Kelly and TCDC totally exceeded my expectations. After the delivery folks managed to damage a drum set that was really well packed, Kelly made it right. Pictures are of the shipping container he put the replacement drum hoops in. A wood frame! This must have been expensive to ship but it shows just how committed they are to supporting their customers and the drumming world. Amazing attention to detail in todays make a quick buck world. Ill be back for one of their drum sets someday--dont hesitate to patronize TCDC--they are outstanding!

My experience at TCDC has been 100% positive. Kelly took the time to help me buy the cymbal *I* wanted to buy, not the one *HE* wanted to sell me, if you catch my drift. Good people. If you are a drummer who has been put off by your experience at other shops, ignored or talked down to, give TCDC a try, you wont be disappointed!

These guys rule. Im missing a piece of hardware on my old Acrolite so I have to use snare string to hold the snare wire in place. Not ideal. I walked in looking for string and they just happened to have the obscure piece of hardware I needed laying on the front desk. BAM. They kindly hooked me up with what I need to fix my drum and some homemade snare straps. Top-notch dudes in a top-notch drum shop!

Swung in to pick up a new bass drum head and just look at snare drums but after playing just a bit on one of their 651 snares I knew I was going to be walking out with it. It blew away everything else I played on. Kelly was super helpful in finding a bunch of options in my price range and definitely was there to help me find what worked for me instead of just selling me the highest priced gear like some music stores . I totally recommend stopping in, the prices are great and the new larger store is awesome! It has everything you could ever need drum wise!

I recently purchased a Ludwig Classic Maple Drum Kit. I really love the kit and is everything advertised. Unfortunately there was a claw and tension rod missing. Even more unfortunate, due to my impatience and ignorance, I left a somewhat unflattering review on Reverb. For that I apologize and hope that it in no way hurts the reputation of this fine drum shop. I will continue to do business with them when I can.Once again please accept my apology.Bill

Kelly is really exceptional. He has a love for the music AND the art of crafting world class drums. He has a customer service touch that builds real relationships with the drummers that stop by his shop. I’ve been a Pearl fan most of my percussive life, and I’d put his TC Travel Dates and custom snares against anything from the “big guys”. Let me be clear: Twin Cities Drum Collective doesn’t just make excellent drums for a “local shop.” They make excellent drums. Full stop.

If you haven’t been to TCDC yet drop what you are doing and go there now!!! Kelly hooked me up with a very fair trade on my vintage kit and I left with a gorgeous 651 snare because, well, I had to. Play their drums and you will agree, it’s must-have stuff. Looking forward to owning more of their unique and killer sounding local drums. Coolest shop in town!!

The guys at the Drum Collective were great. My wife and I were looking for a starter kit for our young son and the staff made a number of recommendations and helped us to decide which set would work best for our son and our home. They streamlined the order process and put the set together for us before pick up. They also connected us with a drum instructor in our area. The store was clean and well organized, but best of all, they let our toddler try out each of the sets on display.

Lane and Kelly are awesome! I’m getting back into drumming and needed some trusted advice. They both spent a lot of time guiding me thru choices and decisions. Always had ideas to tweak this or that to make my purchase exactly what I wanted. Went with their “travel date” line. The bass is FULL! Was really impressed w the depth and warmth of sound. Much “bigger” in a small format than I dreamed. They also have an amazing range of cymbals. When I was younger I don’t think I spent the time selecting and always wished I had spent more time dialing in the cymbals and creating a complementary set. At TCDC I did just that! Can’t be happier w the selection.Overall. Really impressed by the knowledge, friendliness, time spent. But even more. This shop is in our city! Shopping local is important. And you get what you pay for. Not only the gear. But the expertise.Buy from these guys. You’ll be glad you did!

My GF bought me a snare drum from a big box online store this Christmas. After opening it, I noticed something off about the drum. I took it to TCDC and it took Kelly about 5 minutes to make it right for me. The price blew me away. The best part of my first trip to TCDC was the guys there. Had a great time chatting with them and the first thing that came to my mind was “This place is so rad!” And yes, TCDC is very rad! I’m done with big box retailers when it comes to drums. If you want work done by knowledgeable and overall great guys, by all means make the trip to TCDC. To say you won’t be disappointed is a complete understatement, if you are like me, you’ll leave with a bump in your passion and a desire to return.

Another 5 star review here. Great supply of heads in stock, quality cymbals, drum sets both new and old, snares, parts, sticks, stands, advice --- all the things! The shop is setup in a small old building that I believe used to house the city waterworks utilities which is cool, and plenty of parking. Its also near I-494 and Hwy 52. Twin Cities we are lucky to have this drum store here so give the drummer some and get down here and buy some goodies.

These guys are amazing. From the moment I walked into their former shop in South Saint Paul just a month ago to today when I dropped off a classic Gretsch kit to get their star treatment to refurbish/upgrade it, Kelly, Lane, John (and every other guy whos names unfortunately escape me now), have treated me with respect, genuine interest and fast friendship as they helped me find what I was looking for. Their drums are beautiful, hand-made, one-of-a-kind masterpieces that sing and are a dream to play. Needless to say I was more than happy to drop some serious coin here and I am a customer for life. I could go on and on and will sing their praises to anyone who will listen. I purchased 2 new kits that I am having a blast playing and feel so fortunate to have stumbled on such a wonderful group of fellow musicians and artisans that have re-energized my commitment to making music. Kelly you are the bomb!

I am giving a well deserved 5 start review. I have been playing drums for over 30 years. I have been in the market for a year or so to buy a Yamaha recording custom kit. I found the kit I wanted at twin cities drum collective. Kelly was very knowledgeable about the kit and new the history from whom it came from. After a week I pulled the trigger and made the purchase. Upon delivery of the delivery of the drum kit everything came out fine except the bass drum. It was cracked!! I was in touch with Kelly immediately and he went beyond the means of customer service. Reassuring me that the matter will be taken care of and it was!! I highly recommend doing business with Kelly and twin cities drum collective for any future drum/percussion purchases.

Extremely friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and approachable! I came in looking to buy a set of used hi-hats and a crash cymbal and I was immediately offered a ton of suggestions and help just based on the little bit of admittedly vague and limited information I gave. I even got a chance to jam out a little bit to test the cymbals I was looking at on one of the custom kits — the zebra-striped one, if my memory serves (which looked and played awesome, for the record).Best of all, when I was checking out, it was discovered that I wouldn’t be able to afford the purchase on my limited budget, but instead of simply turning me away, I was offered a discount to fit it within my price range — plus two free drum keys! And I truly appreciate that; my kit is now essentially fully finished and revamped.Even just with this one visit, I would 100% *absolutely* recommend TC/DC to any drummers as a first stopping place for any drum-related needs. I know I would certainly make the 30 minute drive here from my place rather than visit any other sub-par big-box store.

I went in looking to buy a kit and had no idea what I wanted. Kelley, the owner, spent more than two hours walking me through all of my options and even showed me the shop where the custom drums are made. The customer service was head and shoulders above big retailers such as guitar center where all they care about is making a quick buck. Drum Collective really cares about their customers. I came in clueless and walked away with a brand new custom kit and inspiration to make magic with it.

I recently stopped in to see how the TCDC compared to the old Ellis drum shop (I now live in MA). I was met by Connor who remembered me from over 10 years ago when I was a regular gawking at cymbals and drums. All of the staff made me feel right at home and they have a lot of great local products (both drums and accessories). I was really impressed by the many different lines of drums that they make in house and the refurb work they can do on all sorts of different drums! Their cymbal selection was also quite good. For as small of a shop as it is, there are a lot of mid tier to high end cymbals to test out from all the major brands and even some up and coming cymbal makers.I used to go to Ellis drum shop until they shut their doors so I am really happy to see that the fun loving drummers and dedicated craftsmen of the Twin Cities drumming community have a great store to talk shop and play great gear. I will always try to stop by whenever I am back in MN.
