a young, new professional, 26 years old, and have never had to deal with anything like this before. I say great, tow it to MARS.They had my car for almost 4 weeks, 1/26/21 – 2/18/21. They called and said the issue was the water pump (~$500), I give them the go ahead, that gets fixed. Then they call and say it’s the throttle body (~$350); reluctantly, I give the go ahead to replace/fix. Then they call and say they went ahead and replaced the thermostat (not super expensive, ~$30 so whatever). THEN they call and say it’s the O2 sensor, another $300. BUT now that they’ve identified the O2 sensor issue, they were able to rule out throttle body issues, so he tells me that he is putting original throttle body back in and returning the new one. I think, great, my final cost goes down from ~$1100 to ~$800. I FINALLY get a phone call yesterday, car is ready, I go pick it up, final cost ~$1100. I pay, leave, and am later looking over my bill. I was charged ~$370 for a “throttle body”. I thought, must be a mistake, because they didn’t end up doing that to my car. I call, owner goes on and on, beating around the bush, saying they DID in fact keep the new throttle body in, fully knowing that wasn’t the issue, and wouldn’t offer a refund unless I took my car BACK in to rip it all apart again to switch them out.Owner straight up used the phrase “I just forgot”. Um, you “forgot” to swap out a major piece that jacked my bill up by almost $400? I honestly don’t know how they are even still a running business. They take advantage of their customers, and I believe I was targeted because I am a young woman who had my dad make a few phone calls with the owner just to make sure I understood everything that was happening. But don’t mistaken, I’m the one who used my hard-earned money to pay the final bill for this absolute mess.I’ll be touching base with Better Business Bureau, and AAA to let them know just how their garage recommendation went.I refuse to take my car back to that garage, so I really hope the company can use that extra $400 that they swindled out of me.

TERRIBLE PLACE. So unethical. They put a used engine in my Subaru Forester theyre claiming I bought for them to put in and now its shot, too. 3 years and maybe 40k on it. When I spoke to Jan, she was rude and condescending. I tried to explain to her Subaru HEADQUARTERS said a good mechanic should never replace a foreign cars engine without highly RECOMMENDING I go to a dealership. She laughed and said honey we replace those engines all the time. The mechanic never suggested that and I tried to arrange some kind of payment plan or I never would have authorized it to begin with. They dont care about their customers, they only care about the money and they wouldnt let me take my car without paying the amount in full. Therefore, I had to open up a whole other freaking account and pay on 2 credit cards. Do not take any vehicle there if you want the repair to be WORTH $3000+. They had to know it wouldnt last long and only gave me a 90 day warrantee. POOR SERVICE. Especially from a secretary too.

This is about my factory installed air suspension problem. First, I asked them if they know or have experience with air suspension and they said yes. They even gave me procedures on how they will check what the problem was. Little did I know that they are not experts on air suspension. After hours of checking, they ended up saying to change an electrical fuse box which was impossible to find but they found one which is coming from a used car. And they say that it is not 100% that this will fix the problem. I am a car enthusiast and just by hearing them say it wasn’t a sure fix, I told them I will pull the car out from them. Here come the charges.. they were charging me $600plus for whatever they did or did not do.. who knows? I said to them when the mechanic called me that he spent an hour trying to check the car already and they don’t know what the problem was yet, I was always checking on them already.. up to the 3rd hour when I called he told me about changing that part. I went back to their shop and pulled my car out because as you know, they charge by the hour.. they did lower down the charges to $400plus but I had no choice but to pay. Drove my car straight to the dealership and just for two hours, they were able to fix the problem with no parts replaced. Spent just $231 for it. Imagine that..

Wonderful experience. I cant say enough good things. I had a flat tire and ended up stripping off 4 of the 5 wheel bolts. They were able to fix the bolts very very quickly and for less than 100.00. Id had the same service performed by another garage and they charged over 300 for the same service. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I would go back to them in a heart beat if I have more auto issues. Absolutely wonderful company.

The folks here know what they are doing! They are keeping me safe and mobile in my 17 year old vehicle. Not even the dealership repair shop could tell me what was wrong nor would they take the time to figure it out!Not everybody can go out and just replace their car, when you have an electrical problem MARS can help you!

I have been in school in Morgantown for 5 years now. This was the first time I needed a mechanic in town. The cold weather took its number on my car and flooded the engine. I thought something may be wrong with my fuel injectors. I called AAA and there are only two approved AAA shops in town. Here and Ervins, I figured Id take it here. I have my speculations about taking my car to a towing company to get fixed. I tried to call ahead using the number listed here and it rings once then never rings again. Called multiple times to the same result. 8:30 Monday morning and the phones dont work or arent being answered. Anyways we get here and I walk in, the service writer didnt acknowledge me for a minute or two then asked what she could help with. I explained the situation and asked to talk to a mechanic but they were busy. She took note and asked the type of car I had. I drive a 98 Isuzu Rodeo. She straight up told me that they didnt know how to work on these, know where to get parts, and wasnt sure if theyd get around to it today. I asked if they would at least be able to diagnose it by closing tonight if not I would be happy to take it somewhere else. She ignored me and asked for my name and number. Told me I couldnt park it where the tow truck company put it while I was inside and to move it. Was overall rude, nasty, and incompetent. They do not need to be AAA approved and do not deserve to be. This was not a specialty vehicle by any stretch of the imagination. I do not understand how they are in business. I took my car to Shorty Andersons based on their good google reviews after this and had my car back by 3pm. Dont waste your time even trying to come here.

These guys are the best Ive found in Morgantown, and Ive gone to three different places. I had to get my ancient Subaru inspected and it needed quite a bit of work to pass. Jeff the owner spent quite a bit of time explaining the work to me that needed to be done and compromised on it with me because the car is really not worth sinking that much cash at this point. They even didnt make me pay for a part they didnt end up needing!! They kept in touch with me the whole time, informing me of anything they found along the way, let me drop off and pick up my car after hours, and were very courteous the whole time. I will definitely take my car back there and recommend them to anyone!!

I never write reviews, but Im writing this to hopefully help anyone else avoid Morgantown Auto Repairs shady and illegal business practices. My friends car was towed here after not starting with known damage to the transmission. We got a call from the shop with an estimate of $800 for a new transmission and replacement of a head gasket. Knowing the vehicle in question pretty well, we knew the gasket didnt need replaced and felt that they were trying to overcharge us for unnecessary work. We decided to have the car towed elsewhere and this is where they showed their true colors. They refused to release the car until they received payment for the oil they put in the car while in their hands, which they received promptly, and is totally understandable. Payment was made over the phone and we went to get the car the next day. However we were told they were charging $11 for oil, and showed up to an $111 charge on the card that was never discussed. When trying to get to the bottom of the issue the secretary just grabbed a sign from the window and waived it in my face, while saying that they charged for diagnostics. Meanwhile Im just trying to explain that it was never discussed via phone and clearly I cant see the sign in their window when Im standing in my living room. Then the owner decides to come out and irately accuses me of being entitled and of trying to steal his money by refusing to pay. He refuses to refute the illegal unauthorized charge, that I wouldnt have had a problem paying if I wasnt blatantly lied to, and tells me to get out of his business, and calls the cops on me for refusing until the problem is sorted. I never once got irate, cursed, or raised my voice at these people. But they were so threatened by my calling out their illegal business practices that they called the cops to have me escorted off of their property. Do yourself a favor and dont deal with these people. It wont be worth your time or money.

Car battery wouldnt hold a charge. They didnt identify the issue, said it must be due to something they didnt check for, and charged me $300.

They lead me to believe they could repair my car. Over $1000 later I got a quick fix. Turns out they broke a bolt off the starter while doing their repairs as well, not that it mattered too much with the rest of the shotty work they did. They might be ok at oil changes, but I would not trust them with anything more complicated than that. This was three years ago, so maybe they have changed their business moto to include not taking advantage of college students, but I am still bitter that they tricked me.

Expecting to use my AAA membership and get AC and brake work performed by a recommended business, I called for an appointment to diagnose and estimate cost of services. Im told to expect a wait of four hours beyond my appoinment time before diagnostic review to begin. Then another two hours to actually diagnose the problems. What is wrong with this picture? I am a waiting customer with no other means of transporation to and fro. The business offers no transporation services. So what good is an appointment in the first place? AAA has nothing viable to keep their business afloat. So sad to see them sink! If only they used the services they recommend then maybe they could survive?
