Encore is a guitarist dream come true. Its a great shop and Chad lives and breathes guitars. I have bought and sold several nice guitars there over the years. I have moved out of Minneapolis and I really miss that place. If you are into guitars and amps, you must go check this place out !

The best music store I’ve been to in Minneapolis.The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and a great resource for a guitar player of any skill set. The walls and shelves are stacked floor to ceiling with everything you could ever need.

I have been all but pushed out of the store every time I’ve gone in. I was treated so aggressively it to this day boggles my mind. I have been to this store three times. My first experience was to get strings the man at the register seemed annoyed to do so. My second experience I went in to buy a Stratocaster but they refused to help me. My third time I went in for 500k pot for a les Paul the man behind the counter aggressively asked what diameter. I was confused by question and apologized and said “I thought that modern Gibson used a standardized diameter”he then slammed the drawer and yelled at me.

Chad has been running this store for almost 30 years and he knows his art! Hes a no nonsense type of guy, who I get but some dont because he cuts through all the BS that goes with the music industry, and will be honest about the fact that he needs to make a dollar too, in order to keep the doors open on his shop, that he loves! Anyway, hes always been fair with me, and even will throw you some great wisdom as far as buying gear, if you pay him the respect he deserves! Lastly he always has some sweet, old beautiful vintage guitars available for purchase, but dont expect to get them for free, as he knows the real market! Highly recommended!

Ive been going to Encore for about 12 years, and a lot of my most-used gear was purchased there, because Chad had the best deal. Some of the items are priced low because they may need some work, but nothing that isnt obvious from trying it out. I cant speak for how good the shop is for beginners, since Ive only shopped there as an adult, but if you love guitars and want to find something unique for a reasonable price, Encore is the best shop in Minneapolis or St. Paul.

The place is oozing a forgotten treasures and there are interesting and valuable little gems all over the store. Reminds me a bit of The Book Trader but for musical instruments.Chad sold me on a guitar without being pushy or arrogant. He took the time to talk with me about the construction process of acoustic guitars, and walked me through playing increasingly expensive guitars while discussing what made them more expensive. You arent gonna get that at Guitar Center, or even some other local places. A+, do recommend.

I bought some of my favorite gear at Encore over the years. Chad is always full of helpful insight that you dont often get other places and he spends as much time with you as you need to understand the situation. I also have my amps repaired there and its super reasonable. There is so much cool gear there go check it out.

I had a wonderful experience. The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful in getting my daughters first guitar. He didnt try to sell us the most expensive equipment and went above and beyond to make sure that every piece that he sold us was in top notch condition.

Chad has always been very helpful and honest to my husband whenever we stop in. I appreciate that Chad makes recommendations based upon what my husband actually needs, or will use - he never refers him to something that would be frivolous or a poor fit. He wants to see his customers happy, and their purchases put to good use.

Encore is a jewel of the whittier neighborhood. For one, The staff is very knowledgeable. Any guitar related questions I have get answered at Encore Music. The service is top notch and very well priced. I had a guitar that fell of a table and the bolts holding the neck to the body were ripped out. These guys fixed it, set it up, and made it sound better then it did when it was new for like $70! If you want the real deal, Encore is the place to go.

Shop owner is a very nice & down to earth guy. The shop can be kinda messy some times, But definitely a cool music store with some sweet & vintage gear.

One word: MESS. It was a complete disaster. It was difficult to get around due to stack of drums and boxes and clutter. the staff was pushy, and even though there were a couple very nice pieces, it wasnt really worth the overall experience. Not for the Claustrophobic. It wasnt dirty, just heinously disorganized.

Friendly vibe, great service and an incredible range of gear at reasonable prices. My go-to place.
